Mr George Mankiewicz is I think Mr George Augustus Mankiewicz . He appears to be at some sort of boarding school in 1871 census and his father and mother were James and Ada Mankiewicz . Father James was born in Prussia and was a merchant. George is also shown as a commission merchant in 1881c so I suppose that could be another name for a stockbroker in those times? |

A George Augustus Mankiewicz died in the September quarter of 1909 in Amersham, Bucks.......same year of death as 'Uncle' so was he the 'Uncle' who wrote the letter?? If so, then he obviously adopted the child who then lived with him. |
