Ive just found my paternal grandmothers death. She left when my dad was only a baby leaving my grandad to bring up their 4 children alone, to be with another man who ive found she dumped after a few years marriage and thats where i lost all trace of her. I was just scouting about putting random names in and have found her death by off chance in 1996 the birth date matches up as does her first and 2 middle names. She had married a third time as she has yet another different name.

The weird part for me is that this is the first of my ancestors i have found that i feel nothing for, im glad i have her details but i feel quite numb to have found out she outlived 2 of the children she abandoned.

This genealogy lark really does get ya emotions going dont it.

Jax it does and it dosent - I must admit I joined for a number of reasons but mainly I am hoping to find out when my mother dies .... I would have no other way of knowing and will then be free to trace who I want - so it works in all kinds of odd ways.

HI Jax,
not exactly what you expected then?

I can understand how you feel to some extent. I found out 6 months ago that the fathers name on my birth cert...isn't my fathers name.... My emotions went haywire when I found out this person had also died in 1996.

It takes a while to decide which direction to take from the initial info you have.

Good luck with your search, I hope you find some good stuff.

Joy it does get to you when you find out some of the stuff of your past.

Maddie that must be tough hun, my dad didnt want anything to do with his mum not that she bothered contacting him when he was alive.

Tina i cant imagine how that must have felt hun.

Aw I know just how you feel Jax

There is a line of mine that I have no feelings for. Don't want to go publically into details but there was some really bad things one of my rellies did that made me feel awful for a good while. It was my G Grandfather and like you I don't feel any connection to them at all.

In fact there is a big space where my research should be.

I pick it up every now and again and try to fill in the blanks but my heart isn't in it.

It really is mad the twist and turns ya find out about aint it.

Same here Muffy im intrigued to find out my full story but have no affection for that line at all as i do my other ones, so that one is always left till i hit a wall.
