I have just got back from Cardiff having seen Geoff Waynes war of the Worlds.

It was fab to see it on stage with Geoff right there at the front - the Orchestra was Superb and the singers were great too that chap from the Moody Blues - Justine whats his name and Chris Thompson from Manfred Mann Earth band and a chap from Asia - you know Heat of the moment......

Anyway I cant say how great the show was!!!! But the Venue was cr*p and made it a poor evening :(

Its so anoying you pay out for something spend ages looking foward to it and its ruined by the Venue!

Has anyone else had an evening ruined like that?

I haven't but I can understand your disappointment.

War of the worlds is so amazing. I listen to it often - my Dad played it in the car on a holiday as we drove across France when I was a kid. If it didn't live up to my expectantions due to the venue I'd be a tad p'd off too xx

Thanks guys - you have bought back to me how good the music was even though I couldnt really see the stage without cranning my neck and was sat on rows of almost school like chairs cramed together so tight you could feel the change in the pocket of the stranger sitting next to you!

A smoke break in the interval was like walking to London from Cardiff it was so far - guards on all the doors as you were not allowed out onto the street and were crammed onto a terrace for maybe 20 people without about 300 people also trying to have a smoke - I gave up the idea once I lit it - as I had inhaled enough from everyone else.

I paid £12.00 for two bottled beers and a coke - but had to leave them at the bar as I couldnt carry them! They neglaected to tell me until after they had taken my money that there were no bottles left and I just couldnt carry three plastic pint cups through the crowds on my own and hold my purse!

And £15.00 for a programme - although I havent had a chance to read it yet - its more like a book and certainly worth the money compared to £12.00 for drinks left at the bar!

But the video scenes in the background were great as well as the music and a holographic Richard Burtons head cant really be discribed.

Right I am off to bed tired and hungry but its too late to eat now - but will think of the music - which was totally fab - what an Orchestra and Band!

I bought the tape in Malta and played it all the way home from the airport in the car, still have it somewhere and whenever I hear it I am transported back to that holiday.
Shame things weren't up to scratch and I would be really spitting feathers about paying all that for drinks and not being able to carry them away.
Glad you enjoyed part of the evening tho.

We saw it at the NEC last Friday. Even better than last year, utterly brilliant!

(It's Justin Hayward, by the way.)

If you didn't have a camera pm me, I took loads of photos.

The NEC isn't the best arena in the world but we're sort of used to it now. Our smoking area was a cage thing.

I liked last year's head better.

Still it was a brilliant night out - and we got the T shirts.

lol

We saw it at the NEC last Friday as well!

We were disappointed that the show start time was half hour later than on the tickets and the doors opened later than they were supposed to so a lot of hanging around beforehand (kept thinking of all the jobs I could have done in the extra half hour!)

The show was brilliant but the merchandise was soooo expensive. We did get the programme though which will be kept with the album.

Thanks Guys - its nice to know that everyone agrees the show was great.

Mo I went to see George Micheal at the new Wembly too and cant say I was impressed either. I went the first week it opened and he didnt have a support band, didnt have a guest star despite the tickets assuring us there would be and used the stage as his own political Arena. I didnt get drinks there too - but this time it was because I couldnt get to the bar - we were two rows from the very top and although I am not scared of heights I had dredful vertigo going up and down those steep steps and had to hold onto the banister so couldnt carry drinks again.

Before I sound too much of a misery guts I went to See Mama Mia in Bristol last week and it was an excellent night out.

The seats where great the venue very well catered for and again a fantastic cast and show - I would def go their again and highly recommend the show :)

Was it the CIA? Bet it was - worst venue on God's earth. The new Millenium Centre is fab as is St David's Hall but I don't care who comes to the CIA - I'll never darken their doors again. Saw Elton John there a year or two back and the people going back and forth to the bar for drinks made me wonder why on earth they went to the concert in the first place - so distracting and disruptive - another thing, you come to Cardiff and don't contact me! Where did you travel from?

Maddiecow Report 12 Dec 2007 23:38

Ooops Ann - am I in the doghouse? Yes it was at the CIA and I will never go there again. The CIA that is - I will go back to Cardiff to do some shopping when its no longer a construction site.

I am about an hours drive over the water.

I saw Elton John at Ipswitch Football a fews years back - wow another great show!!! Only dissapointment there was that he didnt change outfits - just wore plain black. But that again was a fantastic concert and a fantasic venue - prob as was in the middle of a really hot summer too.

only in the doghouse in as far as you could have made a night of it and stayed with me - got plenty of room - that is a genuine offer by the way - and you could then drive home in daylight - I'm just off Junction 32 - you probably passed within yards of my front door - remember next time!!
