William Report 12 Jul 2013 14:34

(From the Naughty Chair) H A P P Y B I R T H D A Y A N N :-D :-D

I had every intention of putting it on here very first thing this morning but that darned Ladybird has had me awake all night flying around the bedroom. Do you think I should make him live out in the garden with all the others creatures?

Seriously Ann, hope you have a lovely birthday and so glad my Ladybird has met with your approval. By the way, the Ladybird said Happy Birthday too, only of course in Ladybird speak!!!

Made a start on the hobbing foot, got the rust off and some of the old paint off yesterday evening and have giving it a coat of primers this morning. Any items on how I should decorate it anyone??? No prizes for winning answer - if there is one. Maybe let you have one months GR without any ERROR messages!

The hobbing foot, last, call it what you will has given me cause to think on the past. I just took it for granted that Dad repaired our shoes but never gave a thought as to where he learned the skills (like holds tacks in his mouth without swallowing them). But since I have done my family research I have found out that all my grandmothers folks on my fathers side where in the boot and shoe business in South London. So he probably picked it up when he was a lad. I can remember he had these special curved knives for cutting the leather to shape once it was applied to the shoe.

Got to take Carmel to the doctors at 3.50pm so better get on.

Afternoon all,

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANN". what a great day , sunshine for the birthday girl !! Have a good one <3 <3

Not a lot happening this end, washing on the line by ROS !!!. I have showered and in shorts. We are off to pick Lewis up for his dentist appointment (one extraction)

I have made Spag Bols for tonight. Will be nice and easy for him to eat.

I got my lawn sprinkler out yesterday, It's knackered, won't go from side to side. Have ordered a new one from Ebay. Everywhere is so dry, I have been watering the baskets, pots, and beds. But the lawn needs a good soak. I think I will give a trim tomorrow, and water it when I get my new sprinkler.

Must get ready for the off, We have to be there by 2.00 pm in Toddington.

Behave yourselves, I'll see you later.

Morning All,

Many thanks for your birthday wishes and all the lovely cards, which are now along the window sill in the lounge. :-D :-D I love the little lavender sachet Mel.....did you make it?......if so, well done. It is going on the narrow shelf above my headboard tonight........see if it helps me sleep!! :-)

It is tricky getting big tablets down Kim, easier with food, but a lot have to be with just water. I'm really hoping they will improve your health and am keeping everything crossed for you.

Jane, I will tell OH I can have his pudding then!! lol. I'm looking forward to the meal......they have a nice ham hock dish I fancy!! Yes, I would like to see the mummies please. It fascinates me how they used to do these things all those years ago....even if a bit gruesome!!

OH got me a very appropriate card to do with the state of my tomatoes and cues........will scan and send it later! ;-)

Well, I'd better ring those people about the table and chairs that are still here now......then shower and off out for lunch and to see Richard's head!! BBL.....hope you all have a good day too. <3 :-D <3

<3 <3 <3 HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR ANN <3 <3 <3

Have a lovely meal and enjoy your trip to Bosworth. Hope you get lots of cards and nice presents from OH.

It has been sunny here today, so lots of washing to get dry.

Have started on the new treatment, large tablets. Yesterday I could not swallow, but got it down today. Dose will go up to 2 tabs x 3 daily, sure hope it works.

Went and picked out a new lounge suite for the back room. It is in leather, but we are getting a fabric covering to dress up with nice cushions. Should be ready by some time in October.

Hope everyone is doing okay. Might BBL 4.36 pm AEST

Ruby we used organic coconut oil for our cooking for years, but have gone back to olive oil now. It is very good for you, especially for weight loss. I have a jar and I rub it on my skin, very softening on the complexion.

Thank you Ruby. :-) I just dig the beds from the top with a trowel. They aren't trodden on so the soil doesn't get compacted and we have mixed compost in to keep it light. It is nice being able to gather the potatoes at waist height!

After we've been for the meal tomorrow, we are off to the Bosworth heritage site (near where we walked through the snowy wood in the winter) The reconstructed head of Richard 111 they made is on show there till next Tuesday. After that it is going on tour. Also, the schools break up tomorrow and it will be busy after then.

O I see I was a bit late posting Frank's messages but at least you have seen them.

Been busy clearing up in the house today. Don't seem to have got very far though. Have put loads of stuff away and had to watch oh vac the pond.

Have taken a pic of the snake skin at last. I kept forgetting to take the camera up the tunnel.

Loved the before pics of the garden fiona. Am now waiting to see the finished project. It is going to look great.

William thanks for the pics. I like your ladybird too.

Ruby

Ruby Report 11 Jul 2013 20:27

Hello All,

I've just lost another message, so this may be a repeat.

I'm glad your weather is staying fine. we have had rain and thunderstorms every evening for several weeks, which is very unusual for us. It has keep the temps. down a bit, but is very humid.

William, you did a great job on the ladybird. I also love the little couple on the front of the dianthus pot. The cobbler's foot brought back some memories. My dad too, used to mend our shoes down in the shed, and sometimes we would feel the tip of a nail in our feet!

Your garden is immaculate Ann - not a weed in sight. I'm wishing now that my raised beds were as high as yours. Can you dig them from the side? I usually clamber up in the middle to dig. If they were any higher, I'd never get back down :-D :-D

Have any of you ever cooked with coconut oil? It's supposed to be good for anyone with Altzheimers . I have bought some, but am afraid to use it in case I don't like the flavor. Must look up some ways to use it.

Ann, I see you're having a birthday tomorrow, so 'Happy Birthday' for tomorrow, and hope you have a wonderful day.

Sorry to hear your SIL has had another stroke Mandy. It sounds like she had been badly affected with the previous ones to be living in a home.

Fiona, thanks for the pics, you have a nice spot there for the greenhouse. It will soon be up once the slabs are down.

OH is taking me to The Windmill Inn at Brascote tomorrow for lunch for my birthday......it's where I took him for his 60th. :-D Another 2 cards arrived today.....OH has hidden them all away till tomorrow. :-) I don't even get chance to look at the postmarks!!

Oh Frank......you're back! Me cheeky.....I think I must have meant the others as I'm such a good girl me!! ;-) Good that you got all done in 2 hours at the hospital..........that's long enough!

William, your pad is a veritable treasure trail, with something around every corner! I'm impressed with your ladybird.....very good!!

We popped to the garden centre for a quick lunch and sat in the shade outside today. I had a roast veg wellington with more veg and a small jacket pot and OH had sweet and sour chicken and rice. When I asked what mine came with the answer was 'whatever you like!' I think we are so well known there now!! Everything is nicely cooked there and the veg mostly home grown.

Well, NO-ONE has rung to come and collect this wrong patio set today. :-S It's sitting in the driveway so it's a good job it hasn't been raining. :-|

OH has gone to the first friendly match of the season.......soon comes around. He called to see a friend he gets football programmes for yesterday and he said the chap is having to get rid of some of his programmes as he has a garageful and also has to make room for his brother who is coming to live with him..........guess who he is giving some of them too? :-S :-S I've given him a warning.....red card next!! This friend has already given OH some valuable ones though, but hopefully OH will jettison some others to make room. I keep telling him they are a fire risk!

William Report 11 Jul 2013 18:20

Hi folks, nice to see Frank back on, even if he is like TV - repeats :-D
I've had to come on via Google and stepladder here again!

Have replied to Frank's email as I went there first to send you all some more photos (are you sick of them yet?) So now I know how things went at the hospital. Carmel is still waiting to hear when her MRI scan will be and the further head treatment.

We have been out most of the day, I had to take my car for a recall but all was well and we sat in a nice cool reception area reading free papers and drinking free drinks.
So while we were out we did some shops too. Carmel is looking for some baby cloths to send to the girls for the new arrivals. The fact that there are two is complicating things a bit.
Then we too ourselves off to the nearby M*rrisons and had a nice lunch, so no cooking tonight again.
