I read that it was going to be a good year for apples and by the look of Fitz's tree it is , are they Discovery apples? they are usually the first apples about ,i like Cox's but they come a bit later .
He was certainly a monster of a Caterpillar ,i don't think i've ever seen one as big before , i bet the other Anne who use to come on here would have been able to say what it was as they use to monitor the moths didn't they .
Jane do you mean the Cuddens ? they were the ones Ann found for me .
My neighbour has asked me if i would feed their cats when they go on holiday in a couple of weeks time ,there's five to feed !! and two rabbits to feed and clean out too.

Goodness it's quiet.!!!!
EEK Mandy that was a big caterpillar .I wonder what kind of Butterfly or Moth it would be.I haven't seen one quite like that before .It didn't have a horn thing on its back at all .
It was so hot down at Fitz's .He put this old Parasol up that hadn't been up for ages and a load of Earwigs dropped out :-S :-S.Once we cleared them away we sat and chewed the cud ,had 2 glasses of wine and some Cheese,Breadsticks,Parma Ham and baby tomatoes. All very civilised :-DHe has the most wonderful apple tree .Will send a pic.I had a try of one apple but think they need just a bit longer. They are brilliant every year but this year some of the branches are bending with the weight of the apples .
Mandy what was the name of those Ancestors of yours that you traced not so long ago?Fitz mentioned a name that he heard or saw (or something) when he was in Norfolk and it kind of rang a bell .

Morning Jane and all and Evening Kim,
Here I am and I only have a musle ache on my left side just under my arm. No bruises. I think this is where I fell on my large handbag which had my shoes and a small towel in and a nice Guiness glass I bought from the pub, my camera and purse.
Not going anywhere today which will give me a chance to do some ironing or shopping. Need the most important things now Like milk and beer.
Have annice time with Fitz lunchtime Jane and don't drink too much wine.
Hope everyone is ok today.

Ooh Mel A over T !!!! Thank goodness you didn't hurt yourself(just your pride) The number of times as children Janice and I would slip on the seaweed on the rocks and get spectacular grazes.
The plumber is here doing what ever he needs to do so the new dishwasher can be fitted tomorrow. What a very lovely man he is :-D
I am popping down to see Fitz at lunchtime and will hear about his couple of days away in Norfolk. James has gone for a haircut ready for his holiday. My Sister is just setting off on hers too now.

Back and worn out.
They said it was a mile to the beach but seemed more like two. I timed us on the way back and it took Alan Elizabeth and I, 22 mins oh Heather and Stephanie were at least 7 mins longer. The beach was all BIG pebbles, got one for my collection and some bits of driftwood. Did'nt do the walled veg garden as it was 10mins the other way. There is always another day to do that bit and I expect other SIL will want to go there too.
Then we went to Hartland Quay again as the food at the pub there is good. I had braised steak in Tribute ale with chips and peas. It was lovely and there was so much meat on my plate I was wondering if I was going to get through it al but I did!!
Then we went down to the beach, I rolled my jeans up and had a paddle in the sea with Elizabeth Stephanie and Heather and then we walked up the beach to the pebble ridge and back to the sea again where I trod on some seaweed on a rock and fell over onto my side. I had sand all up my leg, trousers and face and my glasses. I did feel a bl**dy fool. Did'nt bruise anything though and just missed the big lines of rocks either side of me.
Smashing pics William. My favorite was the last one which filled the whole window too. The cars took me back to my childhood and I think my aunt had a picnic case like that. I remember the little burner for the tiny kettle.

This afternoon i got the mower out and cut the front grass ,i thought i would have a go as hubby has been busy in the kitchen and hadn't had a chance to do it ,the mowers a petrol one and takes some starting ,you have to really yank the cord to get it to go ,well i had just about finished when the mower conked out !! it had run out of petrol and i had no idea how to fill it up !! so there's one little strip down one side not cut !! I then took the cuttings, some more garden rubbish and glass bottles to the tip so i will be in his good books :-D :-D
You would love Weybourne beach Jane, it's all pebbles but there is a flat bit of beach where we sit and you can see right round the coast for miles . I recorded a little bit on my camera last week but i'am not sure how to send it ,i'll see if i can do it later .
William what lovely flower displays in the church , that big one that nearly fills the whole window and goes up really high is a beauty . Some nice looking cars too :-D
Hubby had a nasty bite on the back of his heel ,it turned really red and he's been putting cream on ,blow me this morning he's got another one , i told him he must lay with his feet out of bed as it's over night that he's getting them !! :-S i'll have to remember to have a look tonight if i get out and walk round his side of the bed and cover them up !!
It's clouded up her now and i've had to put the light on as its gone over so dark !!

Mandy ,there is something about sitting listening to the waves on the beach. It is so relaxing.I know when I used to go and stay with Mum when she had Dementia I would often go down to the beach just to get away for an hour or so and just sit there. It helped clear my mind and let me chill a bit .Or I would walk up the cliff to the church and just lean on the wall looking out to sea.It was wonderful. I wish I could do that right now.
Chris is watering the whole garden it is just bone dry.He went for a walk this afternoon and said all the little brooks have completely dried up :-S
My tummy is is a knot now as I know Hannah will soon be at the flat and seeing John. Just wish I could be near to give her a hug when she leaves later as I know what state she will be in.Her friend Polly will be ready for her though as she is staying with her tonight before going to Barcelona tomorrow.
William you have had a hectic time over the last few days. What a wonderful flower festival at the church. So colourful and so much hard work gone into creating such lovely displays. Love the old cars too.All the love and attention gone into restoring and polishing lol How fascinating that must have been.
I bought 3 ribeye steaks today...Nearly broke the bank !.They are rather on the large size.Just hope I don't make a muck up cooking them.James has already said he will cook his own. That's fine by me as he likes to add all sorts to the pan.
I hope Mel has had a good day out at Hartland Abbey.(Mel I didn't know there was an Abbey there)

Fiona, they still sell the separate gold numbers in the P.O here.I have often bought a single number to stick on a Birthday card.So you may be able to do that.
Mandy yes Rachel new the cat was expecting ,but just didn't know when lol.Little Amelia was excitedly telling me on the phone that she had 4 new kittens.I could hardly make out what she was saying :-D
Mel fancy winning all those raffle prizes !!!,but nice that you give them out to some of the dog owners at the show :-D :-D.
My dishwasher arrived just before 9 this morning and it is sitting in the middle of the garage :-S.The chap could not budge the pipes to disconnect the old one.He tried so hard but in the end said we need to get a plumber in.So we have one coming first thing tomorrow. Then hopefully the new one will be put in on thursday.Nothing ever goes straight forward in this house :-S :-S
It is so lovely out side I'm going to read my book out there.Hope Frank has arrived in Hastings and that his tum tum is alright now :-D.At least he is going to have some decent weather :-D :-D
I'll pop back later on

Afternoon all,
Another warm sunny day here, we went to the coast yesterday it was lovely just sitting listening to the waves coming up onto the stones ,i could have quite easily have nodded off ,some of the waves were quite big, i remember reading that this was the weekend for the high tides about here.
Ann, thanks for the photo's of the work house ,we have the Gressenhall Workhouse and Museum quite close to us but we have never been there,we keep saying we must go . Bit of luck with the clock !! good job you tried the battery again. Fiona, i buy the grandaughter card and then buy the stick on numbers or even the stick on badges with the number on , they usually have them behind the counters in the card shops .
Dear little kittens Jane, did your niece know the cat was having kittens ? it will be a surprise for her when she gets home if she didn't !!
Hope you enjoy the day out Mel, Frank will be on his way too ,hope they get good weather ,i seem to remember they had high winds there the last time they were there.
Time for a bite to eat i think. BBL

morning All, Evening Kim
Hope you have a nice day Mel and the sun comes out for you,
It's cloudy here today and we have had rain in the night,
I have to go into town today to get a birthday present for Sofia, it's actually from MIL she has asked me if I would buy it as she is stuck in the house and can't get out . her shingles are painful and her other medical problem is still causing her a lot of discomfort and the hospital haven't sent her a date for her operation yet, she is really feeling very low Sofia's birthday is on the 8th of September, still a bit to go yet but I like to be organised in plenty of time, still want to get a birthday card for her but am finding it hard to get one with Granddaughter and no 4 on. May end up with just a number 4 after all it won't make much difference to Sofia she will be happy just with any card :-D :-D
Coffee time :-) :-)

Morning All and Evening Km,
Misty moisty morning here today. We are going to try and get to Hartland Abbey today with BIL etc. I have checked that they are open this time and they open from Tuesday to Thursday. I doubt we will do the house but just the gardens and down to the private beach.
Never been there so don't know what it is going to be like. Then again they may have changed their minds by the time they arrive here.
Slept well last night.
David my foot is a bit better now.

Well, you have had a good day Mel.......all those prizes too.......you just needed to win a dog next!! You should have got a lottery ticket today while you were on a winning streak! It's good you aren't left any mess, but I suppose they appreciate being able to use your field and will want to come again in the future.
I am sick of beans and tomatoes now, all that preparing and skinning and then cooking!!
The alarm clock has righted itself!! I took the battery right out and put it back and it whizzed to 12.00 o'clock and stopped for a while then whizzed to the right time......so LESS EXPENSE!!
I keep thinking it's Sunday today. :-S Carvery then trip to Nuneaton tomorrow.....OH needs new specs. I just KNOW he's going to pick the blackest, thickest frames and pretend he loves them....just to wind me up!!!! lol. :-)

Hello all,
We have had a lovely day with the dog show. I bought three strips of raffle tickets and so did oh. I won first prize a big box of dog food chews hide chews in two different sizes a big box of bonios two tins of dog food a huge rope dog toy tied in about five knots a bag of those dog sausage rolls biscuits and a blue chicken dog toy which I kept. The next prize I won was a box of dog of waitrose dog biscuits with a bag of training treats stuck to it and oh won a lovely leather collar and lead and we don't have a dog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I gave it all away except the chicken which is now sitting in the kitchen and I kept some biscuits and the rolls for Di's dogs. It was nice to wallk round and give people with their dogs a little pressy and they were all very grateful.
We have no cleaning up to do as the people who run the show doo all that and it is always left nice and clean and tidy.
Thanks to Ruby for the pics and now I have one of her to add to my threadateers file. It is always nice to know who you are talking to. :-D and Ruby you are just like I imagined. Loved the hats and the spread was great too.
Ann that workhouse was a big one and it is nice to see one kept as it would have been.
Airiated is a word I hav'nt heard for a long time. It was also said in our house. My nan always told grandad not to get airiated and if he got stroppy she she would sing a little song to him which went something like this.
Off to work he goes. With his little nosebag he wanders through the snow.
She called him Little Annie when she was cross with him too.
This would make him even crosser!

Hi Everyone
Jane, Frank , I looked on e-bay at the same spoons and the bid is still at £15 as no one has put in a bid, mind you the last date for bidding is the 30 Aug. maybe they are hanging on till then ? mine are gilt spoons, the silver ones seem to be doing better.
We had our last BBQ tonight Katherine & Jake joined us before they went off to the gym, OH will put the grill back in the shed tomorrow when it's cooled down, the clouds are starting to come over early these nights and it's getting dark about 9.30 it's not cold though, we were bothered tonight with flies and wasps , we kept having to shoo them away and be quick at covering all the food up.
