LG, you sneaked in this morning between posts and I missed you :-0 :-0 Sorry!!#

I have stopped for a late, long lunch break :-D :-D Food cupboards done, now just under the sink and the pan cupboard to do and the rest can wait.

It has started clouding over, half an hour earlier than they said it would and something is definitely heading our way :-( :-( :-(

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, surgeon, physician, creator of Sherlock Holmes
lost his only son in WW1
At that time there were many bogus clairvoyants preying on people's grief for financial reward.
Sir A.C.Doyle
said he would give £1000 to any one who could prove that his son had survived death.

There were no takers

My goodness, that was a lot of money then, David:-0 :-0

Not bad in this area Maz. We have countryside just a few minutes up the road. I just love the wilds of the North especially the moors.

YG

YG Report 27 Mar 2016 19:16

You'd have been alright in Wuthering Heights, LG :-D :-D :-D :-D

Admittedly, the North Yorks moors are stunning when all the heather is in flower. We have done that run regularly over the years to take a friend of my Mum's to visit her sister at Easington, nr Whitby :-) :-)

I've been a busy bee and have done all the kitchen cupboards, cleaned all the tiles and the appliances and cooked a roast dinner :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 Just the tops of the cupboards and the window frame to do during the week :-) :-)

We have had a lovely thunderstorm here :-0

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 27 Mar 2016 19:52

My word you have been busy YG. I have sat all afternoon knitting and sorting some more soldiers. We have had a bit of a storm earlier but nothing too much.

YG

YG Report 27 Mar 2016 20:00

I have enjoyed today, LG :-) :-) I was not at all motivated yesterday, but did finish all my ironing and sat down the rest of the time. I needed to get out of that mood, so I am really chuffed with myself today :-D :-D

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 27 Mar 2016 20:07

I have finally started knitting for myself this time. I am doing a chunky cardigan which knits quick but being heavy I cannot do it for too long as it makes my hands ache.

YG

YG Report 27 Mar 2016 20:25

It's years since I've done any knitting :-0 :-0 I used to do a lot, heavy cable knit sweaters for my OH, scarves and matching hats and sweaters for me, but I used to hate stitching them together :-( :-( My hands couldn't cope with it now :-(

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 27 Mar 2016 21:09

I am fine with the littlies bits but I don't knit big things very often as my hands can't take it for too long either. One thing I do like about knitting is it stops me snacking so good for the waistline :-D :-D :-D :-D

:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D LG

I ought to try it. It might help cut down the nicotine :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

I got carried away watching the Queen at 90 and then playing solitaire!! I haven't played it for years. My eyes are over tired now!!

I'm off to bed now. Sleep well, LG :-) <3 Catch you over brekkie, tea and caffiene!!

LaGooner Report 27 Mar 2016 23:14

I got carried away with research so you are probably nite nites by now. Catch you tomorrow, sleep well <3.

Good idea knitting to stop smoking too, done it and worn the hat ;-) :-D :-D :-D

Gosh Maz – they’re going to get a battering if they’re visiting your mum!
There’s probably a lot of the UK that we’ve all missed, even places on our doorstep.
It’s strange that as we live south of the Thames, we tend to go westwards rather than to the north, silly really; it isn’t as if we’d fall in and get wet!

YG, you stirred us into action today. Both food cupboards were emptied & wiped out. Bonus was that we found a bar of chocolate the lodgers overlooked when they moved out. ;-)

Can’t remember the last time I did any knitting. Actually, I think the needles went to a charity shop. Knitting rather than buying might be cheaper for children’s knitwear, but is it economical for adult sizes?

my wife's bridesmaid (donkeys years ago) was a knitter while he watched TV also bred budgies in the back yard of his home.

Wife has had a sore throat for days and a cough like a bark

YG

YG Report 28 Mar 2016 09:45

Morning everyone :-) :-)

More chocolate, DET :-0 :-0 Not a bit has passed my lips over the weekend :-( Pleased to be of help spurring you on with the cupboards ;-) ;-)

I haven't got a clue how much a ball of wool costs nowadays. All the wool shops here have disappeared so I wouldn't even know where to look for any, not that I intend starting up again.

I think oven cleaning is on the agenda today :-( It's too wet to go out to the shed for the steps to clean the kitchen window frame :-D

Tomorrow I have an appointment to see the consultant at the eye clinic. I haven't seen him for 3 years so I think he is wanting to check up how the new treatment is going. The letter says be prepared to be there most of the afternoon and these clinics are always really slow :-( :-( :-( :-( My appointment is for 3.30 so goodness knows what time I will get home :-( :-(

David, I hope you have got your nurse's cap on and are looking after your OH ;-) ;-)

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 28 Mar 2016 10:12

Morning all, Knitting wool is quite expensive unless you go into the Pound shops :-D :-D :-D. I am fortunate as I get quite a lot given to me by a friend who knows a lady who impulse buys big lots and never uses it. ;-). Hence the chunky one I am doing at the moment as if I had bought the wool it would have cost me a lot more than buying a ready made.
My kitchen cupboards need a good doing out too but I can't be getting inspired to do them at the moment.
I am lucky in that I don't like sweets and chocolate very much as OH has quite a stash for himself. Savoury is devil's food for me crisps and cheese being my worst tempters.

Hoping you wife feels better soon David coughs like that can really get you down <3

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 28 Mar 2016 10:29

Morning all

How fortunate to be given the knitting wool LG. Apart from buttons, it's costing you nothing but your time! OH has been hankering after an Arron jumper. Even though shop bought ones are expensive, the total cost for yarn would be more.

YG, at least you ought to be able to get a taxi fairly easily tomorrow as they won't be tied up with the school run. Good luck with the oven today!

Maz must be off to the seaside today. If its windy up there, the sea views will be spectacular.

Sorry to hear your wife is under the weather. If it hasn't cleared up after this time, is it worth her seeing her doctor?

We had v heavy rain over night, and high winds. I'm surprised we haven't ended up with tree limbs in the garden, or fencing panels down. At least our ridge tiles seem to be intact!
