Sorry to learn you're not 100% too many shifts. You need a holiday. Iv'e never been to Whitby. Wasn't it often used as a setting for the TV series The Royal and Heartbeat?

hello everyone else. Overcast today, but its milder.

Goathland just out of Whitby was the setting for the village scenes and it still has the Garage and shops with props etc from the series. Well worth a visit.

What a pity that Heartbeat finished. I used to love the series and the music!! We did the long hike in Goathland to the waterfall some years ago. Hutton le Hole is also another absolutely delightful village.

You are bringing back memories, Maz and LG

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 26 Mar 2016 18:56

Hutton le Hole is like stepping back in time, beautiful place as is Reeth where they do the best ice cream in Yorkshire :-D :-D :-D :-D

YG

YG Report 26 Mar 2016 19:17

I haven't been to Reeth, LG. It sounds as though I missed something there, especially the ice cream :-D :-D

It's a lovely village YG get a good meal at the local inn too. The Black Bull I think it is called. That was the place that the real vet Alf White AKA James Herriott spent his honeymoon. See I am a mine of useless information :-D :-D :-D.

Heartbeat had a good cast and good story lines. Can't understand why they axed a winner. Still plenty of repeats.
Maz you know Tynemouth. The Rex Hotel is up for sale..

Used to like PC Alf Ventice in Heartbeat.... ex commando don't you know ;-)

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 26 Mar 2016 20:10

I didn't like Heartbeat very much, I loved All Creatures Great and Small though.

Robert Hardy took a good in that. The various farmers were all good in character

LaGooner Report 26 Mar 2016 20:23

I loved all the books too and we have been to the real surgery in Thirsk which is now a museum. I love the character Tristram Farnham who apparently was a bit of a devil in real life too.

YG Report 26 Mar 2016 21:04

Oooh, LG, I absolutely loved All Creatures Great and Small. My Mum did too. If I could get a box set of it with Robert Hardy, Christopher Timothy and Peter Davison, I would be tempted to treat myself :-D :-D
