The pink Castle sounds a really good idea Fiona. How big is it? I can always remember when my dad had to fit a new boiler for someone or something that came in a very big cardboard box he always brought the box home for me when I was small. I can remember making a house out of one and drawing flowers all round it and making a door and windows that opened. It had roses round the door. Funny how certain things stick in your mind.
David can you get your emails now??
Jane I have plenty of recipes for liquers and flavoured gins etc.
Old headstones and grave goods are layed down in the cemetaries now because they could be a danger to people. I think it is so sad this has to happen as some round here are beautiful engraved large stones and stone angels etc. They must have been expensive when made. In our cemetery alone there are lovely crosses layed down. Just because there is nobody to pay for the repairs.
Poor Fitz must be like the bionic man with his fingers in metal splints. He will be glad when they come off I bet. How long does he have to keep them on?

Morning All,
Sunny here and washing all out. I'm now minus 2 teeth....boo hoo, and have just taken the gauze out and lost my hamster cheek! As I hadn't had any breakfast the dentist gave me a glucose drink. He said I could go home to eat instead and then come back in a short while if I wanted. He's West Indian with a dazzling white smile and is superb. He stood me up slowly after to see if I was wobbly and shook my hand before watching me to see I got down their stairs ok. All on the NHS too and I expected it to cost more than £31. OH will be glad to get his tooth looked at later.
We just sat up the garden watching the Buzzard enjoying the thermals and now I shall have a quiet day getting on with paperwork till I go to the hospital. Also make a few phone calls a bit later when I have full control of my lips to talk properly again!!! lol. :-)

Morning All and Evening Kim,
Sun is out at the mo but they forcast clouds and maybe showers.
We had a mist last night right over the garden again and so still quiet you could hear the water dripping off the leaves of the trees.
Fiona I am pleased for Katherine to have such a quick reply from passing out her CV's. Does show she is willing to work. Hopes she gets some joy with this one.

Yes Ann,if they will build a car park over a King, what chance have we got.
Body snatchers or resurrectionists as they were also known sad as they were played a role for the medical profession in the study of anatomy.

Evening All,
I tend not to think of any permanence with graveyards. If they can put a carpark over a King etc....!!! When they built the railway into the city here they miscalculated and went through graves instead of around the edge of a very old cemetry with 35,000 burials. Not easy to find your rellies there with just a wander around!! Headstones are flattened at a lot of churches now or placed around the edge like Jane says. I hate it when they do that as the wording weathers much faster. Pat must be chuffed to have found the headstones of her hubby's gt grandparents.
Mandy it sounds like a few nerves are a bit frayed with the wedding coming up! I'm sure it will all come good on the day. Did you manage to get a top to go with your skirt?
Fiona, a shame your Katherine didn't get the job she had an interview for. I must say I'm impressed with her using her initiative like that giving out copies of her CV......gives a good impression straightaway and shows determination and a willingness to work. I think I would have rung her too!! :-D Fingers crossed ;-).
Frank, that's good that it's done now so make sure you don't overdo it. Hopefully you will get a better sleep tonight, mind you Animal Planet is very good!! Luton Hoo for tea eh! Lucky you!!
Jane, if you are doing hair shampoos now don't forget the head massage will you! :-) .......and don't bash his fingers on anything! :-0 Breaking your fingers to fix them sounds odd. :-S
When OH took FIL home after the match last night his mum said the doc had rung to tell her he'd rechecked her reults and that she needed her Polymyalgia meds increasing and she told him to change the hospital for her endoscopy to Nuneaton!! :-D OH said FIL chuntered a bit, but OH soon told him it would be better for him too as he reckons winding journeys make him feel iffy!!!
OH has had a bit of toothache lately but it was quite bad last night and today so he's got an appointment at the dentist tomorrow as well. Then he'll take me to have the mammagram later. I would have gone on my own, but agree it would be much easier for him to drop me off and then try and park the car. What a nightmare parking is at city hospitals!
Better be off to bed now......loads of washing to go out in the morning on the replacement rotary we got today. We can put both up now and peg a few loads out at once.....might need more pegs......never thought of that! :-S

Jane,I think the council workers leave them on their backs rather than attempt to stand them and they fall over and hurt some one..
Some months ago the council sold by auction the two small houses that were inside the gates.
I think many years ago the residents in these where to deter body snatchers.

Fiona, good luck to Katherine tomorrow for the interview. The Pink castle sounds fun ! Mandy Plum Liqueur sounds good to me .I will look up a recipe. David I see so many headstones on their sides and propped up in odd places .I always think that is so sad as they aren't in the right places (i.e over the graves they should be over). Frank make sure you are dosed up on those painkillers tonight before you go to bed. No gusts of wind here tonight .Not a breath in the air. Going to dish up dinner now.

Jane, when those graves and their markers were relocates I wasn't informed.
I'd the impression that the grave yard on the other siside of the road was already "Full up"
The council authorities heightened the wall with scaffolding so that passers by in double decker buses couldn't see what was going on.
The purpose was to widen Sandyford Road and Jesmond Road without increasing the larger grave yard on the other side of Jesmond Road. All Saints Cemetry it's called.
When I searched All saints Cemetry so many memorials were on their sides
Rather depressing

Well. I never got into the garden. Have sat in the armchair with my leg up. I have been doing my exercises like a good boy. The area where I am getting the most pain from, hasn't been cut open. It must be where he rooted about, and cut off damaged cartilage. All I know that when it twitches, it makes me scream. Ros jumps a mile !!
Many. I bet the family will be pleased to see the next week over, You certainly have had a bad few weeks. Thinking of you.
Just a little sundress eh Jane. You mind you don't get a sudden gust of wind. ros has just called me for dinner, so will sign off.

Afternoon Everyone,
you all sound busy with one thing and another,
Went out for coffee this morning we all had a good moan and felt much better, the best hour & half of the week :-D :-D
Katherine didn't get the job in Glasgow, but at least she got an e-mail from them telling her :-( :-( she went into town today to hand in CV's to the shops she saw who were advertising positions, and was walking home when she got a phone call from one of the clothes shops would she please come for an interview tomorrow at 1, so that was good :-) :-) Katherine has been helping me with Sofia's pink castle ( a cardboard box painted pink and we have stuck turrets on it and made a draw bridge, she wanted one for her birthday, she has helped herself by glueing on the stars and glitter on it We thought we would put all her birthday presents in the castle on Sunday, so she will have fun opening the castle and unwrapping her gifts, might even try to get her to tidy up and put all her toys away in the castle :-) :-)

She even ask if DIL's sister would like to leave for the church from their house instead of her own home !!! her dad soon put his foot down on that one !! told her if she wanted him to give her away then she would leave from her own home !!
I did the hoovering but it was a lick and a promise that it had ...too hot to do to much !!
Jane what about making Plum Liqueur with those plums ,i thinks it's done like the Sloe gin but with Vodka or Brandy .

Oh Gawd Mandy !!!!!.I hope the suit ,waitscoat etc turns up.Can you call where it is coming form to see what's what ,or track it on line? When is the wedding ? I forgot when you said.As for the falling out between bride and her mum ,lets just hope it is all wedding nerves and hot weather .I'm not surprised your son is keeping well out of it lol.The lead up to weddings can be so stressful as everyone just wants everything to go to plan and no hitches.I think mine was quite straightforward. But I think back then things were far more simple .Church booked, reception booked, wedding car booked, dress ,flowers ,cake booked, photographer booked.Hairdressers booked for the morning n the day.I am feeling stressed just thinking about it !!!!!!!!. I'm sure all will be fine.Maybe Bride and Mum just need a bit of space from each other right now just to take a few deep breaths.
Chris has gone for a sleep. It is getting ridiculous .He feels so tired all the time. But I think it is his body just kind of winding down after 30 odd years of being a GP and not having any other responsibilities for the last few months other than seeing his patients. He even apologised just now for going for a lie down.I t's not like him at all. I just said if you need to then just go.It's fine by me.No probs. He is actually off this week except for Friday. So then I think it is just 6 actual working days left.YIKES!
I just hung some washing out and I could feel my back burning .The sun is so strong. The Swallows are busy again.I think I have decided they are Swallows and maybe House Martins that love our roof and Aerials

Never heard of one of those Jane. I usually just put them through a big sive once I have cooked them. I just had to skin them for the relish which is easy to do by just balnching them in boiling water and the skin comes off like a dream. Mind you they are a bit hard to hold after their skins are off and tend to escape from your hand a few times! :-0
Oh ordered some fish food on line yesterday. It arrived today at the time they said it would 1.04pm. Now I call that service!!
You know they are trying to to do something about the amount of porn on the internet? Well Oh has just told me that the houses of parliament have had 300,000 log in from there and they are the people who are running our country!!!!!!!!!!

Ha! David .It is just a sun dress. One of those with no straps and a stretchy band bit around the boobs.
Fans blasting away here too Mandy.I think tomorrow they will be going even faster is we get to 30 !!!.What a fantastic summer it has been :-D The post has just arrived and a top I ordered has come.I only had an email this morning to say it had been despatched.
Pat that was a good find for you. They must be pretty old if they are Alans.Gt Grandparents. Were the headstones easy to read? David I hate to think of graves being relocated :-(........Are families informed of this?It will be difficult for people doing family research if they look where they 'know' their ancestors were buried only to find them gone !! :-S

Patricia,glad you found them.
I have ny maternal GM's death certificate and also the receipt from the undertakers. Embalming, hearse plus 2 cars, interred in Jesmond Road cemetry...how much? £24 pounds and ten shillings.
You'd pay that for a bunch of flowers these days.
I know the exact plot she is interred in,but can I find it? No It's right at the back near the cricket ground wall and has been sadly neglected. I couldn't even find a marker.
Some 40 years ago the local authority relocated several graves from another grave yard on the other side of the road so as to widen the road.
