Mel Fairy Godmother Report 11 Aug 2013 16:07

So nice to hear from you William. I have had trouble getting on the thread all week but today seems a bit better.

Jane good to hear you had a great time and enjoyed the play. Sounds as if it was a real hoot. Is James in today? Ask him to download you Freemediaplayer and you should be able to see the videos.

When oh arrived back from ringing this afternoon I showed him the video of me looking for the funny noise in the garage this morning. We went out and he lifted off the food sack I had replaced over the hog wrapped in a ball of rope and straw and I had my hedgehog gloves on so I picked it up to see if it was tangled in the rope. It was'nt and came away quite easily in my hands and into a cardboard box which we shall let it out from tonight and CLOSE THE GARAGE DOORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was making such a funny noise when I found it this morning. :-0

HORAY, I have finished the beans. I spent over an hour topping and tailing and getting the stringy backs off. Then I had to slice them all. Two big saucepans boiling away, and a bowl of cold water ready, with loads of ice cubes. As I did one lot, I put them in cold water, and then the next and so on. Tell a lie I ran out of freezer bags, so there's a few left, that we can have during the week. I( will be feed up with the sight of runner beans. DO YOU WANT SOME JANE ????

Watched a bit of football, but nor that impressed.

Have just put the loin of pork in the oven, It's on the bone, I've not seen that before. When that's cooked will wrap in tin foil, and leave to warm later. That will leave the oven free for Roasts and pudding later.

Haven't heard from Ros, so I guess everything is going alright. Will let you know how she got on later.

So pleased you had a nice time Jane, that play sounded a bit near the mark :-D :-D :-D Is that why you enjoyed it so much ??? Caught out by the fire alarm as well. I could just see the panic on your faces. <3 <3 <3

Mel that photo of the chicks was so lovely, they looked so comfortable tucked up beside MUM. <3 <3

Turned out a good afternoon here, warm with plenty of sunshine. The end to a good weekend for the Canal Festival. I think it all closes down about 5.30 pm. and the stalls can then get packed away, I wonder how the nos. were this year. Will no doubt get to hear after the weekend.

Will, I thought you had enough animals in the garden without your G'Son's Hamster. lol lol

Has anyone missed me? I've had so many stabs at getting on here and failed, I lost patience in the end! But I'm here now with a bit of this and that.

I was at our local hospital yesterday for a cystoscopy, I was in and out in an hour, well done the George Eliot Nuneaton. I can't say it was much of an ordeal as I've had it done before and knew what to expect. I was able to pick up fish and chips for us on the return journey and still get back to our local library afterwards.
Then on Tuesday coming I've got to go back to the XRay Dept there for an ultra sound and an abdo XRay. Then it's wait for an outpatients appointment. Since my doctor picked up the phone and spoke to them they have certainly moved fast.

However, it was a different tale on Friday when I had to take Carmel to the Coventry University hospital for an MRI scan. We were told be there 20 minutes early (what's that all about?) and report to the main XRay reception. That was a joke. There was such a queue that it snaked back from the department door and with wheel chairs and beds trying to be wheeled in and out and people in the queue on crutches, it was chaotic. We stood there 10 minutes when I decided to walk towards the front of the line. There I saw a WAIT HERE sign and at the top it said 'PATIENTS FOR CT/MRI SCANS FOLLOW THE ARROWS TO (THAT) DEPT'. So off we went only to find the desk and reception with no queue at all. Even with the prior delay they called Carmel in at 11pm on time. But an hour later I was still sitting there waiting for her return, just then she came back out. She said there had been a delay with one of the other patients but that the staff were very unhelpful and she had to ask for someone to help her get off the MRI machine. The noise nearly knocked her senseless. The George Eliot have a lovely silent scan, and the staff are wonderful. Anyway, that over and she also has to wait for the consultant to call her back.

But sad news :-( our grandsons pet hamster has popped his clogs (or should that be paws?). I thought about offering to have it stuffed and to add it to the animals in our garden but I didn't think he'd appreciate that somehow. He's taken it round his Mum & Dads and had it buried in the garden there. Hope Ben, their dog, doesn't dig it up and make a snack of it !!!

Looking at the TV guide there doesn't seem to much on after 9pm for a lot of the evenings. Last night was so dire early on that we sat watching (and singing to) Walt Disney's Jungle Book on a 10p video I got from the local charity shop. Look for the bare necessities - and - Yoo hoo hoo I wana be like you-hoo-hoo. Great stuff.

Good to hear David is getting out and about, he'll be running for the bus anytime soon. Well done David, don't let it wear you down.

Off for a cuppa, been told to drink plenty for a day or two, but I think I'll make it non-alcoholic! :-D C Y A L

'ello 'ello 'ello.I'm back :-D.Did you miss me? ;-)
We had a lovely time especially at the theatre yesterday afternoon. What a show it was.It was at the Swan theatre in Stratford. Now how I explain what it was !
It was a Farce -A Bawdy Romp origionally produced in the 1600's in Shakespearean words and phrases but updated to the 1950's Soho i n London.Fast moving hilarious characters.Lots of sexual things (done tongue in cheek) and double entendres Not for the feint hearted and shockable lol .Wonderful Jazz singer lady called Linda John-Pierre.
Some of the Characters names were .Mr and Mrs Littledick, Sir Bounteous Peersucker ,Master Whopping Prospect,Spunky,Private Detective Sir Andrew Skunknodger...Then there was an escort and a Rent Boy and others.I think that will give you an idea :-D :-D.It was really an excellent play with lots of whooping and cheering at the end.The theatre itself is very different .It's round and the inside is all wooden.I managed to take a pic as people were leaving. The seats though were flipping uncomfortable.Narrow and no leg room After nearly 3 hours you could almost hear the groans coming from everyone getting up again lol.But it was worth it.
The name of the play was A Mad World My Masters.Ten out of ten from me :-D

The Hotel itself was lovely .very old,but we were in a converted Barn block and the inside just seemed like normal modern hotels. So not impressed really.I think when using these groupons /secret escape deals you tend not to get the better rooms. But saying that it was nice.Lovely topiary garden ,wood panelled Gt Hall for dining in.
The fire alarm went off this morning just as Chris got in the shower and I was in the all together. What a panic to get something on as we all had to leave the building.
I t was nothing though :-S.Everyone looked dishevelled lol

My bite continues to get worse (the one I had on thursday) It looks awful .Will send a pic if you want to se it.I think it might have been a horse fly and not a wasp. Then I got stung again yesterday in Stratford :-| :-|.Wasps everywhere !!!!!!
I did find some very good little patches in Boo** for bites and stings. It is a clear plaster with a cooling gel pad /disc.,and it really helps with the itching.

I hope Ros has a successful day today Frank and that there are lots of visitors.

Mel I haven't been able to open your video clip again :-S.
Ann managed to send it to me last time, so Ann if you are able could you pass on any from Mel please.
Right now I'm off down the garden to pick the beans.Don't think there will be albs like you though Frank !!!!! That is some amount of beans :-D :-D

Electric kept going out earlier and I thought it was the pc. It was'nt as it happened more when oh came in and he turned the pc off. Happened three more times whilst cooking the breakfast and once while we were eating and then it came back on all on it's own without us having to flip the switch.

First on here I see. Don't wonder at it. I have been trying for AGESSSSSS!!!

Morning my lovelies , Hi David and Will, if you are looking in.

Ros was up and showered and dressed, before you bought my tea (she forgot the sugar) smacked legs later !!!!! She was off by 9.45 to get set up., Do hope she does better today, it's along while (10.00 till 5.00) to be sitting around, and not being able to go round the canal, and other activities.

I went to pick a few runners for dinner tonight. Not having meat and veg all week, I haven't picked any. I was down the for ages, and ended up picking about SEVEN POUNDS. I will have a good job, topping and tailing that lot, slicing, and blanching, then bagging and freezing. I'll do that today while Ros is out.

I am just about peed off with Genes, their service is terrible, they spend more time on ERROR PAGES that they do on line. :-0 :-0 :-0

Doing Roast Pork tonight. I said to Ros I would start it when she gets home, that way she can have a rest for a couple of hours before eating.

Football on Tele at 1.30. Not sure what time K.O. is, will have to have a look, I don't like sitting through these so called experts, spouting their mouths off for an hour before a match. :-D :-D :-D I've forgotten more about football, than they will ever know. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Off to start preparing the veg. etc.

Glad you all liked the pic I sent. They looked so comfy and warm all cuddled up to mum.

FRANK those eggs were definately OLD as the white (albium) gets fthinner with age. I would say they were at least 4 weeks old but they would'nt have been off. Thats the trouble when you have had your own eggs. On Sundays we always have Sundays eggs with breakfast. Having said that about them being old I did once have a hen who layed eggs that were very runny when put in the pan so perhaps it is just the hen lacking in something.

Off now so see you in the morning if I can get on here without too much trouble.

David, it's good you have been venturing outside........just keep away from the WALL.......... :-S It must be frustrating not being able to sort your car tyre out ready for when you can drive. Maybe you'll have to get a mobile mechanic in to come to your house and change and repair it for you. Try google with your location. The one FIL used was cheaper than the main garages and nothing was too much trouble for him.

Evening All,

I'm here Mel! I got your video and managed to open it ok. Fancy the Owl coming down to feed. You do get a variety of night visitors!!

Yesterday a few of us met up at the house of one of the ladies in the beading class. We all took our beads with us and were going to do some beading and share our books to do some different things. By the time we'd all arrived, except the teacher, who had a snapped fan belt, and got our coffee, out came the delicious chocolate brownies one had brought together with the equally delicious home made scones with freshly sliced strawberries and clotted cream another had brought and it became more of a picnic and laughter!! Then we went for a walk around her lovely garden and none of us even got around to getting our beads out. :-S :-D lol. We all enjoyed ourselves though and it was a nice break!! :-D

Today we went to MIL's to drop off her birthday gift and for OH to put some bark down where a shrub had been, then we went to Lichfield where OH was going to a match. We had to pump a tyre up the night before, but it seemed ok this morning, so it may have been him clipping a kerb!! On the way, as we we had plenty of time we went to a place nearby called Wall to look at some roman remains of a staging post and bath house. It is just alongside the old Watling Street roman road. There is just the usual foundations left to see, but hard to imagine the now sleepy little village was once a hive of roman activity. At the edge of the carpark is the smallest library I have ever seen.........I will send a pic. :-) ;-) OH then dropped me off in Lichfield near the big bead shop I like. I was in there for an hour and a half, before pottering around the main shops in the precinct where I found and bought some grey cropped trousers. I noticed the big Methodist church has a digital tv screen thing fastened to the wall that has changing screens showing service times, dates of the book sales they hold etc.......very 'up to date!'

I see Jane has gone now, nice cooler weather for her trip. I remember going on a boat up the river during a schooltrip to see a play at the theatre. There were tiny opera glasses then.....I couldn't see a thing through them.

I hope Ros does well with her stall tomorrow Frank. Some would be going or coming back from holiday on a Saturday so tomorrow could be a better day.

Mandy, fancy the chemist handing out the tablets to someone else!! Ours always asks your address and checks it is what is on the label they put on them before they hand them over.

I sent a cheque and application form to open an account a week or two ago and they have written to say the money and words I wrote on it are incomplete/don't agree. (I was in a hurry at the time!). They want me to send another cheque, but haven't returned the OLD one!! So how do I know it was incorrect as I only have their say so??? :-S I'll have to ring them on Monday now. I had to chase the refund for the patio table and chairs that went back........now the refund has been made, they have forgotten to refund for the cover we bought with it. :-S Another phone call for Monday! :-S

Reletively speaking it's safer than some former addresses Ive had in this city.

Frank a few years ago I used the Claremont Road car park in Newcastle and the was an old For Consul on four stacks of bricks.

Someone had pinched its wheels.

Sorry about all the coc# up with the postings, I tried to [post ] for ages this morning. I finally put it to the bottom of the screen, and it was still there tonight. so tried posting again !!! What a complete farce it is with GENES at the moment. I am having more and more trouble getting on here. I have FOUR different avenues to get non here and all are coming up with ERROR NOTICES. I think it's time WE ALL COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SERVICE. Then they might ONLY MIGHT, do something to compensate us, for all the trouble we are encountering.

Went out about 1,00 and walked up to see Ros. She had sold one necklace., and it was a bit quiet where they were. I then walked down to the Canal, after a few stops on the way. I only stayed for a little while, then had the job of getting back home.

Ros came home about 5.30 pm. Not a lot of passing traffic (people). But tomorrow, the garden is open to the public, so it might get busier.

Ros went off about 9.45 to get the stalls ready with the other girls/ladies. Had good coverage on local Radio this morning. They are hoping for a massive turnout again this year.

I will get showered and shaved later, and try to pop down to see what's going on, along the canal, and try to walk up to see Ros.

During that hot spell, I got three bites on my left foot, and one on my neck.. I have been putting TCP and Savlo# on them, but the scabs will not come off.. I want to scratch them, but they are still sore to touch. Ros put a plaster on the neck one last night as it looks so angry. (I can't see it)

We have been getting our EGGS from Martine's friend, But I have noticed the whites are like water and spread all over the pan, and the yolks go flat as a pancake, and are cooked and dry in no time. Are they stale eggs, or are the chicken's not getting the right feed ??? Never had it from mine. !! Auntie Mel should know.

I suppose Mrs. Trouble will be in Stratford now. Do hope she has the time for a trip up the river, such a pleasant hour or so, and you see some lovely properties. and go by the Theatre. Does anyone know if they are going to see a play. ???

All quiet on here again this morning.

David, It might be a good idea if you could get someone to put the car on "BLOCKS" it would save the tyres rotting away. That's provided no one pinches the wheels :-( :-( :-(

Cloud and wind starting to build here, so might get some showers, if so I will stay at home !!!

Afternoon all

I'am about Mel i had a day yesterday getting forward with jobs as hubby is now on holiday for the week and we're hoping to have a few days out next week.

I see Jane has gone ,hope they both enjoy the weekend away.

What a performance today when hubby went to pick up all his tablets from Boo*s...they said they had already been collected .....so THEY had given some one else all hubby's tablets !! and some of them were his strong pain killers too!!
He then had to take in to Boo*s all the boxes of tablets that he had left so they could see what he was taking ,they then gave him all that was on the prescription.
But he now has no repeat for the next lot of tablets , some one else has that along with his name ,address and all the tablets he's taking !!
They said they would look into it and let us know whats happened , we're not happy at all about it .
Suppose those strong pain killers get into the wrong hands , with hubby's name and address on them !!!

Hope the weather holds for the Celebrations Frank ,keep on eye on those bites my niece had one on her leg and it turned really nasty she had to have it dressed every day by the nurse for a couple of weeks it got so bad ,and it's left quite a hole in the front of her leg now.

It's a bright day here although it's cloudy , might have five minutes with my book now .

Been doing some shredding too. :-0 :-| What a noise , think I will have to find my ear plugs, it's awful.

Time for lunch , think I will have a cheese toastie
