David I seem to have so many passwords for various sites etc.I have written them all on a long list so I can quickly see what password I need if I am asked to put one in.It is a real pain in the backside :-S.There must be something you can do to get your email set up again.Although I have no idea how :-S

Ann I am gutted about the ring. But at least I know it can be fixed.Just thinking it has been worn for 98 years !!!!!!!.
Hannah and Chris just arrived.

Evening all,

It's been a really hot day here but its now clouded over and looks more like rain !!

That must have been a bit of a fright for you and the poor lady going the wrong way ,we had a lady drive up a slip road here in the town she was drunk and had a baby in the back seat ,she was lucky as she faced a lorry coming the other way !!

I can never tell if they are swallows or swifts ,you certainly have a lot on the roof Jane, and dear little Amelia singing her song bless her :-D

Hubby saw the Red Arrows go over at lunch time ,it was some thing to do with Seasons Catering in Hellesdon, which is celebrating its 10th birthday, before looping and swooping in to land at Norwich Airport.
I don't know of any air show this way Jane i think Lowestoft air show was earlier in the year .

What a day you've had Ann!! i should think you were glad to get home .

No cooking here today we went out for some thing to eat with son and family ,goodness those little ones tucked in !! Jake had a roast chicken dinner ,Chelsea had Carbonara and Katie wanted sausage and chips but she ended up sharing Chelsea's meal .

After such an unlucky day Ann you ought to buy a lottery ticket :-)

I'm PPPP'd off with user names and passwords.

Not only can I not access my e-mail accounts I have just dicovered I can't get into ebay

I feel like blaming those open e-mails I was receiving, but the problem could be any where.......and it's here in my PC

Annx Report 23 Aug 2013 19:26

David, that must have been annoying getting chips on your car like that. The man must have heard them hitting it!!

Jane that is a shame but a long time to wear a ring! Mine is never on at home........I couldn't do gardening or make pastry with one on.

I was doing some FH research yesterday and came across an obituary for my maternal grandmother's younger brother who was killed in WW1. I don't know why, but the entry was for 1919, 3 years after he was killed, so maybe they didn't know what had happened to him till much later. This is what it said, which was quite touching,

'Friends may think that we forget him
When at times they see us smile
But they little know the sorrow
That the smile hides all the while.'

He was only 26 and 2 years later another of their sons was killed in the war.

Great day then Ann :-D :-D.As the song goes'Things can only get better' ;-)
I love Tattyhead. He is so tame.I keep wondering if he might be my old Buster.
Yes those birds are so fast, and so noisy too.I love to seem them swooping o catch the insects in the air.It was odd that they were all on my roof as there were none next door.

Hannah should have just arrived in Northampton now.Hopefully she will have had a little chat with Chris and got any tears out of the way before they get home.I can't do any more tears :-(.

Lots of planes in formation going over today.I think they must have been to do with the show in Norfolk.I would have loved to see the Vulcan.

Wellie boots needed for tomorrow by the look of things. If I am going shopping with Hannah I will have to put proper shoes on and I haven't worn them for months as it has been sandals or those ballet pump things.

Just had the quote for all the tree work we need doing. It is nearly £2,000 .GULP!!!!!!
I actually thought it would be more than that.

Kebabs in the oven and cooking nicely I hope.I can just begin to smell them.I marinated the chicken in some stuff and have added peppers, mushrooms, peppers and Halloumi .
I think I might go and sit outside for a bit of air and toughen up ready for Hannahs arrival lol

Evening All,

Those birds are so quick Jane, you did well to get any of them! I think I forgot to say how sweet your little Robin is......growing some nice new 'head feathers'. I hope Hannah is feeling a little brighter. Any split from someone, apart from the upset, changes all your routine and feels very strange for a while.

That poor lady Frank! I bet being able to tell Ros helped her, even though there isn't anything you can say that can change things. The Turkeys are last Christmas's that weren't sold so were frozen. I'm not sure they will be at their best by waiting till this Christmas though? I need to give them a ring first to see what they have left.......they might have all gone!! Thanks for your e-card.......I could have just polished some of those treats off!!

Well, it seems to have been one thing after another the last 24 hours. I kept dropping stuff yesterday getting food all over the floor to clean up. Then I cleaned all the inside of my car and hoovered it. I had just finished when I tipped up a bowl of dirty water all over the passenger seat!! :-S It was a big puddle for a few moments while it soaked in!! I wiped it off as best I could and luckily, when I looked this morning it hadn't marked the tan leather. Today, I picked the runners, cues and toms and decided to use a carrier bag for the toms instead of a bowl. I put that on the greenhouse path while I reached for some cues that were behind the tomatoes and managed to tread right on it and squash a load of them! :-S Then when we went out at lunch, there was a wedding at the carvery we usually go to so we came back out PDQ......too much noise, crowds and slow service with it being a wedding!! We called at another place, but the menu was all burgers and chips with everything so we didn't stay there. We had just resigned ourselves to popping in M*rrisons when we passed a place called Badger's Mount, a nice small hotel that serves food at lunch time. We had often said we should try it so I said to OH, 'come on turn round, we'll do something different today and go there'. As we swung into the gravelled driveway, we noticed an ambulance pulled up near the entrance. We were just wondering what had happened when a member of staff in chef's clothes came over and said they had had to close today as someone had collapsed. He pointed out the air ambulance helicopter to us that was around the back in the grounds and as we turned to go we saw a paramedic's vehicle as well. Some poor soul was in trouble. So we went to M*rrison's after all. I needed to nip into the ladies first and all 3 were out of order, so I joined a queue at the disabled one. Then, to top it all, there was a long queue at the till as it had gone wrong! The staff were having to use a calculator to work out the bill for everyone. :-S Afterwards we called at B*Q for some of the yellow fence paint for OH to finish off the trellis he's started repainting.......to find it's discontinued now!! :-S Luckily, with a bit of googling since I got home, I found some so we'll be able to finish it.

I meant to say .My wedding ring has snapped!!!!.It was my Nana's and she married in 1915.I had to have it made bigger for me and it must have worn so thin around where the extra bit of gold was put in .I did notice the 'line' but today I noticed it has gone all the way through :-( :-(. I will hot foot it in to a Jewellers tomorrow. It feels most peculiar having a bare finger.I have never not had a wedding ring on since 1981.

Jane Report 23 Aug 2013 17:16

Isn't it quiet here !

Well I had a bit of a fright today.I had just turned onto the slip rd to join the dual carriage way(A14) only to find a car driving up towards me !!!!!!!!!.I think the lady (who looked in her late 66's) must have gone down and then realised it was the wrong junction and turned around :-0 :-0.All I can say is thank goodness it was me and not a ten ton truck as there would have been no way to avoid a most likely fatal crash :-S

Sometimes there is nothing you can say is there Frank in a sad situation like Ros's friend.Just a hug ,a shoulder to cry on and just to be there to listen.

Hannah will be home tonight.Chris is picking her up from Northampton station as it is so much cheaper for to go there instead of here.I wonder how she will be??

Frank no ecard arrived here.I think you always have trouble getting one to me. :-S

I managed to get a little video clip of the Swifts or Swallows that were here today. There were so many but difficult to get on film.I made a noise when they were all on the roof eating insects and they all took off. There were so many more than I snapped, but it will give you an idea. Will send it out in a bit.Sorry you can't get or send emails David. That is why I asked if you had changed address s.
I'm doing Kebabs tonight so better get the skewers out (if I can find them)

Frank Report 23 Aug 2013 15:41

Well AT LAST.

First posting on here since 10. 30 from David.

The morning started off well enough Jane, but soon clouded over, and yes, I think we are in for rain tonight and tomorrow.

Ros, good little soul has been in the front garden for hours. She has planted two trays of pansies, and some other bits. Three people have stopped and said how nice her garden looks. So that brightened her day. !!

Her friend down the road stopped to chat this morning, in buckets of tears. Her husbands Cancer has gone to GRADE ONE. which from what she says, won't be long before he pass's away. How on earth can you console someone when they have that to live with. She said he WON'T allow the McMillian nurses or the Doctor in, to see him. He won't eat or drink, and just lays in bed. Poor woman <3 <3 <3 My heart goes out to her, having been there myself..

Our new neighbours bought a new dog when they moved in. Ros was speaking to the daughter this afternoon, who said the dog is going back to the breeder as they can't do anything with it. I know it yaps a lot. ;-) ;-) The neighbour next to them, who has three cats, came enquiring if anyone had seen her Brown cat. (the one who SHI## on my garden) She thinks someone might have kidnapped it. !!! I should be so lucky :-( :-( :-(

Hope you all received my Ecard.. I know Liz did, as she replied to me. I didn't know how else to let you know all was well this end.

David, I have thought many times of getting a difference supplier, but when I come down to it. I stick with BT. you can always get someone to help you through any problems, and at my age I don't need them !!!

I have noticed that Genes now say that we have to accept "COOKIES" on the site, and it's the terms that we have to accept. I personally don't like a load of adverts on the page. So do we have to live with it, OR WHAT ???

Jane, there will be just the two of us as usual. Harvey and family are in France, Conrad in Spain. Jan is off to Devon. and I know I won't hear from my own TWO.

We have so much Lamb in the freezer, that I got a shoulder out yesterday for tonight's dinner. In fact it's in the oven now, on a very low heat. It will fall off the bone when it's cooked at about 6.30 pm.

Hope Mel is enjoying her visitors. She's out and about more than a "COMMERCIAL TRAVELLER" .these days :-D :-D :-D Envy on my part really Mel. lol

Just hope you can get on Genes, otherwise I am talking to myself.

Will try to get back later.

Frank, was'nt there a Marlene, wife of Boycee in Only Fools and Horses?
I hope her health is improving.

Ann,I used to pay a guy to mow my lawns. He used a large petrol driven strimmer to get right up to the edges.

He used the strimmer at the rear of the bungalow where I park my car.The side of the car got spattered with stone chips and sap which dried on.We fell out over that.

I cannot use e mails. I feel annoyed.Yahoo keep saying open a new account. Then when I use it it doesn't recocnise my password and I have to contact Yahoo to confim who I am;then I've to use another password which Yahoo doesn't recognise when I go back...so I have to repeat the process which again doesn't work.

I must have lots of e-mails I cannot access and I cannot contact the senders as I cannot get into e-mail for the above reasons.

Yahoo may be free but some aspects of it are as much use as as an ash tray on a motor bike.I was going to say some thing else, but it would have been censored.

Morning/Evening All

I can't watch programmes like that Frank :-S.Too upsetting for me.I can't even watch Horse Racing in case a horse falls and has to be put down on the track.

What a smashing morning :-D.I'm going to go out now and do a bit of food shopping then get home quickly.
I hope Maureen doesn't have to much of her ironing jobs to do today so she can enjoy the hot weather.Looks like rain tomorrow :-S

What's everyone up to for the B/H weekend?..I know Mel has visitors.

Taken me ages to get on here tonight.

The moon tonight was amazing with little white clouds floating over it. I thought I would do a William. I took two photo'd and they were just a small spot in the sky, so deleted them.

It's nice that you are getting all this information before your holiday Jane, it will get excited before you go now !!! You go off a week after Ros's birthday.

We watched the Poachers in South Africa. What horrible way to live but with all that money that is offered when you haven't got any , must be a great temptation. What is happening to our world. ?? Nature looks after itself in a natural way. Why oh Why does man have to be so greedy.

Ann, Where's that Turkey Farm. It might be worth us getting a big one, as we might be going to Torquay for Christmas, there will be 9 or maybe more of us. So we could supply the Turkey.

So are we going to call you GUMMY now then, :-D :-D <3 <3 JOIN the CLAN. I still have my FIVE, even though one is starting to work loose. ;-) ;-)

Off for a read now, see you in the morning.

NIGHT NIGHT.

Jane Report 22 Aug 2013 21:17

Oh teeth and boobs Ann :-S. What a decision as to which done first.I think I would get my teeth done first ,so no risk of infection getting a grip .
We go to Venice on the 26th Sept.We have booked with Citalia .The amount of info we have had from them to do with holidaying in Venice is brilliant .All on line.It even tells us how many days, hours, minutes and seconds it is until we fly !!!!!!!!!.I thought it was just a joke to start with but then realised it is spot on lol

Just going to watch Paul O'Grady's programme Working Britain and then off to bed.
Back tomorrow :-D

Annx Report 22 Aug 2013 18:45

Evening Folks,

Yes, I hope all is well with Martine Frank. Poor Ros must be in a state with it happening to her friend.

Jane, I bet you feel a lot better now with your hair sorted again. My hairdresser has 4 salons and the one I go to is in a local gym. He took over the beauty salon there last year as well and offers all kinds of treatments at eye watering prices!! We get head massages with moroccan oil as part of a cut and finish, but I've never had an indian head massage. When is it you go to Italy?

The dentist did xrays of the wobbly teeth and said that even though it seems to be just one that is sensitive, it would be best for both to come out. He said it isn't anything to do with the cleaning of my teeth as that's excellent. He then showed me on the xray how little bone is supporting them now and that because bacteria can get down the sides of loose teeth, there is usually a tendency for the teeth each side to then become similarly affected if the loose ones are left. So....it's a no brainer really.......MORE EXPENSE next month or end up toothless more quickly! Then when I got home I had got a letter for my routine mammagram.......sod's law......it's for the same day!!!:-S

I got my car washed on the way back and the Polish chaps seemed to do a lot of rubbing to get something off, so I had a look at it when I got home and found it was spattered all over the front and side with spots of hard residue. It must have been when the dog lady next door went on holiday a few weeks ago. While she was away her grandson came and jetwashed the drive and didn't come and tell us so we could move my car!! We thought he was doing just the patio at the back. That's the second time now. A few years ago when her husband was alive he jetwashed their bungalow roof and covered my previous car in grit and gunge!! Luckily he had the sense to hose most of it off before it dried. I tried using some creme cleaner on a few spots on the bonnet, but made it worse as it's scuffed the shine off the paint now!!! :-S :-S :-S What is it with neighbours.

Mandy, I noticed the farm where we get our Xmas turkey was advertising them at half price the other day........I was wondering whether to get one, as they are usually delicious. I bet it is the massive ones that are left though and might not go in the oven.

Mel, it must be a hive of activity in your garden at night, all these hogs trotting about, sampling the food you put out and jostling for position. I wonder if any or many of them will hibernate in your 'Hedgehog Hotel'.

Hi Dermot.
Hopefully you will give us a lowdown on your reunion with some of your witty tales :-D.Bet you are exhausted now lol
I went to Canada a few years ago with a cousin ,we had several reunions and get togethers from Vancouver,Vancouver Island ,and across to Calgary.I had never met any of the Canadian rellies (the first who emigrated back in the 60's.)They all came with their family trees and photos and it was lovely to see so many resemblances to my Dads Scottish side. One woman reminded me so much of my Granny and another of my Aunty Elizabeth. They are all very keen on Genealogy .I must have met over a hundred people !!!!!.It was a trip I will remember for ever.

Just missed you Dermot, Glad you had a nice trip home and to see all the family.

t's my dads birthday today (127) and still I miss him.!!!

Frank

Frank Report 22 Aug 2013 17:23

I will try again. Been trying to get on here but the B error notice seems to like me.

Martine has had some tests, and it looks better than first thought. No stent needed by the look of things. If she is sent home today Ros might pop over this evening to see her.

After all my watering yesterday, it rained in the night. This morning I opened the conservatory door as it was so warm indoors. As soon as I came in it poured with rain. It has been overcast and muggy all day.

Ros has been to the dentist this afternoon, not sure what she had done but it sounds expensive. NEW this or that. !!

John and Carolyn have invited us to Hastings in a couple of weeks, but it will clash with my knee operation. Will have to see if they can change the date.

Forgot to tell you. I was up to my old tricks on Sunday, CUT through my finger, while carving the meat. The old kitchen roll and black tape was out again. I have been changing the dressing each day, sometimes twice. The gash was quite deep
and keeps opening and bleeding. I know I'm a little bleeder, !!! that's because of the blood thinners I take everyday.

I nearly miss read your comment about the "hand massage "Jane ;-) ;-) ;-)

Did your family arrive O.K. Mel ?? I see from the forecast, that you are going to get better weather than any of us. LUCKY YOU !!

Any news on your Daughters interview Fiona, or is it a bit early yet ???

Maureen that's terrible. If he wants to smoke that stuff why doesn't he go into the bottom of the garden and smoke it ?? Dirty little BAST~~~. I hope he gets caught in possession of it by the police. But there again it will be a slap on the wrist, as usual. in these cases.. It might be a good idea to have a word with the local copper, he might then be on the lookout for him. Especially if he drives, they could do him for driving under the influence of drink or DRUGS.. That would put the fear of GOD into him. I would be the first to report anyone I knew smoking and buying that stuff.

Ros is out in the front garden, putting in more plants. she says the colour is fading in a lot of the flowers out there. I must say, after the rain the earth does look nice being freshly turned over and planted up. I see a BIG new pot has appeared on the drive. I bet that is for another PLANT to go in on the patio. :-D :-D :-D She does love her plants and flowers. The lounge has new flowers at least once a week/ NOT ONE VASE BUT THREE. :-D :-D :-D

She is doing a stir fry tonight. While out this afternoon, she called in Tesc# for O and S, and picked up 3 lovely chickens for a tenner. (I think I still have two in the freezer) but she will keep buying more, I get fed up telling her. DON'T BUY ANY MEAT TILL I TELL YOU. <3 <3

Just back from a family reunion in Ireland. (Co Mayo - one of the nicer Irish counties!).

Relations by the dozen - well, nearly 30 including two from New York.

Lots of remembrances & tales from our youth. Visits to the old homestead & districts nearby.

That's enough excitement for one week.
