Nearly time to say good afternoon, 5 minutes to go :-D raining here off & on, hope David is more comfortable today.

there's not much going on here this morning , done a bit of ironing and washing, had a shower, enjoying the slow morning as I was out Tues morning & Wed morning so am taking it easy today.

Neighbour just knocked on back door, telling OH did you know your car window is open slightly, watch the rain doesn't leak in , OH must not have put the window up full yesterday when he locked the car. :-S

Evening All,

Thanks for letting us know you are ok David......that's another thing over with now and you can rest and recover again. Don't go falling off your crutches though :-0......you don't need any more setbacks. When you get home you could do the same as Frank and write your memoirs! :-) It could keep you busy for quite some time while you are healing.

Frank, I think your 'memoirs' is a great idea......I bet young Lewis would like to read them. ;-) Thanks for the offer of a 'bust' but my own is quite adequate....lol!! Sorry....couldn't resist that!! It's a very kind offer, only I bought a few black ones when I got some gift boxes locally last year. I only went for the boxes but the chap gave me a discount so I picked some of those as well.

William, I see you have more additions for your garden.......there must be quite a family out there now. I keep meaning to get some fairy lights for outside. Yes, it was the Avoncroft museum...you are spot on.

Oh Mandy, that must have been a shock.........it's a good job you weren't collecting them from school :-0.....so easily done though!

We got a nice shower of rain this morning so I was glad I got my new wall pots drilled and planted yesterday. I just need OH to drill the wall to hang them now. I also picked the last of the runners and packed away the patio table and chairs.......summer really feels as if it is over now.

OH got the results of his scan and has slight osteoporosis, so he was glad I had badgered him to be checked out. (only for about 3 years!) Now they want to just do some further checks so he had another blood test this morning. He hates needles as well......but he's also booked in for a flu jab tomorrow....another needle! Then he still has to rebook his dental appointment, but I haven't reminded him of that yet.

I went to the big retail park at Grantham this afternoon, no sign of rain there........and bought my first Christmas card.....for OH. They have some nice cards there and cards for men can be pretty dire in a lot of places.......all beer glasses, rude noises and golf clubs!! I'm determined to try and get ahead with Christmas things this year.

Yes Mel, they still use the district code, I have a friend who lives in Wimbledon and it's SW plus a bit extra. Same with my son who lives in Lewisham, South East London - SE plus his postcode. Nice to know some things stay (almost) the same. I knew Leyton, Leytonstone, Redbridge, Gants Hill, Manor Park, you name it, I've been there at some time. Carmel had a ex school pal who lived in Wanstead, just off 'The Flats' as the common was called. And I was in Whipps Cross hospital as a baby.
We lived in Cedars Road, just off Water Lane, with the library on the corner. That was until Adolf made sure we moved out in the 1940 blitz!

Morning all/Evening Kim.

Thanks Mel, we have some rain here today. Passed it on I see :-D :-D

Will, These memories just don't fade away. Of all my family that have passed away Mum, Dad, Jim, Jack , Clara ,Bill and my twin sister. The memories are for ever with me, from the clip round the ear from Mum, to the squabbles with my twin sister. They are all something to think about when lying in bed, trying to sleep. They are something I hope never leave my brain. I keep promising myself that I will write my Memories for my descendant's to look at in years to come. I think I need a Ghost writer. ;-) ;-) ;-)

When's our Jane back ??? Was she going for one or two weeks. ??

Poor old Conrad. He decided to move to another apartment, with a balcony and small garden. He only looked around it briefly , and moved in on Monday. He found that it was so musty and smelly that it bought on his hay fever/asmah. (sp)
So he packed everything up, and moved out at 4.00 am Tuesday mornin9g. He spent the rest of the night in his office, and moved back into the old place yesterday. He has now got to start looking around for a nicer place. The problem is the area is very Spanish, and most apartments are old neglected.

Morning All and Evening Kim,

William good old stratford E 15. used to pass through it on the way to
London in my younger days. Lived in Redbridge when young. Can still remember the ride through Wanstead, Leytonstone, Leyton etc. Had rellies in Leyton E10 I wonder do they still use the E things with the lastest postcodes??

A change of photo today as it would have been my Big Brother Fred's birthday today. My only sibling, four years older than me, I like to think that he still looks over me as he is doing in this photo taken circa 1935 in Stratford, East London.
Although he has been gone many years now and I never saw enough of him as he lived in Hornchurch, I don't think there is ever a day goes by that he's not in my thoughts.

William Report 1 Oct 2013 19:29

Have just sent out an email with photos attached, I've pasted the message from it below.

Here are some photos to keep you up to date. The sky photos were taken a week last Sunday. There were two aircraft vapour trials crossing each other. You can see how they spread, then how, half an hour later, the setting sun had changed the whole scene.

Latest additions in the garden. I found the owl in a charity shop and he measures about 4" tall. The ladybird sticks on the window with suction pads and on the reverse is a thermometer so you can see the outside temperature from the inside. That's about 6" and I found it in our local Ald* for 99p in the sale items.

Hope you enjoy these few items.

William

Ann, where did you take the photos in your email? It reminded me of when we went to Avoncroft Museum many years ago.

William

William Report 1 Oct 2013 16:38

Hi again - We have just come back from our little town to find a message on the phone from Sp*csavers to say my new specs are ready! I'll have to call in for them tomorrow. My eyes didn't seem right to me so I had a test and surely enough there is a bit of change in my near sight. The ones I use most, bi-focals have now become hybrids. Last year one of the arms broke and they hadn't got an exact match so they replaced it with one that looked totally different. It didn't bother me, I only have to 'look out of them' - not look at them. Then last week the other arm broke and they replaced that. So - at least I will have a totally matching frame this time around!
I have three pairs of glasses, ridiculous I know, but I have one set for when I'm using my computer (they stay with the PC), another pair I use for driving which are reactorlites (as I'm light sensitive) , then my usual ones which are now ready.

Yes Ann, our grandson Craig is very close to us. He is the eldest and we were with his mother when he was born premature. He looked like one of T*sco's mini chickens at that time, you wouldn't think of it to look at him today. He and I have been lots of places together and both share the model car and real scene. He now has a motor scooter and is very pleased because I used to drive a Vespa scooter many many years ago. In fact I've still got a licence to drive motor bikes, can you imagine?

After all these years since I've lived in the Midlands I still sometimes drop in a Cockney pearl from the past. I was looking at a fancy box of perfumes that Carmel had on the dressing table. I said, "Is that the new set you've bought - you'll be smelling like Lady Dunabunk" That was an expression my Mum & Dad used to imply someone was posh! I wonder if Frank knows that one? Carmel also has little Irish sayings too, and I've picked up many of those over the years we've been married. I love colloquial sayings and terms, it makes things so rich.

Let's hope David got on alright at the hospital today and with his transport arrangements.

I too hope everything goes well for David today.

Ruby that would have been the picture of all time had you caught it on camera. I thought you were going to say that she asked you what they were doing. I member atime when my son when small asked about something like that with two dogs and I just told him one was giving the other a piggy back.

William it will be good if the tablets work for Carmel with the headaches. I hope they do give her some releif.

Had callers this afternoon so hav'nt been on much ad have only just read all your posts.

Roast lamb tonight as oh wanted a chilli yesterday and I was tired after shopping so did that instead of the lamb. Much quicker.............

Better start getting it all ready for hte oven .

Afternoon all,

Ros has had two lines of sheets out today, one lot all dried the other still blowing in the breeze.

She has been to Tesc# for some bits and bobs. I had put down on the list D. W . .SALT She didn't know what I meant so bought table salt and cooking salt. I WANTED DISH WASHER SALT> :-D :-D :-D

Ros did bring fresh cream cakes, which we have just had with a cuppa. Mmmmm

Ann, It seems that the P.O. sell off is attracting a lot of interest. I haven't bothered with shares since my Ex wife worked in a Stock Brokers in the early sixties. Then with a few tip offs, I made a few bob. Wouldn't go far today ;-) ;-) ;-)

Still dry here, but turning chilly in the breeze.

Have been following the programmes on BBC 2 in the afternoon. One is the INDIAN OCEAN followed by ELEPHANTS. and then the PACIF OCEAN. Very good when I can only sit around. I think it's on all week.

Afternoon All

Hope David is ok today,

Been out for coffee with my friends from Nursery, still say that even though nursery closed about 5 years ago. but it's easy that way, as my friends that I meet on a Wednesday are from Church :-D :-D we had a good natter and have arranged to meet up again in Dec for a christmas lunch.

Weather has been good today for me anyway, a little sunny with a wind which saved me having to wear my sun hat, I have bought a wool crochet ? tam which will keep of the sun of my head but not thick enough to make me too hot. after all look a bit daft waltzing round the town in a sun hat in Autumn time ,

I was wondering what to watch now that LONG LOST FAMILY Is finished and WDYTUR has come to an end. I have been watching Mr Selfridge, and I really like Tony Robinson in Time Team.they do find some really interesting historical sites,

Morning all/Evening Kim,

Still dry here, but rain is expected tomorrow or Thursday. I see the rain is still down the South West. Poor old Mel.!!!

Ruby, That must have been quite a sight with those geckos :-D :-D :-D I bet you won't get another change to take a photo like that.

Ann, I am still bidding on the bead loom. It ends tomorrow. so fingers crossed. !! I don't know if you would be interested, but I bought some jewellery busts for Ros. They are 30 cm high in white. I had to buy FIVE even though she only needed one. I have put the others on eBay. But if you would like one I can arrange to send it to you ??? Please let me know.

I spoke to Valerie last night regarding a memorial for SID. We have decided on a Japanese Flowering Cherry. which is in a 8 litre pot, so can be planted when she wants to and where. She can keep it watered till she ready to plant. I will also donate a few of each of the bulbs, she can put them around the base of the tree.

I went to the pub last night with Tony next door, who took and bought me home. We raised a glass to Sid. as he was always there for the Monday football.

Leg is still playing up today, now have pain going down the outside of the leg to my foot. I can feel for David as his must by 1000% worst . Do hope things go well for him today.

Morning All,

Where are you all?? Sunny here at the mo, but there is a slight chilly wind that should dry my towels nicely. :-)

I've just put the new tax disc on my car......glad it's done as I get it in advance then always worry I might forget to put it on!! OH is much improved this morning and went to the docs ok, but has discovered both his front sidelights have packed up now, so that's another job to do! The car he has has been brilliant.....apart from regularly eating lightbulbs!! :-S

Off to the carvery soon and I'm wearing the bracelet I finished last night as it's red and dark grey and goes with the black top I am wearing!

I decided to apply for a small amount of Royal Mail shares last night............do you think they are a good bet Frank??

BBL. :-)
