At work today we were doing role plays using a new telephone calling system..............one played the advisor and the other the customer, this was taped and then played back to us......................................................

I nearly jumped out of my skin and I was told the color drained from my face ............ The voice I heard wasn't me, it was my Mum!!!...................You always think about people looking like their parents etc, but never do you say to yourself that you sound like them..............Well I do and it was one hell of a shock

As anyone else experienced anything like this???

It does hurt Malc.............when people used to say to me that it gets easier I thought "Yea right, I'm going through hell here and all you can say is it gets easier!"

But they were right - It took a long time, and it wasn't easy and after 2 and a half years every so often like today it catches me out and it hurts all over again.

My thoughts are truly with you Malc (( hugs )) xx

I always looked more like my dads side of the family. My elder sis was the spitting image of my Mum and got more so as she got older. we lost mum in 1980 aged 71 and when sis got near that age it was so spooky to see her it could have been MUM. She passed age 71 too!!
I,m now that age & its uncanny I keep catching glimpses of myself or see myself doing something and its MUM to the tee.I have had to take second looks sometimes and thought Oh my goodness MUM!!!.

I seem to have lost the dad side of me. even our daughter says sometimes "you looked just like nan then"

When i first got married in the 70's i stayed in London and my parents moved to Cornwall.I took up a evening job in a bingo hall after have my first baby. There was a lady that used to come in one day a week and was identical to my mum.I missed my mum so much,i used to stare at her.Now years later when i found out family, she was my mums baby sister.Mum and all her sisters were adopted after there mum died.We knew about the baby but she was never approached as she did not know. She died in 1997 before she ever knew about us. Annie, that is so sad! What a shame you never got to talk to her and find out who she was all those years before but obviously not meant to be.

I look in the mirror and see my late Mum, and I know everyone says I sound just like her as well as look like her, I am 5" taller than she was so can carry the extra weight a little more, but am apple shaped same as Mum and have to watch myself so I don't develop diabetes and angina etc as Mum did.
