When we were newly married we were forever arguing about who was going to wash the dishes. So one weekend I went to the Electricity Board show room amd bought Ellen a dish washer.Made us both happy. Were noe on our fourth or fifth machine I can't imagine E being without one.
Painting has progressed very well.Maybe wall papering by the week end.
Ive never been one for cracking the whip Jane,if it's not being done properly I would rather do it my self.

Hi I'm home after a lovely day at the beach at Widemouth and then after a nice stroll along the beach finding shells for Stephanie's garden we had a hot chocolate in the cafe place there, it had marshmellows cream on top sprinkled with choc and a flake. Us three girls had those the boys just had an ordinary coffee and a black one for oh. We then went on to bude and had a walk up the quay bit and then back for an icecream and we sat on the big bench things at the sid e of the canal and watched people making fools of themselves in the boats. They have peddlos and rowing boats for hire. We saw a poor duck that had fishing line stuck in it's beak and was towing the float and weights.
Then we walked across the beach to the cafe ( Lifes a Beach) and had lunch there and walked back.
Glad you got your dishwasher machine plumbed in today and it's now working for you.
Fiona thats an awful long while for a dishwasher to go on for? 2 and a half hours of leccy too. I am glad I have'nt got one.

Evening everyone,
Been sunny here all day again, at times a bit to hot to sit out !!
Jane , good to hear you've got the dish washer sorted in the end , i would miss mine especially when i have the family come for tea , i have two loads some times ,the top is usually full with tea and coffee cups . I do wash up if we're only having a light snack or we've been out for a meal .
Hope the weather was sunny for Mel on the beach today and that her side is not too sore so she can enjoy her day .
Fiona, hubby is filling up the green house i see ,plenty of room in there for the salad stuff next year :-D
Yes i wonder what our Frank has been up too ,i hope his tum settled down ready for curry night tonight !!
No ,no news from Kim lately ,the computer must still be playing up.
I wonder how our Shirl is too <3

Fiona I missed WDYTYA last night,maybe I have a look on i player .
Ann I'd love to see that film.I think it will come to the Wednesday morning showing at some point so will hopefully get to see it then.
Dishwasher in after a bit of a struggle .It seems it is just a tiny bit deeper than my old one and the back of the unit where it fits in has blown so has warped a bit.But it's in and is working so I'm happy :-D.The kick board though now needs a bit taking out .That will be a job for Chris.I wonder how long it will be before he does it ????
I went and bought some Pansies this afternoon and managed to drop a whole tray of 20 on the floor :-S :-S.What a mess.I pulled the tray out and as I was about to actually lift it the polystyrene broke off.So it wasn't really my fault ;-)
I expect Frank has been enjoying his little break in Hastings.I wonder if he has got himself into any bother ????.Did he say he is back tomorrow?

Hello all,
Just popped in for a minute. I have an applesauce raisin cake in the oven. It's one of my DIL's birthday today, and she likes a solid cake! I should have made it last night, but couldn't drag myself away from the computer.
What a wonderful apple tree Jane. Don't see many apple trees in this immediate area. I planted a couple years ago, but they didn't survive. They do grow up in the mountains. This weekend is Labour Day weekend, and there is always an apple festival at Hendersonville. We usually go and bring home loads of apples.
Great pictures William. I'm accustomed to the old car shows here, but so different from those posh cars! The flowers were super - I loved the colours in the arrangement that had different shades of green, with a little yellow and salmon colour. Green is my very favourite colour.
I have started back with exercise at the pool. I have a YMCA not far from my house. I used to go two to three times a week, but found I didn't have the energy for working outside, so quit for a while. It is with a great group of people - we have lunch together once a month. You can do exercise in the water that you wouldn't be able to do on dry ground. Many people there have had joint replacements.
I must go as I'm having company. Rubyx

Morning All. Evening Kim.
Quiet here today, OH working but not getting many phone calls some work people are still on holiday.
You will be glad when you can get back to your dishwasher Jane, mind you I would be lost without mine, the only problem I have with mine is that there's no quick cycle in this dishwasher, we didn't get a choice it came with the new Kitchen, and every wash cycle takes two & a half hours to wash, so it's quicker really to do the dishes by hand, BUT I don't :-D :-D
Did anyone watch WDYTYA last night with Nick Hewer , I found some of it interesting but very slow going, he mostly just sat and chattered on , he didn't even do any research himself.

Morning All,
Lovely and sunny here and OH just called me to see the Buzzards circling at the back.......tried to get a pic but they fly so high they look like specks on the camera.
Hope all goes well with the dishwasher this morning Jane.......I would hate to be doing dishes again now. I remember thinking do we really need one just for 2 of us, but even when I lived on my own I still used it! Market Harborough is a nice place and reminds me of Loughborough which I also like. Did you go in the charity shop at the carpark in Lutterworth William? I pop in that one sometimes.......very good for haberdashery bits and they sell bags of beads that I like to look through as well.
I'm off to Melton on Friday as OH has a council meeting there. I haven't been round the centre part for years as you don't drive through that part any more as it is pedestrianised. I might get OH a proper pork pie while I'm there! :-) It used to be great on horse sale days years ago......the old boys in gaiters would be sitting outside the pubs!!
This afternoon we are off to see 'Behind the Candelabra' about the life of Liberace at Warwick.
Hope you have a good day at Widemouth bay if you get there Mel and that your side is less wrenched today after your fall.
Popping to the shops down the road now while OH is weeding. :-D

You did well William to get the coat from your BIL lol.Market Harborough is a lovely place isn't it.There is a great Butchers there that I always visit if I'm that way.
David you can be there to crack the whip and make sure the decorator does a good job :-D
The chaps should be here any minute now to fit the dishwasher.I hope it is just a straightforward job today.I always used to think we didn't need one and was quite happy doing the dishes but once we got one I realised I never want to be without one :-D
How is Kim? Does anyone know?

Jane, I didn't know we were that close to you. To be honest we haven't been to M H for a while now, and it's less than an hours drive, and a nice drive at that. We took Carmel's brother and his wife one time when they were over from Ireland. In one of the charity shops Harry managed to buy a brand new light mac for only a £1 ! The shop had been pretty crowded and I remarked that if I'd seen the coat first, I'd have had it as I was on the look out for a light mac. Before they left here he said I could have the coat as it wouldn't be warm enough for him, so I got an even better bargain !! To be honest, Harry would wear a vest, shirt, jumper and waistcoat on even the hottest day. I'f we are heading that way again, I'll let you know but it was all on a whim yesterday.

Autumn is on it's way Ann if the Geese are flying lol.The Swifts/Swallows have been busy here again this evening. I had a good old laugh about 'the stuffed cat' :-D :-D :-D.I can just picture it :-D I went to Belton House some years ago ,and pretty sure I had Mum with me.I think it was me and Mum who went round the house and Chris kept Hannah and James amused outside somewhere.
It wasn't the Cudden name that Fitz mentioned. So I got all excited for nothing :-S
Have been awake again since 3.50 am :-S so am really really ready for my bed now. Have just tracked on line the time the people are coming to fit dishwasher tomorrow and it is between 8.10 and 12.10 so I need to be up and dressed by 8 :-0
Night Night x see you all in the morning

Been shopping today as we are going to Widemouth tomorrow. will be going quite early so I may not get on here.
Jane the apple tree looks lovely and so many apples on it he should have taken a few off to make the others bigger.
Ann was right with the caterpilla!! Mum used to call those ET's. we have them a lot here. When we had a weeping willow tree we used to get some that size but in bright green with a spike bit on the end.
Fiona oh's greenhouse is soon filling up. Love the sunflowers. The rabbits bit mine off all but one self sown one outside our bathroom window which is growing in the gravel and is not even tied up because I could'nt get a cane in there. One year I grew lovely BIG shorter ones but so you think I can find the seed now. They had huge heads on them and made lovely bird feeders.
Off now so may see you in the morning if not it will be at night.

I used to scrump Coxs David.I remember once climbing up and over a wall with my friend Ann when we did our paper round and dropping down into the orchard of Bay Cottage, and filling my canvas paper bag (the paper bag that that went over the shoulder ) with the apples. Then hearing a shout from the owner saying "I'm ringing the police".I think that was probably that fastest I have ever moved in my life lol.
I think an Automatic car sounds a pretty good idea. You just need one good leg to use the 2 pedals.
William you were only 20 minutes away from me in Market Harborough !!!!.If you ever come this way again do let me know.It would be lovely if you and Carmel could pop in

Ann, The A S Star Sapphires, the last of the Coventry Parkside cars were beautiful and luckily many are preserved in excellent condition thanks to the owners club, which were in the photo. I started work at Bristol Siddeley in 1966 and a year later it became part of Rolls-Royce. The Sapphire's finished production there in 1960 in the Burlington as we knew it. I wish I had been there when it was still AS and seen those rolling out of the factory. However, I've been a life member of the R-R Heritage since it was started and the Parkside Branch covers the history right back to it's early day. Nostalgia, I love it. When I was little I used to see the hearses pass our house in Stratford (East London) and they had covered in hubs which made a whiring sound as they passed. I used to call them 'wahh wahh' motors!
We went to Market Harborough today and then called in at Lutterworth on the way back. Carmel is shattered now. I took a few photos in M H on my mobile which I'll email out tomorrow. It's the only town I know that now has LESS charity shops than before. We did get a few bargains.
More tomorrow. Take care everyone.

We went over to Nuneaton yesterday as OH needs new glasses. He went straight for those thick black framed ones like I said he would!! He kept asking me what I thought and I diplomatically said it was up to him really.........'but you will have to look at them' was his very true reply!! lol. In the end, he found a pair with less bulky frames that were black at the top, but with clear plastic bottom edges, with slightly deeper lenses than his current ones which are rimless at the bottom. He also liked that they didn't have those fiddly bits each side of your nose that leave round marks and they were really comfy. Then he found some sunglasses he liked too, so it was ......MORE EXPENSE!! Then we called at a garden centre and he spotted and bought me another birdbox half price in their sale. I have 3 to put up now. :-) :-)
Today we went to Belton House near Grantham and had a look around the house and church and at the gardens. It was far too hot to plod far though, so we found the cafe and had an icecream. Then we drove to Woolsthorpe to the Manor, which is where Sir Isaac Newton was born. (made good use of our NT membership today.. ;-)). That was small but quite interesting with rush matting floors and in a bedroom upstairs, sprawled on the bed with it's legs in the air in funny positions was a stuffed black cat. I said to OH that that was a bit naff as I don't like stuffed animals. We went a bit closer to it and suddenly it's ears twitched!! :-0 :-0 OH burst out laughing and stroked it and it started a deep purr!! The guide told us that it lived in the village, but arrived each morning when they opened up and went home at night when they closed!
Oh Mel, it can be quite treacherous walking on beaches with stones and seaweed. Even if you don't seem hurt at the time, it's amazing what muscles you can wrench that hurt the next day.
The geese have just flown over. They seem to have 'training' flights this time of the year ready for their trip to Canada. It was just a few a couple of weeks ago, but now there is a lot more cackling as more of them join in.

Evening All,
It isn't a pretty caterpillar is it Mandy.....it looks a bit like the Elephant Hawk moth one OH found in our garden a few years ago. I dread grabbing a handful of weeds and something like that being in the middle!!!! :-0 I hope your OH hasn't had any more bites on his feet at night!! I woke up with something crawling on my cheek again in the early hours this morning, knocked it flying, but when the light was on, I couldn't see it anywhere. I stripped all the bed off, but no sign of whatever it was.
Those apples on Fitz's tree look so rosy don't they.....I wonder what variety they are. It might have been the 'Cuddon' branch of Mandy's family Jane, but I'm sure Mandy will say......ah hem.....her Ladyship!! :-) :-)
Lovely photos Will, I liked the BIG flower display too.........I'd forgotten how big cars like the AS had covered in wheels. you don't see that nowadays.
