Thank you Ann and Vera we have had a very lazy afternoon, we were saying the day we got married was really hot as it was the summer of 76 .

Ann two programmes coming up we might like one on Sunday channel 4 eight o'clock called Our Yorkshire Shop A Victorian Restoration, documentary exploring plans to restore a derelict 1900's groucers shop in Masham North Yorkshire to create an elegant cafe and historic bakery ,starting by restoring the historic shop front .

And a new series of The Yorkshire vet At home with the Greens Tuesday channel 5 at 9 o'clock.

Mostly packed now for going home to my place tomorrow. No point going back to daughters when we are almost a quarter of the way home already.
Today we went to a huge centre called Saltaire. It is in what used to be a wooden mill started by Titus Salt late nineteenth century. Lots of rooms spreading through the mill on three floors. One room had antiques, one up market painting equipment and books, a huge room all full of good design China, glass cooking utensils cookery books etc. we saw so much I have trouble remembering. There was one display of IPad painting by Hock ey and I thought Ann would have liked that and a couple of really large mosaics I. Hallways.

Good to see you feeling better Gwyn hope that continues.
Vera, it feels good to complete a good clear out job, well done.
Mel Stu was obviously still feeling poorly if he was still in bed.
Ann your OH is a ,is ility I wonder how long before he forgets. You would have liked all the artist stuff.

Sorry, I missed you there Annx. What is your OH like? I think the next birthday present you buy him had better be a giant size pack of plasters. Lovely to see the hare. I don’t think I have seen one since we came to live in this house though we used to occasionally see them in the field behind our garden at our old place.

It’s rain, rain and more rain today. The app is telling me that it’s 16 degrees and feels like 11. It certainly doesn’t feel very warm - so much for flaming June.

Happy Anniversary Mandy and OH. Your rose sounds lovely. I hope you are having a relaxing day.

Good to hear you managed your walk more comfortably today Gwyn. You must be pleased to see some progress. Don’t be tempted to do too much.

I hope you’ve managed to save some of your strawberries Mel. Naughty squirrel, but you can’t blame him. I bet they smelled delicious.

Your week at Skipton seems to have gone quickly AnnG. Safe journey tomorrow. Will you be going back to daughter’s for a few days or is it straight back to yours?

~~~~~~~~~~~~ waves to Elizabeth. I hope you’ve had a contented day. Enjoy what’s left of it.
We went for our coffee meet this morning. It was a nice little group today, 4 ladies and 2 men. We shopped for some fresh veg and salad stuff before coming back home for a bit of lunch and this afternoon I’ve done a bit more tidying in the garage which doubles as a shed. When we had mice there they chewed anything that was chewable so there was plenty of.polystyrene, black plastic sacks etc all torn up and tatty in troughs and buckets and so on. We caught 5 mice and haven’t seen any more so I hope we’ve cleared them now. All the mess has now been tied up in a large bin bag and put in the general waste bin. Buckets and troughs have been cleaned and repacked with broken crocks and pieces of polystyrene to use in pots. I feel satisfied as I’ve been putting off doing it and now it’s done, even if it has left me with back ache.
Tomorrow I have another friend’s birthday lunch to go to. I need to wrap her present so that’s my next job and then it will be time to start getting our evening meal ready. A woman’s work is never done ;-)
Afternoon All,
<3Happy Anniversary Mandy and Colin <3. I hope you enjoy the day and the rose sounds lovely and will be giving you anniversary flowers in years to come. :-) I hope yopur knee was ok when you were shopping. It makes you a bit careful doesn't it!
AnnG we would have enjoyed the Bronte visit. I seem to remember a tv prog about the family and remember Bramwell dying of TB. You must have been fearful in those times if you developed a cough. You've fitted in quite a lot of interesting trips despite a few rain showers, so it's back to daughter's and you are packing now. It sounded like a lovely meal last night.
I'm not keen on much Bingo either Vera and would get a bit bored, but some games would be ok. The plasters have come out again! He was doing the same, trimming off bits of branch and scraped the back of his hand on a cut edge on the shrub and of course no leather gloves on again! I looked at him and said 'I have no words!' and he said he thinks he's learned his lesson now. Watch this space! He's mortified now as my leg has an impressive bruise where he bashed it, two in fact with a smaller one lower down where he hit it with the bin the first time.
That's good you are improving Gwyn. I think when OH had his follow up scan they said they could still see some remaining infection, but as it was going his body would see the remainder off without needing more antibiotics. I think you can expect to tire more quickly for a few more weeks yet though so remember to get plenty of rest.
Mel, poor Stu probably lay in if he's not been well. Did you manage to get some more plants? I went to the garden centre the other sid of the village this moning once the rain eased. It was taken over by the big garden centre just down the road a few years ago and gradually the prices have gone up to match it. They have also adopted the idea of making you walk twice as far to make sure you buy more (in theory anyway). I did find a couple of pots of those Cali......oa? There were three different coloured plants in a pot and £6 so reasonable and I'll put those in the front wall pots. I also got a few little white coloured trailling plants for a lime green pot too. I wanted some bright red Geraniums, but only tatty ones were left. I went to the little exit shed, was 6 feet away from the door but even that had been fenced off with a long aisle of raised planters to make you walk about another 100 feet and back along the other side to reach the till. On the way home I saw a Hare leap from the hedge onto the grass verge but his long legs soon had him leaping back and showing me the black at the back of his ears. I haven't seen one for years now so it was a nice surprise.
i can't remember whether I said the baby Magpies had fledged, but a few (3) have been back and sitting in the tree near their nest today while a parent has been fetching food for them. You'd think they'd follow their parents to see where the food comes from, maybe they will soon.
Have a lovely day and the rose sounds lovely. So nice to remember your special day when you see it flowering.
Gwyn I'm pleased your feeling a bit better and managed the walk without stops it means you're on the mend. Hope you hear about the scan soon its horrid waiting. <3
Iv'e been up the post van with a little parcel and popped into Stu's but he was'nt up so came home. Its that fine rain here that gets everywhere and is most uncomfortabel.
Pc says its 14 degrees and mostly cloudy but it feels much colder than that and I was tempted to turn the heating on for half an hour but thought no its June and I am not doing that so put another layer on.
I think I may make some cakes and that will warm the kitchen up at least.
Enjoy your last day Anng are you staying at daughters any longer or comeing home tomorrow?
Where's our other Annx?
Happy Anniversary Mandy and OH.
Your rose sounds lovely.
I look in frequently, but because I have been largely stuck at home, I have nothing interesting to contribute.
Yesterday, I managed a steady local walk, - not far, just round a large block, but I was pleased to be able to do that, as last time I tried, I had to stop about six times to rest.
Beginning to think that I have at last turned a corner.
Still waiting to hear about the planned CT scan appointment, which the hospital doctor wanted within 2 weeks.
Good morning all. Heavy rain here so when it clears a bit I think it will be fairly local indoor shops then an afternoon reading and packing. No problem as we have seen a lot I. The area.
Last night was our evening meal out at a pub five mi utes away. Had a nice meal, lamb hot pot with a huge selection. Of nicely cooked veg. Peas, broccoli spears, carrot, cauliflower. Then I had sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. We had two between the three of us.
Morning girls,
Dull and dreary this morning and it rained last night so I don't htink much gardening will be done today. I may move the strawberries into the shed so I at least get a few.
Its 13 degrees and pc says raining off and on. I have a little parcel to do up and get up the post van this morning so thats what I shall do first thing.
I did get the chickens house cleaned out in the end and it was going to be a quick job but it seemed to take me ages. I gave it a good sweep out and spray for red spider mite as there was load with this hot weather we've had and then I thought I will pick the strawberries as I had eyed up at least 10 yesterday and thought I would leave them another day. Bad thought when I went down there the squirel hade been in there ripped a hole in the netting and eaten nearly all of them and some that were not even ripe. I maznaged to save a few but he had bitten off some that were'nt ripe and of course the biggest ones had gone. I shall have to think of something else to ut over them or they may end up in the shed again like they did last year.
That sounds another interesting day AnnG and your afternoon tea on the canal sounded good.
Sorry to hear your knee is playing up again Mandy. I hope it will feel better soon. Try and rest it as much as you can.
You’re another one with a battered leg Annx after OH bumped you with the bin. I hope it’s not too sore. I’ll be calling you and Mandy the Hopalong twins, lol. You asked about the games night at the Ladies Group. They have had things like Bingo before which bores me rigid but apparently last night they had set out tables with board games and cards etc. There was also a quiz. About once a year they have a craft evening as well. It’s a way of economising a bit as speakers can cost a lot of money.
The weather has been funny today; mostly cloudy, sometimes coming over very black and occasionally sunny. I seem to have been putting a cardigan on and off all day long. Friends came for coffee this morning and I’ve tidied up some plants in pots this afternoon but don’t seem to have achieved much else today, apart from agreeing to make a cake for fundraiser coffee morning and to make a fruit cake for our local fete at the beginning of July. Why can’t I ever learn to say No?
The chap doing the work on the outside of our house rang to say he plans to start on 16th of this month. We’re aware that his mil is on an end of life plan and his bil is very ill so things could still change but it’s good to know he’s still up for doing the work and we’re not having to chase him.
Today we had a slightly longer drive to Howarth. There was a very cold wind when we left the lodge but the sun was shining. Just on the front doorstep there was a tiny little grey wagtail, quite tame too. Normally there are just a couple of young squirrels out there. Not a lot of birds. I. Howarth we visited the Brontë parsonage and museum very small rooms in the house but a lot of the original furniture etc and particularly in Branwell’s room there were a lot of papers and notebooks with poems and other writings on them.
I actually did not know that two girls died when they were ten or eleven. Maria and Elizabeth. They would have been the eldest children.
I had also not realised how young they all were when they died.. Emily of typhoid, then Ann then B.ranwell Then after marrying and being pregnant, Charlotte died. Their mother had died when they were young children after having Charlotte
We looked round the church and also saw the school that the girls started by the Parsonage.
Afterwards we intended taking our lunch near the canal at Bri kley but there was nowhere to park so, as we were near we drove to Riddlestone Hall where they have a picnic area.
Afternoon Everyone,
It's been sunny and a bit breezy here. I was up early and decided to clean the microwave and hob before it got too hot and knew motivation would go if I left it till later. We decided to go and have Morrisons poached eggs on toast then and I bought a few bits while we were there. I don't like the way the shop is laid out now with barriers everywhere that make me walk further. No doubt shoplifters are the reason! Also they put bits of the same kind of food in different places now, so you think they haven't got something, but it is positionned elsewhere. Despite both of us looking I couldn't find any hand cream.
After a COT when we got back, OH went for a walk and I went to the garden centre I got the plastic baskets from before as I needed two more. Isn't it always the same, they had some different ones now with different sizes, but I got some a similar size and will try them later. I also got some cards and some strong weedkiller for the drive. I was hoping to get some million bells for the front wall pots as the storms have just about finished off the Violas, but all they had was Petunias and they snap off in the front wall pots in the wind. I'll have to look elsewhere for some.
AnnG the trip on the canal boat sounds great and with a nice tea as well. Was the boat covered in with windows you could see out of?
I often find I hurt my knee again when I've already wrenched it Mandy. As you say, you will just have to rest it some more till it settles. We don't bounce back so well anymore.
