Morning /Evening All
All cloud at the moment and pretty darned close .It feels that kind of air where you can't take a complete deep breath (if you know what I mean).
I have a few jobs to get done out and about this morning and then hopefully the sun might have come out :-D

I had planned to go to my Sisters on Saturday to go with them to The Tewkesbury Medieval Festival. But looking at the temp for the weekend I think it going to be too hot for me and being in crowds when it's like that I just can't do ,so I think I am going to give it a miss this year.

Mel I hope the babies and Mum had a good night and all is well with them :-D :-D

Hope our Frank manages to get on today. BBL

Morning all. The usual early morning stepping stones to get into GR. I think we should club together and buy them an alarm clock :-(

Ann, I'm looking forward to seeing the ladybirds, then I'll see if I can cook something up similar, love the idea. The boot was sprayed first last time with some left over aerosols I had. This time I've used some spare floor tile red, though it might weather better. The birds I take into the shed for the winter but Dad's boot stays out all the year.

Don't know what today holds for us, mostly having a rest I think. We were both in bed just after 10pm last night. Another hot one on the way.

C Y A L - and I'll be glad when my mate Frank is back on here!

Jane is is good that the wood burner etc in now in. You will be nice and warm now this winter.

We went off to the local builders yard this morning and bought a sheet of thick plywood for the roof of the old bantam house. Oh fitted it and covered it all in new felt and now it looks very smart. Banty was duly put in there and then her chicks all 7 of them!! We made a nest box for her out of a plastic storage box and lid but she won't go in it tonight so is in the run on the grass with all the chicks safely tucked underneath her. I have taken a couple of pics through the wire but hav'nt downloaded them yet. Not sure if you will be able to see them as they looked very dark pics.

Maureen I pity you in this heat with all that ironing to do. I keep washing things but hav'nt ironed ay of it yet!! At least I can leave mine but you have to do yours.

Thanks for the pics of the boot William. Looks much better now you have painted it.

Picked two courgettes tonight and we had the yellow one for dinner in a ratatou (sp) to hot I can't think how to spellit but you know what I mean.

Off for my shower now so see you all in the morning God willing.

That's good the fire and surround are all fitted Jane! Yes, 3 of us are Crabs then with July birthdays!! lol. :-D I love the pic of happy little William enjoying cooling off. :-)

That's a bit of tricky paintwork on the boot William, especially the buttonholes, but it looks good now. I went into the depths of the shed to find my ladybirds today and I've given them a wash and put them in the garden......have sent a pic. It could be your next 'project' .......all you need is some flattish pebbles and I see you have been using some red paint!! ;-) ;-)

What a game it was sorting out my jewellery classes this morning. The woman (who signs us all in at our classes and is,frankly, a bit of a drip) came to sort it out, but didn't know how booking online worked, seemed to think I should have printed off receipts and quickly passed me on to someone else who said she'd try and check for me. Then she said why didn't I ring to book!!!! I told her the sorry saga of how many times I'd tried that, both before and after our holiday and how no-one rings you back even if you leave a message. I said some folk would give up and not bother. 'Oh that's not very good is it' she said, 'because then we end up cancelling classes if there aren't enough people'. 'Quite' said I, 'and it doesn't stop there does it, because then the council collects less money in.........for paying wages......and that could lead to job cuts'. The shocked look on her face showed she'd never looked at it like that!! Anyway, they confirmed I am booked in for the courses so that is good!

At the carvery we went to today I got a free bottle of house wine as it is my birthday this week so OH was pleased with that!

Glad you got a rest at your daughter's Maureen, but I don't envy you ironing this weather. I can remember doing it outside sometimes!

A very belated birthday wish for you Jane, I am sorry it is so late, but I'm glad to see you had a lovely birthday, I was away at daughters for the weekend sitting in her garden being waited on hand and foot, I really needed that after all the work last week at son's.

Thank you for all the photos and e.mails haven't had a chance to see them all but I will work my way through them. I am so tired today, i do love this weather but not when I've got hours of ironing.

William Report 9 Jul 2013 19:28

Jane, my birthday is the 15th, St Swithin's Day. Don't bother sending me cards - the money will do instead :-D

Emailed photos of Dad's boot that I finished this evening.

I said we were in Kenilworth today. Well a week or so ago we were reunited with friends of ours who live in Kenilworth. When they left, they said anytime you are our way, call in. So we had finished our shopping and were gagging for a cuppa and I suggested I ring our friends and see if they were in and ask in we could call. I got the number on my mobile and rang and waited. Then Roy's voice, so clear you'd think he was standing over the road, said hello etc. I said we were in Kenilworth and would like to see them - to which he replied "We're in Normandy!!!"
We'll it was a laugh even if a hole in my phone bill.

Phewy! I still can't sit out for more than a couple of minutes.
William which day is your birthday ?You me and Ann this month :-D

So another little Sophia :-DI have heard the name Peyton before. It is certainly different and I quite like it :-D

Just had another message from Hannah(I'm so pleased she is keeping us up to date as to where they are going as I can look it all up on google.I have to say ~I am so envious. The day after tomorrow they are going to see the NAZCO LINES.I can't explain clearly enough what they are but if googled it gives a clear description of them and when they were made.

Just Pasta for us tonight with chopped mushrooms and lardons to go in the sauce.
I'm too hot to do anything more.

I had trouble getting on here a little while ago as it said there was a technical problem .Looks like it sorted now.

Poor Frank, got the GR blues!! Never mind, he knows we are all thinking of him. As Arnie would say "I'll (he'll) be back" - - -

New Gt Granddaughters name is Sophia Peyton (Taylor) - please don't ask me where they Peyton comes from, I haven't a clue. It should make genealogy very interesting for someone in the far future!

That's a Ralph, Maggie, Grace, Olivia and now Sophia. All nice tried and tested names (and Maggie is Maggie - not Margaret, which we are find hard to come to terms with - but on the flip side, when you look at her and watch her it suits her. As Carmel says, she's been here before ;-)

We've been to Kenilworth and also Knowle today, needless to say Carmel has gone for a rest. Didn't buy much but we have ordered my birthday present from Carmel.

No oven on tonight, I'm getting out the frying pan and it's bacon, mushroom and mash for me and bangers mash and whatever for Carmel. It doesn't come any more simple than that.

I've finished painting Dad's stone boot and I think I'm just going to put a trailing ivy in for this time. Ann, stone ladybirds, they sound great, I'm envious. And on sound advice, the pharaoh is going to stay au natural

Afternoon everyone,Evening Kim,

Phew another hot one , my eyes have been so itchy ,yesterday it felt like they were full of grit !! now today i have been sneezing all morning ,taken my hay fever tablets too :-S

Oh Mel , how lovely all those new chicks !! :-D i hope we can see a photo of them soon.

Jane it sounds as if the new fire place is coming along , is the wood burner in ? or is that put in after the surround is done ?

I really want to sort my freezer out ,see what meat i have in there , trouble is i need to get all the stuff out to see whats what and have a good tidy up in there but it's a bit to hot to pull every thing out .

Think i'll get my ironing done instead ,i can do that in front of the fan !! :-D

Frank is having big problems posting today. He says he is off to Conrads after lunch and will try again tonight :-D

Fireplace coming along nicely I think .I thought the surround came as a whole bit ,but they seem to be building it bit by bit.

Not one cloud in the sky at the moment.I would go and sit out but the men are using the lawn at times to saw things or something,so I am up in the front bedroom .I want to really want to put my shorts on ,but might give the men a bit of a fright :-0Maybe it will have to be my loose old Linen trousers.I just want something cooler than the trousers i have on now.

Lunch I think :-D

Morning All and Evening Kim,

Kim must be there and possibly back by now??? I do hope she got on ok and Joel.

Good luck for David today too. Hope he gets rid of the contraption as it must be awful in this heat.

Still have 6 lovely chicks and I took the other eggs out as there was no sign of chipping and she had come off the nest with the chicks into the run area.

Now off up the road to get a sheet of marine ply for the roof of the other banty house so they can all go in that and have more room and some grass to peck about on.

Feeling better today I think.
