No David.I can't to that otherwise it will pull up too tight under my armpits and it would cut in. :-S Ouch !

How are you today.Leg any less painful? There seems to be a fair bit of cloud building up ,but then out comes the sun again.I think we might be cloudy here tomorrow.

Jane.could you not take the garment off and adjust the straps then put it back on?

Jane

Jane Report 19 Jul 2013 13:50

Hopefully the dentist will be able to sort that tooth for you Mandy.Don't cut your tongue lol

I can't pull this dress any higher with the straps as like you said Mandy it is high enough under my armpits as it is,so it will have to be done from the bottom.

Frank have a nice weekend ,I hope everything survives in the greenhouse and garden. Is there no-one you could ask just to do the most important things?

This heatwave looks like it now going to get worse next week :-S.I'm never going to get anything done in this house at this rate .I think it will have to getting up really early to get a few of the hotter jobs out of the way.
I'm going to go and sit under the Bay tree with my kindle soon. It's nice and shady there.

Afternoon all ,

It's to hot to do much ,as soon as you move your sweating !!
I did get some ironing done before it got too hot .

That's what i was going say about the dress, ties the straps up a bit more ,but i suppose it depends on how tight they are under the arms already ,there's only so high you can go before it's under your chin LOL

Ann, i woke with a dry mouth too, i could feel myself putting my tongue on the front tooth when i was half asleep, it's quite sharp, i now think it's not filling that's come out i think a piece has broken off :-S :-S

Oh Frank, you'll have to prey that it's cooler while your away ,or the things in the green house will be on their last legs by the time you get home!!
Shame there isn't some one who can come and water for you.

Jane if your dress has shoestring straps can you not tie a knot in them to make it shorter??

Must go and open the tunnel as I have forgotten to do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-S

Jane

Jane Report 19 Jul 2013 11:47

Morning/Evening All

I am far more respectable today.I just went and bought myself a Maxi dress with shoe string straps. :-D :-D.It is a little bit long but I can wear it without tripping up .I think it will be safer though to have it shortened a bit.

Hannah and John sound like they are in for treat today. They are going to Puna on Lake Titicaca and visiting the Floating Islands. These are Islands made of reeds and are inhabited.I had to look it up and it looks so amazing.

Just off to see if I can pick anymore peas now.I had to cool off under the fan after being in town.

Morning all/Evening Kim,

Nice to see you about David, trust you are feeling more comfortable with the IRON WORK OFF. Try not to overdo it.

Still had a smile this morning reading again about Jane and Ann,

When we had the P.O. we were looking for a house, so we could rent the flat above the shop. One night while reading the evening paper, a house looked appealing in an advert. As I was in my Kaftan, and Ros in her nightie, we decided to drive out to look at the area. This was about 10.30 pm. at night. It's a good job we weren't stopped, they would have wanted a lot of explanation, as to why we were dressed like that at that time of night. :-D :-D

Have topped up the bird baths, they will have to do till Sunday night when I get back from Rutland. As will the greenhouse. Door and window open, so it will have to survive without anymore water.

Had a job sleeping again last night. On top of the bed, with windows open, can't sleep with the fan on, to noisy .

I can't believe all these people being drowned in these lakes and rivers. With school holidays starting, I can see more accidents happening. I know I played in the river as a boy, but it was shallow, and you could not get out of your depth.

Have a good weekend. I might take pooter with me, if so will keep in touch.

Morning All,

Another 'roaster' today, boiling already. I kept waking last night with a mouth so dry I couldn't swallow and had to keep slugging my glass of water. I must have had my mouth open all the time. :-S

OH has watered everything........a lot easier to do than your patch Mel!!! He's cleared the bolted lettuce from the green house and put a second coat on the 2 sides of the shed he did yesterday. He can put the water butts back now before the rain comes!! The washing is out and I've been sorting out stuff for the dog's home shop and a few house jobs as my knees are a bit sore after yesterday's efforts in the garden. Showers next and we are off to the carvery that's at the old manor now owned by Best W*stern. It has huge trees all around it so should hopefully be cooler. It's a shame to have to put more clothes on to go out though!!

BBL :-)

Morning All and Evening Kim,

Another stunning day today not a cloud in the sky!! The news said that loads of people have died in this heat. It seems we never get comfortable days, just continuous rain or baking heat!!!! Still I am not really complaining but the garden here could do with a light shower. Our grass is going brown and you can't water 1.25 acres of grass which is the bit out the front of the bungalow. Outside there is even more acres!!!!

Oh is washing down the outside of the caravan as other SIL is coming down to stay here I think a week Sunday.

David it is good to see you posting with us again it will take your mind off your poor leg reading the posts now you can get around a bit better without your ironwork! <3

Not naughty Ann,simply adult :)

I'd throw my 44 chest out if I could balance on this gammy leg.

Annx

Annx Report 18 Jul 2013 21:30

LOL.........you naughty people!! :-D Sorry to disapoint, but I don't want to be arrested. No top down on the car either....tooooo hot. :-D I do have a distant memory of long, long ago and driving wearing a raincoat and little else once .......but it was more stressful than racy. I kept thinking, what if I had an accident and got frisked!!!! lol I must have done it for a dare I think!

While we are on the subject of 'tops', M*S had hardly any sleeveless tops and why is it when you do find one, it has a collar!! You buy sleeveless to be cool and they cover your neck to compensate and keep another bit of you warm!!

The 'universal' bath plug I ordered arrived today. We have one of those pop up things and the rubber seal swells and sticks and stops the bath draining. We couldn't get a new part and didn't want to spend £££££ on having a whole new waste system fitted ,so I ordered this plug which was very cheap. I've tested it out and, as it just fits over the hole rather than in it you could dislodge it quite easily I think, but it works PERFECTLY!!!! :-) :-) :-)

Yes, I'm orf to bed too now........I think the lavender is helping me to sleep Mel, even on these hot nights. Oh, we spotted what I think is a hedgehog calling card on the patio today. I told OH I thought I could hear rustling when we sat out there late last night. :-D

Jane

Jane Report 18 Jul 2013 21:23

No wet T shirts here Frank lol
David I'm glad you are having a chuckle about Ann and me lol.It is good to cheer you up :-D ;-)

It has actually cooled down a fair bit tonight (in the house) .But I need to shut a lot of windows soon, so hopefully all the hot air in the house has cooled off.
Hope I don't have nightmares about being trapped in a loo tonight ;-) That was just so funny !!!
I'm ready now to say night night .
See you all tomorrow xx

Just what I thought when Ann said she was in bra and shorts!!! then going to the shop???????? with the roof down :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0

Been to Holsworthy thsi morning to get the chick crumbs also got a pair of shorts for oh in the hospice shop but they are a bit tight. they have elastic all around the waist stitched on so I could stick a v in the back to make them a bit bigger. They are nice cotton and have two pockets and a button fly which he is not sure about and they are a nice light weight denium and NOT TOO LONG IN THE LEG. Anyway if he dos'nt where them I could!!!!

Had a fiddle about in the tunnel later this afternoon and fed everything and watered too. tied up the purple podded peas which are doing well and have pods coming on them already. Picked more toms but only the sungold ones and have another cue from the plant that is struggling a bit. Runners are flowering like mad but I find the first flowers along the stems seem to always fall off. I have seen bees on them. the short beans have little beans on them about two inches long.

So niice to see David posting again. Do you have pain killers for the leg David? Hope it's healing ok now and you will soon be mobile again. The physio will certainly stregthen that leg and get the muscles working to full copasity again.

Jane trust you to get stuck in the lavatory :-S :-S good job they heard you calling out or perhaps they just wondered where you had got to.

This is a bit of info for you, I had a skirt on for a while today till I went up the tunnel. The hose gets round my legs and it is all muddy so changed into jeans again.

Are you thinking of entering a WET T SHIRT comp. then Jane. You little hussy :-D :-D :-D
You should be so lucky, having Chris chase you around the house. It would be a very strong "BUGG## OFF from Ros, <3 <3 <3 Far too hot anyway. ;-) ;-) ;-) Oh to be FORTY years younger. and know what I know now. :-\ :-\

Greenhouse and garden back and front all watered.

Ros is just doing a stir fry. Smells good.

I'm sitting with the fan at my legs, just bra and shorts at the mo and an ice cool drink...........just changed the bed!! Phew!! I'm going down the road to the shops with aircon in a mo to cool down properly. OH has just gone to collect 2 footie pals and is off to Ellistown to a match.

Yes, did you shout Jane or call softly to not draw too much attention!! lol

William, I love the faces you have painted on your last....you are very talented. Yes, dad told me that is how clickers got their name. Dad used to grind down his old hacksaw blades to make new blades for his clicking knife which was razor sharp and had a tapered hook at the end. The blades fitted in a slot. I wonder what happened to it? The machine that replaced the knife was even called a 'clicking press'. The uppers that had been cut would go from the 'clicking room' to the 'closing room' next where the soles and uppers were joined. As rubber soling came in, a sole shaped knife or pattern would be used to cut the soles from sheets of rubber. As is the way of progress, in the 60s and 70s soles and heels started to be moulded onto the uppers, especially with the platform shoes that came into fashion and that together with the huge influx of imported shoes was the death knell for many workers and a lot of shoe factories closed down around here.

Well, I'm off now to the cool aisles of M*S. :-)

Oh dear what can the matter be :-D :-D :-D :-D oh Jane it made me giggle the thought of you having to shout for some one to come and let you out :-D

So far so good with the tooth ,i was very careful eating i don't fancy getting some thing in the tooth and it touching the nerve !! :-S :-S

Cut two more cucumbers today , that's seven cut so far , quite a few tomatoes on the plants but all still green ,no sign of any turning yet .
Runners have plenty of flowers ,just need the bees to do their job now .

Hi everyone, what another scorcher. We had to go into Bedworth today as Carmel managed to get a doctors appointment. So we did a bit of shopping while there, trying not to go out unless we have to.

I've just sent out an email with photos of the finished hobbing foot, hope you like what I've done to it. I've added on the email that I was watching Flog It this afternoon on Beeb 1 and they were showing how the shoes were made in the factory in Northampton. They spoke to a 'clicker' who was cutting the leather to the pattern, and told you how the word 'clicker' came about, and you actually hear the 'click' as he finished the pattern. It is well worth watching if you've got IPlayer. (4.15pm). I've added a TV screen photo of the statue of the giant last in Northampton precinct with the children modelled playing on it.

Back from the hairdressers....I got stuck in the loo !!!!!!!..Two doors close together ,you have to open one and then open the toilet door which opens outwards.Well I opened it to come out and someone had left the other one open .Somehow the two handles got caught up together and just left a gap of a few inches.I had to shout for help lol.
It reminded me of the song Three old ladies got stuck in the lavatory. But it was just the one :-D

David I don't like TShirts .But what I have on now is too revealing to say ;-).I have something near to hand incase anyone knocks, but Chris is here so he can answer the door..What is about men that the causes them to behave in a ;-) ;-) manner when the weather is so hot and us gals are walking around in next to nothing ......It's too hot for any malarky :-S :-S and I'm old and grumpy lol.I'm happy just sitting by the fan :-D :-D

Oh dear Mandy ,that's unfortunate ,front tooth .At least you have a quick appointment.
I have a feeling I need my very back top one seeing to as it is causing a bit of trouble with hot and cold and bleeds when I brush.

Mel I wish I could have been at Hartland .I am sure a lot of my ancestors came from there.Glad your knee is ok now.

Fiona I could never reach our hanging baskets without trouble .But we don't have any this year.Just the Tumbling Tomato Plants and I can do them fine.

I must go and get a cold drink so BBS

Fiona

Fiona Report 18 Jul 2013 16:14
