Hi all, Mo we had one lot of young trick or treaters, a group of five so they had some of the sweets. Two teenagers came while we were eating our meal and watching strictly come dancing (we have a security camera so can see them on TV) We didn't open the door to them and our weather was OK here.

Good afternoon everybody, from a very wet windy Kent. Did any of you have any trick or treaters last night.? I think the weather must have put them off round here,as we didn't have any callers. So it looks like I will end up eating all the sweets myself, thats if the grandchildren don't eat them first. I hope you are all well. I hope Jean and J are having a good time, despite the weather. Love to you all. Mo xxx

Hello one and all. You are so right Sallie,I cannot remember it being this quiet on the boards,in such a long time. Mind you,it is friday, and if anything is going to kick off,it will be tonight. Not that I enter into the argumental threads, but it does stop a lot of the boredom setting in. The only two threads I join in with,is ours and the friendly thread, that Marilyn also uses. But I do love to read the other threads. I hope you have a lovely evening Debbie,it will be a nice treat for you both. As much as we all love our children,it is nice to have some just the two of you time. I hope Daniel didn't lose himself today, bless him. It's such an adventure when they are allowed to go and have a scout around alone. And he is of the age now, when he does not always want to be with mum and dad. We have nothing special planned for this weekend either Sallie. No meals out,as we have done for the last two Saturdays. So it looks like it will be a T.V night tommorrow, with strictly dancing etc. If our Jean is looking in,HAVE A LOVELY HOLIDAY, and don't do anything naughty. lol Love to you and J. Cheerio for now girls, take care, love to all. Mo xxx

Hello Everyone,
Just popped in to say hello to you all! It's very quiet on here at the moment, a lot of the boards are the same. I think a lot of people are out shopping, making a start on buying Christmas and some are busy making cards and gifts ready for Christmas.
One of my friends use to do Avon, not sure if she still does, she hasn't mentioned anything about it for a good while--I'll have to ring her to find out.
I hope you all have a good weekend--we haven't got anything planned so far, but I've got plenty of things to do, so I won't get bored.
Speak to you all later. Take care!
Love, Sallie.xxx

Morning All, am making the most of the end of our good weather. It is forecast to break over the weekend, so am getting "big" things washed and out on the lines. Jean, I hope it doesn't dampen your holiday too much. I know that going away is so wonderful it could be any weather as long as you make the most of what you have, and I am sure you will do that. I think probably for you, anything will be better that being inside a house full of disruption.
Back to Avon, my neighbour used to run a catalogue but gave up this year as she had to make so much money each month to make it worth her while, and she was finding that people cut back on that sort of spending. But another friend of mine buys all of her Avon stuff on their web site. She thinks it is fantastic. I haven't tried that yet, as I stockpiled my things to give my neighbour the commission before she stopped her little enterprise.
I also buy quite a lot of things from the Kleeneze catalogue. We get quite a few delivered to the house, but I always stick to the one lad who does it. He is quite young and just starting out so I guess he deserves a break. I hope he remembers me as a good customer when he makes his first million at my expense:-))
Halloween causes little concern exactly where we live but there are cetain Hot Spots on the Island which are well policed over the couple of days. I also have given fruit to children who knocked on the door. Their faces were a picture, but I had no more knocking that night. It is ok when the little ones come around 6pm with Mums & Dads but we have had older people after 10pm, so I put a very polite notice on my doorbell that we don't want callers.
We never got round to maiking the mincemeat this week. The weather has been so good that the children have been out all the time. Daniel and a couple of pals are packing up a pic nic today and going off on their bikes. They may be Streetwise at the age of 13 & 14 but they are not at all Street Wise in the sense of any directional knowledge. They have no idea where they are half the time. So todays adventure will be one of First Right, First Left, Straight Ahead riding and see where they end up. No doubt I will get a phone call at some point to ask me exactly where they may be if there is a certain landmark in sight. Hopefully not too far away from home if it is getting dark. All good fun though.
Hubby & I are out for dinner tonight with a couple of friends. We so rarely go out together it is quite a treat when we do.
All for now. Have a nice day, and Jean, have a fantastic break. DEBBIE

Hello Girls,
Debbie, you and your 'helpers' have been busy! I always made my own Christmas cake until a few years ago, but it isn't worth making one now, as only Alun eats it--I just buy a small fruit one for him and a bigger sponge Christmas cake for the rest of us. Hope Sophie enjoys herself at the party on Saturday. Enjoy yourself at the Opera House on Friday morning. Both Jennie and Richard loved the book when they were younger.
Ann, I had to chuckle when you told us about giving an apple to that lad, I bet he was shocked and couldn't believe it. Knowing what some are like these days, he probably warned his mates against going to your house because they would only get an apple. Glad to hear that hubby's foot is a bit better.
Jean, nice to know that your packing is all organised and ready to go on Saturday. I hope that both you and J will enjoy you two weeks away, and that the weather won't be too bad. I know you will enjoy it whatever the weather. At least you be able to get all your cards done. Hope your daughter is alright. Hope you have a good and safe journey!
Mo, I still haven't bought much towards buying Christmas presents. I need Jennie to come shopping with me, she knows what appeals to the younger ones better than I do. It's many years since I've been to Bromley, I bet it's changed quite a lot-- I loved to go shopping there. My cousin lives there, but we haven't seen each other for a good many years, although we keep in touch by phone. The poor mans 'Armani' is always the same at this time of year, isn't it? I wasn't on yesterday, as you know I have again been bitten by the 'bug'. My trouble is that once I have an idea for a page, I have to get on with it.
Huia, not sure if you will be on here later--I've read your Rotorua thread, its great reading all about your weekend there. Also, looked at the pictures of the stained glass window, the chapel and the pictures of the surrounding area. Rotorua looks a beautiful place. Hope you find Phil well when you visit him, and that you won't be too upset when you leave.
Love to Marie, Sue, Marilyn, Liz, and Grace. Hope things are okay with you all.
Speak to you all tomorrow.
Love, Sallie.xx

I sometimes give apples off our tree. I shall never forget the look of amazement I got from a large lout who was hoping for money when he growled trick or treat. Hello everybody. Sorry for not appearing on here yesterday. I was up at Bromley, doing some christmas shopping. I didn't get that much, only stocking fillers,as we went by train. I cant see how the depression is affecting to many people, they were spending like there was no tommorrow. Unless folk are put things onto their credit cards. Pr-m-rk,or as we like to call,Primani the poor mans Armani, was absolutely heaving, and the queues seemed miles long. One of my friends queue'd up for 30 minutes to pay for her goods. The train we were due to catch, was full up,so we had to wait for the next one,and even then, the six of us could not sit together. Ann,the Avon sleep range,is really good. It's their room spray that I use. Is there not a lady local to you, that sells it. If not I am wondering if you could, google it and see if they sell on line. We don't have as many trick or treaters,as we used to have, as most of the youngsters in our area are now grown up. Thank goodness. But I still get some treats in,just in case. They would never go to waste here,as my own grandchildren would eat whats left of them anyway. So our Jean, you are all posh again, with your nice perm done. How much do we have to pay you to speak to you now then. lol It's such a shame about the weather turning. If it had been this week you were away,it would have been lovely for you. Will we not be seeing you on here for two whole weeks. Oh my golly, what will we do,we will miss you soooo much. But I do hope you have an absolutely wonderful break away. Hello to,Marie,Debbie,Huia, our Sallie where ever she has got to,come back Sallie we miss you. And all our lovely friends on here. Love and best wishes to you all. Mo xxx

Wow!! nobody been on here so far today!
Interesting to see that Avon do a sleep range (I assume that is lavender too? I don't have Avon delivered any more so that would be new to me (when I say any more I haven't had it for about 15 years. I too use Olbas Oil on a tissue under my pillow if I have a cold.
Deborah you are busy with all that cooking, puts me to shame!!! No Christmas cooking for me as we are going to son's. Not that DiL is into cooking either, son will cook Christmas lunch. Lovely to go for a long walk in the woods with the children, I bet they really enjoyed that. Hope your daughter enjoys her Haloween party. Do you get much trouble from Trick or treaters there?
OH's foot seems a bit better, he isn't complaining quite so much.

All packed now Jean? I am sure you are going to have a lovely break, I hope you have some nice weather.

Morning Girls There has been so much written in the last few days, I won't comment on everything. However, I also loved Michaels Buble's version of Cry Me A River, and the Twins should go (please). I have a lavender room spray which I bought from the Avon Catalogue, they also do a sleep range which may help. I often spray the childrens' bedroom with "Sleepy Spray", not sure if it works, but it must have some sort of psychological effect. Jean, you were right to put the tissue under your pillow as the essential oil version is very strong and can induce headaches. Ironically it is also used to help ease headaches. Mo, if you still have your cough and cold, you could do a similar thing by putting Olbas Oil on a tissue under your pillow. It smells a bit but clears blockages during sleep.
Huia, I'm pleased you had a good trip. I must take a look at your other thread, when I have the time.
Half term now, and we are busy. The Christmas Cake was made yesterday, and I am looking at making Mincemeat this year. I usually buy all of it but the children are so into their cooking at the moment, it is nice to try new things with them. Daniel makes lovely pastry, and I don't want to dampen their enthusiasm. There are some lovely cookery books around for children these days and it seems so much more fun for them cooking from their own books rather than from mine which don't have as many pretty pictures.
Took 3 of them for a long walk in the woods yesterday. Sophie is going as a witch to a party on Saturday so we picked up a lovely gnarled branch and some twigs and have made a very effective broomstick.
Off to the Optician thismorning for my 2 yearly check, then bits of shopping to do. Am hoping to take the youngest 2 to our Opera House on Friday morning to watch the stage version of The Gruffalo. Not sure how they can make such a short story into a play. It will be interesting to see where they extend the story.
Anyway, better be off :-)) Have a lovely day.

Morning Peeps, You must read Huia diary, its great, hope she keeps adding to it google "Maori Christ Window" and you will see lots of sites about it also there is one of Rotorua, lovey photos...
Sallie , I have to say I am not sure if the Lavender works or not, I have been so busy that I am exhausted, so sleeping until around 4.. which for me is a bonus, be careful with how much of it you put on the tissue, I over did it so finished up putting the tissue under my pillow and it seemed better, made my eyes water first time....lol...I am getting the hair permed today , most of the work is done now packing tomorrow, then we can bring everything out of the kitchen, then off we go....btw I am taking orders for pics of the new one, so form an orderly queue....
Mo, sorry you lost, but I bet you enjoyed the night out....and there is always next time...xx
hope everyone is o.k. and ready for the weekend

Hi Girls,
I'm late looking in today, been doing some scrapping and then we had to go out.
Mo, sorry your team lost again last night--no good me joining your team, everytime I've tried to play darts, they always end up on the floor.
Huia, so pleased you enyoyed your break at Rotorua. Looking forward to reading about it when you put the thread up. Hope you'll still join us on here though,we miss you when we don't hear from you.
Ann, I hope things are alright with you and hubby, and that his foot is a bit better today.
Jean, only a few days now before you and J go to Llandudno. I hope the weather will stay dry for you--makes it nicer to get about. Still, haven't been anywhere to buy lavender oil--I had two nights where I haven't been able to go to sleep, even though I was really tired going to bed.
Thinking of all our absent friends.
Take care everyone!
Love, Sallie.xxx

Hi everyone. I am fed up,we lost at darts again last night. Anyone any good at playing darts, coz we could do with you playing for us. We lost 4-2,and the two games that we did win,I finished, not that I am bragging mind you, well not a lot anyway. Let us know when you start your rotorua thread Huia,it will make good reading I am sure. Have you heard how Phil is. I hope he is o.k. Only a few days left Jean, till your holiday. I do hope that this nice weather lasts for you. It has been so warm here today,I went out in my coat this morning, and wished I hadn't as I was so hot. Ann those twins on x factor, have a lot to answer for. I went to get my hair cut today, and a lady came in with her young son. The lad wanted his hair cut the same as the dodgy duo. Love to all Mo xxx

Hello all. I have been home just over 3 hours but the computer was playing up a bit - sulking because I hadnt been on it for 4 days.
I had a great time, apart from my rotten eyes. I went to a weekend doctor yesterday, cost me, got some new antibiotic eyedrops. I hope they fix me but I am going to see if I can see my own doc tomorrow. I have choir practice tonight (hope I dont fall asleep) so will tell you all about singing in Rotorua when I have more time.
BTW, does anybody remember the Kings Singers from back in Adam and Eve's days? One of our conductors was Simon Carrington who co-founded it.
Better go.
Huia.
ps, I might start up a separate thread so people who might not read this one but read others that I have been on can 'read all about it' if the are interested, save me putting the same info on several threads.
