Maz - that's such good news that N's OH has got a job. That's one less thing for you to have to worry about. Who knows? It might turn into a permanent one :-)

YG - Are the new grandparents sharing photos of the family additions with everyone they can think of? :-D

YG Report 7 Apr 2016 21:30

I would think so, DET :-) :-) :-) I haven't contacted her this evening. She was at work when she let me know this morning, so she will have been at the hospital tonight and possibly this afternoon. There will be lots of people contacting her so I have left her in peace. Her daughter posted 2 photos on FB about 2pm. I will see whether I can copy and save them and if so, I'll send them.

Edit: No, it won't let me copy them. I'll ask her if she can send some to my phone then I can put them on the computer.

Evening all, just back from my committee meeting. Only just eaten tea so I will probably have raging indigestion at bedtime.

YG Report 7 Apr 2016 22:15

Evening LG :-)

A quick hello and goodbye as I am just preparing to shut down for bed. I didn't have a great night last night, for some unknown reason, and was up at 4.15am so am feeling a bit jaded now :-D :-D

Will catch you tomorrow.

Sleep well :-) <3

I apologise for prying LG

I'm becoming gormless. Haven't the photograph for the Blue Badge forms yet
No nearer buying my next car.

I'm paying into a funeral plan, have been since 1994. Have now contributed more than the plan pays out on death. Therefore each month they are receiving a premium from me that is sheer profit for them.
Heads they win, tails I lose :-\

LaGooner Report 8 Apr 2016 09:12

Morning one and all.

You are not prying David. <3. Me being me I would soon tell you if you were ;-). I am paying into a plan too and will probably end up in the same situation :-D.

Morning all
sleep shift today just getting my act together here ,seems ages since i was in the office so no doubt a lot to catch up on again ,we are short staffed and covering three schemes ,and until the council work out where the axes are going to fall jobs or care packages we are just doing what is needed .we think the jobs are safe ,but we will need to be even more flexible as we will be busier with smaller packages to fit the same job into .

Thank you LG <3 I have a will and also a Power of Attorney

I think in the event of my death my mortal remains will cremated etc and the funeral and cremation paid for from my estate.

That means this funeral plan is even more expensive. To revise my will is an easy task, but an expensive one.
The plan itself is payable on death, so, either way I lose the lot

:-P :-P :-P :-P

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 8 Apr 2016 10:47

Morning all.

My goodness Maz. That does sound bad. Someone along the line is going to lose out. Do they have a moratorium on hiring, or can't they find the staff?

David, are you getting your 'affairs' in order, or are you feeling a bit down in the dumps? Out of interest, would the residue of the funeral plan be paid into you're Estate? Think of it this way - your love ones aren't going to have to worry about finding the money or wondering what you'd have wanted.

We don't have funeral plans, but. We do have whole life policies. A lump sum was paid into a bond which pays the annual premiums. As its invested, even with todays volitile markets, there is a degree of 'growth'. It pays out into a Trust on the first death. Although it was set up to cover IHT, some could be used to pay for the funerals if our individual Estates wouldn't stretch to it.

Mum had 2 'penny' insurance policies taken out in the 1920s. The Tallyman used to call once a year until they decided they were. 'paid up' in the 1960s. Eventually I cashed them in. The proceeds of one was inherited by my aunt as the sole surviving sibling which I was really cross about. That was because the 'owner' was their deceased step-mother.

its a lovely day here the birds are all gathering their nesting materials .I think i will have to open the summer house up as it will be a nice place to hide during the mornings before work .
I have been gathering lots of little ornaments to go in there not expensive one but give lots of memories when i sit out and relax

I can understand your being vexed Det.
Whenever there's monies being paid after a death people just about come out of the wood work. My wife was the sole beneficiary in her Mother's will. Her younger sister came from the other side of the world to effectively contest it. Her younger brother (by adoption) went to London and hired a solicitor to block it!! Said there was a second will in Switzerland. The pair of them put my wife through an enormous amount of stress. Nasty people, and they don't like me. :-| :-| :-( :-( :-P :-P

David

David Report 8 Apr 2016 11:28

I hope it all works out in your favour MAZ :-)

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 8 Apr 2016 12:19

David - its a shame when a Will isn't honoured. If they end up contesting, they could, after costs, be be left with less than when they started.
From reading elsewhere, rather than cutting out a child completely, it's better to leave them a £1 with a brief explanation.

Maz- is the summer house the shed, or something else? It sounds as if you intend to turn it into a nice little retreat.

The peice of wood I laid over the hole under the shed has been moved. The critter is back! OH says it must be using it as its holiday home. We just wish we knew what it was.

YG

YG Report 8 Apr 2016 17:23

Evening everyone :-)

All this talk of wills and life policies!! You are a happy bunch today :-( I have a whole of life plan, so I won't benefit from it, but fingers crossed there may just be enough to see me off :-D :-D :-D

I have come home and vacuumed and dusted through as I am out all day tomorrow with R&M. Outfit and empty purse here I come :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0

I am going to have an easy night tonight with feet up as my poorly foot has driven me up the wall today. Me thinks another visit to the gp is necessary :-(

Maz, it is always difficult when cuts are coming. It seems that almost everyone in the UK is going through similar processes at the moment, even though the cuts come from other areas than the local councils. Everyone I talk to says companies are looking for staff to take on more for no more and with less resources and ours is a prime example :-0 :-0

DET, you know you are quietly pleased to see your critter back :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D Fancy wanting to disturb his/her holiday home. Maybe it wants to make a breeding area to keep the little ones safe ;-) ;-) ;-)
