Morning all/Evening Kim,

I have sent on KIM'S reply to my FB Hope you have all received it. OH Bugger I didn't send it to Auntie Mel. I will do it after posting.

I found a programme on MY TELE last night about birds. This particular one hatches it's chicks and does not feed them on land. The parents call them at TWO DAYS OLD, and they leave the burrow and follow the sound. They end up in the sea and have to swim through the breakers to get to their parents, who then start to feed them. They will stay at sea for FOUR YEARS.
Now that had to be better than the XF

While sat up in bed this morning with my Cup of Tea. I thought of "CHAD" the drawing of a big nose looking over the wall saying "WHAT NO ~~~~" what ever was in short supply in the war. Now how does something like that just pop up in your mind. ????

I would be the same as Chris. Jane, I think I have only had pizza once in my life, and that was in a Pizza House. The same goes with A BIG MAC, KFC ,SUBWAY, and the rest of the junk food places.

It's been two hours since I started posting. and forgot to submit it. Silly old fool.

No sun for us today just cloud & rain, I think Autumn is here Jane,
Wore a trouser suit to church this morning, thinking I will be putting my summer skirts & sleeveless tops back in the wardrobe in the back bedroom for another year

We only managed one blackcurrant crumble this year, never happy are we, the berries were small because of the dry weather, collected a small bowl & left the rest for the birds.

Morning/Evening All
Harvesting at the back of us too Ann.The work quite late into the evenings .It's been 10/ 10.30pm some nights.
The Blackberries here don't look brilliant at all .They look very small and none black.
RememberBlackberry Picking as children :-D.Coming home with stained fingers and clothes :-)

I need to get some Potatoes as I'm going to do mash with the Lamb Shanks tonight.(they are still frozen).
It is a nice morning with just that slight Autumnal feel.

Oh It's Pinch Punch 1st of the month time again. :-D

Evening All,

Frank I'm not surprised you are paying for it with your knee! Just take it a bit easier now till the operation. :-) Thanks for the emails......love the Illusionist one!

That's good you found the 'Office' CD David. I use it all the time for doing letters, tables and for keeping spreadsheets for all sorts, wouldn't be without it, so I know how pleased you must be. :-)

Mandy, your sister has done her 'bit' by the sound of it and will no doubt be very missed, especially by the elderly folk. Best to finish while she can still do things she wants to do though and enjoy some time for herself.

I haven't done much today, called in the dogs' home shop as I was passing and got some rose shaped beads which will make nice centres for some beaded flowers. Then I popped to a garden club garden centre as it was the last day to spend my £6 of vouchers they sent. I got a tray of Pansies and some Violas with them, just need a bit of greenery to pop in between now. Some can go in the old wall planters by the front door and the rest in new wall planters that have arrived at W*bbs of Wychbold garden centre. We will go and collect them one day next week and have a look around Worcester while we are there. The garden centre had signs up all around the restaurant to be careful of all the wasps. OH said they were plagued with them at the match today.

The combine harvesters are busy in the fields, massive ones that kick up a right lot of dust. All down the lanes the big metal grain trailers are tooing and froing as well.

OH got a basinful of large blackberries from behind the fence in the field this morning. I will get some apples to go with them tomorrow. He also got plenty of nettle stings too! :-S

My sister is ten years older than me Jane ,and she has worked at The Grange for 37 years ,all night shifts !!
She now feels that she needs time for her self ,her knee is now getting painful and she's finding that it takes her longer to do her jobs at home .
I took sister a bag of tomatoes and she said i'll swap you for a carrier bag of cooking apples !! think i'll make an apple cake tomorrow .

We have just had our Pizza , i thought it was a bit on the dry side,it was from Te*co's a thin crust one .

It did seem strange driving home in the dark !! a bit nippy too ,should be a nice day again tomorrow ,hubby is taking all the old cushion flooring up in the kitchen tomorrow ,i'am looking forward to seeing the tiles being laid next .

Jane Report 31 Aug 2013 20:21

Oops Frank! I must be loosing the plot :-S
Don't think Chris is impressed with dinner tonight.Just about ready to dish up the Pizzas. He said "Is this my main meal of the day" !!!!!!!.I said yes ...enjoy.Tomorrow we have Lamb Shanks so he will be a happy boy then :-D
Just watching the 9/11 programme.God how terrible it was :-0 :-(. I suppose it is on now as it is coming up to the anniversary again.Even though it was just so horrendous I can't help but watch it.I remember when it happened .My Mum was staying with us and I was doing the ironing when it came on the tv.She couldn't understand what was happening and kept asking me if we were at war again :-(
I think of Fitz's neighbour Katherine whose BIL died in one of those towers that day,and he never lived to see his son born.
I'm going to have to switch channels as Chris won't watch that while we are eating.
Then it is the X F
:-D :-D :-D :-D

Frank Report 31 Aug 2013 19:54

I know you are getting old Jane, but senile ??? You ASKED me if KIM was still having trouble with her computer. You silly woman :-D :-D I said I didn't ask.
No need to remind me, what with the trash that's on at the moment followed by my favourite, IT'S ENOUGH TO DRIVE A MAN TO DRINK !!! Anyone for a beer. ??? I will be going onto my T.V. shortly. I am sure to find something worth watching. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Fiona, I bet you will be glad when they sort out your head, if they can. It must get very frustrating for you having to remember which hat you require for these days.

While in Hastings, Ros bought me another straw hat. The sun was very hot on my thinning scalp :-D :-D and she didn't want me to get my head burnt. Ah is that love ??

The Chinese was not up to their usual standard tonight, I must ring them to let them know. The beef which is normally so tender, was tough as a leather sole, I wonder if they have changed suppliers. :-| :-

Nice piece of pork with crackling for tomorrow, together with my usual medley of veg. Yorkshire pudding and roasts.

Enjoy your evening all, I'm off to find something to watch in the conservatory.

Jane

Jane Report 31 Aug 2013 18:57

Thats good David :-D.I know nothing about 'office' even though I downloaded an update for that today :-S
Fiona ,what happened about your tablets? I think you were waiting for a call from someone about them the other day.Good job you have all your different hats ;-).It must be so frustrating for you.

Well I had to come in as it was getting too chilly siting on the patio in no sleeves. It is cardigan time in the evening outside now I think.Chris is desperate to try out the new Log Burner lol.But I'm putting my foot down there.....It's not that chilly.

James sent me a pic from Brighton from the sea front and it looks absolutely heaving.
I was hoping he might have sent me some pics from the Grand Hotel.I asked him what it was like and his answer (tongue in cheek) was 'Grand'.I just wonder how he is enjoying the stay down there with all of Jess's family :-S.Probably tearing his hair out lol and biting his tongue.

Next door has just cut down an Elderberry tree which was laden with berries. It had been hanging over our summerhouse. It looks a lot lighter in that area now. :-D
Bet the poor Pidgeons will miss it though as they feed on those berries.
Chris is watering the garden.

Mandy your Sister will be sorely missed when she finishes work. She sounds a wonderful caring person .But as you say maybe it is time now she thinks of herself .I admire people like her who give up their time (especially when others are not prepared to)to help look after the elderly. Is she an older or younger sister?

I think we will not be having Pizza just yet.As it only takes 8 minutes there is no rush :-D.I have some salad to go with, and my Remoulade (that stuff made with Celeriac ) that looks a bit like Coleslaw.

Loaded on my "new" second hand PC Will use it in preference to Open Office.

Jane Report 31 Aug 2013 17:14

What did I ask you Frank??? .....What did you not think to ask???

We seem to have a lot of cooking apples. There were 4 pears too which seemed to have disappeared. The eating apples look ok but are still not very big.I think I have just about picked the last of the beans. There might be a few left but that is it for this year.

Mandy we are having Pizza too tonight.Chris isn't a huge Pizza fan but will eat it if it is put in front of him lol.I just fancied not really cooking today.I will do a 'proper' meal tomorrow.
I remember you saying that Colin's Sister was in a home and no longer recognised anyone. It is just so sad to loose a brother and a sister in just a couple of weeks of each other.
The sun has gone in and the nip is back. The evenings suddenly have lost the summer feeling.Maybe I can put all the fans away soon.

Frank one of your favourite programmes starts again tonight the X F :-D :-D :-D

Frank Report 31 Aug 2013 16:30

Mel, I AM SITTING ON THE NAUGHTY STEP :-D :-D Have managed to cut the back lawn and trim the edges, while Ros was at Tesc#. It looks so much better, with all the lines ,and they are straight !!

I must haved missed the news of Mandy's. So sorry to hear it, and so close together. Pass on my regards to Colin, even if I don't know him.

Can't answer that one Jane. I NEVER ASKED. Stupid Boy !!!

Johnathon called this afternoon, with a bag of cooking apples. That will be a job for tomorrow, getting them ready for the freezer. We have a very bad crop on the tree at present, more falling off, than on the tree, and they are no size. I think it might be time to replace it, it's been in 15 years. The pear tree hasn't bore any fruit either this year, so I think that might need to go also. No point in keeping them if they don't produce fruit. Anyone else having trouble with fruit trees ???

Ros is in the kitchen, making marmalade. We buy those big tins, that you add sugar and water to . We eat so much of it. It's beautiful.!!! The eight jars will last a few weeks only.

Ros dropped off a nice Orchid to Carolyn, and a bottle of scotch for John, to thank them for taking us to Hastings. It's so kind for them to think of us like that. !!

Sun still shining ,and I am still bare chested and in shorts.

Not sure what we will eat this evening. Indian is definitely a NO NO. So it will Chinese for Ros and I might have F & C.

.

Afternoon all,

Hot again, but your right about the morning nip in the air Jane,i woke up about five and got up and closed the front window as it was really nippy .

BIL's funeral is this tuesday at 1-15 at St Faiths Crem ,hubby's not to bad he's keeping his self busy and i think it helped a bit yesterday having the children here, as he said his sister was really going downhill so he expected to hear any day she had passed away ,but not his brother ,he was quite fit .

I'd never heard of those gardens Jane but i had a google and what a place !! :-D well worth a visit i think ,32 acres i wonder if you would see it all in a day !!
I was reading that one of the owners does the flowers for Norwich Cathedral .

What are you like Frank !! fancy walking all that way with your knee as it is you naughty boy you !! :-D
You get that knee rested up ,you don't want to get there and they say its to swollen to operate on and have to come home again !!

Pizza for us tonight ,we will have that later as we're off to see sister tonight ,she tells me that she has given in her notice at work she's had enough ,she had been there looking after the elderly residents for a lot of years now, about time she has some time for herself but i know she will miss them all she has been really dedicated to her work going in when others wouldn't work especially at christmas time so i'am sure she will be missed by them all.

We still haven't had birds on the feeders ,i suppose the berries are about and they are feeding on them !!

Mandy, so sorry to hear that Colin has lost another sibling. He must be so upset losing two in such a short time.

Frank will you NEVER learn. Fancy doing that to yourself just before your op.

Jane Report 31 Aug 2013 13:25

Afternoon everyone.
Another lovely day.But there is a definite nip in the air first thing in the morning.I have a row of Swifts/Swallows all chattering away on the TV Aerial. They make such a racket lol.Is it Africa they go for the winter? I can't remember.

Frank I am still going through all those emails .I love the Cat and the Owl one :-D
You better rest up that knee a bit before you go in for the op.So you go in the same day as Fitz goes in for his op on his little fingers.

I missed a call from my sister this morning. She was ringing from Norway, but said she would try again this evening.I bet they are having a lovely time just relaxing and seeing the amazing scenery .They really do need this holiday .

Chris trimmed back some firs this morning .I wasn't happy about him doing it as I think there might be a nest of Woodpidgeon .But he only went up so far as I told him I wouldn't forgive him if he disturbed anything.

That is good that the Seafront at Hastings is well looked after Frank.I would imagine the at most places like that they need to keep on top of things otherwise the tourists would go elsewhere.I have never been to Hastings .In fact there are so many places in this country I have never been to.I think it will be a good opportunity when Chris has finished work to make sure that we make an effort and get out there and see more of our lovely country.

Mandy I hope Colin is ok after his double dose of sad news.

I think it is time now for a spot of lunch.I have some left over Mediterranean Tart and some cold sausages.I think that will do fine.
Frank is Kim still having trouble getting on to GR?

Good Morning all/ Evening Kim.

I saw KIM on FB last night. I sent My her a message to say you are hoping she's well, and if she would like to send me a letter on FB I will pass in on.

Don't you believe it Ann, My walk has completely buggered me, even having stops and sits every few hundred yards. My left knee is the size of a JAFFA Orange, and so puffy round the knee cap. , I think it is fluid, and it's so painful. But you can't put me off when I get it into my STUPID HEAD that I want to do something. I can say "I DID IT" Ros and Carolyn said I would suffer, and they were right as USUAL.

Jane I go in on Tuesday 3rd Sept. at 7.15. Ros has said she will not collect me, unless they have done the operation. SO NO COMING HOME WITHOUT IT.

Have sent a lot of "SILLY'S" this morning, so hope you enjoy them. It has taken ages to send them to everyone.. If there is anyone apart from Mel who doesn't want them, let me know ??

Nice fresh morning here, Two lines of washing out,

I am going to get the mower ready,, so as soon as the washing comes in, I can get my lawns cut.

I must comment on how clean the Council keep Hastings sea front. The bins are emptied TWICE A DAY. The whole sea front is swept and a man picks up what the sweeper can't get. Then the washer comes along, and washes the promenade .
Threre are lots of Councils that could learn from them !!!
