Two houses before this one we had ducted air heating. The authorities decided to change these for combi boilers, except mine as was an owner occupier.

When every one else's warm air units were removed they were left along the kerb awaiting collection. I went from unit to unit and stripped them of parts. Kept mine going beyond what I expected by years.

well i am still here he is getting stuck in ,It is a process of elimination with these boilers
.David My father would have done that to keep something going.
DET i was quite impressed with him yesterday he was very thorough yesterday and as he got the recall he sourced the part that may be needed today on the way in and has been ringing round for back up if needed .

"Chief Cook and Bottle washer" - an insurance company worker asked for my occupation. He started to write that down :-D

Fingers crossed things get sorted permanently Maz.
David, you're lucky no one reported you to the authorities/police for theft ;-)

David

David Report 5 Apr 2016 13:06

Sounds good MAZ if its leaking the he ought to know it's a gasket.
I hope he solves your problem for you.

I stripped those units of parts because the units and parts for them
had been declared "obsolete"
I only use that word for parts when they are no longer in existence

Mazfromnorf Report 5 Apr 2016 13:18

Pleased for you MAZ even if he has wasted your time.
Enjoy the remainder of your day :-D

YG Report 5 Apr 2016 17:25

Oh goodness me, Maz :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| What a shame you are having to reschedule everything. I really hope that it is ok this time :-0

The council can access the wet wall and sort it without access to the house but it will be May before they can come and do it. I don't know how much damp will creep in before then! They are coming on 6th May when I have some leave to sort out the cistern :-(

I am a grumpy old woman tonight and could fall out with anyone and anybody :-( :-( A tough day at work, but at least came home to the pavement having finally been filled in and finished with another new dropped kerb for the disabled, only to find my neighbour driving along the grass verge and pavement in his people carrier with full trailer attached :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 I'm sick to death of him churning it up and a couple of the paving slabs are sinking at one edge near the grass, so they fill up with water when it rains and create a huge puddle. He drives through it and spreads the mud :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| RANT OVER :-(

Deep, calming breathes YG. Unless he's breaking a by-law, there's probably nothing you can do. Start stirring up trouble with or for a neighbour and he might do other things. :-0

David

David Report 5 Apr 2016 18:34

`
O dear YG that doesn't sound good at all.
Don't confront him, he obviously doesn't care.
Report the problem to your councillor and the
relevant dept at the Civic Centre. It will get worse and
it's costing money to rectify. Let them deal with it. :-0 :-|

YG

YG Report 5 Apr 2016 18:40

He's a nice enough guy really. He just drives me insane driving up and down and his wife does occasionally as well. When it's dry and the ground is hard, it doesn't damage the verge much, but when it's wet, it churns it up into muddy ruts along the edge and his tyres drag the mud across the paving slabs where I have to walk down to the car :-(

I've calmed down now, but might speak to the council. I am pretty sure it is written into my tenancy agreement that I can't park on grass verges, but he has bought his, so I'm not sure whether it makes any difference.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 5 Apr 2016 18:48

The pavement would be council property. They can 'do' him if he habitually by his actions spreads mud over it. Farmers are expected to take reasonable actions to prevent or clear mud etc spreading out of the yards to the public roads.

Evening all, had a very busy day and cleared my backlog of jobs from Archive and also home.

YG we have a policy on this estate of no parking or driving over verges. We have been requested by Housing association and council to send photo of the offending vehicles.

Mazfromnorf

Mazfromnorf Report 6 Apr 2016 07:47

morning all
the sound of nothing has woken me this morning so looks as if I can go to work,If I had not been at the other project I would not be able to swap over .
YG we had the same issue in the close where I live the council were so fed up with reseeding the area that they have put two small parking ares in covered with tarmac

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 6 Apr 2016 09:26

Morning all

Thank goodness the repairs seem to have worked Maz. When will you making up your 'time'?

YG, it sounds as if you need clarification from the council/HA and let them deal with the problem. If he really does own the verge, there are plastic mesh sheets he could lay on top to protect the ground. The grass grows up through the holes. It does look a bit bald, but spreads the vehicles weight so that the ground doesnt get churned up.

LaGooner Report 6 Apr 2016 13:53

Afternoon all, Back from my Belfry and shattered. Yes David loads of very old paper files but the soldiers are all going into nice individual plastic display books. It has just decided to pour with rain so no garden as planned for me :-|

David

David Report 6 Apr 2016 16:56

Hi Lg, I suspected they would be paper being old, have you and your OH
considered putting them all in files in the internet? A big job, but you only have to do it once. Then they are immediately accessible from any where. Just a thought. :-)

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 6 Apr 2016 16:59

Home ones are not too bad David. It's the Society Archive ones that are very old and dusty but they have to be stored as they are obviously although they are all scanned into a computer.

YG

YG Report 6 Apr 2016 17:50

Evening everyone :-)

Blustery here, but stayed fine all day until a few minutes ago and then a very short sharp shower. The sun is out again now, but it is chilly ...... brrrrrrrr :-D

I might speak to the council to verify. I don't think he owns the verge as I remember him telling me when I first move in 7 years ago that the council were going to take up the grass verges and make each one into a layby. They are only on one side of the road and a layby would be really useful as it would obviously widen the road. When the estate was built there weren't as many cars as there are today!

My friend's daughter is in hospital and twins births are imminent. Watch this space when we find out what colours to buy :-D :-D :-D :-D
