I have nine CDs of Jack Jones, mostly copied off his old LPs, some of the CDs have 2 LPs on them.

Ann, he has just done another tour or is going to do one....we were abit dissapointed with his choice of songs, he never sang any of the old favourites, but spent most of the time chatting or showing a film of him singing with is father, obviously dubbed , but effective... also sang songs from La Mancha, which wasnt our favourite choice.. but it was nice to be there....we enjoyed seeing Howard Keel and Tony Bennett, Johnny Mathias, Nat King Cole was rhe best , he just sang, not a lot of chat....But we regret not seeing Frank Sinatra, my boss used to go, it cost him £250 a seat, and that was many years ago...J has just reminded me we saw Sammy Davis Junior, now that was so good....and Count Basie..how did we afford to go to so many? certainly couldnt now..Have you got a lot of Jack Jones cd and Micheal Bouble? we used to take D to see the Sinners every boxing day......

Jean, I didn't know Jack Jones was still doing concerts in UK. We saw him 3 times in Bristol in the 70s, I have got most of his records, just love his voice. We also saw Ella Fitzgerald at the Guildhall Portsmouth, probably late 50s. Another one we saw was Helen Reddy. I do like Michael Buble, loved him singing Cry me a River last night, have put his CD on my Christmas list for OH. Crazy Love I think it is called.

Years ago I got my OH to go to lessons with me,as he could not dance at all. Where as,we were taught it at school.
He became quite good at it. But will not dance now, unfortunately for me.
We used to go to Blackpool every year, and go into the tower every afternoon,to watch the dancing and to listen to the Wurlitzer organ being played, but I could not get him onto the floor,I was so disappointed, and had to just sit and watch.

I am by no means a good dancer but I used to love to dance with our friend who could lead so well. OH and I could only do the square tango if we danced with our friends, if we danced it together we always went wrong. We like to go to the Torbay Hotel in Torquay which is a Shearings hotel, it has a great dance floor and for part of the evening the dance floor is full of older couples, especially if they play old time dances like the Valetta,

Oh, I have danced at the tower Blackpool (in trainers) we were there for the weekend and couldn't resist joining in!!!

To be honest Ann,I wish ballroom dancing was more popular.
Those were the days, when you didn't feel over dressed,if you went out in evening dresses,to dinner and dances.
I am afraid youngsters of today, will never know the feeling of joy we got from it.
Waltzing round the dance floor was magic.
But then the 1960's changed so much, romance on the dance floor changed.
We danced far apart from our partners.
I am lucky that one of my grandaughters,is really keen on ballroom dancing, and attends lessons every week.
She has danced at Blackpool Tower Ballroom,in competitions. But she has a girl partner,as the boys these days think it is sissy to dance.
Such a shame really,as she is such a good dancer, and watching her do latin is amazing.

Before we moved here in 1992 we used to go once a month to a dance held in a school hall ( a large hall), they used to have big bands play and our friends are very good at dancing, he used to take me round the floor to the quickstep dancing to Glenn Miller and i too love In The Mood. We also went to see the current Glenn Miller Orchestra when they played in Hitchin Herts.

And I also like Patsy Cline singing crazy.

Mo in Kent Report 25 Oct 2009 21:39

I loved the big band sounds, especially the Glenn Miller band.
In The Mood was a favourite of mine. Chatanooga Choo Choo also.
Another favourite of years ago Ann,was Patsy Kline singing Crazy.

AnninGlos Report 25 Oct 2009 21:27

I had not actually listened to him before but he took that song and made it his own. I have always loved it with Julie London singing it. Incidentally that is what Big Band music should sound like, I think few of them came near this week.

Oh Ann,I agree Michael was a real pleasure to watch. Now he is one who can really sing.
I wouldn't mind him singing me a lullaby, but don't tell Jean, she will think I am cheating on Roly. lol

Sallie, yes, finished that page and pleased with it too. OH's foot seems to be better for the rest although of course not as better as he would like!! He is sooo impatient!

Mo I was hoping the terrible twosome would go out tonight, they are awful and I am sure only getting through by virtue of all of Ireland voting for them.. I think it was right that Danyl should go through, didn't like Miss Frank. Loved Michael Buble's version of Cry me a River though. And not too keen on Westlife's song.

Mo in Kent Report 25 Oct 2009 21:08

Evening all.
Have you been watching X Factor. I am so shocked at the results.
The Irish twins have got through yet again,HOW thats what I want to know.
They are very strange boys, who in my opinion cannot sing very well.
I was very surprised to see Danyl in the sing off against Miss Frank, and I think the correct person got through.
I am not feeling to great at the moment. Our son has had a stinking cough and cold, and I think both Roly and I could be going down with it.
But hey ho,not going to let it get me down to much,I will just keep taking Paracetamol, and cough mixture, and hope for the best.
Night Night all, take care of yourselves. Love Mo xxx

Hi Girls,

Mo, so glad you enjoyed your meal last night, even though as you said, some of you got a bit mucked up. Mo, it will seem strange having to cook for an extra one. Jennie and Michael came for their Sunday roast, as they do most Sundays--Jennie's excuse is that I make a nicer roast dinner than her.
I told her, that's because I've had years of practice, her roast would be fine if she practised cooking it a bit more. Alun is fine thank you, he's been
cleaning out the golfish pond, now he's gone to 'play' with his trains. Boys and their toys!

Ann, thank you, I'll get some lavender oil in the week, I think I'll give it a try. How is OH's foot today? hope it is feeling a little bit better, and that he is resting it as much as he can. Read your Scrapbooking thread last night.
Have you done anymore to the page of your granddaughter making the card and scrap pages?

Jean, thank you for letting me know about the neck pillow--I'll be interested to know if it worked okay. You are going to be busy doing the
scrapbooks for GR friends and for your friend's Golden Anniversary.
I bought a Scrapbook yesterday, so that I can do a Family History one for Alun's sister and brother-in-law to give them for Christmas. So I've got plenty to keep me going.

I'm going to get on with some more scrapping now, so I'll look in later.

I hope that Huia is enjoying her weekend at Rotorua--I'm sure the break away, will do her the world of good.

Hoping all is well with Debbie, Marie, Sue, Liz, Grace and Marilyn.

Take care everyone, enjoy what's left of the weekend.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Sallie, I don't think any brand is better than any other. Tisserand lavender stuff is nice and you don't need too much of any of it.

Mo, glad you enjoyed your meal, messy pups!!

Jean, pity about the all night party next door, try it again tonight.

Hi there.
Just to let you know Jean, that I got home safe and sound, and sober.
As I don't drink,I stuck to iced water with my meal.
It was a lovely meal,if a little mucky, I had Ribs, fries and cole slaw.
Oooh what a mess four of us got in. Roly tried to eat it with his shirt,at least thats what the shirt looked like when he had finished. He's such a mucky pup.
I have washed the shirt this morning, and the stains have come out, thank the lord.
It ended up as four of us going, but it was nice.
I hope the Lavender helped last night Jean,it can be so relaxing,I sometimes use the Lavender room spray as well.
Sallie,I bet that Hobby craft rub there hands together when they see you walk in the door. They must see £ signs. lol
Hows you and Alun keeping, well I hope.
Have you got the family for dinner today.
This will be the first time I will have cooked a Sunday dinner for three,in ages. With our son being here,it's so strange changing the quantities, the I use.
Right ladies,I am going to prepare the dinner now.
I will be back this evening, bye for now. Love Mo xxx

Hi, Sallie, D got me a neck cushion and a small bottle of pure Lavender oil.. you can heat the pillow in the microwave, but I have had my nap this afternoon and just put it inside the pillow slip without heating it, and I could smell the faint aroma, tonight will be a test... so will let you know...she got the stuff from Dunhelm.....I am itching to get on with my scrapping and cards, when we get back and everything is back in the kitchen I intend to try and print off all the G.R. photos, so I can get the book going,,,I have promised my friend I will do her Golden wedding party book too, so I should have enough to keep me quiet, but if I can get the cards done while we are away, that will be a big help...

Bet Mo and R will have a great time tonight we shall have to have a full report....
unless we read about it in the sunday papers...lol...".Headlines man and woman found wandering in a dazed state, she was clutching some darts....answers to the name of Mo"....lol.... bless...

Hello All,

Mo, sorry I haven't had time to get on the computer today, just want to say hope you enjoy your birthday meal tonight. Yes, the children's television has changed a lot Mo, I watch them when Chloe comes here. I also play games on the computer that are based on the BBC programmes.Oh, I do have fun when Chloe comes to visit.

Jean, glad you had a good nights sleep last night. Did you get some lavender spray today? I wonder if your daughter used a bit too much, seeing that it gave her a headache. Ann said that it is strong--I don't know myself, because I've never used it.

Ann, do you know if one brand is better than another one? I might give it a try, as some nights I find it really hard to get to sleep.

Well, I'm going to do some more scrapping now. We went to Hobbycraft this morning, and came home with quite a few things, so had better get back to it. Scrap pages I mean, not Hobbycraft.

Thinking of everyone. Speak to you all tomorrow.

Take care!

Love, Sallie.xxx
