Morning all/Evening Kim'

I have never heard of CHILLY SAUCE FLY TRAPS Mel. I can see why he hasn't caught anything. :-D :-D :-D

We have been lucky, we have only seen a couple of wasps. But the blue bottles seems to come from nowhere, and the fly spray is in constant use. It could be because of all the doors and windows open ;-) ;-)

What's so funny about me sitting in my u/pants with a cold drink then ANN AND JANE ??? I didn't spill any :-D :-D :-D Have just re-read my post, I can see what you mean now CHEEKY LITTLE BEGGERS !!!

Mandy, I expect you are on your way now. Hope the weather clears for you this afternoon, and you got to see all the animals. and the children enjoyed it.

Yes Jane, Wet, Wet, Wet. All Ros's hard work yesterday looks wonderful.. Not a weed in sight, and fresh turned earth, after this rain, it smells like a spring morning out there. Be careful I might break into song " OH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MORNING"
I do love the smell of the garden after a good rain.

All showered and shaved. Got shorts and short sleeved shirt on this morning.

I don't fancy the cucumber soup, I am not a cucumber fan, I don't know why I grow them. I give all of them away. <3 <3 Wish the blooming tomato's would start to ripen, we are still having to buy them !!

How's our David this morning ??

Where's Will, and Pat. ??? Hope all's well with them.

Morning Jane and All and Evening Kim,

Raining here again today and everywhere looks very wet. Two lots of washing drying indoors now!! Reminds me of last year.

David I hope Fifi is getting along ok after her op. They always look like they have had a chunk bitten out of them when they have been spayed but it soon grows again. Did the vet have any homes for the kittens?

I can't beleive we are at the end of the week again!! Where does the time go? August seems to be racing past as we are half way through already.

Nothing planned here for the weekend, but next week it is BIL and Sil down for a few days again. Oh's youngest sister, hubby and two children so I must have another good clear up.

We have been plagued by those little black flies again and normal flies and wasps. There must be a wasp nest soemwhere near the bungalow. We have had them on the bungalow back and front at times but we can't see and activity there this year. Must be in the bank alongside the orchard but you can't get out there now for the nettles that grow there. We have a whole line of wasp traps (jam jars) on the decking rail. They have mostly jam and sugar and orange juice in them but my one has grapes in and the scum from my strawberry jam I made. I wiped a bit on the lid inside to encourage them in. Oh put some old out of date sweet chilli sauce in one and it has'nt caught a thing!!!!! Not even a fly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they must know.......... :-S :-S :-S :-S

Morning/Evening All
From a very wet Kettering. At last some heavy rain :-D.I think it is going to dry up as the day goes on.Hopefully Mandy it will peter out before it gets to you or at leeast dry up enough for you all to enjoy the Zoo.

Ann,it did make me laugh when I read Franks post .The picture in my head was hilarious ;-) ;-).
I think if this break up happens it is not going to be acrimonious ,John is not capable of being nasty. It will be difficult though sorting out what do do about accommodation and all the things they have bought together.

Well I don't think I will venture down the garden just yet for Beans and Carrots and the birds will have to wait a bit until the rain eases off before I refill the feeders.

I might even have a go at the Cucumber soup Mandy :-D

Evening All,

Have lost a couple of posts when trying to submit them, so can't do all that again, so will start afresh and hope this one works! I do often click copy, but then forget I've done it and click or cut somewhere else and lose it!! lol.

Mel, that would have been a lovely pic of mum and the chicks! :-)

Mandy, good luck with your trip out tomorrow and weren't the family lucky to spot you today! I love the sound of the sea rustling the pebbles.....very restful. Thanks for giving the cucumber soup recipe.....I have too many now and mine is sending out branches into the tomato next too it and there are cues coming on those now.

Like David, I think a sea view would be nice. The sea can be so many different colours and varied with the waves and I find the sound quite soothing.

David, just try to focus on your exercises to help get you back behind the wheel asap. It sounds completely normal to feel as you do after what you have been through, anyone would be affected. I know I would feel like a caged animal if I couldn't go out for a whole week, one day staying in is enough for me!! Are there any books you have never got around to reading yet, any paperwork you need to sort out and organise? I know my family history stuff could do with a sort out. It's very hard to get motivated, but doing things may help you to feel better in yourself. I'm sure Fifi would enjoy more tickles and strokes!! :-) :-D :-D

Jane, that is sad, but if it isn't to be, better to let go. Heartbreak is awful as Maureen says and on top of that you can feel silly and awkward having to tell people. It's great she will be starting her PhD but if they don't stay together I suppose she will have a lot to sort out with the flat etc. I suppose it depends how amicable things are if it comes to that.

Frank, you made me sit up then.......sitting with a cold drink in your underpants!!! lol. I don't think you would be sitting long!! :-D :-D

I had my hair cut and low lights done today so it feels much lighter in weight and cooler. The trouble is, she usually washes it again after cutting it to get rid of all the bits, but she seemed a bit rushed today and didn't give it a second wash so I keep itching!!

Well good evening all,

My you have been busy since I last posted.

David NO APOLIGIES NEEDED. We are all here for each other, as I can say without fear of contradiction. You let off steam as and when you are feeling a bit down. Hope you enjoyed the jokes this evening. The monkey one tickled me !!!

Maureen, I found cues that I didn't know I had, there are still more coming. I suppose I envy you as well as Mandy and Mel, living within striking distance of London, and the others the coast. But we do have a great deal of open Country to enjoy, so you can't have in all ways.!!

That's great news for Hannah Jane a PhD no less. I can see she takes after CHRIS :-D :-D Only joking HONEST <3 <3 <3

I think we would have to rent Beckwo## for the day, if everyone comes who is within
striking distance. Ann, Will, Maureen, Jane, myself, and Uncle Tom Coblley and All !!

Certainly warmer this evening. I am sitting here with a cold drink (NOT BEER) in my u/pants, and still very warm. Sheet only tonight for me also Jane.

I sat in doors this afternoon and heard the planes, what a row they were making

Mandy, they were lucky to find you today, you could have been any where. If it had rained you could have been at home, !!!.

Here's the recipe for the Cucumber soup if any one wants it ,it's so tasty

Ingredients
1 medium, firm, young cucumber
5 oz (150 g)natural yoghurt
2½ fl oz (60 ml) soured cream
1 small clove garlic, crushed
1 teaspoon lemon juice
a few slices of lemon, cut very thinly
a little milk
1 level teaspoon chopped fresh mint
salt and freshly milled black pepper

Method

First of all peel the cucumber thinly with a potato peeler so as to leave some of the green, then slice it. Reserve a few slices to garnish the soup, then place the rest in a liquidiser along with the yoghurt, soured cream and crushed garlic.

Switch on and blend at the highest speed until smooth. Add a seasoning of salt and pepper and lemon juice, then pour the soup into a tureen and if it seems to be a little too thick, thin it with some cold milk.

Now stir in the chopped fresh mint, cover with foil or with a lid and chill very thoroughly for several hours before serving.

To serve, ladle the soup into individual soup bowls and float a few thin slices of cucumber and a thin slice of lemon on each one.

Oh dear so sorry to hear that Jane <3

Well it looks like we're going tomorrow what ever the weather ,son has rung and asked what we think, so we're going for it :-S :-D probably come home like drowned rats :-S :-S

O Jane what a shame as I thought this was the one for Hannah.

Keeping my finger crossed.

The belt cost me £12.50.

It has rained here all day today.

Maureen I bet now your cucumbers have appeared they will suddenly grow into big ones.I keep thinking ours have finished ,but then all of a sudden we get some great stonkers. We have about 6 in the fridge now and I had been planning to do a cucumber soup (I think it was Mandy who suggested doing that),but with Hannah here at the moment that won't be happening.
Mandy how lovely to sit on the beach and listen to the sea coming in over the pebbles :-D.Ice Cream too and then your dressed crab.I'm jealous (not about the crab though).

I think it might be all over for Hannah and John ,but am still hoping and praying it isn't.It is just so sad at the moment :-(
She starts her PhD at the beginning of October and has to hand her notice in where she is now in a fortnight.I just hope whatever happens she will be strong enough to begin her PhD in a good frame of mind. The Professor who will be her boss has said she will be able to work anywhere in the world with a PhD from Kings College .So what ever happens with her and John there is a future ahead :-D

I do envy you living close to the sea Mandy but every area has got some good points, I'm lucky to be just a tube ride away from London and try to make the most of museums and historical buildings plus the musicals.

I've got a Nissan Micra too William, and, touch wood, have not had any problems, this is my second one and when I decide to get a new car will probably buy another.

That would be good Jane to have a 'get together' I will see if I can make it too.

Think my roof climbing days are done Frank, I wasn't very keen getting up and down from the dormer, but once up there it was quite nice, the sun was out and I shouted down to my son to chuck up a deck chair ;-)

Evening all,

We've had another lovely day out at the coast ,went off on our own today as son and family had to keep in for a parcel to be delivered , we sat watching the fishing boats come in at Wells the next minute i heard NANNY !!!! there were the little ones with son and DIL ,we got told off as hubby had his phone turned off and mine needed charging so they couldn't ring us to say they were on their way ,they had started off looking for us in Sheringham as we said we might go there first and then they drove round the coast to Wells ,they spotted us walking along eating an ice cream , son said we tooted but you took no notice :-S :-D

We had a wander round Wells with them then they came home and we went round the coast to Weybourne beach ,we sat there for over an hour just watching people and listening to the sea splashing on the stones ,it's a pebble beach and shelves quite sharply down to the sea so we sat at the top ,it was lovely and quiet ,i think i counted about thirty people all together .
We bought a nice dressed Crab home for tea :-D

Maureen we should be going to the Zoo tomorrow ,but it looks like it will be a wet day!!

Mel, that would make a lovely photo seeing mum with all the little chicks following behind :-D they must have grown a bit by now .

Thank you Frank and Jane and others.
I haven't complained (much) since it happened but sometines it does get you down,I apologise.

Since being discharcharged agter the removal of the metal contraption I have been lying in bed reading or having short periods on the sofa watching TV or sat here before my PC's monitor.

My L leg has healed but thus far won't bend at the knee.Where else would it bend (joke) I guess it's just a matter of time but 6 months sitting about in vest and shorts does make you impatient and be concerned about the future.

I do miss driving.I've a perfectly good Ford Focus outside but Ellen won't let me drive it.I don't need to be an athlete to drive a car.Mind I must admit the seat would need to be way back for me to use the L leg on the clutch.

By itchcy feet Frank I meant wanting to go some where.

Jane,I hope your daughter has rested and calmed down.

Maureen Report 15 Aug 2013 18:25

Hi everyone, have been trying to catch up with all the posts, I must get on the computer a bit more, but when the sun is shining I just want to sit in the garden. I HAVE CUCUMBERS :-D they are only the size of gherkins but still I was so surprised, lifted a leaf and there one was, so I lifted another and found another cue must have about six in all.

David that tip, I think came from Frank, is a good one, to put a towel in the bath when you've emptied it to stop you slipping when getting out.

I was shocked to read Kim's e.mail about Sheila's friend Beryl, it felt like I knew her after following all her antics from Sheila.

I wouldn't have thought Hannah would feel much like eating Jane, I do feel for her, I guess we've all had our hearts broken a few times, which proves hearts do mend, she hasn't had a lot of luck in the love department, all you can do is be there when she wants to talk, tea and sympathy, or maybe wine and sympathy.

Where are you off to on Friday Mandy, I must have missed your post.

What happened to the daddy long legs Ruby?

Jane

Jane Report 15 Aug 2013 17:38

Well we went to Beckwor** and I spent a fair bit on some nice meat ,fresh veg,and a few other bits, but we didn't stay for lunch as Hannah can't face food much at the moment.I could see she just wanted to come home so that's what we did.
When we got there we watched a stunning air display of 4 planes doing all sorts of things like climbing high and then suddenly spiralling down towards the ground with coloured smoke trailing .It was amazing. They must have come from Sywell Airport.

Oh Mel I hope it isn't going to be too expensive to fix your washing machine. There is always something isn't there :-S.
I would have loved to see all the Chicks and Mum going up the plank :-D

David you are going to have down times after what you have been through .but it is still early days in your recovery. As that song goes.....Things can only get better :-D
How is Puss after her op ? and what about the kittens???

It has been soooo close today and quite sticky.I've got the fan going here, and I think the one in my bedroom will be on tonight and just a sheet to cover me.I thought it was supposed to rain today but nothing so far.

Yes Frank we must organise something once you have had your knee done and have a mini meet with Ann and anyone one else who might be near enough.Actually I don't think William is too far away .Beckwor** would be an ideal place :-D

James and Hannah are going to the cinema tomorrow as Hannah fancys the film with Alan Partridge(I have no idea what it is).James hates going to the cinema but is doing it for his big sis (ahhh :-D).

Also tomorrow is the funeral of my nephew in laws niece (the 14 year old girl who committed suicide). So I think my sister is going be looking after Finn and Amelia while Will and Rachel come up for the funeral.I think the service is in Lutterworth and then at the Crem here in Kettering.I imagine all her school friends ,teachers etc will be there and it will be a very sad day for everyone.

More beans picked again today. Some feel very sticky.Anyone know why that might be?

Don't think I would like my grandson to dribble round my legs Frank.

AND oh never gets it all out now, thank god.

He has mended the washing machine though but now it is making a funny noise and he says the front bearing are on the way out so he dos'nt know how long it will last for!!

Thanks for the emails Frank The poem was good.

Spun last nights washing and when I got it out of the machine it was so dry I could'nt believe it, put it on the line and saw that my jeans still had mud up them so now I am wondering if it did'nt really wash those things last night either. I had to put them back in again. Put the rest on the line and a little while later it started to rain and I had'nt noticed so they are now wetter than when they went out. :-| :-|

Frank Report 15 Aug 2013 16:51

David, you do seems down in the dumps at the moment. Considering how you have come on the last month or so, you should be very proud of yourself.

I do know how you feel, when I had my stroke I thought my life was over. No more driving, loosing my independence , having to rely on others for a lot of things, But believe me mate, you do get there. I find now that I don't expect to be running around playing with my grandson , and the other children in my life. I just sit back and enjoy watching them. Lewis is so much into football, he flicks the ball up over his head, plays" keepy uppy" and dribbles around my legs, and has a good laugh. I think "ES" I did that when I was young

Keep you chin up mate. I know you must get depressed. but we are here if you need a good old moan !!!.

Ive always got itchy y feet.
This bungalow is a semi datached,it's only fault.

The stairs to the upper room were there origionally and were taken out. Two years and a seriously broken leg later they're back in.

Everything costs even breaaking your leg at my age.

This injury is almost 6 moths old.My indepedence seems to have gone.Sometimes I worry about the future.

I could go on but doesn't do to winge, becomes a habit.

In the last 20 years Ive given up smoking and drinking and a couple of other habits.

Becomming stoic? or just marching at a slower pace? God knows

Frank

Frank Report 15 Aug 2013 15:20

That doesn't sound good Mel "OH has got it all out" :-D :-D :-D I hope you are talking about the WASHING MACHINE. ;-) ;-) ;-)

David are you getting itchy feet ??? wanting to move again so soon. I thought you moved into a bungalow last time, if not, I can understand wanting the move, So much easier on one level, with a gammy leg . When I go to my son's I have a hell of a job getting up and down stairs. It was up there a few months ago that I came from top to bottom and bruised all my side.

I wonder if Jane is home yet. I bet they had a good old chin wag, about life. !!
Hope they enjoyed the day out.
I haven't forgot, that we are going to meet up there sometime Ann, after my trip to hospital we will have to arrange something. <3 <3 <3

Well I had a right ol' job today. I prepared the chicken and vegetables . When I was putting the chicken in the oven, out of the way. I thought the oven was needing a clean. TWO hours later, it was BRIGHT AND SHINEY So that a hood job out of the way.

Ros is still out in the garden. I did go down this morning and sprayed weed killer over the stones by the shed/greenhouse/pond.

Going to make a cuppa for her ladyship now, so see you later.
