Jane don't tell oh about the bib or he will want to get one for me!!!!!!!! I am always dropping gravy on my shelf and sometimes when we eat out!!!!! He always says he can't take me anywhere..................
When we went for the Christmas dinner last year for the bell ringers one woman had a very posh neckless that had two little pegs on each end. These you pegged on to a serviette and he thought that was great.
Poor Franky boy. Now calm down for aunty Mel now your lovely wife has aquired you your crutches. Just mind the paintwork when you use them.
No I hav'nt had forty winks this afternoon. I am not really one for napping during the day.
Just been up the tunnel in the pouring rain to pick beans for dinner and forgot the carrots so have to go up there again and I need to pick the mushrooms off the lawn as there are lots again. I have steak and kidney for tonights dinner as it is such a horrid wet day but it's not cold. Shall pop a couple of dough boys in t fill him up. Think he is having 80 winks at the mo at least it is nice and quiet without the telly blaring away.
Jane I saw you on the veg thread :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Crikey I'm staying clear of you Frank ;-) ;-) All that shouting and yelling lol.But I see Ros has come to the rescue and got some crutches.I think we actually have a couple knocking around here from when James used them. You would have been welcome to those.
No chocolates arrived here last night. That parachutist must have delivered to the wrong address :-S.I still think it is strange though, but haven't heard anything.I have never seen anyone parachute near here.
Fiona I'm sure your hairdresser will be very gentle with your head, and you will fell like a new woman :-D :-D.
Mel you really did have a bad night didn't you.I bet you are feeling like a wet weekend now :-S.It is horrible when you get a night like that.Strange you both had a bad one.
Chris always manages to drop food down the front of him :-S :-S.I have ordered an adult size baby bib for him lol On the front it says WARNING I am retired .I know it all and have plenty of time to tell .(something like that ).He really needs one of those plastic pelican bibs. Bless him :-D
Well I have been back in shorts and sleeveless top this afternoon. It suddenly got really warm.Mind ,I was hoovering and cleaning, but I'm still in them, and the patio door and back door still open.
Chris said he saw a white cat at the bottom of the garden this morning. It had a black tip to its tail and a black patch on its head.I wonder who that one belongs to.I was hoping it would have still been around when I came downstairs but it had vanished.I would be quite happy to have a little cat come and visit me now that Chester has gone.

Afternoon everyone. DON'T ASK HOW I AM. :-D :-D :-D
I Got up at 9.00 am. had a wash, and flopped on the sofa, Ros bought me a bacon sarnie and tea, and tablets. She had to be a Martine's at 10.30. then the hairdressers for noon, to have the hair cur and sorted out. SNAP FIONA !!
I had a call from the Receptionest at the GPs to say they couldn't arrange the crutches, and it had to be done through the District Nurse. I said "GET HET TO CALL ME" when she did, she said NO I can't authorize CRUTCHES. !!! I hit the roof, and said "ANOTHER BLO~~Y JOBS WORTHS> passing the buck around to anyone, and BUGG#R the patient. I said I would sort it my self and piut the phone down. Within a hour she was knocking on the door. As I couldn't get up. I* called for her to come in. She said I could tell by your voice how frustrated you were. She examined mt knee, but admitted she was unable to help. and for me to contact the Hospital. The long and short of it is. I have had my appointment bought forward from 14th Oct. to 23rd Sept. And will have to manage till then !!
Ros is calling round to A & E to see if she can obtain some crutches, to make it easier to get round at home.
SORRY for all my woes, but I am up to my TEMPER threshold, and something has to give. !!!
I missed what happened to MOCHA, I will have to look back.
What a job getting on here today, THIRTY PAGES AT A TIME or else the ERROR PAGE. I'm off again :-D :-D
Ruby, I will worry about that when they arrive, you wouldn't believe that my son is a landscape gardener, and I have to do it or Ros.
Yes Jane I had a dip in the River Ise, before you saw me yesterday ;-) ;-) ;-) Chris's card went in the post this morning. !!
Oh Mel, what a night you had. !!! I bet you will get 40 winks this afternoon. the B fox is around again then ??
Mandy, We had rabbits when I lived on Barton Road. Big white begger's they were too. They were everlasting getting out , and going into my neighbours garden, and eating his veg. plants. I would crawl through the hedge and try to catch them before he saw me. !!But one morning, there I was in my PJs when he came out into his garden. He was STONE DEAF, and an ex butcher with BOSWORTH and BEDFORD. I introduced myself, but he didn't understand. and said "YOU aren't my ex Partner. I gave up and crawled back through the hedge :-D :-D :-D We never spoke again :-P :-P :-P
You will be POSH now then Mandy with your new floor down. What JOB have you got lined up for him now ???
Jane, That bloke in the parachute was more than likely dropping off some Chocolates you know "THE LADY LOVES MILK TRAY" :-D :-D :-D
Ros has just phoned to say, she walked into A & E and picked up some crutches, without any trouble at all. BLOOD# RED TAPE and JOBS WORTH.
See you later.

Morning Everyone, Evening Kim
WELL I have taken the plunge and made an appointment at the hairdressers tomorrow to get my hair cut, Victoria was there this morning and saw that my usual hairdresser was back from Maternity leave, I have known her for years and trust that she will be able to do the job without touching my scalp, so keeping fingers crossed I'll look like and feel like my old self again when I come out. :-D :-D
Another wet day here started to wear jumpers now as it is chilly especially in the evenings, the heating has just come on that means it's colder outside. another coffee I think :-D

Morning all and evening Kim,
I have had to worst night for a very very long while......................
Firstly wennt out for a cig at 12.10am ad thought the pond pump was making a lot of noise so I turned the light on and it was down about 6 inches which is why the returned water was making a splashing noise as it had so far to fall. Oh had been giving it a water change that afternoon and was refilling it from the well up the garden. He had been and turned the pump off but l;eft the end of the hose in the water and all he had filled it up went back down the well. I had been down the garden and pulled the hose out the water when I realized what had happened. You should have heard the noise it made as the water in the pipe went back down the well!!
So off I go to bad about 1.30am, I layed there and layed there and oh was awake too and he got up twice and came back to bed and then I thought, I don't remember shutting the bantams and chicks in when I fed the hedgehogs............ oh was up and watching telly by this time. just dropping off and thought about the fox poo we have been getting in the garden nearly all blackberries............that did it I had to get up and go and see if I had shut both houses up. I had'nt but oh must have and that was at 3.26am. went back to bed and left oh watching the telly. Got up at 20 to 11am. Knackered............................ :-S :-S :-S
So how was your night????????????
Frank how's the knee today. I hope you are in less pain poor fellow.

Morning all,
Dull here this morning but not at all cold .
Have started my run of feeding the cats and the rabbits while our neighbours are away ,the cats are so pretty ,two little Bengals and i think the bigger one is a Bengal too but he is quite white under the belly ,one grey and a black one !! the Bengals look like little tigers with the stripes on their tails !! They come and go as they please with the cat flap ,they eyed me up as if to say what are you doing here where's mum !! but once the food went down they were fine . Hubby's laying the kitchen tiles so i won't be doing much in the kitchen today, might have to be a take away for tonight unless we pop out some where to eat .
I see your knee has been really painful Frank, hope your not trying to do to much too soon ,rest up like a good boy :-D :-D
And Fiona i see you had a fall ,thank goodness you didn't hit your head ,it really shakes you up when you go down like that so hope your feeling better too.
Better go ,hubby wants coffee !! got to keep the workers happy . BBL
Oh just noticed it's friday the 13th !! :-S

Hi Ruby.I wouldn't know who to call about that parachute :-S.I keep thinking about it and still am bemused by it.It was just very weird to see.It could I suppose be someone doing a practice jump. But in the dusk ??? It was me who asked how to cook the Okra :-D,What is cornmeal? is it just like flour?
I love to think of George going to school and coming back with his name tag on :-D :-D.I think you are a brick having him to stay as long as a month, and I can quite understand you feeling a bit peeved having to feed and look after George for this length of time.I don't think you are being selfish at all.I think we all get set in our ways and a few days of visitors are fine but much longer ,you just want to get back to normal .
I think I am just about ready for the zzzzzs. All that sitting around at the hospital this morning must have worn me out lol. Night Night x

I missed Franks post. Sorry to hear your knee is painful today Frank and what a fuss about ordering a pairof crutches for you.
Oh's shoulder is worst today too. He is in a bit of pain and said it did'nt hurt yesterday but does today.
Hi to Ruby.
Ann the yellow is from all parts of the tom plants. When I look at the stems of mine they have little hairs on them covered in a yellow moisture. I think it is what the plant produces to attrack insects to feed on beleive it or not. I have to wash my hands three times with soap to make sure I don't wipe it on the towel when I dry my hands as you said you noticed it on your towels.

Hello everyone,
Just popping in for a few moments, wanting to wish you holiday girls a good time, and hope the weather is warm for you.
I have old George here and we are getting along fine. I'm afraid I've become a little selfish since I've been alone, and sometimes feel a little resentful at having to prepare a meal when I'd much rather be on the computer! I try to keep him company but he tends to nod off quite a bit. We've been out for many meals though. Our weather is supposed to start cooling off shortly - perhaps then I'll get something done outside. I'm still picking okra and bell peppers. I forgot that someone asked me about the okra. I just wash it, top and tail, and slice it. Then coat with cornmeal, mixed with salt and black pepper, and fry in oil until it's crisp. Restaurants serve it deep fried, but I do it the southern way. My M I L taught me her way when I first came to this country, and that's the way I like it the best. Okra is used a lot in Cajun cooking - gumbos in particular. I like it in a chicken stew or soup. I cut it up and freeze for soup later.
Thankyou William for your pictures. I too think the tiles are smashing.
Frank, I was wondering who is going to plant all those bulbs? Hope your knee soon improves. My husband had a knee replacement some years ago, and I remember he had a lot of pain and swelling afterwards. In fact, it never was really comfortable for him. He had to constantly keep packing it with ice to help with the swelling and pain.
My D I L came and picked George up this morning, and took him up to the Elementary school to have lunch with my 5 yr. old GD. They get to sit at a separate table with their guests. He said she hugged him and told her friends he was her Uncle George from England, and he was thrilled to bits. He came back with his nametag still stuck to his shirt - very proud he was.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend,
Rubyx

Oh My Goodness.I have just seen something so strange. A parachute with obviously someone on the end of it floating down in the distance. Considering how dark it is now it seems very odd that someone would be doing that by choice.I haven't heard a plane in distress or anything. It just appeared out of the blue.At first I thought it was a hang glider or microlight. But it was definitely a parachute.I dashed to get my camera but it had disappeared behind the trees. I hope everything is ok and whoever it is has a safe landing somewhere. It just seems too dark for someone to be parachuting just for the fun of it.

I've found those yellow stains too Mel and they've even appeared on towels after washing hands and we use soap everywhere. I even noticed the yellow marks up my arms. I thought it must be the tomatoes yet I can't remember getting them in other years.....most odd. I doubt it is the pollen either as there aren't many flowers on them now.
Frank, what a palaver about the crutches. Why is it so often that people don't know what their 'job' is and send folk off on wild goose chases wasting everyone's time. Heaven help us when we are really old!! Your poor knee sounds very painful. I hope resting it is helping.....waited on hand and foot......you are not at Luton Hoo now you know!! :-D
Pat I think sometimes you go off your car when it's been in an accident anyway. Poor Mocha getting his claw tangled like that........you'll have to put him in little boots! I can just picture him in the window watching for Alan. :-)
Jane I meant to say about the old newspapers......I imagine they have only been able to copy and put on line those that have survived so many may be missing which doesn't help.
OH has had his scan and when I dropped him off the carpark queue was 2 streets long. We called at the farm shop on the way home for a few bits and bobs.
One of the friends I was meeting tomorrow has been poorly all week so can't come. She saw the doc again today and she has to have a brain scan tomorrow.

Maureen our flight is 7.15 AM :-S from Birmingham.I think we have to check in 2 hours before. We are staying at a hotel near the airport but the courtesy bus doesn't start running until about 5.30 so we will have to get a taxi .I reckon we will have to be up at 4 !!!!! Not looking forward to that bit.It always make me feel a bit sick getting up and setting off that early. But at least once we check in we will have time for a bit of breakfast and cup of tea.
Oh poor Mocha Pat.There must be something you can do .He must have been quite distressed being stuck like that :-(
Mel I have handwash soap in the kitchen.I never thought it might not clean your hands properly.Sometimes I wash mine with Fairy as it is right next to the sink. Love the sound of your scone and Brimble Jelly :-D :-D
Oh dear Frank I would have thought your knee would be less painful now and not more. Are you taking your pain killers properly????.I'm trying to think how painful James's knee was after he had the same op,(but can't really remember).I will ask him when I speak to him.He is on the plane now on the way back to Heathrow. He won't be back here though until Sunday or Monday.
Ann I hope OH got on ok with his scan today.Isn't hospital car parking expensive.I think Fitz paid £4.40 for the time we were thee this morning.
Well we went to the Community Centre at Barton (Frank will know where) to see the proposed plans for all the new road changes. It was chock a block with residents and it was SO hot .Not one window or door open.I couldn't wait to get out of there. When work starts it is going to be total chaos and Mayhem :-S :-S
It has warmed up so much I have got the patio door open !!.Sundays weather looks really horrible so we need to make the most of Saturday.
I saw my little homeless man again today. He was sat on a bench near the Parish Church reading a book !!.,and he actually looked as though he might have had a clean up somewhere,as his hair looked clean and fluffy :-D.His bits of cardboard were stuffed down the front of his top .
William, thanks for the pics.I loved the tiles. So colourful, they will add a bit of the Mediterranean to your garden when you put them up :-D.I thought they were lovely. Those Meringues on the cake stand looked good too :-D :-D
Fiona ,thats is good your arm isn't too sore today.Sometimes things stiffen up the day after a knock .
Mandy I hope all is well .How is that kitchen now ???
I better get the oven on for dinner.I am still full after lunch out so will just have a bit of chicken and veg.I couldn't eat potatoes or rice. I have made so many little pasties (all cooked). Can i freeze them and then reheat)? There are far too many to eat in the next couple of days.

That's interesting Mel. I always have soap in the bathroom but have hand wash in the kitchen and that's where you'd want clean hands before eating or cooking maybe I'll just have soap there as well.
Sorry to hear you're in such pain Frank, must be nice to have Ros fuss over you, don't make too many demands though or she'll probably tell you where to go ;-) What did you think of Whitechapel by the way.

Right eaten that and washed my hands with Car*x handwash. Now there's a thing!! Just how clean are you after useing a hand wash??????? well I will tell you and I have a feeling hsower cream is the same.
Went up and picked tomatoes came back and washed my hands with the hand wash really well. Went and got some white washing off the line and wondered what the yellow marks were on it????????? Chucked washing back in the machine and went and had a leak and washed my hands in the bathroom with soap. Clouds of bright yellow foam and I had to wash them again and again to get it all off. It was off the toms but the handwash did'nt wash it off only the soap did. So a word of warning as to how clean your handwash will get you. Same with shower gel. I always wipe myself over with a damp flannel to get the worst of the water off after a shower. I had popped the flannel in with the boil wash and it was nice and clean untill I had had my shower!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I had finished wiping myself down it had a dirty mark in the middle so it was another shower but this time with soap..................................................

Hi all, Thought I had better pop in, I don't want you worrying. !!
Still in my dressing gown. I got up this morning and could hardly put my foot to the ground. I hobbled out to the sofa on my stick, and have been there all day. The knee is an absolute BAR STEWARD today, It won't let me move around at all without hellish pain.
Ros got my breakfast and drinks all morning, lunch, and has prepared the meal for this evening. Even bought me a bowl of water, flannel and towel so I could have a wash this morning.
She has been up to collect the scripts. this afternoon, and asked about crutches for me. They gave her a No. which I rang, and was told the GPs had to order them on line and they would deliver them to me, and collect them when I was finished with them. I rang the Drs. and reception knew nothing about it. I said well ask someone who does !!!, as every Drs. in the County have their contact details. I was not a HAPPY BUNNIE.
Jane I don't know what colour eyes I had, I only know it took me ages to see properly again. I rang the Hospital this morning to make an appointment for my cataracts to be looked at. Was told to ring back Monday as they hadn't received the paper from the opticians . Then after lunch I had a call to say they had a free appointment at 11.00 am, at Daintre Hospital, Daventry on Tuesday. So I have taken that one. But she said DON'T DRIVE as you will have to have more drops. THAT'S ALL I NEED :-D :-D :-D
We watched Whitechapel last night, so didn't catch WDYTYA. Might catch it on catch up. this evening. While she watches her soaps.
Back to the sofa now, to put my leg up.

No sun at all here today just that horrid cloud and very fine mizzly rain that dos'nt really make you wet. I did put my damask tablecloth on the washing line as it had dried out too much to iron it this morning. It should be just about right now.
Am sitting here eating a fully loaded scone with butter and homemade brimble jelly. Luverly......................................It is a bit dangerous as the jam keeps slipping off so I must watch the keyboard.
