Well ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls,I have a new computer,or rather a used refurbished formatted one I bought off ebay;arrived yesterday.

Set it up this morning and it works exactly as it should. It's literally a gift because I got a PPI repayment from Barclays and used the money to buy the PC.

I'd have been happier if it had Microsoft Office installed but I have to settle for Open Office.

I'm sure if I'd asked at the time of purchase the seller would have insalled Microsoft Office for a nominal fee..

It's an HP tower with MS operating system. What did we do before computers?

FiFi has been back to the vets, she's doing well.Vets only complaint was that despite the Frontline she still has fleas which could give her worms.

Good idea about the tray near the TV thank you.

I hope every one is well.Raining here.

Oh that's not good news for Kim, he's so young too.

David don't waste your money on those sprays for the kittens, they don't work, I used it when one of the cats was going where I didn't want her to and it didn't make any difference at all. Here's a tip for you Ann, if you fill a plastic see through bottle with water and place it in the doorway of the greenhouse the cats won't go in, my daughter had a problem with cats coming in her cat flap, it worked for her the only problem was her own cat wouldn't come in either :-0

I have just read the book called The Beach, and was looking for the DVD as I enjoyed the book so much, it's quite an old film so haven't been able to find it, but looking at the tv guide it's on freeview tonight, so that's me sorted :-D.

Going over to son's in a minute at least I got to wander round the boot sale this morning, was up at 7.00 that's practically the middle of the night for me, got a nice little dolly for Chloe, daughter was looking for one to take on holiday with us.

Good to see Hannah is getting out and meeting up with old friends, it's going to be hard for her though going back to London.

Have a good day everyone, if you've got your binoculars out Frank you might see me up on the roof, I'll give you a wave.

Will try again/

Good morning / Afternoon my little honey bees or wasps !!

I'm a very angry BUMBLE BEE. I have tried so many times to get on here. When I did, I was posting when up came "YOU ARE NOT CONNECTED TO THE NETWORK". I think it's time Genes spent our money on sorting the site out instead of sponsoring Television Programmes. I got myself in a right "two and eight"

How the devil are you all, I see Mel is off to do her Quasimodo (sp) impressions, where do you find the time ??? with all that you have going on.

Yes Ann, the real football starts today. I will be watching the new BT football channel. Liverpool V Stoke. Save me going to the pub, and spending money, to watch SK#

It's good that Hannah is meeting up with old friends, she will be able to "bend their ears" with her problems. <3 <3

Home alone as usual. for a Saturday morning. Ros has a few bits to get while at Morriso#s. She will walk in halfway through the football. That won't please her. she will have to stay out longer on a Saturday, if there is a match every week.
Will, I was posted at different places. Wilmslow for Basis training. Devizes for Trade training, Old Catton, Norwich, then onto West Raynham, Fakenham, Norfolk where we had the Hunters and Lightning P 1s I got de-mobbed from there in March 1960. I was deferred for quite a time through my Fathers illness. He died in Jan 1958. They have me in on St Patrick's day the same year. They didn't hang about. It's not as though they needed me to win a war. !!!!

Very different day here today, blustery spots of rain and a drop in temperature , they promise rain today, and brighter tomorrow.

See you later.

Oh I heard from Kim, Things aren't looking good for her son. He has the same complain as her. Waiting for tests etc.

I see Ann is repeting herself now!!!!

It's always intereting to study pics of ancestors Ann. I can spend loads of time just gazing at different ones. Did'nt Fiona get some pics lately too?

Just about to have some lunch as we are ringing later. I have bought a quarter of pork and apple pie made by locals. Quite expensive but when you see the lump of actual pork in the middle and a large layer of apple plus the usual pork pie filling each side of the center.

Morning All,

OH has just set off for a match at Hungerford so I have a good spell of time to please myself. I ought to make a start on turning up some new bedroom curtains I've had for ages. I could change them and the duvet cover then and get rid of the old ones that are getting a bit dingy now......pale blue with brown and cream orchids on them. The new ones have tulips on them......not sure I'm in the mood for doing that though. :-S

Mel, you do very well with your little table and I bet you must have a few 'regulars' who stop off to look what's there now. It is all runners, cues, pots and toms here at the moment and the beetroot and carrots look like some are ready. But we have noticed a smell of cat mess in the greenhouse!! It will be those 2 new grey tabbies from up the close. They have taken a fancy to the bottom of the close where we are lately. It really is offputting, not just the smell, but the thought of all the parasites and their eggs that could be in their faeces. It will be gloves on from now on!! I have drenched the soil in J*yes fluid for now and hope the smell puts them off as well as disinfects. I will cover it over with plastic sacks next. I would love them to do a 'cat' programme like they did recently where they put cameras on cats to see where they roamed........only this time to see where they 'POOPED'........then see what their owners thought of that!!! ;-)

Istanbul and his ladies aren't in the field anymore, so the farmer must have moved them. They had eaten all that long grass and he had started to bring feed for them. There was loads of mooing when he arrived with feed!! :-) We are wondering what will appear in the field next??

We watched the Burrowers last night and thought it was really good.....we never realised how deep the creatures went!! Me and my friend used to go walking along the canal and river as young girls and there were always water voles swimming along and diving into holes in the banks......never knew they had underwater holes though! Who would have though then that they would be endangered by now.

Yes Mel, I was looking for other likenesses as well as the hair colour and thought that the hairlines of the men and foreheads and noses had some similarities!

Hav'nt got round to seeing if I can get the last ringer yet. Went to feed the chickens and the Kleeneze mna arrived with my order. Did the chickens and then looked in the tunnel. Fed the chicks and let the bantams out. Looked through the videos from last night.

Now I am going up the shop for the paper and bread and see if I can call on Graham.

Morning/Evening All
Cloudy one today and a little breezy but I still feel hot.I don't have problems getting on here now but still get the ERROR thing when I press the post button.I just then back up a page and it had been added. So I don't understand why the ERROR message keeps coming up.

Ive been hunting high and low for my favourite easy Risotto recipe, and found it at last.So that is our dinner tonight. :-D.It is one done in the oven so I don't have to stand stirring the pan for ages.

Chris is working his last ever Saturday :-D.Hannah is going for Brunch with her friend another Hannah .Not sure my Hannah will eat much though. They have known each other since they were 3 at Nursery. Not sure what James is up to today.

Good luck finding your lost ringer Mel.If you don't, will the bells still be able to be rung for the wedding?

Must get some washing in now as it looks like good drying weather at the moment.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 17 Aug 2013 09:45

Morning All and Evening Kim,

Dull and cloudy today at the mo. We have a wedding to ring for in the church today so I won't be around from 1.45pm onwards.

Still can't get our fifth ringer so will have to call round and see if he is in as it is only up the road.

Saw The Burrowers last night on catch up. Interesting but I do wish they would'nt make badgers look so cuddley. Full grown ones can do a lot of damage. If a child came across an injured one and went to touch it it could give worst bites than any dog!!

William Report 17 Aug 2013 09:33

Morning all, it's taken me ages to get here. Same old ERROR message, then trawling though section by section. By then I've forgotten what I want to say to you all!

Just been going through the TV magazine for the week. Not a lot to get excited about. Is it because they think it's holiday time and nobody watches TV? There is a good film on tonight, late but worth recording if too late to stay up. It's called Rabbit-Proof Fence and it's on BBC2 at 11pm. Although the title makes it sound like it's about bunnies, it is actually true and about the mistreatment of the aborigine children in Australia in the 1930's. Sound gloomy but it is very good.

Having laboured my way here, I'm off to get some brekky now, hopefully, I'll be able to get back on later.

Oh Maureen I didn't know Mrs Brown was on tonight.I've been watching the Animal Burrowers .The Rabbits ,Badgers and Water Voles. What a blooming brilliant programme :-D :-D :-D.William is a fan too of Mrs.Brown.

I must get off to bed now .Matchsticks wouldn't even keep my peepers open.

Ooh David toileting behind the TV !!!!.Not good
:-S.I think you can get a spray or something to squirt where the kittens have been doing the business which might put them off going there.Where do you have the litter tray?

I will see you all again in the morning.Just going to drag myself off up the stairs .

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 16 Aug 2013 21:52

Ann how nice to have those photos come your way. It is surprising what turns ups when you least expect it. Can you see any likeness in them apart from the red hair? I used to get so excited when receiving a pic of an ancestor but I have one that I think could be my gt gt grandfather on my mums side but no living rellies know!! He is so like my Charlie Chignell so think it is his father.

Cleaned out the big chickens nest boxes this morning then went up the tunnel and watered everything as I did'nt do it last night. Picked beans and courgettes and a couple of butternut squashes that had reached a good size. Hope they ripen now ok and I have also cut a pumpkin giving the others on the plant a chance to get bigger.

Sold my first two lots of BIG toms (Alicante) out on the table today and some other bits and pieces so was pleased with that. Put more marrows out too.

Jane I hope Hannah starts to eat a bit more soon and is feeling better being back with mum and dad for a few days.

David put a box behind the tv!!

Maureen Report 16 Aug 2013 21:46

It was warmer out than in the house today, should have stayed outside I hardly got any sewing done anyway.

I meant to say what luck Ann, it must have been very exciting to see photos of g.g.grandparent. Have you been watching WDYTYA makes me want to start up again. Maybe in the winter. This weeks one was more like long lost families.

It's very easy to fall in love with kittens David, they'll soon get the hang of the litter tray, Alfie worked it out very quickly and once he was able to go out in the garden he just naturally went out there.

I'm having a few chuckles Jane as I've got Mrs. Brown on the TV, I've seen this one before.

Phew it's boiling here now and the sun is shining.I have changed into my shorts.
The Cucumber soup i think is a disaster. It is far too garlicky :-S.I am sure it will go straight down the drain.

Not so many tears here today butI just wish she would eat something.Just a sandwich today and doesn't want anything before she goes to see her girlfriends.Hopefully there might be nibbles to pick at.I think John is making a huge mistake and will realise when it is too late as there will be no turning back for Hannah.Yes she will have lots to concentrate on with the PhD ,she has worked too hard to not do it and the future once she has it after 3 years should be really good.

Maureen I can't believe you are feeling chilly !!!!.Even when we had all the heavy rain earlier it was so muggy.

William my friend Fitz is always complaining that he is sorting out the freezer as his OH keeps buying more things to cram in even though they might already have several packs of the same thing. He keeps finding fish that has been shoved to the bottom and he has no idea how long(year wise) they have been there.

Oh Ann how exciting for you seeing all those photos especially the red haired ones :-D :-D.It is amazing how suddenly things come to light.

Fiona my tummy feels bloated all the time :-| and there is nothing worse than having a tight waistband especially after eating. It makes you feel sick sometimes.

My Sister rang just now and she is all excited as tickets and info have arrived for the cruise they are going on in 2 weeks. The Norwegian Ffiords :-D.She and Larry need a good break and deserve to have one.Looking after little William has been very tiring for them .I just hope the new baby doesn't decide to arrive early as Janice would be upset not to be here if he did .I think the due date is the 20th September (the same day Chris finishes work for good).

I hope Mandy and family haven't been drenched today and managed to have a nice day out seeing all the animals at the Zoo.

Well I think I might just be cooking for Chris and me .I have no idea if James is in to eat or not.He can just get himself something if he doesn't let me know soon.I have half a Chicken (Piri Piri)

Naughty Frank .....stale bread and cheese lol ;-).My answer might have been the same as John ;-)

No,no homes for the kittens.
Ellen says she loves them, wants to keep them.
But she's getting a bit chewed as they won't use the litter tray for its proper purpose. They prefer to go go behind the TV

Any one want a kitten?

Maureen.....cold? Phew it's gone hot and muggy here now.......I'm in long shorts (sounds a daft thing to say doesn't it?). It sounds like Fiona could be rooting out those tops she put away too now it's hot in Scotland as well.

I have a shopping trolley as well William. I used to use it a lot when I went to Birmingham with my sister. We would buy material and all sorts and both pile it in the trolley to save our backs carrying it all and to save having to keep going to the car to put things in the boot. OH has said about chucking it out a few times, but I won't let him. Now it is in the garage with all the old sheets neatly stored inside it that I use as dust sheets to cover the furniture when decorating.

Maureen

Maureen Report 16 Aug 2013 15:31

Hope the weather is better for Mandy than it is here. I'm feeling quite cold, will have to go and put a pair of socks on and a cardi soon.

At least this weather has given me a chance to get on with things indoors, I have a pile of clothes all needing attention, turning up hems or sewing up seams, and the house has at last had a good clean :-0

I'm hoping to get to a boot sale tomorrow if it doesn't rain so will hold off calling my son until Sunday as I'm sure he'll be asking when I'm going over with my labourers hat on.

I don't know about August Mel the whole summer seems to have whizzed by, why can't the winter months go quicker, but then, don't want to wish my life away.

What will happen to the little kittens David, I daren't have any more, I've got three already.

How is Hannah today Jane, she's such a beautiful girl and clever too, if it does all go pear shape she at least has her PHd to concentrate on.

William

William Report 16 Aug 2013 15:19

Hi everyone, the overnight rain has long gone and if anything it's a tad on the muggy side now. We've been 'down the road' and this time I did take our shopping trolley in the boot of our car. So Frank, that answers your question. I don't think we would call ours LITTLE WILLY though otherwise, with my name, people would think she's referring to me :-D.
The problem is that Carmel will say we don't need much shopping, then when she's out (will I get mobbed if I say like all women?) she buys this and that and it all mounts up.
Jane, I know about shopping on line but with us, Carmel DOES like to get out, better than four walls all the time. I've also heard other 'on-line shoppers' complaining that they've been sent this and that as alternatives when they didn't want those anyway. The other thing is that will do 'selective' shopping, we know what we want where, either for the best price or quality.
So I'm going to leave the trolley in the boot from now on, that way I know it's always on hand.
While I'm rabbiting on about shopping I must bring up our 'freezer issue'. We just have a waist high freezer which really is adequate for our needs. By default I'm the one who loads it and I'm the one who gets things out of it. Carmel tends to forget what's she's bought previously, or 'they're a good price' - and muggins gets the job of trying to reorganise the freezer to accommodate everything. So if we go out shopping I always say don't get much for the freezer, it's full, but inevitably she'll find something in the previous category - and I'm back to repacking the freezer. I think it's called Catch Twenty Two.

Frank did I really mention planes overshooting runways??? I too was at a Hunter station, RAF North Weald, which you probably knew. I know you have Coopersale in your research notes and it wasn't far from NW.
Where were you stationed? I'm just trying to write up my National Service history to leave to my kids for posterity and the more I think about it the more the tale grows.
