Oh dear YG. Poor R. It must be so painful for him. Will V be on hand to give advice re your outfit? It sounds just up her street.
At least your water problems, unlike Maz', isnt quite so urgent. It's a pity you don't have a neighbour you could trust with a key for the gas check.

Our boiler man seems to think a domestic boiler has a life of 10 years. We're coming up to that now. At the moment he can get parts to repair it. It's a bit like cars. You can keep fixing them until you've spent more on spares than a replacement would cost.

At my former address we had a Potterton fire with BBU
A bit like the old Glowworm Majorca and Baxi boilers.
It was 18 years old when we sold that house. It was still working but the man who did the annual service said it was working at 65% efficiency. No idea where he got the figure from.

We've recently had a combination boiler installed here. We were given a 7 year guarantee.

I was once at the market at Blyth. There were a few stalls selling second hand stuff, possibly house clearances? Any way there was one man had a lot of second hand books, and as I browsed I saw he had a lot of original Enid Blyton famous 5 books.
He was selling them five for one pound. He could of sold them for five pound each or more on ebay, collectors items

As a child discovering books I read two more Rachel Crompton's Just William
books, then I recall borrowing from the library some science fiction books. Then B9illy Bunter, then Jeeves. I then started reading newspapers. One book I recall scared the plug out of me. Dennis Wheatley's The Devil Rides Out.
Always fiction. I liked John le Carre, read a few of his. Since then almost all of Dan Browns works. All fiction, nothing too heavy.

Thank God I can read, a lot of people cannot.

Here's a cereal packet, David. You can have a read of that ;-)

I think I've read the Alice books although I did/do tend to skip over the verses. Strange how many of us like to scare ourselves silly with something like Dennis Wheatley. He's so tame & dated now.
Have you discovered the magical world of e-books yet? If you don't have a kindle, e-reader or Tablet, you can download them to your laptop or other device.
There are 100's of free downloadable books on Amazon, and probably on other suppliers as well.
When you come across one you really enjoy, think about posting a synopsis on

YG - it sounds as if you've been thrown back into the thick of it with a vengence! At least by doing the work at home you only had distractions of your own making.

Maz - I bet you're pleased everything is back on track before tomorrows shift. We forget how reliant we are on modern technology for even the simplest tasks.

The workload is certainly no better and my director, who called to see if I was feeling relaxed after my holiday, told me to keep 'relaxed' in my mind and asked if I was busy :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

I had been trying all day to get the minutes done with no chance! I managed it in under an hour at home ;-) ;-) ;-)

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 5 Apr 2016 09:51

Morning all

Goodness, Maz. That's just so wrong. It isn't as if the 'fix' had taken a week to fail. Let's hope this time they can make a permanent repair.

Sooo....on top of everything else, we now have to address LG as Madam Chairperson? ;-) :-D
It's just as well you were also Tea Lady; it would help keep your feet on the ground. :-) :-D

YG, rather than :-D :-D :-D in response to the Directors remarks, it's rather surprising you didn't think :-P :-P :-P

Would cornflakes have enough roughage? Mind you, it's probably better than a fry-up and possibly less fattening than porridge.
