Oh the Hobdays! :-) Whenever I see Hobdays petshop in Southam, I think of them, they owned it (not sure if its still in the family). Paul, did you feel different when you came off them?

Carole

Carole Report 26 Jan 2008 15:11

Jules how about walking into town instead of taking the car? i used to walk from Gt Baddow to town. From where you live into town is probably not that far. Mind you, you wouldn't be able to buy much shopping as it is a fair distance to carry it back!!

Julie Report 26 Jan 2008 15:06

Carole...thats what I used to do....would ignore the door n phone....it's awful to think about it now.

I have enjoyed the walks we've done n as I explained to her I'd rather do it at night when it's dark....don't feel so visible then!!

Thank you for starting this thread...didn't think I could ever say as much as I have done....but in this short time it has made me focus on what I MUST do...thank you all xxx

Coventry - much much too far away!

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 26 Jan 2008 15:02

Well that's a shame Jules - don't think I could walk as far as Essex - but that's where emails come in handy and the telephone

Coventry :-( I love walking too, and used to dance quite a lot. Im sure that not exercising actually ages you...I was super fit til around 5 years ago, now I dont exercise, and hardly even walk anywhere, I feel about 95.

AnnCardiff Report 26 Jan 2008 15:02

Well done Carole - I have to start doing some walking - not for depression but for exercise and I like it this time of the year cos you can see Spring developing in the trees and plants

Ann....funnily enough I grew up in Newport, 2 of my daughters still live there with their dad)n have recently moved from Tewkesbury, not far from the other Ann but am now living in Chelmsford, Essex.....

Carole

Carole Report 26 Jan 2008 14:59

Jules start by having a little walk at night when there aren't many people about. As the nights draw out soon you'll be walking in the light and not realise it so suddenly. Then build on it slowly. I know it's hard I have gone from sitting in the house with my curtains closed all day pretending to be out if anyone knocks, to going into town alone !! Horray for me xxx

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 26 Jan 2008 14:58

and where are you Romany Star? I'd rather do walking than jogging - bits of me keep moving long after I've stood still with jogging!!

You know this has turned out to be a really useful thread and I hope it runs and runs cos believe me, there's a lot more than us few with depression - let's hope others have the courage to join in

Ann....Thats a good idea, he did once read alot of sheets on stress related headaches the Dr gave me a few months back n he is alot more understanding than my ex ever was (Ex got me onto the 'smoke' n I ended the relationship of 12 years after it turned violent)....I just need to make the most important step of talking about it to the proper people n start the long climb to the top again.

Dave.........I have just started to get to know the woman next door n we have been on a 3 mile walk a few times which makes me feel great....so you're right, it does help. :o)
