I joined Facebook a month or 2 back at the suggestion of a relative but I cant see why everybody gets all excited about it. There seem to be a lot of stupid comments added to it on my page, talking to each other and I dont know half of them. Huia.

Good evening everyone, nice to hear from you all. How did the boys get on Debbie? have you heard from them yet. Serves your OH right,if he had a headache this morning, going of and leaving you on your own,to get things sorted out for the boys big day, shame on him lol. No pity coming from this quarter I'm afraid. I hope you have enjoyed your celebrations today. Oh Grace, you are a one. All these gizmo's you have got. I only just know how to work this flipping laptop. I have never been on face book, even though all my kids and grandkids are on there. How long will you be in herne bay for Grace? Is it just for a couple of weeks,or are you staying longer? Not long till Maries birthday,I must not forget. It's o.k I am just reminding myself,it's nearly as bad as talking to yourself isn't it,writing it all down on here. Good to hear from you Huia, hope all is well in your part of the world. Love and best wishes to you all. Special xxxx for our Jean~~~~~~~~~

Morning all. Have woken to a glorious day here, hope you all have the same wherever you are. Now that DONGLE'S have become MEMORY STICKS I know what you are talking about!! I have to say that I was more than a little confused about it all.
The boys got off ok thismorning. Neither of them are competing till lunchtime so they have time to warm up and watch some of the other events going on.
Hubby woke with pounding headache after his snooker dinner last night, and promptly took himself back to bed. Serves him right, no sympathy from me or the other 2 children at all.
We have a bank holiday of sorts here today. 9th May 1945 Jersey was libertated from the German Occupation, so we always remember that day. The day starts with sombre and poignant church services and the like, then moves onto more joyous celebrations. So there is something for everyone, whether you want to reflect on the past or celebrate our freedom.
We have a lot of German fortifications over here which are maintained by various historical groups and they are usually all open to the public on a day like today. I never tire of looking round them as they are improved on annually and there is always something different to see.
So, from a Celebratory Island of Jersey, here's wishing you all a very happy and peaceful Saturday in your part of the world.

Yes Huia you are right, my husband has just told me, that a usb pen is a memory stick.
Thank you for your suggestion, I'm going to give it a try.
Sallie.

Sallie, I had that problem a few years ago. I found if I thought of a colour (green is a nice soothing one) and tried to fill my mind with that colour it seemed to block out other thoughts. Perhaps you could try to see if it works for you. Huia.

I suspect a usb pen is the same as a memory stick. Also called pen drive. Huia.

Hi All,
Thank you for the messages. Mo, my late mother took sleeping tablets for many years, the doctor also told her that they were non addictive, but she found she couldn't get to sleep without them. I don't want to start taking sleeping tablets because I have been taking anti depressants, off and on for ten years.
Debbie, you are probably right about the tea keeping me awake, the trouble is, I think that I am addicted to it. Ever since I started with depression, I find that I can't concentrate long enough to read a book. So I buy magazines, and read those instead. I hope your two sons will enjoy their trip to Portsmouth.
Jean and Marilyn I hope you are both well. Enjoy your weeend!
Sallie

Oh Sallie I do know what that is like. When I started the menopause, many moons ago now,I would go to bed so tired, and as soon as my head hit the pillow, someone turned the light switch on in my brain, and I would ne dog tired, but sleep alluded me. My doctor put me on sleeping tablets, the only problem is,I cannot sleep without them now,I have become addicted to them. The doctor said they were non addictive, but believe me they are. I hope the boys have a brilliant weekend Debbie Souds like you've had a busy day Marilyn, yummy scones, jam and cream sound just great,I bet theres none left for us though is there, oh shame on you boo hoo.You didn't save us some Yes we all want to know what this DONGLE is,I just hope it's not rude.

Hi all, have enjoyed reading the posts in the last couple of days. Sallie, tea keeps me awake, I always find a couple of chapters of my book help me to unwind enough to get a good nights' sleep. I bought a few short story books at a boot fair when we were on easter hols, and they are just enough pages to keep me going each night.
All well here. So sorry a few of you have had bad weather. Don't want to make you envious but it's been 18ยบ all day here and I sat outside having coffee with a friend thismorning, overlooking the beach and one of the castles. Bliss.
My eldest 2 are all excited for their trip to Portsmouth tomorrow, so were early to bed. We have to be up at 5 to be at the airport before 6am. Hubby is out at a Snooker dinner tonight so not much chance of him helping out in the morning. I'll do the airport run and leave the little ones in bed. They will start to jump up and down on Daddy from 6.30am onwards. Hope his head isn't too sore!!!!!
Hope all of you with various ailments soon have relief from them. I am sure warmer weather will be a godsend to some of you. It always makes you feel better psychologically even if the aches and pains are still there.
Oh well, off to bed soon, otherwise I won't get up in time tomorrow.
Best wishes and thoughts to you all. DEBBIE

Hi Mo, I've had a few bad nights. The trouble is, as soon as I switch the light off, my brain seems to switch on. So after twisting and turning for a couple of hours, I get up, make a cup of tea and see what's happening on here, until I start to feel tired . My husband goes to sleep as soon as his head touches the pillow. I do envy him, wish I was the same!
Best wishes. Sallie.

Just popping in to see how you all are, today.
It's quiet here today, not much happening.
The weather doesn't help, although it's quite nice now, we have had heavy showers throughout the day. Jean I hope your legs are better, and that you manage to get a good nights sleep tonight.
Mo pleased to hear that you are feeling better, apart from a chesty cough. If it will carry on, it might be an idea to go to the doctors. Take care!
Speak to you all soon.
Sallie.

Hello Grace, welcome back. Hope you are having a good time,at your son's caravan. Herne bay is not far from me. Have you got the high winds down there at the moment. I love the new look on the front down there. They have the bands playing in the bandstand,on a sunday during the summer months. I don't know if they have started yet. Mo xxx

Oh Jean, how insensitive am I. I am so sorry,I asked you to remind us,about Marie's birthday on Monday. And you have got the worry of J going into hospital that day. How could I forget that. I am so sorry. I do hope you have a better night's sleep tonight. There's nothing worse than having night cramps, and leg pains. Poor Dutch has had a really bad patch just lately. And she is a lady, who puts others first. There seems no justice in this world, when all the good people have to suffer, and the bad get away with everything. It is understandable, that J's worrying, but god willing it will be a good result, for him. You are both in my thought's and prayers. I am feeling a lot better today, but I have been left with a very chesty cough. It has been a very strange day here, weatherwise. First thing this morning we had very heavy rain, but by dinner time the sun had come out,we still have high winds though. I had to venture out today, the first time since monday. I had to get some food in,we can't live on fresh air, unfortunately. It was a culture shock,I am just glad I waited till this afternoon,I didn't really fancy getting wet. Take care one and all. Love and best wishes. Mo xxx
