Oh SAND.I hated the stuff getting stuck in between my toes and inside my cossie in the most uncomfortable places :-S.Glad you all had a lovely time Mandy.Good job you packed those towels :-D.Oh dear that poor lady ! and all the things in her bag !!!!!
I know those shelves. One minute you are calf deep in water and the next step it's WHOOPS !
I thought we were going to get a huge downpour just now ,but no just a little shower. But we had a nice rainbow.Got a pic .I haven't seen a rainbow in a long time.

Just doing dinner.Southern Fried Chicken Fillets ,Parmentier (sp) potatoes,French Beans,Tenderstem Broccoli ,and (Broad Beans) for Chris.

Evening all,

We've had a lovely day ,yes there are dunes at Hemsby Ann , we were down on the beach by ten ,it was lovely and sunny but it clouded over with a few spits of rain by lunch time ,as it got a bit harder we packed up and headed back to the car ,by that time it was really coming down so we went for a cup of tea , the rain eased up so we had a wander round the shops and got home about four .
We sat people watching, one poor lady was having a paddle in quite shallow water but there was quite a drop down once you got in the sea and the next minute she was up to her waist !! ,she had a bag with her which dropped into the water so all her things were soaked !!
We also seemed to have brought a load of sand home with us :-S :-D

DIL is usually pretty good remembering things but she forgot their beach towels !! luckily i had taken two towels so we just had to share.

Hubby has nodded off already in the chair ,i think we'll sleep well tonight with the sea air !!

No Frank I mean claggy :-D.If my throat is a bit catarrhy that is when I say it feels claggy. You are so lucky to be picking your runners.Mine have a way to go yet.But I did pick a load of French Beans today. All the peas and Broad Beans have finished now.The carrots are ready now and I think cabbages too.Loads of Onions look ready. Some smashing Red ones :-D.I use a lot of Red Onions when I roast veg.

No Maureen I am not looking forward to 28plus degrees again on Thursday. But we have had such a long run of fantastic weather this month .Must just about be a record now.I bet you can't wait to jet off to Spain in Oct.Will it still be hot then?

David as you say some things are just not meant to be.Have you had any Nephews/Nieces ?My Aunty Betty never had children but almost thought of Janice and Me as her children, especially when she was old and on her own.It used to annoy my Mum which made me very cross at times. When she had Dementia it got worse and she sometimes would think Betty was trying to take us girls away from her.
It was sad that she always had some kind of jealousy thing going on with her sister.I never really could fathom out why.Obviously something from many many years ago.
Families eh!!!!!
I am just so pleased there is no animosity in our family.I couldn't stand it if there was.
I hate squabbles.

The internet is still being a right pain in the rear.James and Jess haven't been able to book their holiday today as it keeps crashing.

Still not a drop of rain !!!!!! We seem to be in a little bubble here and it just bypasses us.I thought it was supposed to rain this afternoon.Mind you there is still plenty of time.
Just going to check emails I see have arrived before the pooter goes down

Oh bum, Have lost a big posting AGAIN.

The weather here has changed for the better Sunshine all the way now and quite warm Good for Mandy and Mel. Hope they are enjoying themselves. <3 <3

Dug another root of potato's today. Too many for dinner, but I will cook them all, as Ros likes cold potato's

Also pick another load of Runner beans. again too many for dinner really, but I'm sure we will eat them all. I only picked those from three plants. The rain has certainly bought everything along.

Carolyn wants a cucumber and some un-ripe tomato's, so I have picked her a few, and a nice cue. I found a couple of nice ripe toms. so they were eaten on the spot.

Fiona, Take a couple of days to relax, and get over the children. It's nice that your other daughter has stepped in to help you out.

We refer to CLAGGY when a cake is a bit under done, When it's hot we say CLAMMY , Is that what you meant Jane. ???

I always like cowboys and Indians when a small boy and going to Saturday morning pictures,. I was an ABC Minor. 6d for sat. morning. and a 1d spec from the greengrocers on the way home.

Roast chicken, new pots. Runners, peas and new carrots, with swede. if we fancy it.

Ellen and I have no children,never could,never will,I'm sterile.

Some times, very occaisionally I wish I'd one of each, but it's not the way it is.

I'm never up early enough to catch the sunrise so thank you William for the photos, by the time I got up this morning it was tipping down with rain hope Mandy has better weather, by Thursday we should have the hot weather back again, yippee, sorry Jane, I know you're not keen on it.

Not much ironing this week, most people are off on holiday might give me a chance to start on my tax return :-0 I've been putting it off with the nice weather, there's no excuse now.

I was never a big fan of westerns but quite liked Bonanza, Michael Landon to be more accurate. Wasn't Angie Dickinson in Police Woman.

I can imagine how exhausted you were Fiona, just a weekend at my daughters and I really appreciate the quiet when I get home, but it is lovely to see them, Harry is talking a lot although quite often I need an interpreter and Chloe has smiles for everyone. Am looking forward to October, I am going away with them to Spain and also her partners parents so there'll be no shortage of grandparents to spoil them.

Jane Report 30 Jul 2013 13:34

Yes David I always say claggy.(think it is great word :-D) it is claggy today.I use the word when my throat feels sticky.

Oh Fiona no wonder you were exhausted after all the hoo ha with little Sofia.Bless her little cotton socks. It can't be very nice for her having the drops and then the patch.

Frank,I'm keeping the mattress for a couple of weeks to see if it gets a bit softer. But as I said I have 30 days to try it.Tonight Chris will be in it ,then tomorrow I'm going to suggest James and Jess have a turn.

We don't have a little bin for food scraps yet.I cringe sometimes when our glass stuff gets sorted and then thrown in the lorry. Its all bottles !!!!!!! Not just wine ones ,but in this hot weather a lot of beer bottles have gone in too.I often take bottles to the bottle banks but in the last week or so I have noticed that several have been removed which is a bit of a pain. They just seem to be at the big supermarkets now.

William your red sky was beautiful ,just the same here.Chris said he was also up at 5am lol for the same reason as you. :-D

I see GR are TESTING :-D.Lets hope the gremlins get sorted with the continual error thing.

Lunch time now.

Fiona Report 30 Jul 2013 12:36

Morning Everyone,

Wow We have had a busy last few days, and I am tired, been cleaning for visitors that came on Sunday, it poured down the whole time they were here, so we just sat around , drinking tea/coffee and chatted, they were happy to see Sofia & matteo , and When we did get a a glint of the sun they were all out to see what OH had done in the garden. they went back yesterday morning as MIL has an appointment for her post op today, ,she will ring later when she gets home.

Baby sat Matteo yesterday afternoon while Victoria took Sofia to the eye hospital for an eye test,Sofia was a brave girl and was ok about the woman putting in the eye drops, and was full of news about the patches she has to wear to on her left eye so the right one can work stronger, but after a time and her mum says lets put the patch on, all HELL broke loose as daughter first put the patch on the wrong way and it stuck to Sofia's eye lashes,
after that Sofia went mad and we had a crying fit and would not let Victoria put on the patch, finely it calmed down and she managed to keep it on for a half an hour then all the fuss started up again cos she wanted it off, and mum said no it has to stay on for an hour,
I was so exhausted by the time we left with all the carry on, that I told Victoria that I would not becoming up today to look after the children again while she went to see the doctor for a blood test, so my other daughter Katherine and OH went up this morning and I managed to get a lie in Phew!!!!!

Look how well Clint Eastwood has done since.
Gunsmoke with James Arnesd AKA Mitter Dillon Miss Kitty
Ponderoza

Was an aging Angie Dickinson in a TV cop series?
I remember when she was trying to seduce John Wayne

Think kind thoughts of your Father Ann, they're not all tactile.
He was only being protective.

Morning all/Evening Kim.

Been raining here since before 9.00 am. Very heavy half hour ago, just as I was getting the bins in.

The blue bin takes everything from cans, bottles, paper & cardboard. Ros said when they tipped ours on the back of the truck, it sounded very noisy, with all my beer cans, where most peoples just went in with hardly any noise. !!! The little food container for any waste food, peelings, tea bags, etc. Is collected by a guy running up the close with a big wheelie bin and transferring all the food stuff into it. A lot of work for re-cycling . Our Green bin was full to capacity. He had a job to move it.
(I LOVE PEOPLE WATCHING ) lol

Spoke to the Doctor this morning on the phone surgery. He told me to leave off the new tablets for a few days, and start back on the old one. Then on Friday to start taking the new one TOGETHER with the old one. And to let him know how things go. !!

Ros is off soon for her "SHOPPING DAY" with Carolyn. We don't need anything from Tesc#, but I bet that won't stop her buying anything :-D :-D :-D

Mandy, I do hope the weather is better for you, than it is here. Enjoy your day out anyway.

Jane not another change of BED. I bet those blokes will love you, having to cart the mattress up and down the stairs ;-) ;-) Don't forget the VALANCE

Ann, I would be incline to contact the suppliers of the table and ask them if they do an assembly service. The last thing you want is for the glass to break.

So I didn't get back later last night, naughty me! We had a thunderstorm that took up residence here and went round and round for ages, not to mention the many deluges.
As an antidote, I took photos this morning that totally disagree with what went before and what has come after. I've emailed them out.

I had a appointment at our surgery around midday, then had to pop a referral into the George Eliot XRay dept, then we went into Nuneaton. We had plans to do the shops but rain put a change to our plans. We did some shopping in Asd* then made for home.Prior to that we called in at the Air Ambulance Charity shop. I spotted this lovely picture, don't if you call it semi-tapestry or what, but it caught my eye and Carmel loved it too. It measures about 18"x12" and was only £3.45p - so cheap when you think all the work and love some put into it. I'll photograph it and put it on later. Whoever did it, even signed it in thread too.
It looks great on our kitchen wall.

I agree, The Mill was very dark and Carmel went to turn the sound up and we ended up with one of the radio channels!!! She's not safe with a zapper :-S
We sat up late watching the Frank Skinner programme about George Formby, it was fascinating, the music was great and it brought back happy memories.

Been a week of techno faults here. I disconnected our phone when we had the bad storm, we had a phone ruined once during a storm. Anyway, when I reconnected, all the saved numbers had disappeared. It turns out the batteries had corroded and I don't know how it had functioned up till then! I cleaned up the terminals, new batteries and it's OK now. Carmel put the hex on the TV last night, but I sorted that out.
There was something else, but it escapes me at the moment.
Oh, yes, when I went to take the sky photos this morning, the batteries were low, then when I replaced them I had somehow turned off the little screen! TECH-GREMLINS, they're everywhere!!! So I missed the best of the 7am photo.

More mischief later C Y A L

Morning All and Evening Kim,

Clouded over this morning.

Went to ude yesterday and spent the day there just sitting up in the end of the quay bit by the lock gates then walked back and along the canal further than I had been before. We looked in a birdwatching hide and had a little sit in there watching various birds on the water and generaly loafed around and sat and watched people in there rowing boats make fools of themselves. Missed one classic moment when a chap rowing with a mate pulled hard on his oar and the oar slipped out the rollock and he ended up on his back in the bottom of the boat with his legs in the air, and it happened right in front of us. Gosh did we laugh!! Missed it on camera :-D :-D :-D

Don't know where we are off to today but we have been looking at the Lyton and Lymouth railway steamtrain ride. Something different for all of us.

I was so tired yesterday after walking around all day. We had a big BBQ when we got home and nattered til the early hours when I fell into bed and could'nt go to sleep.

Morning/Evening All
I bet Mandy is on the way to the coast now.Hope they all have lots of fun,and it stays dry.I used to love swimming in the sea when it was raining.Somehow it always seemed to make the water feel warmer lol.

Well after a sunny start it is now cloud and very close.Chris is having a break from hedge cutting at the moment.I think he sometimes must wish we didn't have so many big hedges. In September we will get the proper Tree Surgeons in to do the massive Yew Hedge and also do a bit of lopping .I know it will cost a fortune but it has to be done.

The new bed !!.........The mattress is far to firm for my liking :-S so as I have 30 days ,I am going to change it for a different one.It means going back to the shop to have a few lie downs again.I might take my own pillows this time ;-) ;-)

Phew it feels a bit sticky .I think I will put the fan on.

Ann good luck with the table today.I hope all slots into place for you.I bet it is heavy if it's glass.
Your OH will be glad to get rid of the BP monitor today won't he.As you said he probably didn't get much sleep with it attached .

I must get on now so will BBL

Annx Report 29 Jul 2013 23:24

Evening All,

Thank you for your post Maureen. I feel like I was an 'angel' now!! I think my dad would have burst a blood vessel if he'd had you!! lol. It was good you had supportive parents to help you through those years. It was a bit like Frank said, my parents seemed to think a roof over your head, food and clothes on your back was all a child needed.......no love or affection, barely any physical contact in my case. Thank goodness I grew up and can really appreciate all the good things in my life now. :-) :-) I never take anything for granted.

Well, OH has been wearing his BP monitor since lunchtime. We thought he was going to have to go back with it as it seemed to be 'going off' far more often than every 20 mins and he said with all those squeezes of his arm, his hand would be 'empty' soon!!! It seems to have settled down now though and will only go off every hour through the night, but I can't imagine him sleeping much!! It's been quite good today though.......he has to be QUIET when it bleeps and inflates!

We decided to assemble the new patio table this morning before he went to the docs. What a nightmare!! It is a glass topped round one and is still lying belly up on an old sheet on the gravel and all soaking wet now!!! It wasn't a cheap one, but the legs won't tighten properly and there are plastic slots under the edge of the table you have to wriggle each metal leg into without scratching through the surface on the glass.....almost impossible as the slots are nearly closed in the middle, and as you get one in another comes out!! :-S We are having another go when his monitor comes off after tomorrow....otherwise he says his BP would be sky high after 5 mins of wrestling with it!! I think I'm going to gaffer tape the glass where the legs push in to help stop any scratches. Why oh why can't the makers stick to keeping things simple!!!

I love liver and onions Frank, with cubed potatoes, carrot and swede.......so tasty! I pressed a tongue once, but seeing it through the process did put me off it a bit even though it looked fine. I've never had heart and trotters and tripe leave me cold, not keen on kidney either. Mum used to do Irish stew I loved in the winter with onion, carrot, pearl barley and dumplings.

Jane, I never even knew my doctor was retiring till he'd gone. I would love to have sent him a card as he'd been very good over the years and had been my 'official' doctor since he qualified. It is nice that word is getting around Chris's patients. :-D You'll soon have him around most of the time! :-) Hope you find the bed good to sleep in. The last beds we got have been the best we've had. They are memory foam mattresses and quite firm which we like!

David, Rawhide was my favourite, but there were so many cowboy series as you say. Sugar Foot, Wagon Train and I loved The Dakotas!! :-D

Hope you have some sunny spells tomorrow Mandy........I remember Hemsby, it's where my best friend's parents retired to and used to have nice sand dunes.

Jane

Jane Report 29 Jul 2013 22:20

Mandy ,I'll keep everything crossed for you tomorrow.Hope the showers stay away and you all have a lovely day.

Keep Calm Frank you don't want your feet to blow up or your head .Thank goodness Ros keeps a check on your tablets !!.

The internet is pants again tonight .It keeps dropping out.Must be to do with the weather I think.Although Chris's computer that is plugged into everything seems fine. It's my laptop which it the problem.

I'm off to the new bed now.I'm just wondering if I will actually sleep well in a bed that has never been used.We will see :-D

I watched some of 'The Mill' last night but found it so dark to see.I found it quite difficult and actually fell asleep :-S
Night Night xx

Evening all,

Just sent a STINKER to GENES, about the service they are giving us. NONE.

I have tried getting on here for ages tonight. If I go forward to many pagers, up comes the ERROR NOTICE. I am almost spitting nails.

Ros is having to go through my tablets. It isn't two I have to stop but FOUR. The trouble is I don't know what I take. She puts them in my little containers for morning and night. She does a month at a time. I really should learn to do my own. If she was to LEAVE ME I would be in a right mess. !!!

I have just found a bag from the hospital telling me I have to put all my medicines in it. Including over the counter products (ZIPVITE) Castor oil, crondortin. and two others. They say on the bag, they will destroy all medicines they think I don't need.
Let them dare, they cost us about £50.00 a month for us both. !!! All the vitamins we take can't be got though the doctors, but we find are good for our arthritis etc.

Have a good day tomorrow Mandy, Hope the weather holds out for you and the children.
