I've just registered with the above because I'm fed up of getting phone calls when I'm trying to cook the kids tea etc. I couldn't believe how easy it was. I just googled and there it was. It took me less than 5 minutes to do it. Lets see if this makes a difference. I believe it takes a few weeks to stop the calls completely.

It can take up to a month

I've been with them a year. It took about 2 months for the calls to slow down but after that Ive only had 2 in last 10 months. When they call you say I am with TPS and your compnay can be fined up to £2000.00 for this call - please remove me from your list .....oh and can I have your managing directors name ....at this point they normally hang up and your removed.

We have also joined MPS as every credit card and its wife would write offering us a card and you cant put it in the recycle as they pre fill the forms out with your personal details.... these have reduced greatly.

I registered ours a while back, it did take a few weeks for it to die down but it's so much more peaceful now. It was getting insane, everyday we were getting calls about insurance... I even had a cold call trying to sell broadband...from the provider I'm already with. I told them I wasn't interested and hung up before I realised that it was odd lol.

Now when anyone calls you can ask them who they're calling for and take a phone number from them and inform them you are on the TPS and they're commiting a crime calling you without your requesting it :D

Oh Maddie... MPS, I'd not heard of that. I'll get onto that when we move.

OR maybe I should do it now so that we don't get all the rubbish coming here for us when we move.

I'm going to do the MPS too. Ta for the prompt Maddie. I'm sick of shredding unsolicted mail. I even phoned my cred card company the other day as they had offered me a personal loan every month for yonks.

we were getting loads of mail for the previous owners of our house. I just kept marking them return to sender and putting them in the post box at the end of the street. This seemed to work well - I think the company end up paying the return postage. lol

You should be able to get to MPS from the TPS website- Its called the Mail Preferance Service I think - or something similar - I followed a link from TPS when I was sick of junk mail.

Also those free post envelopes are free to send out - the charge goes to the company only when you use them to send stuff back. I find a lloyds credit card offer to MBNA and visa versa is fun or pizza offers to Car insurance services ....wicked evil grin!

Yes Maddie, I've been advised to do that. I did a couple of times but didn't quite dare to put in the chip shop menu (besides I need it for reference)
I have just registered with the MPS My (belated) New years resolution is to remove myself from the mailing lists of all the companies/banks we do use. When I phoned the cred card they did it no bother. I don't know why I didn't do it before.
