Have just spent the last two hours catching up with correspondence to old friends. We try to send each other Emails every so often.
I see you Mum is about the same age as William and me Fiona. No wonder you are a spring chicken lol :-D :-D Do hope the wait doesn't last to long for her operation. Why is it the whole world STOPS when these consultants go on holiday ???
Mel, any sign of the HOGS today. I know they tend to come out at night, but you never know. !!!
Mandy, My Harvey is the same with cleaning out his truck. ONCE IN A BLUE MOON, The stuff he collects in there is nobody's business !! Receipt everywhere, papers weeks old, tools spread all over the back seat and in the seat wells. I often ask him "HOW do you know what's where." he says I do !!!!
It looks like another nice day tomorrow. I will have to see if I can make some holes in the garden and drop some of these bulbs in. I am getting a lot of looker's on eBay, so I hope to get a few sales, then I will have the packing and posting to do. No peace for the wicked ;-) ;-) ;-)

Ann Mother in Laws health is not improving at all infact she doesn't get out much at the moment She is still waiting for a date for her operation, Her consultant is away on holiday this will be her third week away , so all her operations are on hold till she comes back, you would think there would be someone else who could perform the operation but seemingly not, Mum is really depressed just waiting and waiting. it's not fair at 78 years old she shouldn't have this to worry about. All she keeps getting told you are on the list. :-| :-| :-| :-| :-|
Well I am wondering what to have for dinner , just me to think about, no point in cooking a lot when there's only one, will go and have a look in the fridge, may do a baked potato with ham and some veg :-) :-)

Afternoon All,
No email or pic from Jane received Mel. :-S
I wonder if the hedgehogs have gone off scouting for their winter sleepover places. Yes, I couldn't resist picking up some conkers that were in the hotel carpark we were in yesterday. I'm the same with sticky buds in spring and catkins.....just have to touch them! :-) lol.
Glorious and sunny here too. :-) OH has gone to a match at Gresley so I'm tidying up my beads so I know what I need when I go to the bead sale at Dunchurch Village Hall tomorrow. After we've been there we are going to the buildings museum at Bromwich. They take down and re-erect old buildings that are going to be demolished. They have a working old windmill, a prefab, perry mill, toll house and counting house and the cell block from a magistrates court and other buildings. There is also a collection of telephone kiosks and other memorabilia. It sounds the sort of thing we like to go and look at. :-)
I hope your OH's visit to his mother cheers her up Fiona. Is her health better now? I can quite see your point about sleeping elsewhere when you have disturbed nights.
Frank it must have been encouraging to hear from the people who had had succesfull knee replacements. As you say, when you overuse another bit of your body to help, that bit then starts to protest!!! What a nightmare for your neighbours having to have the garden dug up. I think you have to pay for the repair if it is found to be on your land as well.
I will see if I can email you the photo competition winner that was in the paper.

Afternoon all,
Another lovely sunny day here again, the wind is a bit blowy but we still sat out and had coffee this morning and it was so warm !!
Thanks Mel for passing Jane's photo on , she has a nice view of the canal with passing gondolas, hope she has a head for heights if she's going up a tower !!
All those lovely photo's you have taken Ann and i bet you sent some good ones in and they pick one of a blooming old FLY !!! :-S :-D
The conkers do have a nice shine to them when they first fall , my friend puts them in the corners of her room !! they are suppose to be good at helping to keep spiders away !!
Fiona thanks for the photo's of Sofia , my word she has grown up , and two birthday cakes too !!she was a lucky girl :-D
Hubby is washing his van !!!!! not something that happens very often .....think i should mark it up on the calendar !! :-D :-D

Morning all/Evening Kim,
Thanks for the picture Mel. Looks a nice place overlooking the Canal. (HOPE SHE DOSN'T FALL IN) :-D :-D :-D
Home alone this morning, Ros's out with Martine. While she is out she will buy some flowers to drop into Valerie (SID's WIFE) We weren't able to send flowers to the crematorium, so put money in the HEART FOUNDATION BOX, We thought she might like a nice display to brighten the room up.
Wonderful day here again, Blue sky's and a little Autumn breeze. This can last till the end of November for all I care. <3 <3 <3
I'm sitting here is my shorts, waiting for the match to come on BT sport at 12.45 SPURS V CHELSEA. London derby.
Glad to see you about Will. Hope Carmel gets on alright with the Dr.
Pity about the HOGS not showing Mel, where the devil could they be. In the orchard eating apples ???
I didn't use my crutch yesterday, just my stick, but using it to take the weight of my body, certainly takes it's toll on the arm and shoulder.
Neighbour 2 doors down have trouble with a water leak. There are two vans 4 men NO another lorry has just arrived with a digger on the back and two more men. They are digging up her front lawn. !!!!

Maureen I have sent you a PM.
I bet you are pleased with your curtains now they are up. Sunny most of the day here and very warm, but it got a bit windy at teatime.
Nice to hear from William and via Mel too......hope he can keep Carmels spirits up and get a few things sorted out shortly. The photo competition results were out today.....no win for me but the winner had sent in a good pic and it was also an insect.....a fly!!
Frank, it does sounds as if what happened to Sid would have been quick, which is a blessing as you say. You did well to get to the funeral with your poor knee. Glad it all went well and that you had a good chinwag!! Well done for sorting out the tulip pic.
Mel, your OH's hand must be sore with a cut down the palm......not easy to drive with! :-S
Some of our Fuschias have started losing their leaves......autumn is galloping in and the conkers are all coming down. Such a shame they don't keep that nice shiny brown colour.
Off to bed now......I seem to be sleeping better lately than I have for about a year!! :-)

Evening all,.
What a beautiful afternoon we all had. If that's the right words. The service was excellent and the pastor chap was very good with his address. The Crematorium was so full there were loads of people standing and the back.
Sis had had a massive HEART ATTACK before falling in the lake, so it might be a blessing that he didn't drown.
We all went back to our local pub, for a bite to eat and a few beers. I meet people who I haven't seen for years, so had a good old natter. It's funny that at funerals, to get chatting like old washer women.
We came home about 6.15 pm after saying our goodbyes to the family and friends.
The knee played up during the service, which made me give out a yelp. But I don't think anybody noticed. :-0 :-0 :-0
Good to hear from William, and hope he can find time to keep in touch with us.
I have met three people this afternoon who have had KNEE replacements, and all say how well they are now. !!!
Might go and raise another pint to SID tomorrow, if Tony my neighbour can take me down and bring me back.
Goodnight all sleep tight.

Thanks Mel, for saving me a lot of writing by reproducing my mail. I'll try to write a bit for you all over the weekend. I forget to say that the appointment with her GP is for Monday afternoon, it's the earliest should could get. She is lucky to get one that early for this particular doctor as he is in demand and I think the best of the Drs in our practice. We shall just have to see what he advises, but I think the hospital has just lost interest. When you first go they are going to cure you, then when that just doesn't happen, they side step and want to forget you. That's one thing about our GP, if there isn't a fix, he tells you straight to your face.
Moan over. I'll get back with some more info from here in the next couple of days. I can assure you, I haven't forgotten any one of you in the past days. Ann's photo was brilliant, and she should win prizes with her photos. And as for Frank, well mate, your emails with all the gags (this goes for Shirley's latest too) keep me sane. Keep em' coming.
Chat soon -

I have permission to post William's letter.
Hi Mel, How nice of you to enquire how we are. Many times I've going to add something from us on the thread and each time I either get interrupted or think that it's been so long where do I start. Then I'm daunted into writing anything. Since the builders were here and put the new roof on our utility room, I just don't seem to be able to catch up with anything properly. My den here is in a mess and I just don't seem to get round to tidying it. My projects are falling behind and I just can't seem to get up to speed. The ceiling in the utility room needs renewing and we are trying to get some quotes from plasterers to do it and not add too much to the bill we've already paid. Winter looms on and these jobs need doing before then. Carmel is getting very depressed because of her continued headaches and sight problems caused by the former. Therefore I have to make sure I give her my time anytime she needs it. The hospital in Coventry seem to be messing her around as we keep phoning to find out when she can see the consultant, we get promised of phone-backs which don't come. At the moment she has an appointment booked today, to see her own GP to see if there is anything else that we can do to get her some reliable treatment. I feel like I'm treading on eggshells here at times and she goes out rarely now and then under sufferance. I tell, her she must go out and it's as easy to feel unwell out as it is in. So that's my situation, excuse, call it what you will. I've a couple of nice sunsets photos taken last Sunday (see how behind I am!) which I will email out to one and also and at the same time I'll put in my apologies to the group. I'll leave it there as Carmel's daughter is here this morning, that might cheer her up a bit. My best wishes to yourself and everyone else - William I haven't even looked in on the thread to see how everyone else is so I suppose that's a bit remorse of me. I must make an effort over the next day or so.

That's a never ending job clearing up the leaves especially on a windy day , i noticed the leaves on the Ash tree in front of the bell tower of the church are really turning yellow now, it won't be long before they start falling and the other trees in the churchyard have lost that shiny green look !! they all look so dull now .
We have a nice sky out there lots of pinky looking clouds !!

Mandy I hate days like that. At the mo I seem to be doing a lot of clearing of the pond of leaves because it is quite breezy here today and my red tree near his pond is losing its leaves now. then there is the other small filter to clear out twice a day too. You have to lift a heavy box of water to get the fine strainer out.
I have now got to wash up allthe hedgehog bowls. I hav'nt seen any for two night, food still there in the morning. Hope they are ok.
Roast loin of pork in the oven and smelling nice. Think I will do some cubed raosties with rosemary and flaked salt on them and runners.
