Moreton in the Marsh is where my Uncle Douglas was killed in the war .He was in the RAF and his plane crashed on landing .It caught fire and all the crew were killed.
I haven't heard of Batsford but I bet my Sister has.I think her OH works at Moreton.

Ros wants to go to Rutland on Thursday to cut Son's lawns before they come home at weekend !!! I said SOD that it's 100 miles round journey. just to cut some grass. They can do it next week., when they are home. Nobody comes to do mine, if we go away and I wouldn't expect them too.

Just finished two smashing books about the war and the good old days in the East End. Believe me they weren't. You wouldn't/couldn't understand the things they went through. in the 1800s. Bryant Mayes the Match people paid tuppence farthing a gross for woman and children to make match box's. Women having 13/15 children, and any that died would be left under a bridge to be found by others.!!! And we think we are hard done by.

You are right Frank it has turned a little chilly.I had to restart the pump again for the heating.I knew it wouldn't be long before it started playing up again.It is making a real racket.
I suppose before the days of central heating ,people just worried about the fire going out,which be could be re lit without having to call someone out ,and spending a fortune and waiting in all day lol

Another bright sunny day but definitely not sunbathing weather now, time to put all the summer clothes away I think.

Managed to get some bulbs planted with son's partner's little girl. Son said he would build her a raised bed next year so she can grow some veggies and salad stuff.

I have bought myself a cross trainer, it will be delivered on Thursday, trouble is it has to be assembled, what's the betting it will still be in the box at Christmas.

Back from dentist I take it everybodies aol must be ok then and its mine never had that trouble before.I do the run for the stroke and heart trouble folks one day a week last time it was pushing a lady in a wheel chair with no legs.the poor lady today had a stroke and had to lie down and have four teeth drilled. because her stroke stops her sitting .I would die having four fillings lying down. I said are you ok and she said oh that was awful I wanted to swallow and could not.

I kind of got bamboozled into stopping on Genes have two friends also on here and was sending a message and was told I could not send it I needed to update .So I did
and was not sure how long I have signed on for. I may have signed my life away.

York with Big Apple on the front signed Love Matt.
I had to pay £2 for the delivery .Poor Matt must have sent
it and it just got delivered. goodness knows where it had been. it said Hi mum and dad and crew see you soon
are we at yours christmas or our shack. .I felt really sick
and burst into tears. I cannot e mail anyone so going to

Sunny here but its been a bit cooler today

Just had a bit of a todo with some stewed Apple !!!!!

I put the apple on the hob to stew and hubby came home ,he wanted a cuppa so we went and sat in the conservatory ,i then wandered back into the kitchen and thought some things burning !!! i had forgotten all about the apple ,and it is all stuck to the saucepan , i quickly put some hot water in the pan and put it in the sink ,just lifted the pan and it's burnt the sink !!!! it must have been so hot!! ,i thought i had cooled it down with the water too.
I blamed hubby if he hadn't come home early and wanted a cuppa i would have been in the kitchen to keep my eye on it !!!

Now whats the best way to clean the saucepan ?? its back in the sink with Fai*y Liquid in it at the moment .

I would soak it Amanda I use a metal scourer but depends on your saucepans doesnt it what a thing I hate that burnt stuff
it is cold here you have to rub hard and my hands are not too
good with burnt pans

The times I've done that with boiling potatoes Mandy, put them on then the phone rings and chatting away, it's the smell of burnt potato that makes me remember them. I usually fill the saucepan half way up with cold water and squirt some bleach in and let it soak overnight.

Mums sister came today,. OH went and got her. Mum is saying strange things today, like, I was just going to put the cake in the oven. Did Joy cook your dinner?

I think she was glad to see her though. We did'nt tell her she was coming and OH went and collected her after work in Bideford and took her home later on.

Can't get mum to have anything today, not even a cup of tea. She has had a pill and waater only. A few sips even so often.

Sheila I think that must have been Matt saying thank you for being there. So you see he is still there with his family...................................and always will be.

I put some washing powder in the sausepan and bring it up to the boil and then let it soak. Have a bit of a scrub and then do it again and boil it for a while. It usually comes off in the end.

Mandy,I think I would buy a new pan lol.I bet the air was blue!!!

Sheila ,I can imagine the shock you had when the letter turned up like that.I would have been a wreck.

Mel ,that was nice for your Mum to see her Sister.Are they close?Would she stay with you at all?

Sheila, that was a shock for you getting the card through the post, its getting unexpected things like that ,that really hits you and knocks you for six !!!

Mandy, I've always found the washing power job, does the trick.

Hark at Money bags Jane, Just buy a new pan. LOL

I remember during the war and maybe after, if a saucepan burnt a hole in the bottom. They would put a washer type thing over the hole, and screw it through the pan. It would make it water tight again, and last for ages.

Turned colder now, Just going to get dinner dished up. Roast chicken Butternut squash, Roast Pots, Beans carrots and Broad beans.

I remember Mum burning a hole in the saucepan when she was heating up milk.I think pans were a lot thinner back then weren't they?My favourite pans are some I bought in France.Stainless steel ones .They are brilliant.

Do you remember there use to be a glass thing that you put in the pan when you boiled milk ,when it boiled the glass thing would rattle so you could catch it before it boiled over .
Its a lot cooler this evening , no heating on at the moment ,might need it on later though .

So your a tea man then David ? how many cups do you have a day ?

I must admit i drink more coffee than tea ,i love a Latte .

Just turned the heating off, sweating by B###s off, might need in on again when I go and watch the football, in the conservatory, Can't have it on in the lounge !!!!
