Ann,I've got a Nissan Micra 1.4 Sport and I've not had much trouble with it all. This is the 6th Nissan I've had and they have all served me well. The actual mileage is 31122, that's what's on the service log when it came back today. I usually change them after 3 years but I love this one so much that I don't want to move on. I got this one as a special short term deal with all the extras, so if I wanted something of the equivalent, it's going to cost me.

Did anyone one see that TV programme yesterday on King Arthur, it was before the Sean Connery film about Arthur, BBC 2 I think. A poet was looking at all the legends through literature etc in the dim and distant past. Then the legend of the Holy Grail cropped up and the narrator, the poet, traced it from Glastonbury to another place, then when that placed fell into ruins, he was supposed to have traced to the only surviving one of the family, a woman who is supposed to have the Grail. Actually she looked a bit simple to me, then he asked if he could see it and she said yes. She opened a drawer and took out what looked like a glass sugar bowl to us. Either she is in need of some psychiatric help or the whole subject was a total con.

Jane, you need Frank or I to give you lessons on how to use the Underground. After years away from London I thought I'd lost the art of 'tubing' but when Carmel was in hospital down there for 2 weeks, I found myself bombing all over the place on the tube. I had a whale of a time visiting all the museums I'd never been to when I lived there.

Poor old you Jane, I had a terrible feeling this morning that it would not be good news. I suppose it could be a lot worst , she could have been pregnant, and parting from John. Let's hope it's just something they are going through. It's so near to having that lovely holiday.

We had a bit of surprise news. Lara ,Harvey's step daughter has split from her husband. He seems to think he only needs to be a husband Monday till Thursday and a DAD too. On Friday's he thinks he should be able to go away with his mates, Golfing, Boozing, cricket, football. You name it he want's to do it. Lara put her foot down and left. She has found a flat close to her MUM AND DAD, so that looks like a broken marriage. They only got married two years ago. and little Sophia will be ONE next month. Children, what do you do with them, but you wouldn't be without them either. !!!

Maureen, so glad you had a nice few days away. What on earth are you doing climbing on the roof. That's not a job for a woman :-D :-D :-D You be careful you don't slip.

Our tomato's are still as green as grass. Ros has cut all the leaves off today, so any sunshine will now get to them. Five more Cucumbers growing at the moment, and more courgettes .

I had to water everywhere this evening, dry as a bone. They are promising rain, but you can't trust the forecast.

See you later, ENJOY YOUR WINE JANE, have one on me also. !!!

Annx Report 12 Aug 2013 18:50

Evening All,

Well, Jane no sooner back from her break and 'near the bone' play and whizzing off to London! I thought it sounded like it might be a relationship thing. Poor Hannah so upset......I can see why you whizzed off Jane, but she's lucky you don't have a job and can just drop everything. Hopefully they will sort things out as only they can. Your bite looks nasty....hope it is getting better now

What a shame for Ros yesterday Frank. As you say, she needs a 'prime position' table booking next year! :-) Our teacher took some things of ours to sell a couple of months ago, but she wasn't hopeful as it was a garden party type thing and she said they had an 'upstairs table'. She reckonned by the time the Pim*s had done the rounds in the garden a lot wouldn't bother with 'upstairs'. I won't find out what she sold till classes start next month as I said I was happy to wait till then.

What 1955 car is it you have William? Whatever it is it is doing well and only 30,000 miles. FIL's car he gave up last year had done about that mileage but his was a 1988 Peugeot. OH used to do that mileage in a year the last few years he worked.....his service intervals and tyre changes didn't half come round quick !! His present car has over 150,000 miles on the clock and he's been retired 3 years now.

I only buried my goldfish and tortoise in the garden when I was little. I'd lived in 7 different houses by the time I'd finished school. My first thoughts when I saw them building a new house where 'Horace' was buried were had they dug him up!! :-0

I bet Mandy is having a nice time at the zoo, hopefully she's not wearing the shoes that pinched!! :-S The weather here has been quite sunny today.

Maureen Report 12 Aug 2013 18:35

Oh Jane, I know just what it's like, even with my eldest at 49 I get sobs down the phone, sometimes they just need mum so they can have a good rant about their husbands/partners. It's the same with the youngest daughter sometimes I have to wait till they start talking to know which one it is. Do hope Hannah and her guy can sort it out, if they don't, well, it just wasn't meant to be is my philosophy, although that isn't any comfort I know.

Have had a lovely weekend in Kent, ate far too much, especially cake, and drank quite a lot too but the weather was really good, not too hot, but nice enough to sit out for the party on Saturday. Had an 'interesting' game of croquet, why do men take games so seriously :-|needless to say I didn't win but I did give my son-i-l a run for his money at badminton, must have been all that cake giving me energy.
Have spent most of today on son's roof, literally, climbing up over the tiles and on to the dormer he has just built.

Loved all the e.mails, lovely pic Mel of the chicks, the greenhouse looks very smart Fiona. Ann I thought the penultimate was my favourite Beasty, I can't believe all those toms my plants were all droopy by the time I got home last night and your cues Frank, well what can I say, feel a saucy seaside postcard coming on .................... what a couple of whoppers ............

Must go and get my dinner now, will be back tomorrow, hopefully, unless I have my builders hat on again.

I'm home after a rather stressful day.Phone message from Hannah at 6.45 saying she needed to talk.I rang straight away but could not get a lot of sense as she was crying so much. They are having trouble and she is worried they might break up :-(.
So I asked her if she wanted me to go to London to see her.She said no as it would be expensive getting train tickets at the last minute. But I said I would go anyway as it was awful hearing her in that state. So I packed an overnight back just in case and got the 9.30 train. Then Taxi (I haven't a clue how to use the tube on my own :-S).
Lots more tears and a told me what was what. Then I thought it would be a good idea to get out of the flat and go for a bite of lunch.
She was sure I didn't need to stay so after she got a bit of food shopping we went back to the flat and she ordered another taxi for me to take me back to St Pancras.More tears on the doorstep :-(.Must say it was hard holding them back myself)but I did.
So here I am drained and over £100 poorer :-S :-S..But I'm glad I went as she said it helped.Just have to wait now and see how things go.
Now I am going to pour myself a well earned glass of wine and chill a bit before starting dinner.

Hi folks. You need the patience of a saint to get on here. I got the dreaded ERROR message again and had to clomp my way here at 50 pages at a time, any more and it's back to ERROR. Why oh why can't GR get it sorted??? If it wasn't for you, all my friends on here, I think I'd have spent my money on Ancestry long ago.
And what has GR done with the census dates on here? You could go to the census year you wanted before, enter the details and (hopefully) see what you wanted. Now either I'm a Dumbo or they have made the system even more complicated, please tell me I'm wrong.

My car has just come back serviced, valeted another years RAC in with the deal and my MOT passed. They collect and deliver back so I'm satisfied with the way they look after me. Just have to do the road tax at the end of the month and that's it for another year. I had this car in September 1955 and I've only just done over the 30,000 miles - shows how much we get about these days. I did go out last week and get two new front tyres fitted which set me back £100 but I thought it money well spent even though the original ones that were on might have just skimmed the MOT for this time. I found a great little local place for tyres which my neighbour recommended.

Watched The Mill last night - anyone who complains that they have bad in these days ought to watch that programme. Let's face it, it's not all that long ago historically. I can't understand it these days when young folk say they are bored. I don't think I'd ever heard the word when I was young and we had nothing anywhere near what they've go today. Having said that, I was walking back from the doctors last week and using what is known here as 'back of the walls', a little alley that leads from the shops to our place. A very young brother and sister were coming along in advance of their mother who was pushing a buggy. They were playing with great glee at 'jumping over the puddles', so I had to remark to the Mum, no matter what toys that have, nothing beats puddle hopping! Simple things are sometimes the best.

Okay, off to do other things now, may email out a few more sky photos. I seem to 'into' skies these days.

Afternoon Everyone.

Talking of pets buried in the garden,
Well, Victoria's rabbits Peter Rabbit & Benjamin Bunny are under the green house now
Katherine's rabbits Toffee & Caramel are under the green house.
Loads of gold fish & tropical fish have made it to our dustbin over the last few years.
Quite a few wild birds have been buried in the garden.
We buried dad's dog Bonnie in his back garden and there's a round stepping stone marks the spot. :-D
In Sunderland when I was a child/teenager, we buried snowy the rabbit, and my dog Ginny who died on my 18th birthday, at the bottom of the garden.

Glad you had a nice few days away Jane,
Hope Hannah is ok, we are never very far away to give out cuddles to our girls, :-D :-D it's nice to know they still like a hug from mum & dad sometimes.

New pic Sofia & Matteo on the piano :-D :-D

I Wondered what that SMELL WAS David Is it lavender soap or carbolic ???

Morning all/Evening Kim,

Ros was home about 4.00 pm. Disastrous day for selling jewellery. they only had about 10 people round the garden, and only a few of those looked at the stalls. As I said to Ros, totally in the wrong part of the village, everything was going on near the canal. Margaret's house is well out of the way up Stoke Road a mile from the main attractions. Next year I will book a stand in the midst of everything. She was totally Knackered when she got in, and slept for two hours on the sofa.

I then presented her with a lovely Roast Pork dinner, which she enjoyed, I did all the washing up, cleaning down the cooker. Drying up, and putting everything away.

I couldn't get on here last night, so gave it up as a bad job. Got on this morning after third attempt.

Ruby, They wanted to replace my knee on my left leg, but due to my stroke (right side) they are concerned with my balance, so are going to do keyhole to see if they can clear the back of my knee, of all the debris , If nor successful they will have to do a knee replacement anyway. I have a new date for 3rd Sept. 7.15 am. Fingers crossed, it doesn't get cancelled.

David, When you have emptied the bath, you should have put a couple of towels in the bottom, it would have made ir easier to get out. !!

Mel the Hogs, were having a "DANCE" round the bowls last night, weren't they, Bumping into each other like that <3 <3 <3

Cooler sort of morning here, Ros has a line of whites blowing away, and she is doing a bit in the boarders. I've told her, she mustn't do too much. There's always another day ;-) ;-) ;-)

I'm fed up to the high teeth with all the adverts you get when on the thread, Today it's SK# and some other thing that keeps dropping down on the right hand side. When Conrad comes over I will see if he can get rid of them all.

Whatever you are doing today, have a good one. I hope Jane isn't going down to Hannah's to receive bad news :-( :-( :-(

David

David Report 12 Aug 2013 09:45

Last night I had a bath, nothing unusual about that you think.
It is when you've had a broken leg for 5 months.

I stood on the good leg and lifted the broken leg up and over the side of the bath.
Then I put the palms of my hands on each side of the bath and took my weight while I got the other leg in.

Getting out was the same but in reverse.I emptied the bath first to avoid any nasty accidents. It was more difficult because the bottom of the bath was slippy, got out on the third attempt.

Clean from my scalp to the soles of my feet. Smelling nicer.

Ruby there were so many hearty /belly laughs at the play :-D :-D.A most unusual play to say the least but it deserves a gold star for the performance.
So I am off now and must say looking forward to my own bed tonight .
See you all tomorrow x

Hello Everyone,

Glad to see you are all in fine fettle!

Don't know anything about your computer problem David. My children tell me all the time not to open any e-mails if I don't recognize the sender. An old friend told me recently that he had signed me up on a dating service and had given me the name of 'The English Lassie'. Of course he was only teasing. If anyone wanted to date me, I would know it was because they wanted somewhere to live and someone to wash their drawers. :-D :-D

I rather like bawdy plays Jane. I enjoy a hearty laugh. Glad you had a nice time.

Loved your little chicks Mel. What colour eggs will they lay? I got the owl video, but couldn't see it's head - of course I knew what it was.

Thankyou everyone for your pictures. I had a look at your Hobby Craft (I think that's the right name) site the other day. It's a great store isn't it? I think you have to pay more than we do for your supplies though. I was looking at the embroidery threads, and for plain DMC cotton floss it was 79p. We pay about 30cents, so we could buy about 5 skeins for a pound. It doesn't seem fair does it?

William, I hope all your results will be good. I think that's the worst part - waiting for the results.

Sorry Frank that you got messed about. A few years ago, one of my brothers went in for a heart valve op., only to be sent back home, and that happened three times!
are you having a knee replacement?

I've cleaned most of my garden out. I just have tomatoes and bell peppers left. Am about to plant some collard greens - they're similar to kale. Taste great after a frost. Good with cornbread and chowchow.

We still have hot and very humid weather. It's about 33' today, but I don't stay out in it for long. Go from the house to the car, and into the stores.

Have you ever eaten chicken pizza.? If you haven't, then I wouldn't bother. I had some the other day at grandson's 8th b'day party for the first time, but wasn't too impressed. I like pepperoni the best.

Tata for now. We have re-runs of Downton A. this evening, so I shall get ready and have my chocs. beside me.

William I bet you have just about had enough of visiting hospitals.I hope both yours and Carmels scans and tests come back good.
Oh dear poor Hamster. :-(.We have quite a collection of buried pets of one kind or another down the bottom of our garden now.
Chester's Ashes
Dodger's Ashes
My cat Solo
Hannah's Gerbils (Sooty and Crunch)
Rachel(dubai) her 2 Hamsters (Starsky and Hutch)
her Parrot (Tweety Pie) and I think another something ,but can't remember what.
I think that is enough now :-S

Frank I'll have those beans lol You know how much I love them.I have picked 3 lb today. But I'm not freezing any as they will all be eaten in the next couple of days.I would be happy just to have beans on my plate :-D

We went to a lovely pub last night at somewhere called Welford -on -Avon.Think it was called the Bell Inn.The food was so good.I sat earwigging the conversation on the next table. It was a Mother and Daughter who obviously run a Horse racing Stables.
The Daughter moaned and bitched about 2 people ,and also she was offered £500 less than the asking price for a good horse.Mother was saying no do not let the horse go for that or to that person .It was quite interesting really .I was sorry when we left lol

Frank ."Near the Mark " were just the words I was looking for ,to describe the play.I think you would have really loved it.There were some faces well known to TV in the play. But the main Character was someone called Ian Redford .If you google him you will recognise him.He is not a young man but the energy he had to dance and jump and mess about was amazing.I kept thinking he could have a heart attack at any moment as he put his all into it !!!.I would go and see it again right now if I could.(as long as I had a comfortable seat ) :-D

I just backed out of the whole thing immediately.
Today my PC is extreemly low bits slow standards and there is a dialogue box saying your performance is slow with a fix it button which I have stayed well away from.

I'm of the opinion that some Shi ite has introduced this to my PC,possibly through an e-mail I cannot access.

P'd off yes I am
