Glad you had a good time Maz, and it’s just as well the rain dried up. There’s nothing worse than being trapped in the open when it’s horrible weather.

Good to hear you didn’t have too long to wait YG. Will they tell you the results at your next appointment?

David, when you do get around to filling in the Blue Badge forms, make sure you tell them what you can do on your ‘worst’ day, not your best. You’ll need a passport sized head and shoulders photo! That’s a good excuse for a taxi ride out, if ever there was.

Still playing with soldiers LG? Tsk, tsk. ;-)

Our ladies wot does session went well & we took advantage of their BOGOF main course offer. We both had mushroom risotto. (OH is only cooking for himself tonight and intends to have a spicy fix.) As she intended to visit the garden centre afterwards, we a mooched around together. She didn’t find what she wanted, although I did buy a replacement outdoors plastic mat to put in front of the patio windows. Him and me had looked for one sometime ago; at the time they were too expensive. This one is cheaper, smaller in size, but just right for our needs.

A good, enjoyable day, DET !! Well done with the purchase :-)

Maz, the pasties sound as though they were delicious :-) :-)

I'm not sure you are being pc!! Don't they have to be made in Cornwall to be called Cornish, nowadays, like Melton Mowbray pies and all the various cheeses :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 The world has gone mad :-D :-D

blue badges are being cut back on here you have to be measured for distance walking.

David

David Report 29 Mar 2016 19:29

Mobility wise I'm not good at walking, cannot without sticks.
My best so far has been to the end of the street and back, took ages.
Didn't know I'd need a photo Det

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 29 Mar 2016 19:38

It doesn't have to be one from a photo booth. You could get someone to take a photo on their phone then email it to you so that you can trim it to size.

The forms will tell you the exact size, glasses/no glasses etc.

Maz - it seem that most councils are cutting back on the numbers they issue. The in-laws almost bottled it the first time they applied. For goodness sake, they were both in their late 80's, between them had 3 knee replacements, one stroke and needed sticks! Not only that, the 'town' is in a bowl shaped valley - hopeless to walk miles to the shops from the 'normal' car parking spaces.

Yes still playing with the boys in Khaki DET.

thank you Det I didn't know I could have obtained it from the Civic Centre online
I was looking every where else.....then back to DVLA, then to Civic Centre on phone.

I never imagined I'd ever have the need
(and I apologise for being naughty) :-\

Good morning each
Having nothing better to do earlier this morning I was looking up the definition of kebab. Never knew it was Turkish and there's a difference between a doner kebab and a shish kebab. That rotating spit in your local chippy may be lamb, beef or chicken.. Think I'll stick with cod or haddock.

For some vague reason I then looked for local take always. Was amazed to find there's 24 pizza outlets not far from where I live and a plethora of Chinese, Indian and Italian take always. Do we, the British not make any thing that is our own?

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 30 Mar 2016 10:41

Morning all

We do make fish and chips David :-D
Most of the Indian takeaway meals wouldn't be recognised by native sub-continental Indians as they've been adapted to British tastes. The owners/chefs are likely to be British born. The same could be said for other 'foreign' outlets.
I do agree that many restaurant meals are a 'fusion' of other cultures although it is possible to order 'British' dishes, but rarely as takeaways.
Full 'Sunday' roasts with all the trimmings
Sausage & Mash
Liver & Bacon
Fried Whiting
Full English Breakfasts (all day fry-ups)
Cottage Pie
Hot-pot
all come to mind.

For some reason our smoke alarm went off just after 7. I kept my eyes tight shut & let OH sort it out :-D

Morning Det, I wonder why some call our humble chips French frys?
The work ethic seems to have left many, but not those who are immigrants or second generation immigrants. That's why they are prospering. All your corner shops and mini markets owned and ran by mainly Pakistani.
you would be hard put to find an English café (French word) that would be happy to deliver their meal of the day to your door :-)

Mazfromnorf Report 30 Mar 2016 13:02

Hello
chips are lovely they have to be real potato chips, the french fries are thin and crispy i seem to remember from my chef days
The pasties were made in Cornwall and sent up there its apparently a new food chain,
I have cleaned all my windows edges and locks today also the ironing and just done load of weeding in the back garden although its quite wet it means the ground is soft to pull the blighters out lol

Food? sustenance? Dieticians have made a science of it :-D

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 30 Mar 2016 14:59

We'd certainly think of McD in relation to deep fried potato 'Julienne'. Perhaps thats where the americanism entered our vocabulary?

LG - if this talk of food gets your tummy rumbling, your body might burn up more stored calories ;-)

Gosh, you have done a lot Maz. Hope you haven't tired yourself out.
