Morning /Evening All

That's early to start the BBQ Mel.Thought you might be doing a Hog Roast or something ;-) I hope you all have a good day .
Thanks William for your pics I have replied :-D It 's horrible when the heat keeps you from sleeping.I had the big fan on a few feet away from me and I slept like a log,but I think the fan dried my mouth out(must sleep with it open) as my throat was dry and sore when I woke up.Same with my eyes dry and crusty.(not that I sleep with them open lol)

William that will be nice treat for you this evening.Roast Beef ! makes my mouth water.

I better go and see to the birds and make sure there is plenty of water for them.
Yesterday I put ice cubes in the birdbath :-D

Morning William and All and Evening Kim,

It's going to be another hot one today. Oh has the barbi on already cooking the base of the chicken!!!???? He cut it up.....I say no more.

William thankyou for the pics. I think Pharoh (sp) looks great now you have highlighted his bumpy bits. I am susre you will find a suitable station for him somewhere in the garden.

Don't know what time the SIL etc are coming so I better get on and feed everything and do the water and open the tunnel as thats not even done yet.

Good morning/evening all. Up with the lark, too hot to sleep on. Been in the garden taking more photos. Hope you like what I've done this time.

I won't be on this evening. Daughter (step) Dorothy is doing a roast beef dinner in aid of my birthday tomorrow, so no cooking or hot kitchen here and no washing up either. Will report back tomorrow.

Will probably look in this afternoon when Carmel has a rest, if it's not too hot. We went to the local Schools Gala day yesterday morning, stayed about an hour but it was SO HOT. Luckily the car was parked in the shade and it's only 5 minutes from our house (by car). It was all in aid of the local RNIB special school where Dorothy works looking after the children that board there. Other than that we are still sniffy/stuffy! Fiona, we feel like we've used up half a rain forest with all the tissues etc we've got through this last couple of weeks.

Hi All,

Yes Fiona the wishing well looks very nice with those pink flowers in it.

Jane we have the BBQ on the back lawn at the mo. We have had it on the upper decking but it is a bit heavy to move from there now. It has been in the garage for a few years as we hav'nt used it.

Been busy all day with clearing up and shopping. Oh cut some more of the orchard but he got too hot so came in and went in the shower.

Roast lamb and cauliflower cheese for dinner tonight and very nice it was too.

Ann ,looking at the pics it looks wall to wall blue, but I don't know how hot.I thought Hannah had a sheen lol, so pretty warm I'm thinking. Yes wonderful scenery . Maybe the higher they go it may be cooler.
How nice to see the Swallows/Swifts( they go so fast I can never tell lol) I don't think I have seen as many as usual this year.
It's all getting very loud now next door.Probably a few drinks have been had,and I think more people have turned up.I will feel sorry for the neighbours the other side of the pool (Meg the dogs owners) as their bedroom window is just a matter of feet away :-S..If it carries on late Colin will be yelling out his window to tell them to pipe down.

I think a nice cool shower is in order before I get into bed :-D.I am sat here in almost complete darkness as I don't want to put lights on just in case we get a BAT and I don't want to shut the windows yet.It feels stifling .But there is not a breath of air.
I bet we all have an uncomfortable night tonight.

Mel are you all ready for your visitors?I think it is tomorrow you said they were coming.

I'm off now .So night Night all xx

Well we had a Chinese about 7.45 "wondering dragon" all sorts of meats and veg. with king prawns, flyed lice and Ribs. Went down a treat.

Have just come in from watering back and front, smells great with water on dry earth and patio.

Have been sitting in the lounger reading earlier. Rubbish on T.V. and anyway to hot to stay in doors.

No sign of thunder here, I bet it will rain, now I have done my watering.

Thanks Ann, I will have a pep in a mo, and see what I think. He was adamant that they were Great Crested. The way he's going he will have a crest :-D :-D :-D and it won't be on his back.

Still no news of David ?? has anyone heard anything ??

Jane

Jane Report 13 Jul 2013 20:56

Mandy I was wondering when that pool of yours was coming out lol.Next door (son and friends have been having a ball today in their swimming pool....Lots of LOUD Rock Music and laughter.I think Gina (the Mum is out for the night).I have enjoyed listening to it all and have been rocking along to some of the music.Chris says in a grumpy voice"Hope this doesn't go on all night" ....He won't know if it does as once his head hits the pillow he is gone.
BBQ was lovely and pudding is still sitting in the fridge .Not sure it will be eaten tonight.
No rumbles of thunder here Ann ,but it is looking a bit dicey now :-S.It feels very close and heavy now.I thought how dark it was .....but I forgot all my curtains are drawn lol.
I need to water out the front now.Chris is doing the back.

Annx

Annx Report 13 Jul 2013 20:39

Oh Mandy can I dip my toes in too!! :-D I think I will fill up my shallow humper and pop my feet in. They feel as if they would sizzle.

Jane what fabulous scenery they are travelling through. I remember watching a lorry in a prog drive along one of the mountain roads and it was so scary. I know I wouldn't be looking over the edge side at all. :-0 What are the temperatures like there?

The clap of thunder here led to nothing, alough the sky was black over the city and OH said he heard there were storms there when he listened to the radio. I was hoping we'd get it and not need to water tonight. :-S

We were standing out on the front a few minutes ago as there were dozens of Swallows/Swifts? swooping up and down the close catching insects. We haven't seen that before and they were so fast and close you could hear the whirr of their little wings. We could hear the crows round the back making a lot of noise so we went round to look. There were 3 of them sitting at the top of the trees, not liking these fast little birds swooping near where they nest!!

Frank, the little tinker may be winding you up again!! Have a look on the link below where you will see photos of newts you get in your pond. The males of Smooth newts have crests as well and look quite similar to the Great Crested ones. The Great Crested ones are almost black and are bigger.

Phew its hot !! new kitchen sink all plumbed in this morning ,plumber came ,then son and family turned up so it was a bit hectic for a while here .

This afternoon we decided to put the pool up :-D the hottest time of the day and we're out there in the full sun !! oh well it's done now and filling up as we speak ,oh i so want to dip my toes in the water :-D

Thanks for the photo's Jane , hubby said of the first one ...Oh they gave him a meal before he died then !! he was looking at the pots !!! :-D :-D :-D
The second one he said well it looks like he died with a smile on his face !! :-D
what is he like !!! LOL

Jane

Jane Report 13 Jul 2013 17:48

Frank I don't know how old the Mummy is but Hannah sent one pic of herself holding a pot that is 1800 years old.So I guess around the same age as the pot !!
Keep calm now,you sound a little het up lol. Some food in your tum sounds a good idea.Chris is just getting the BBQ going. It is one of those bucket type things.(I think called a Whistable BBQ)..There are lots of big clouds looming so I hope we don't get a thunder storm before the food is done :-S

Frank Report 13 Jul 2013 17:24

Peace and quiet now, the little Bugg## has just gone home. He's been winding me up all afternoon, Harvey came for him, had a cuppa and hot x bun, had a chat for an hour.

They are off to a BBQ this evening, should be nice when it cools down a bit. Then up to Conrad's tomorrow for another BBQ.

Yes thanks Jane got all the photo's. How old is the corpse/ Mummy or what ever you call it ???

I am beginning to feel sick with hunger. I haven't had anything since 9.00 this morning. Too hot to eat. Have been taking loads of fluids though. I can feel it washing around inside :-D :-D :-D

Fiona, I like your little wishing well, we have one similar that Conrad and Jan bought us. It sits down by our pond.

As I said before the pond is covered in DUCK WEED. Lewis decided to try to net it and put it on the side of the pond. His first attempt was to bring up two newts , which he swears are "GREAT CRESTED" If they are, the are protected, so I won't be able to pump out the pond, and clean it. Who do you report these finds to ???

Ann, I am not one just to sit around when there are things to be done. Now I can look at the lawns and think, THEY ARE DONE OUT OF THE WAY. !! Will try to attempt the shrub/bush tomorrow, before it gets to hot.

I have noticed that Ros's car stop light are staying on. I have told her when she get something out of the boot (shopping most days) to check the lights are off. This afternoon as we saw Harvey and Lewis off, You guessed it the light were on, so she got an earful from me, now she's turned tutt. so I will ignore her till she comes round, as least I will get some more peace and quiet. :-P :-P :-P

Not your Keys again Ann :-S :-S :-S.Good job you had your rescued ones.I bet lots of freezers have broken down today in shops. It always seems to happen in heat waves.

Hannah sent some more pics. They are now somewhere called Arequipa after a 10 hour journey. They have gone through some wonderful scenery and very scary roads.High up and with no barriers. She said there some Butt Clenching moments :-S

Annx Report 13 Jul 2013 16:31

WellI I nearly didn't go anywhere........OH had driven off with my car keys in his car where HE put them yesterday! :-S Luckily I now have my spares. I only got as far as the shop then. The metal gear knob was so hot I had to wrap the duster in the car around it and the temp guage said 37 degrees when I set off and only dropped one degree after that. I just got my icecream, some strawberries and spring onions and crusty rolls and came home. It was lovely in the shop though with their AIRCON. Panic at the back though as one of their freezers had packed up. Fiona I must get more organised and stock up on icecream in the freezer. Your wishing well and flowers look very pretty.

Jane

Jane Report 13 Jul 2013 15:59

Frank ,that person who complained about the Railway Children probably has nothing better to do :-S :-S
You must have some stamina to do all that in the garden today.Chris can't even stay out in it today. In fact I just found sleeping on the settee in his study lol

Frank did you get the pics of the Mummies come through?

Fiona ,your little Wishing Well is looking very pretty :-D :-D.It's about time I changed my pic.I'm getting fed up seeing my face :-D

Ann I bet you didn't want to get out of the car with all the lovely Air Con.I always have mine on winter or summer in the car.It drives James nuts as he says it dries his eyes out.I just tell to face away from the vents ;-) ;-)

Cold drink refill now

Fiona

Fiona Report 13 Jul 2013 14:54

Hi everyone, still a lovely day here,

tempted to get an ice cream myself Annx but will just pop into our freezer for one. changed Matteo's pic for one of my wishing well, it's doing very well so far this year.

Annx

Annx Report 13 Jul 2013 13:59

Frank.......I don't know how you do it in this heat..........no wonder you needed lots to drink. Your garden must look great now though. OH weeded the back garden last night......just needs me to do some dead heading later. We've abandoned putting the arbour up while it's this hot so OH has carried the bits down the side of the bungalow in the shade. I was telling him about Lewis's tooth this morning and how you take him to the club and get him bacon sarnies..........he said he'd be round too if he got those!! :-D

Well, I think I am going out after all. It is cooler in the car. I'll get a nice icecream and pop into Wistow garden centre maybe. :-)

Frank

Frank Report 13 Jul 2013 13:15

WOW, I am HOT HOT HOT. After trying to post and loosing it I went into the garden and cut and trimmed the front lawn, the boarders looked a bit packed down from the watering, so I got a hand fork and forked over all the boarders. They look nice now. Then onto the back lawn. All cut and trimmed, but haven't done the boarders. Have drunk 5 yes (FIVE) pints of WATER this morning. What a thirst I have, Good job is wasn't beer, or I would be flat out on the bed by now ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Lewis and Ros are that the Cinema this lunchtime, best place to be with the AIR CON, ON. He's fine this morning, had his Bacon sandwich and Weetabix for breakfast. No complaints about his tooth.!!

Did you see in the paper yesterday, SOME PRATT has complained about the film "RAILWAY CHILDREN" saying that in didn't give the right message to children about playing near the railway lines. Haven't they got better things to do with their lives :-( :-( :-( :-( Bast###s

Ros has cut back a shrub in the garden that hasn't flowered for three years, all it needs now is for me to dig it out. I looked at it the morning, but it looks to bigger job for me at the moment. I still have that tree to cut down and plant it's replacement, that sits on the patio. It gets watered every night, so it's time will come.

Yes Jane, I will have a peep at your photo's, I like anything like that.

Reminds me of a story, don't know why.

After my separation from my ex. We had a promotion in the sales dept at DATSUN. for every car sold we would give away a weekend for two to Paris or Amsterdam. After the event we had a ticket over, and my M D gave it to me for Amsterdam. While there I went to the Van Goth Gallery. There was one painting of a girl crying. The tear drop just laid on her cheek as though it had just left her eye. Of course I HAD TO touch it, and sent off the alarm, I was approached by two guards. who told me "NO TOUCH" I felt I could have crept under the nearest stone . How embarrassed was I :-D :-D :-D NEVER TOUCHED ANOTHER ONE.

What's that song "I'm looking over a four leaf clover" That is just like my neighbours back and front lawns. absolutely covered in clover flowers. Not been touched again since two weeks ago. The grass round the edge is at least TWO FEET tall, I'm going to spray weed killer on his side of the front lawn, to stop it growing into my garden. The bindweed it almost up to the top of my 6ft fence at the back, so that will get done also. It's just a matter of time, when they are out.

Moan over for now,

Don't get BURNT this afternoon, I'm off to the shade of the Cherry tree.

Fiona

Fiona Report 13 Jul 2013 12:49

Afternoon all, evening Kim.

William, OH came home from France 2 weeks ago and brought back a rotten cold plus a cough, then passed it on to me, we are both still coughing up that awful phlegm & going through mountains of tissues too.

Victoria & family have a guest staying with them from Italy, Daniele's (Vics OH) cousin Giovanna, she is 22 and has decided to learn English she will be studying in Glasgow at a Language College for the next month, so will be travelling into Glasgow with Daniele when he goes to work every morning by train.
We will be meeting her tomorrow when they come down for dinner, last time we saw her was 5 years ago at Victoria's wedding, she certainly will have grown up since then.
Victoria goes back to work tomorrow, so having an extra person around will make looking after the kids easier for Daniele .

Victoria & family are off to Blair Drummond Safari Park today in Sterling, it will be a great day weather wise and the kids will love seeing the animals

Well it's pizza for lunch so better go and put the oven on, it will be roasting in the kitchen, all the windows are open already. :-D :-D
