evening all
staffing seems to be an issue all around here all our contracts are under review
there will be cut backs all round so we are waiting to see where the axe will fall
also B has been told they cannot afford to keep her on next year at school they would have had to given her a permanent contract .so many schools do this so she will be job hunting again for September .

Hi Maz :-)

My friend's daughter is a teacher and has just started maternity leave. She is having twins in a couple of weeks time. She wanted to go back on 4 days instead of 5, but it has been refused because they can't afford to take on anyone to cover the other day :-D :-D

Morning all

Enjoy your day out and about Maz. Although it it is sunny, there was frost on the roof at 6 am. Hope it's not too cold for you.

YG - I meant has it been recorded that *your* section won't be able to cope with the current staffing levels!

It must be worrying for A & B that their joint income is going to be halved. They'll probably take on a cheaper NQT.
J found it difficult to find a job in the state sector when she moved darn suff. She was up against NQTs or migrant/work visa Commonwealth applicants who'd accept a lower pay scale.
Currently she's decided to be a stay at home mum as she'd worked out she couldn't afford part time work and child care. Ideally she'd have liked a few days a week but that's not easy for secondary school teachers.

Unless there's a bit of nepotism involved, you've put so much effort into your work, it's unlikely you'd be affected. We'll keep our fingers crossed for you.

Det, what I find annoying, to put it mildly is that people being told they are going to have to work until age 70 - 80 to enjoy a state pension!!
People had been looking forward to perhaps retiring at age 60 certainly no longer than 65. Those who were fortunate enough to be in employment.
I see a big divide ahead been the haves and the have nots. And al the while a steady influx of immigrants of Islamic persuasion.

Some one might start another was to sort it all out??

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 17 Mar 2016 16:46

It's a thorny problem David. I'm one of the women caught in the escalated pensionable age trap. I was reasonably happy to be told I'd have to wait 3 years as it was something like 10 years until it happened. Then not that long ago, it was escalated so I now had to wait an additional 2 years. My friend same school year but about 4 months younger will have to wait until she's 66 & a few months, something like 15 months after I'm eligible!

We're all victims of our own longlivity and advances in medical science. When the OAP for men was introduced, further life expectancy was, on average 5 years. Now, assuming retirement at 65, you'd be very unfortunate not to celebrate your 80th birthday.
I do worry for people who work hard physically v at a desk; they may not be capable of working to the proposed later age, nor have the ability to learn a new more sedentary role......if one is available!

Although mass immigration may not be popular to those already living here, previous governments have welcomed it assuming the income and NI would help to balance the books.

Last century the western nations got involved in once in a generation major conflicts which paradoxical curbed population growth. For the sake of our children, I hope that mankind had matured beyond that, but have my doubts.
.....
Anyway, I had a bit of a worry this morning after receiving an email from Barclaycard. They said they'd sent me a new card....which I haven't received! Now that card has been cancelled + the original it replaced. Thankfully it's one I only use for on line purchases and occasional 'fun things' spending. Other cards are available. They all get paid at the end of the month anyway ;-)

Good points Det, Many generations ago the seventh age of man was senility or death.
These days it's not uncommon for people in their 50's and 60's to be diagnosed as
suffering from dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
It is a tragedy when the mind dies before the body.

Evening everyone :-)

Maz, I hope that B can find something soon. It must be a worry for them <3

Well I thought I had only one more day to work, but it looks as though I am deferring my leave for another week. I MUST take it w/c 28th though, otherwise I will lose it. I just have too much to catch up on that needs to be done now, not in 10 days time :-(

LG, I hope you come home with good results from WW :-) Another dress size down!! I wish I could be as motivated :-D

LaGooner Report 17 Mar 2016 20:44

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 17 Mar 2016 21:07

So does mine but the forecast for this area is not looking to hopeful. OH is off racing again so I was hoping to get out and do some more chopping back

David

David Report 17 Mar 2016 21:08

YG that would have been a big downer if you'd hoped for a few days away

YG

YG Report 17 Mar 2016 21:13

David, I'm not going away unfortunately, otherwise I would have had to take the leave next week. The plan is to do some spring cleaning, so nothing is hurting really by delaying, other than me being very tired and ready for a break. It's Good Friday next week though, so only an extra 4 days to work.

LG, I have just looked at two different 10 day forecasts and they are like chalk and cheese :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D It's anyone's guess what the weather will really be like!! :-D

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 17 Mar 2016 21:18
