I was told by the washing machine engineer to do a empty (with powder direct in drum)wash once a month and to check the outflow pipe as the stale water can come back up that, especially if something is in the pump keeping the pipe ope lke a coin. |

Have you checked that there's nothing in the filter?, ...- Often at the bottom of front of machine behind an easy removed panel. |

My Mum one had a pair of my then 3 yr old's pants stuck in the machine. They were little Y fronts. |

Kim and Aggy recommend that you do a boil wash with soda crystals in the drawer followed by another boil was with a pint of white vinegar in the drum |

My machine used to do this too but the problem turned out to be fumes from a blocked sewer outside! We only found out when the sewer reached critical mass and once that was resolved the washing machine was as fresh as a daisy again. |

My daughter has done all of the above things to try rid the machine of a terrible pong, but nothing has helped. She borrowed my flexible rod to see if something was stuck, filter checked etc. too, all to no avail. So, she may have to phone the shop where we both bought our machines not quite 2 years ago. I must ask if she has checked under the drum, because something could have slipped under there. This happened to me years ago with an old machine. |

Do you leave the door closed between washes? I have a built in washer/dryer and find that the is a stale smell if I don't leave the door open for a while after doing a load, but because its built in can't leave it open all the time. Will have to try some of above to help. |

Betterware do a product that you put in the machine and then to a 90c wash. It does takes out all the smells from the machine. you could also try put some Mr Muscle drain unblocker down the kitchen sink in case its a pong coming back up the pipes from that . |
