Ooh Eyes and legs.
I remember when i first started my days on the wards and was giving an unconscious patient a bed bath.I opened the bedside drawer and there was a false eye looking at me !!!!!!!!.I nearly freaked out lol.
Chris's Dad had a false leg and after he died Chris cleared the bungalow, but he left one old false leg in the loft.I bet the new owners got a shock when they saw that one :-S :-S

What a miserable day here.Dark and dismal with that light drizzly rain.We are having fun and games with this blooming fire.Having trouble keeping it going.Chris left me in charge and it went out :-S.So he is back in charge again :-D

I bet you look scary with your yellow eyeballs Frank !!!!!!.On a serious note it must be very frustrating for you ,and knowing it is going to be a long time before you can get things sorted .

Hannah just rang and she is going out for dinner tonight with Caroline and Sarah. She sounds quite chirpy :-D.I just hope tomorrow night she will find out that she has been picked to share this house.

I enjoyed Vera too Pat ,but 11 oclock it so late for it to finish.I missed a big chunk of it on Sunday as I nodded off :-S....OH likes a Speckled Hen beer ,in fact I don't mind it and I don't drink beer.My favourites are white wine (as you know :-D) and a G&T.I'm hoping for some good wine in Italy :-D.I can't believe we will be off next week.
I should be all beautified by then.Eyebrows and a couple of unfortunate hairs on my chin will be dealt with this thursday. Then on Monday haircut.I think I have got all the toiletries I need to take and can't think of anything else I need to buy.Except I wouldn't mind a new cardigan :-D :-D
Tomorrow is Chris's penultimate day at work .Eeeek !!.Then on Thursday he is going out to buy a load of cakes to take in on Friday. They always used to do that when it was a birthday ,but I think because there are so many people who work at the surgery they gave up doing it.

Ann I hope OH's tooth has been fixed and that it wasn't too big a bit that broke off.
That reminds me to tell James he needs to make an appointment.

wet, wet, wet, as the song goes. I've been ironing all day so it hasn't really bothered me. Going up for a soak in the bath soon.

Make sure you put that eye somewhere safe Frank ;-)

Crumbs Ann that's a lot for a hair cut, my usual hairdressers it's £15 (OAP rates) and I usually tip so it comes to £20 but don't think a place like T*ni & G*y will do OAP rates do you. I might go, haven't decided yet, it would be good to compare, you'd expect a better cut for double the price.

You poor old pirate Frank. Nothing worse than having eye trouble. I hope you feel a bit better soon and they can sort out the prolem when you go back.

It has been raining here all morning and afternoon and it is very windy. Twigs are flying around the garden from the big ash tree and there are leaves everywhere.

I better go up in a min and have a look at my table as I don't want that to blow over as it has eggs on it.

Frank Report 17 Sep 2013 14:43

Afternoon all,

Bear with me, as I can't see very well. I have "YELLOW EYES" and very blurred vision,

I was at the hospital for 11.00 am appointment, didn't get out of there till 12.30 pm.
Three different types of drops, and a sit down between each. The Dr. thinks a lot of my trouble is weak mussels round my left eye, weakened from my STROKE 10 years ago. I now have to go to Northampton G H to have some things fitted to my glass's, then go back and see him in 6 weeks. He says that both eyes have cataracts but wants to sort out the mussel problem first. I don't know when I will be able to get new glass's. At this rate it looks like next year. !!!

Ann, I think that advert was for "cream cakes" Naughty but nice.
You girls just don't understand us men's feelings. Loosing his football team, will be like having his LEG chopped off. :-D :-D ;-) ;-) Can't think what I would do if my WEST HAM went out of the leagues.

I bet James will eat you out of house and home now Jane. being away without a lot of money to spend after that Car Hire expense. !! Good luck to Hannah for tomorrow, for her "2nd interview" with the other girls, if she's anything like you, she will be welcome with open arms. <3 <3 <3

I told you I had a bulb explode out of the lamp, well the other one went as well, after I changed the fuse. fortunately I had two spares on shelf under the computer. Ros will have to replace my stock when she goes shopping.

Pat, I pay my Gas and Electric monthly, this week I got my bill and I was £6.68 in CREDIT. That won't last, now the heating is going on in the evening. !! Regarding drinks, If it's liquid I can drink it. But do like Bitter as my first choice. Ros often finds a lot of beers on the reduced counter in Tesc#, so brings what she can.

Bloo#y hell girls, I can get SIX haircuts fot the price some of you pay. £6.00 mid week for OAPs. :-D :-D :-D and it's not short back and sides. AND no swirls behind the ears. !!!

I will have you know that NOT ALL MEN DRIBBLE over the seat and floor. I for one am VERY CAREFUL :-D :-D :-D ;-) ;-) ;-)

Plenty of heavy showers here today. When we got back from hospital, I put the halogen heater on for an hour, to take the chill off. Proper heating will come on about 5.00 pm.

Going to rest my eyes and leg for a while, I will take my eye out and unscrew my leg :-D :-D :-D

Afternoon Everyone

Sunny but windy, just been tidying up some old photo's this morning, trying to do a bit of organising, what a mess!!!! :-|

MIL sent up some photo's of OH when he was a baby and as a toddler, showed them to Sofia on Sunday and she laughed "is that really granddad when he was little , what happened to his hair Gran" :-D :-D OH had lovely hair lots of curls, but as he grew older , people would say what a pretty little girl, so they cut it off.

Afternoon all .

I have had a quick read though the posts..I see we are all getting this bad weather and have had to start putting the heating on now and again..
I had an estimated bill this time which I paid ..Next bill I will give the readings myself..
My brother gave Alan 2 bottles of Speckled Hen the other day Frank..Alan is a lager person.
I have used up most of my different spirits. on cocktails and am now sticking to Vodka and wine.
We has a wood burner in the cottage we stayed in and last winter while we were there we used after we found a place that sold logs lol.

I hate the M1 ..I live near jnt 11...My eldest son was glad to move out of Luton years ago when he had to make that journey everday while the roadworks were on going to heathrow way.

Im sorry Vera has ended now..I enjoyed that. X factor isint put on in this house

Evening Kim and Morning All,

Not 2 more bulbs Mel! It does seem a long time since one went though. I think we will be stocking up at B*Q tomorrow then when we can get our 10% discount. The nicely shaped round energy bulbs are quite pricey.

Jane, that reminded me of cleaning our Pa*kray glass years ago.....I tried everything but the tar from coal is hard to shift and it gradually got ingrained. I think with burning logs you won't have a problem. Will you still need to get the flue cleaned each year?

OH is at the dentist.....broke a bit off his tooth last night. Then we are off to the carvery before he sets off for the match at St Neots. I can't make my mind up whether to go out this afternoon or stay in and do some sewing......jeans to turn up and 2 sets of curtains to shorten and beetroot to pickle, tomatoes to blanche....HW etc, etc..... :-S Think I will go out first and look for an anniversary card.......it might put me in a better mood for doing the rest!! :-) ;-)

Morning All and Evening Kim,

We have one of those miserable days here today. Everywhere looks dismal and soaked if you know what I mean.

Nothing planned for today just take it as it comes but I must do some toms for the table outside the gate.

Ann and Jane you can expect two more light bulbs to go now so be prepared as they always seem to go in threes.

How's the knee today Frank? feeling easier I hope. <3

Wrote this ages ago and never posted it!!!!!!!

Morning/Evening All

I can't believe I am first on here today,and it's 10.45 !!!!
I was told a tip for cleaning the glass in the door of the fire. Some damp newspaper dipped in the old ash and rub.I have to say I am very impressed .But I shall still go and buy some special cleaner.I'm hoping that now the seal is fixed and we make sure all our logs are really dry ,plus having the right air flow going through that the glass won't go like it did on Sunday.

Off now to get the Euros sorted for Venice BBL

What a lovely photo to keep Fiona. It looks quite magical with the golden glow and the candles reflected in Sofia's glasses. She looks really focused on the job of blowing them out! :-)

Off to bed now......early rise tomorrow as we want to get a few jobs done before OH drives to St Neots with his pals for his team's match. It may be the last one they ever play, it's touch and go. It seems to matter SO much if the club folds. I just don't get it I'm afraid.......far too important and all consuming for me!

Two good night's sleep on the trot now, so it's either because it's cooler or because it's darker.........night night.

Well I went to look in the drawer in the garage for a spare bulb first and found a 150 watt one so it looks floodlit in this little room where the computer is!! :-D I can see dust and cobwebs in here now. :-S Oh no Jane, I never have any spares for those!

Gawd, my 'shampoo, cut and finish' costs £54, but that's because she's a senior consultant, not the dearest though, that's £62. If I have a half head of low lights as well it is double the price. :-(

Jane

Jane Report 16 Sep 2013 19:50

One light bulb goes in this house and we can then expect another one or two to go.
Yes it is a pain not to be able to use the fire tonight Ann as it is chilly. So i have turned up the central heating.I have to order a load of logs tomorrow and must remember to say they are for a Wood burner.
Good luck with the new printer :-D

I think James is pretty tired and it won't be a late night for him tonight. He has just nipped out to see his pal Luke.He said tonight is the first time he has had long trousers on since he left to go away.He better get used to them again now lol

Maureen that is a lot for just a cut and blow dry.I pay £27 for wash ,cut and finish .
I have my appointment 2 days before we go away :-D.I had to change it as I realised my appointment was actually the day we go.The finish bit is the hair being dried off but not 'styled' .I think it would be about another £13 or so for a blow dry.
I do need to get an eyebrow tidy done too ,not that I have much done .But I can't see to do it myself ,cos the specs get in the way and then if I take them off I might end up with lopsided eyebrows .

ANN one of the bulbs has just gone hood over my oven !!!!!!!!!!.

Ruby I did laugh at your Squaring Up hair cut :-D :-D..I remember the expression a pudding basin hair cut...Better go and sort this bulb out now. :-S

Annx Report 16 Sep 2013 19:10

Oh dear Jane...no sizzling, cosy logs yet! I was thinking how nice they would be today as well. :-( As you say, nothing seems to be 100% first time these days. I've just bought a new printer today so keep your fingers crossed. I bet James and Jess have found it chilly here today after their holiday!!

Yes mixed toilets are gross as you say.........they do all that practising up walls as little boys and still can't manage it!!! Those Japanese ones sound like the two extremes Jane. I remember the hole ones in France with slightly raised platforms for your feet. What I didn't know was they they flushed automatically every few minutes so woe betide you if you weren't safely on the platforms!!

Oh BUM, the lightbulb has just gone in here ......I'll have to nick the hall one for now!!

Jane

Jane Report 16 Sep 2013 18:26

Mixed toilets ...I am not a fan of.Simply because the MEN dribble all over the floor and seat and it is gross :-S :-S.Why can't you boys aim properly :-| :-| :-|
The holes in the floor ones too are horrible and tend to be a bit wiffy. Not easy to balance either lol .I always roll my trouser legs up too when using them .In Japan they were everywhere except in our hotel and that was something amazing. You felt like you were sitting on the Starship enterprise .All sorts of buttons to press. One to warm the seat ,one for music, one for a spray up the botty, one to dry etc.It was quite scary at first as you were never quite sure what was going to happen lol.

Fiona ,when i was a little girl I hated going to the loo unless I was at home. When ever we went visiting I would always inspect the toilet and then in a LOUD VOICE inform my Mum and Dad that it was alright and nice and clean .....Can you imagine how mortified they must have been lol

The man came and has glued the seal thing back in the door of the fire.We can't open it until tomorrow now.The glass on the door has all blackened up too :-S :-S
so I need to get some special cleaner for that now.

Frank I think it was your card that arrived this morning for Chris .I have it.Thank you :-D

James is home :-D.I just told him to dump his massive rucksack in the garage and he can sort his washing tomorrow. They both had a great time in Greece and he looks very tanned .He says that all his money went on hiring a car for the week on the island and food. Now it is back to the real world and job hunting again.

No William .Hope all is well there <3

My goodness, Ross is a true friend Frank, getting up that early to go to the airport.

Think I will have to put the heating on again, I'm so cold, it's bright sunshine at the moment but just an hour ago the heavens opened and we had hailstones. Can't seem to get motivated today so finished my book and will probably just stay on the computer till it's time to pick up the ironing.

That's not good Jane about your burner, why can't things just work like they're supposed to, there's always a hassle isn't there.

Wanted to get my haircut before the holiday but haven't timed it well as my hairdresser is away for two weeks. I phoned T & G to see how much they charge for a cut and blow dry, start at £42 :-0 that's twice what I normally pay.

There won't be much of our countryside left at this rate with the demand for houses, we are bursting at the seams already.

Annx

Annx Report 16 Sep 2013 15:24

Afternoon All,

Yes Frank 'I'm naughty but nice' :-) ;-). What was that the advertising slogan for? I don't envy Ros that early morning trip. When OH did a daily commute to Luton, he used to say he was 'beating his way down the M1!!' Mondays and Fridays were always busy, even a few years ago. Even worse in the wet with all the lorries and spray. Glad your knee seems to be improving a little. Yes OH worries about his ears when he hears the scissors near them but I tell him his tongue is more at risk. lol. His hair doesn't look too bad this morning. :-S Mind you I forgot he'd got a clerking meeting tonight and I can't tell him to wear a hat for that so that no one will notice!! I think they will be too polite to mention it though......unlike his footie mates!! :-S

Just got the car back from it's MOT.....phew thankfully it passed, but at £44 the test isn't cheap is it. I notice that since OH retired my mileage has gone down each year. Using his car a lot of the time has saved me quite a bit of fuel cost. :-)

The castle sounds interesting Fiona. OH loves looking around old castles when we are on holiday. I'm sure he would love to see some of the ones in Scotland. It's good if Sofia can overcome her dislike of public toilets. I think most of us dislike using some of them. I worked with someone whose wife wouldn't even use the toilets at work. She wouldn't drink anything at work and went home every lunchtime so she could use their own toilet. It can't have been good for her to do that.

Ruby, those heavy pans are supposed to be good at distributing the heat evenly aren't they so you get better results cooking some things. I can just picture the 'square' corners!!:-D Look forward to seeing a pic of the cotton.

Enjoyed the last episode of What Remains, my word it was action packed at the end.

I've been trying to find a half decent Anniversary card for OH this morning as it is our Anniversary on Wednesday..........what a pathetic selection they have for husbands, yet nice ones for wives are two a penny!! :-S

Hi again,

Ros got back about 9.30 am. A lot of traffic both ways on the M 1 I expect it's usual for a Monday morning at that time of day. But as we would normally be in bed, we wouldn't know !!

Fiona, I must be lovely to have old castles within a few miles of you, for a day out with the grand children. You don't think about things like toilets for children.

I know the first time I took my children abroad. My daughter wanted to go for a wee in France, and all they had were these holes in the ground surrounded by tiles. She was totally bemused by them, and she was only 10 or 11 years old. We were on our way by car from Kettering to Barcelona. When we arrived at the camp site, the toilets were in blocks for men and women. Each morning the staff would come round with a high pressure hose to wash the floors. Gawd help you if you were sitting on the loo, your feet and legs would get a good soaking. :-D :-D What a surprise !!

Jane, I didn't think that out of hours thing would go down with GPs, after a days work, the last thing you would want in overtime. Never heard of LAWKS !!

Mel the weather is very changeable here at the moment. Ros has a line of sheets out, one minute it's sun, then cloud. She's just got a load in as it looks like rain. Just two sheets out now. Now the suns out again. !!! She's also cleaned the windows outside the bungalow. I'm now waiting for her to get the mower out. ONLY JOKING HONEST. The lawns can wait till I''m on my feet again.
You know I don't mean OLD as it's only an expression, Fiona misunderstood me over that <3 <3 <3 <3

Must get a coffee, I am parched.

Morning Everyone, Evening Kim

We did get that awful weather yesterday, windy and very wet, OH is still finding a few more leaks( not the green yummy kind lol) in his greenhouse , keeps going round and round fixing gaps where he find puddles.

Daniele took his mum & her friend plus the kids to Bothwell Castle yesterday in all that rain. Sofia was so proud of herself because she went to the toilet there. that may sound strange but we have had difficulty in getter her to go to unfamiliar toilets(public toilets) nobody likes sitting on a public toilet, and as she is only little she can't stand, (must look for some paper toilet covers)

Back to the castle, here is a bit of history:
Bothwell Castle is a large medieval castle sited on a high, steep bank, above a bend in the River Clyde, in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is located between Bothwell and Uddingston, about 10 miles south-east of Glasgow. it is in ruins now. great in the summer when they do re-enactments there.

today so far no rain & patches of blue sky, :-D

Morning/Evening All

Lawks Frank another bad night :-S.You will have to grab a few 40 winks today.

Well Chris opened the door on the wood burner when he came down this morning and discovered that the rubber seal on the inside of the door had come away :-S :-S
That's not good is it :-| :-|.So I have just rung the company and they are getting back to me hopefully sending someone out today.Once again nothing goes straight forward.

Ruby a lot of the houses being built here are not large. They seem to cram so many in to the smallest of plots.I suppose the difference is there is a lot more land to build on where you are compared to this little country lol.I noticed that when I was in Canada how spacious everything was.
I remember seeing cotton being picked in Greece and Donkeys were used with wicker baskets on their backs to transport it.It seemed to be old ladies in black riding the donkeys !.I have a feeling I might still have a piece of cotton from there although I haven't a clue where it could be.

Frank I bet it won't be easy for the hospital to find GPs willing to do stints in A&E.I know once the out of hours was no longer compulsory for GPs to do the on calls many including Chris decided they did enough hours already and pulled out from doing out of hours duties.

It is a lovely blue sky this morning, and fairly breezy. We didn't get the awful weather yesterday that we were expecting.

Off to start Normandy Pork now :-D
