I've been on a boat holiday Mel. Just a few days on The Norfolk Broads. Lots of lovely waterside villages and the wildlife was amazing. The area was totally unspoilt. The downside...... It was freezing lol
Never been on a narrow boat holiday...but my brother has. He went with friends and they really enjoyed it. They said they met a crazy Australian Lock Keeper, who had just retired as an Air Steward. He kept them all entertained one eve with lots of Aussie stories, whilst they provided the food lol

The children next door have chicken pox..... I won't go there lol

Mandy I would have no idea how to debone a chicken .It came from Waitr*** ,and has a lovely coating of something.I think it is sunblush tomato,parmesan and herbs .Very tasty it is too.
Just finished and cleared away.I think I may have to have a little lie down now ,as we had New York Cheesecake for pud.That has just about finished me off !!

Shirl no mum is not eating only drinking tea. I have'nt given her her sickness pill today and she is not rambling so much. Seems to know what I am talking about a bit more. Yesterday she asked me where Frank was. My dad that is who died 31 years ago.

We have booked the holiday. It's the first one I will have had for 30 odd years. OH has only had a narrow boat out for a day with the fire brigade boys and he dos'nt remember much about it as he was too drunk!

I have never had a flu jab in my bottom, I usually have it in my left arm. Which reminds me I wonder if I should have mine done soon as I am looking after mum??

I have boned a chicken and it's not that hard. I stuffed it with frankfurter sausages and sage and onion stuffing. It was lovely and so easy to carve. Pretty too when you saw the slices on your plate.


Ann I asked my SIL about if children were taught to type properly at school and she said that they let them go along as they want to at first but there is a class for older children if they want to learn how to type properly. She always says I type fast but I did do typing at school and at my first job at the PDSA.

I see now you are all giving out your menu's. Following me I see.!!!

Mel, A boat holiday is brilliant. I use to go on the Norfolk Broards each year. when younger (and cheaper). Around here there are loads of Boat Hire companies. The inland waterways and the Canal systems. But you must have places more local to you. Hows Mum today ????

Ros's fried's husband is in hospital , just had a knee replacement. So I invited her to dinner for today. I know she can eat, so packed her up a massive meal, Roast pork, Roast Pots, Parsnips, brussels, cauli, runner beans, peas and carrots. Me eldest son would have struggled, but she cleared the lot, than had steamed syrup pudding and custard.!!!! Ros and I had half of what she had ,and still left some.!!!!

What a wonderful day we have had here, Sunshine all day, turning cold now, but you can live with that. Ros got all her washing dried, and ready for ironing tomorrow. My neighbour sat outside this afternoon, with a big coat on, reading the paper. it did look funny.

Well i didn't know that Frank !! we always say its Brass monkey weather , you learn something every day !!!

I am so full !!!!! the pork was lovely and tender, the little bit that i had !! as i'am not much of a meat eater ,but i love the roasties !!!
We had Bonoffee pie too, not home made though ,shop bought ...well i did say i was having a lazy day !!!!!

The boats look nice Mel, we haven't been to the Wroxham Broads this year ,we like to sit and watch the boats try to get under Wroxham bridge ,they have to get right in the middle of the bridge or they won't get through ,lots catch their boats on the side ,you hear an almighty crunch ,and everyone looks round to see whats happening , it's funny to watch them trying to moor up too ,lots nearly go in the water as they try to jump on the bank ,and you would be surprised the amount of Children that don't have life jackets on .

Mandy, Wroxham bridge is quite large compared to Potter Higham. I have seen boats take the windsreens off going through there. They just don't take any notice of what they are told about it. As I said before I use to holiday up there in the early 60s. And fish the Wroxham broad most weeks, as I was Stationed at Old Catton. 9 miles from Wroxham. The bus ran passed the camp gate.and an old chap who lived by the river Bure., would let me borrow his rowing boat, whenever I wanted it. I also spent many a NIGHT sitting tied up in the entrance to the Broad.
A piece in the local paper made me smile. A lorry driver saw a bridge sign that said "LOW BRIDGE" with the sign 14 ft 3 inches. When he arrived at the bridge it said 14 ft. too late he hit it. The highways agency say that they have it in hand to change the sign. IN SIX MONTHS.

Mel, Have just looked at the boat web site. What a loverly area to choose. The area around there is delightful. I am sure you will have a restfull time . are you going for one or two weeks, and what month ??? nosey bugge# aren't I.!!!! I see that three old people enjoyed there holiday all in their 70/80s. So you will be a youngster.

Where's our Jane. Last night she was Multi- tasking. Perhaps her BUM is numb after her injection, and can't sit down on a hard chair !!!!

Talking of bridges.Before they put up an electric sign that warns vehicles they are to high ,so many lorries and buses would get stuck under one of the bridges going out of Kettering.You know the one Frank on Northampton Rd.It used to cause all sorts of problems.
I'm watching the X Factor and then Downton Abbey.I must try and stay awake as I missed the end last week lol

Frank I feel a bit sick.Too much of that New York Cheesecake I think.

My Bum is fine thanks Frank lol,but I do need to go and have a soft seat now.

Mel it's ok I have read that part about starters again & I see I have slipped up there on my words, I had 2 peices of Melon and no Sofia for starters, though sometimes after I give her a bath she smells scrumtious all clean and powdered I could eat her up then.

Sofia actually for some reason was a bit picky tonight and wouldn't eat the melon but did try a bit of her dad's haggis( the men had haggis for starters) that did surprised us all.
But she had lots of beef & yorkshire pudding, all chopped up in little peices, she likes her meat, but will only eat peas as a veg, have tried her with carrots, sprouts etc, but just spits them out, mind you she will eat carrots & sweetcorn in a sauce with pasta.
Only just turned 1 and she is being choosy already tut tut tut

Yes Frank, Potter Heigham bridge is a bit tight ,the last time we went to Potter Heigham the broad had flooded across the road !!! thats a few years ago.
Will say night night now ,going to watch Downton Abbey, then off to bed .

Morning All,

Another dry one. Some sunshine on the way I think as it was a bit misty moisty this morning. Oh yes it has just come up and is shining into our lounge as I sit here in the kitchen.

The canal that we are going on is only 33 miles long but they have some wonderfull scenery along the way and plenty of nice riverside pubs for meals etc. It is all booked and confirmed and I am getting quite excited. We have the week begining 2nd May.

It looks lovely where you are going,and if you get good weather it will be even better lol.We have somewhere called Foxton Locks not far from here and there are many locks all one after the other.I can't remember how many but it is great to watch all the narrow boats coming through.

I was looking up a cencus last night and found what I wanted ,but I also needed the page before.But I don't know how to get it as it won't have the persons name on that page.How to do it Mel please?

Jane, I spent many a Saturday afternoon at Foxton. We would park in a gateway, and walk across the field to the locks, there are 10 locks. 5up and 5 down. it is a sight when busy. My first children loved going there on a nice summers day.

Mel, May should be a great time to go. The trees will be all fresh with new leaves, and spring flowers all around you. Do enjoy it.!!!!

Having a day of odds and sod#. Going to put covers over the Passion flowers, and less hardy plants. If dry enough will give the lawns another cut. The beggers won't stop growing.

Ros is off out with one of her friends, for a couple of hours. She has soaked the fruit in brandy, for the Christmas Cake and will make that this afternoon/evening. That will give the bungalow a nice smell of christmas.

No eggs from my chickens now. Had to buy some from Tesc#

Mel your boat holiday sounds lovely and I will be interested to see how you get on with the boat as I have always fancied doing that. I went with 2 friends on the Norfolk Broads as a teenager and we hired one of those motor boats......my friend drove it into the bank and nearly went into a yacht as well. We were nervous wrecks!!

I wish I had had my camera just now.Chester had disappeared off down the garden and I thought he was a bit quiet so I called him ,and his head popped around the corner of the trees down by the compost heaps.In his mouth he had a rather large bone !!!!!!.It looked quite a fresh one.I have no idea what animal it was from or how it got there.I managed to distract him by shouting
"BISCUITS" and he dropped it and came running.I then ran and picked it up quick and slung it in the bin lol

Frank get that nose out of the bowl !!!!! You will get drunk on all the Brandy fumes lol

Catie been trying to send you a message but the computor is having a funny day .I think the lady who was going to marry a muslim had a lucky escape.

My son in law is muslim and my daughter had the same convertion thing shoved upon her from the family and that was why no way she wanted to live in Tunisia but she had known our SIL for a long time they met on holiday my daughter married in Tunisia and everyone knows it was very funny but for me an ordeal the relatives were well lets say different. Circumsization of male children is another factor also religion praying 5 times a day and I am sure it works for lots of people but you have to have to really want to me with someone and our dear SIL adopted all our British ways apart from our religion and he goes to the mosque Friday morning and thats it. If children come along male children are much more wanted than females
although in our case there is no problem but you have to know what your doing such a lot to go into .My daughter took years before she would marry her ho . Being a solicitor she looked at all the in and outs regarding divorce and everything. Her ho could not get a visa at first and it cost a fortune to get him here and he must find £1700 to stay no dole and luckily Mos got a job at the University teaching French part time and at a main car park at night 5pm untill 5am a long shift counting the money. Before then my daughter provided everything.

No parents envolved now but not for the want of trying believe me Tunisa changed a lot of the rules giving women more freedom. Most of my in laws children are married to cousons. So you see I think that lady did right to cancel her wedding. So many white women marry muslims and end up with all kinds of problems but a lot marry and are very happy we were lucky our muslim son in law is fantastic but my husband is luke warm about the marriage would rather his daughter married a white guy
he oftens walks in when my son in law is praying and he says he is barmy I am used to it but did go mad when he stuck his feet in the wash basin to cleanse them.
