Maureen you are going to be able to have a lovely chilled weekend after all your hard work at your sons. :-D.Glad Finley is none the worse after his bump.Children do tend to get over things like that much better than the parents :-D :-D
Well all the boys have gone for today. As for not being much mess...anything and everything was covered in a coating of black dust :-S.Some no doubt from the 1930's when the house was built.I have damp dusted what I can for now and hoovered the carpet. It is too humid to do much more. The fireplace is covered now with a dust sheet ,until next Tuesday when everything will be put in place and finished.I see I have a funny looking Chimney Topper up on the roof.
Lots of cards arrived today :-D.I was thinking if the wall paper is going to be coming off I could stick them on the wall above where the Mantlepiece was lol I think I might just do that . I was just trying to work out how many drinks I made today for the hard workers.I think it was 14 altogether
How's that Kitchen doing Mandy?Nearly done? :-D

Glad to say Finley is fine and wondering what all the fuss is about, everytime he starts running son says ..........mind your head ............... I think my son is more upset than Finley, keeps blaming himself for leaving the timber there, I keep telling him hindsight is a wonderful thing.
It's son's house he is doing the loft conversion in Ann, not the one we rent next door, at the moment it's only a two bedroom and his step daughter is ten now so really needs a bit of privacy from her 3 year old brother. Glad you have your keys back. How's the garden coming on now, I haven't been down to see how the toms etc. are doing in mine.
I'm not surprised you are excited about this new contact for your family tree Mandy, I would love to find photos of my grandparents I only have one of my dad's mum and dad and a couple of my mum's mum, that's it, I would love to have seen mum's dad, he was apparently a very big, tall man, hands like shovels my mum said.
Thanks for passing on Fiona's message Mel, I hope her daughter is better soon, what would our kids do without mum to come to the rescue.
It looks like it's going to get warmer and sunnier, a sunny weekend apparently, I'm off to daughter's in Bedford for the weekend as is daughter and s-i-l who got married last year, so no labouring this weekend, we shall be sitting in her garden sipping wine while the barbeque sizzles.
Hope there's not too much disruption Jane with the new fireplace, send us a pic when it's done.

Mandy ,Chester used to look so put out when he would see me taking all his bedding away lol.I think he might have been panicking a bit too thinking he was going away on his hole.
Well I think there are 4 chaps here at the moment. The DUST from the bricks is everywhere. The whole of my kitchen tops are covered :-S.Not sure how it all got in there as I thought I had shut the door. I wish I had listened to Chris and had the curtains in the lounge down. They will have to come down later and then I can get them out side for a good old beating. They can't be washed so I daren't use my steam cleaner on them . I got the biscuits. One pack of Chocolate Hob No** finished and some Choc chip ones. Now I have had to go for more milk as I hadn't realised how low we were. They do like their teas and coffee lol. The back and sides are going to be rendered or boarded or some such thing. So no brickwork showing at all.The recess isn't as deep as I had hoped so the fire will not be right in,but they said that is better as the heat will come out into the room more .The picture in the brochure obviously shows a larger fireplace(I hadn't thought of that :-S) I can't sit in the garden really as they are in and out the patio door all the time ,so I am settled upstairs now to watch Wimbledon.I daren't lie on the bed to watch it as I will drop off,and I can't do that while the boys are here .I need to keep an ear open incase they need me :-D
Frank your friend and the STs reminded me of when I was on a ski trip in Austria with school. So many of out group went down with Asian Flu,and my best friend did exactly the same so that she didn't breath in everyones germs lol.Luckily she only did it in the hotel .They do come in handy for various things :-D :-D..My lovely dad had a terrible problem with excess saliva when he was suffering with Motor Neurone Disease.Eventually he was given medication to help, but before that he once tried putting a tampon in either side of his mouth to see if that would help. But the problem there was the tampons just swelled up too much he looked like a Hamster !!!!.It did make us laugh even though it was a sad situation to be in.
Right I must concentrate on Tennis now BBL

Afternoon everyone,
I sat out under the brolly in the garden reading the paper and having my coffee i just happened to looked up and realised it was raining !! Toby laid beside me in the rain ...he's daft as a brush he'll lay out in it !! :-D came back in and the suns now shining again. Toby keeps giving me dirty looks as i've washed his bedding and just laid a blanket down for him on the floor , his washed bed is much softer for him for to lay on and i think he's missing it .
Thanks Mel for the message from Fiona, well i hope she soon gets over the virus, i think some times you can get these things from the planes air con .
That's right Jane plenty of tea and biscuits :-D that will keep the work man happy !! Is the fireplace being plastered out round the back of the wood burner or are you having bricks ?
There was a programme on a few weeks ago about Gibralter and all the monkeys , they were talking to the chap who has the job of feeding and looking after them , they looked a bit vicious to me !! they will grab at any thing you have in your hand and go off with it , he was saying he wished people won't try and feed them ,you should have seen them round the back of his truck trying to pinch the food !! one chap had a stick to try and keep them off .
Got a mound of ironing here :-S so that will keep me busy this afternoon .

Did anyone see the program last night about trams? Gosh it was interesting. I was thinking of William all th eway through it as one chap had a museum and he had those cabinets like Will's with all the toy trams in them. I think it was on BBC 4.

Morning all/Evening Kim,
Hi to Fiona, Hope Victoria goes on alright, and the children don't give you a hard time <3 <3
Well by now Jane will be up to her eats in dust and muck. You should get some of those little masks, to save the dust getting up your nose.
Brings a funny back to mind. When I bought the other shop in the village, it had to be stripped back and completely refurbished. My friend Malcolm was the main builder. He caught a terrible cold and his nose would not stop running. He came into the old shop and bought a pack of STs. He put a loop round each ear and the pad under his nose to catch the drips. He looked an absolute sight, and everybody laughed at him when they saw him. He said it worked !!!
Those keys will have to be put in another hidey hole. I tend to put our keys (when I lock up) in the kitchen draw. We have two lockable doors, both front and back. The original ones and the new porch and conservatory doors I know a lot of people just leave the keys in the door.
As a child, I don't ever remember locking our doors when you were home, neighbours would just walk in and call out "IT'S ONLY ME" It could have been anyone.
The weather doesn't know what to do. Loads of cloud about, but mild. Ros has put the sheets out, and gone to town. I am on washing watch.
I'm just out of the shower and shaved, sitting here with a towel round me. Hope I don't have to run out to the garden. The neighbours might get a fright, :-0 :-0 :-0
Jane I caught bits of the Tennis yesterday, Those poor girls all strapped up with bandages and plasters and supports. You don't realise the strain they put their knees under. I could just see me doing that :-D :-D :-D
While Holby was on last night I watch a programme on 5 about the Rock of Gibralter. There are 150 caves in the main rock, and they took you on a tour, what a sight. They think the tunnels went or still do to the Aftrican Coast. and that's how the Monkey's got to the rock. I couldn't believe the network of tunnels and how it's been developed. It took FIVE AND A HALF HOURS to do the tour. Well worth a look on catch up. If you have the time.
I'm off to get dressed. See you later.

Dull and grey and it rained a bit in the night.
Heard from Fiona and here is her message.
Hi Mel
Don't have the time to go on Genes at the moment, Victoria came home from Italy with a virus, so she has seen a doctor and I have been up at her house all this week helping to look after the kids, so please say hello to everyone on the thread and I hope to be back on later. xx Thanks,

Yes i'am really excited about this contact ,it will be lovely to find out about my grandmothers sisters and there was a brother too, when i first started to do the tree Dad was getting really poorly and it was hard for him to remember a lot of things . I think once he married mum he moved this way and really last contact with all the family in Devon except for the usual christmas cards each year . When his mum died he went down to Honiton to sort out her things and sell the house and i think that was the last time he ever went .
So your at last reunited with your keys again Ann :-D now you have to find another hidey place , i was reading some where about places that people hide things and the sock draw came out tops :-D
Lovely sunny evening here .....well it was the suns just about gone now .

Having a lot of trouble getting to the last page. If I post I get the Error Page and can't see if it has posted but is usually has. If I go to My Threads I can see if I am the last to post.
Poor little Finley banging his head like that. I remember once when I lived in the flat in Ilford and was just going to work at mums in Redbridge, There was a great wail from Martin and I went back in and his dad was giving him a horsy ride on his leg and Martin fell off and hit his head on the york stone fireplace surround. Oh said he is alright he's just banged his head a bit. When I took a look he had a gaping hole in his head that was bleeding like anything. Rang mum and we took him to hte hospital and he had to have three stiches in his head and they shaved some of his hair off. Poor little mite, so I really feel for little Finley.
Now lets see if I get the bl**dy Error page when I post this. :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-|

Well, that's got quite a few odds and ends planted!! It's drizzling here now after being fine all day, but I still watered them in anyway as the soil was very dry.
Jane, that's just what happened here......we had the old fireplace out and had one of those gas fires that fit flush to a hole in the wall.......suddenly there was no mantelpiece for cards, candles etc at Xmas! What time are they coming to do it in the morning? Not another early start for you I hope! The pollen has started affecting me now and I've been taking hay fever tabs the last few days. I had a headache and was quite sniffy and my eyes were scratchy and puffed up in the morning and I had that horrid itch deep in my ears!!
My keys won't get put there again that's for sure. ;-)
Mandy's set me off on my FH again after her exciting news, so I'll have a little browse on that now. :-)

At Last Ann.Where are you going to hide the keys next time???.Nice you had your carvery too :-D
Well I have cleared the decks a bit ready for the fire coming out tomorrow. It's a bit difficult knowing how much to move ,but they did say don't go mad as it won't be too dirty(I can't really see that myself but we'll see). They will have lots of sheets for covering up. I was up so early this morning as my nose was stuffed up again and the nasal spray was downstairs. So I sat and had a cup of tea then went outside and cleaned a couple of windows that were covered in a dusty pollen from the pine and yew,and wiped off all the sills on all the windows. So felt quite pleased with myself :-D.Came back in and had another culpa and watched Daddy and Baby Woodpeckers having a good old feed on the Coconut. Then the Squirrel and after them came 2 Magpies.Plus the little birds too.No wonder the fat goes so fast. At one time the Baby Wood P was by itself and the Squirrel came up the branch ,frightened the baby and it took off and flew straight into the widow.Luckily it didn't injure itself and it shot off the the garden.
I bought a bag of peas today and have shelled them all.I now have horrible green thumb nails :-S :-S.How do you get rid of it without having to cut them????.I ate quite a few while I was doing them :-D
I wonder how Fitz is doing on his little cruise. He will be having his birthday today all on his lonesome.I keep meaning to have a google and see what the weather is like for his few hours in Santander.
I realised today I won't have a Mantlepiece to put my cards on this year.So it will have to be the window sills.
OMG I see on the news Nelson Mandelas family are arguing over where the lovely man should be buried (when the time comes). It seems that a Grandson has exhumed the bodies of 3 of Mandela's children and moved them to where he is Chief (or something). What a terribly sad situation :-(
Still nothing from our missing friends.I really hope all are well ,and that David has had good news about the dreadful contraption.

Cole* (probably the same people ) are now down behind big Tesc* on a business park where they have a large show room. The shop off Rockingham rd(might be Regent st) is still there I think that might be Cole*
Oh Mandy I bet you were tickled pink to get that contact :-D.It would be great for you to be able to see any photos.
My Sister has a scar just above one of her eyebrows...............I did that when she was about 3.She was being a right pain in the bum and I pushed her so her head bashed on the Pebbledash wall of the house. :-S.I told Mum that she did it on the concrete grass roller thing :-| :-|..I only told Janice a few years ago that it was really me that caused it .Her face was a picture lol

:-D :-D :-D :-D I got my keys back!!! :-D :-D :-D :-D
We had just about given up by 1.00pm and he arrived!! He had a magnet with him as he said he is building a spinning wheel........I couldn't see the connection either! lol. Anyway that didn't work, but he managed to unscrew and loosen the back bit of the floor (we'd only tried the front bit) to lift it enough to fish them out with a bit of a struggle. :-D I also got him to use his power screwdriver on the screws to get the front bit of the floor flat again so now it is good as new. The door to one of the cupboards had started to catch sometimes and he adjusted that as well which was brilliant. It only took him about 10mins so we were able to shoot off to the carvery as well. :-D :-D My first job will be to stuff a J cloth down there and put a bit of gaffer tape on top over the hole as well so it can't happen again!! Then I need to sort out what goes back in the cupboard. We have one of those stacking units in there to put shoes in and I think some could be thrown away as well as old dusters and how many feather dusters do I really need!!
Poor little Finley Maureen. He's just at the age for charging around playing without being too careful and they don't see any danger. The ambulance was slow as well wasn't it so it was a good job it wasn't more serious. Yes he will be showing off with his new scar!! lol Is it the house you were working on last year that you are doing the loft conversion in? I suppose the ceilings had to have an opening made for the extra stairs......more mess and dust for you to clear up. Still, it will be adding value and all be worth it when it's done. You'll be wielding the emulsion brush next!
Frank I think Grantham would be about 47 miles from here, it takes about 40mins for me to get there. It would be an easy run from your son's too so I bet it is where you went. The area is called Gonnerby Moor. I always think it's a good place to go to for wedding outfits as there is so much choice and at bargain prices, especially in the sales. :-) There's a huge selection of shoes, furniture, electrical stuff, pretty much everything.
How exciting Mandy.........a connection with your family and maybe some pics too!! Keep us posted !! I think when we go to the show we won't stand near where they go into the ring then!! Animals seem to know it is the way out and I don't fancy a tangle with a determined bull!! lol.
Mel it is good that the 'hogs' are still around. I never thought about a cat......one might have jumped on the bonnet....or maybe a fox.
Isn't that fire awful they think was caused by a chinese lantern. I've always thought they were dangerous and could land on a farmer's hay or someone's thatched roof.
I wonder if David's been given the green light today about the contraption....I hope so.
No rain here yet, so I'd better plant a few bits before it does!

Another Marathon to get on here. Got to page 1400 moved on to current page and got the ERROR NOTICE.
You just never know what children will do, do you?? I bet Findley was just playing happily along when he tripped. And wham it's happened.
Many years ago when my son (Simon) was about two or three. He had a little fire engine that he sat on and got pulled along on it. This day he decided to pull it to the top of the drive (SLOPE) and ride down. Yes he did, Smack bang into the bricks on the corner of the house Blood and hair everywhere. Three stitches at the A & E. Then when about seven he was out playing and came in crying that his arm hurt, I said don't be a baby and he went off to play again. ten minutes later he was back. I felt all around his arm, that was now very hot, and YES he had broken his arm.
Still a horrible day here. I am in my shorts watching Tennis, but think I might go and put on some long trousers. My legs are getting cold.
Jan is supposed to be calling over this afternoon. If she decides to stay for dinner, I think I have done enough Veg. and I'm sure there will be plenty on the Shanks. As they look very large.!!
Hope Ros won't be late coming home. cause I won't know what to talk to Jan about. I AM SO SHY. as you all know. !!
