Mandy, the milk cartons are full of water. Although I have a watering can, the milk cartons are handy to water the planters, especially if they are higher up or smaller. I have about 6 on the go at a time before I recycle them. Leaving the water standing also keeps it a good temperature.

Oh that sounds yummy Jane, no wonder you don't want any thing to eat tonight after all that . Poor Hannah it must be awful to get so anxious and upset like that ,hopefully John will be able to keep her calm , can she take any thing to help calm her down a little for the flight ?
Good for Janice having a go at the Race for Life ,i hope she raises lots of money ,i think it should be even hotter tomorrow though :-S :-S

Hello all,
I was typing my message when it suddenly vanished, so will start again.
Sorry to be so late Jane, but 'Happy Birthday'. It sounds as though you had a really good one. My sister always pulls her bra off too, as soon as she gets home. I love your little woodpecker. I had one up on the barn one day pecking away, so I suppose he found something good to eat, but didn't notice for a couple of days, that he had stripped the stain off one long area.! Would like to see your new fireplace when it's done.
Your snake is quite a big one Mel. Now that he has shed his skin, will he move on ? A couple of years ago, one of my sons was under my house working on some duct work that needed to be replaced, and he came across a snake skin! I have to watch for them all the time. The homes in this part of the country are mostly built above ground. Underneath is called the crawl space, so that plumbing etc is easily accessible. We all have steps to the doors.
I loved everyone's photos. Fiona, your little ones are beautiful. It's time we had some more babies in the family - youngest is now 5.
I'm going off to visit my friend who came home from Re-hab today with the broken ankle, to see what help I can give. Members from her church came this week and built a ramp at the front because she'll be in a wheelchair for a while. Hope you don't stay in the sun too long - I know you want to enjoy it while you can.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend, Ruby x

Mandy ,I think this is what we all had Starters Chris had some kind of Terrine,James a pot of Olives, and me Smoked Haddock andSpring Onion Risotto Balls with a Lemon Mayonnaise.
Main Chris had a fancy Chicken dish,James and I both had Steak with a Truffle and Oregano butter drizzled over it (yummy),big fat chips and veg
Then for dessert Chris had something called Chocolate Nemesis (Which looked very sickly) I had 2 scoops of Sorbet. One was Raspberry and Basil and a Strawberry one.I must say the one with Basil was so good even though it sounds a bit odd. James just had 1 truffle and a double espresso coffee. It was all really nice :-D :-D I somehow don't think we will be wanting to eat anything this evening........But I bought all that Tapas food :-S.It feels too warm to even think of food right now.
Thanks once again everyone for all your Cards and Birthday Wishes. Maureen ,once again a piece of art :-D :-D.Thank you

Frank ,I wanted the other girl to win too.She just wasn't up to it today though was she.It made me cry when she cried and I had to wipe my tears in my Bra (which I had taken off because it was too hot). They are so flipping uncomfortable in this heat.I found one I had taken off the other day hanging on a lamp !!!!!!! That was James who hung it there :-S
When we got to the Pheasant we sat outside for a while and had a drink while we chose our meals, and we watched the chef picking herbs from the herb garden :-D
Tomorrow my Sister is doing the Race for Life (walking not running with that knee) she is doing the 3 mile one around Cheltenham Racecourse.I think she is a flipping brave girl to do that as her knee isn't the best and in this heat too !!!!!!
Hannah and John are of to Peru in the morning.I just got off the phone with Hannah. I feel so sorry for her as she always gets herself in a terrible state whenever she flies off somewhere. It is an anxiety problem she has never been able to grow out of.So she has been in tears and will be no doubt until they get to Peru !!!!!!!! She feels so cross with herself but it is something she just doesn't seem to be able to get over. It is a dreadful shame as it can spoil her holidays. It isn't a fear of flying it is something to do with being away from home and not being able to get back to somewhere that she feels safe. She has been like this ever since she choked on a sweet when she was about 5,and Chris had to do that Manoeuvre thing to dislodge it .That happened when they were in the middle of some woods,so when they got home she was 'safe' It is just an irrational fear which sadly affects her life at times like this. But this is a holiday of a life time so I'm keeping everything crossed that John will get her through ,and they have a fantastic time.
IT'S HOT.,and everything is wilting.Including me :-S.Even hotter tomorrow.......oh for a bit of sea breeze :-D

William what a pretty garden you have , i love the idea of putting the tiles on the wall it really brightens it up ,i love all the pots and the wind chimes too, and lovely place for Carmel to sit and read . Can i just ask what are you saving all the plastic milk cartons for ?
Yes our watering will be done later when it's cooler ,i notice i have a few tomatoes forming now ,there seems to be lots of flowers but not that many toms forming . Two cues nearly ready for picking :-D i keep thinking i'll just leave them to get a bit longer :-D

Glad the birthday girl had a nice lunch and a perfect sunny day, enjoy the rest of the day.
Disappointed with the Tennis Final. I so much wanted the German girl to win, after the way she played up to the final. But she ended up not performing. The French girl did play well and deserved to win. Good luck to her <3 <3
I have just come in from the garden, sitting in the shade reading my book. It was heaven out there till someone decided to light a BBQ. Gawd knows what they are cooking, it smells like paraffin. I hope they haven't used it to get their coals going.. It will taint the food. and it stinks the area out. :-( :-( :-(
We have decided on an Indian tonight. Ros has found one she really likes, and I will find something that's not too spicy. but I do like a bit of taste. Beers are in the fridge cooling down for this evening.
I agree Jane, I would never have thought of collecting tiles to put on the fence, we do have the odd pot thing that hangs on hooks. But that's a great idea. Might be worth copying ;-) ;-) ;-) SORRY WILL. I see you say you get some from "JUNK SHOPS" I will have to get Ros to look around, when she's out and about.
Will leave it till later, then I will go out and do the watering. I might even put the sprinkler on the lawn and boarders. The blackbirds will love that.
More than likely be back later, load of tosh on Tele again tonight as usual. Why can't they put something on like a good variety show. Like we use to have years ago. Moan over.!!!

Back from really smashing lunch.Everything was just perfect, although I had to use the wine list as a fan ! I was just a tad too hot.
William ,you have a really interesting and lovely garden .So much going on and all the colours. What a good idea to have the tile wall :-D.I have enjoyed looking at all the pics (more than once now :-D)
I think it is much too hot now .I have every curtain in the house (at the back ) drawn.Chris seems to have vanished.Think he has gone for a lie down.I watched the tennis in my sun lounger in the lounge :-D :-D It is just so comfortable .Chris thought I was nuts :-|
Ooh Kim ,I bet you can't wait now until Tuesday. Is the new treatment in tablet form?It would be great for you to get a second wind (I think that is the right expression). What a shame Joel has Thyroid probs. He is still so young as you say.Good that your daughter has been taken on permanently .A great relief for all :-D :-DI really pleased for her.
Time for another cold drink I think .

Afternoon and Evenng Kim,
I do hope this new treatment will set you on the road to more of a recovery Kim. Good luck for Tuesday from me and him. Hope Joel can get sorted too. What good news on the daughter front. Perhaps she will be more settled now she knows she has permanent employment.
Was out in the garden most of yesterday and pimms on the lower deck later in the day. Did'nt cook last night really as I did'nt feel like it so we had the sausages in sandwiches and I did a pud from the freezer in the microwave. Only three mins and it was a summer fruit sponge.
Went up to open the tunnel this morning and fed most of the squashes and marrows and courgettes and when I got to the one where the snake usually is I spotted it's skin of it's tail end. Followed it through and I now have the whole skin. Must take a pic for you all to see.
Youngest SIL is coming down next Friday so I have to have a good cleanup. Blast..... but it will be nice to see her again and her hubby and youngest dau Stephanie.
Must be off up the shop now and sort out something for dinner tonight. Probably fillet steak as thats easy to do.

Morning Everyone, Evening Kim
<3 <3 <3 HAPPY BIRTHDAY JANE :-D :-D <3 <3
We have a warm day today, and there's still that wind, I remember the days I would sit out for hours in the sun reading my book, now I can only sit for a couple of hours as I can't cope with the heat, hot flushes and my head, BUT AT LEAST I AM OUT IN THE SUN :-D :-D :-D this year.
I am very tired with a cold and all this running up and down to Victoria's house , I am happy to say she is looking & feeling a lot better and now just needs to get her energy back.
Going for a coffee, and a sit down.
