Afternoon all,

We've had odd spells of sun this morning ,but it's now clouded over and we've just had a few spots of rain,i've been out in the garden doing a bit of weeding i think i'll know all about in the morning with my back !!!

Oh Maureen poor little Finley gashing his head like that ,and fancy the ambulance taking all that time to get to you .
There always seems to be a lot of blood from head wounds , when Chelsea cut her head just above her eyebrow ,the blood !! it was only a small cut to but it does panic you !!

Yes Ann, any sign of the man coming to fish your keys out !!
We loved the show ,seeing all the animals ,how they hold those Bulls back when they take them round in the ring i don't know ,once they start to go there's no stopping them !!
Right my next job is to wash out the wheelie bin , its only the black recyclable so it shouldn't be too bad .

Been raining here but only lightly, all day.

Done some ironing.

Here I am Mel :-D :-D :-D..I have been out and about this morning and thought it best not to turn on the potter before I went otherwise I would have never gone lol

Poot lIttle Finley :-0It sounded nasty Maureen, and what makes it seem worse is the amount of blood from a head wound !!!!!..That is far too long for the ambulance to get there especially for a child with a head injury :-S :-S.

Frank I don't know who does the fire surround.I have just ordered everything from Cole* Fires here in Kettering.

I wonder if Ann has got the keys now and managed to get out for the Carvery?

Right I'm going to watch Wimbledon now Tatty Bye for now.

Just popped in quickly to say hello and see what you are all up to. Got up especially early today to get the ironing done so now I can get over to son's and get my labourer's hat on again. We all had a real upset on Sunday, son was up in the loft but my daughter was over there and it was a lovely day so we were out in the garden, the boys were running around playing and Finley tripped and smashed his head on the side of the timber that is waiting to be cut for the loft conversion, blood everywhere from a really nasty gash in his forehead, can you believe the ambulance took nearly an hour to arrive, he was such a brave little boy, they managed to 'glue' it but it will leave a scar which no doubt he will be very proud to show off, it just makes you realise how easily and quickly accidents can happen, it was bad enough but it could have been a lot worse.

I must dash now, think I've got the day off tomorrow so will be back then.

orAfternoon all,

I gave up yesterday trying to get on here. This morning has been no better. But I persevered and BINGO here I am.

I watched the German girl put out Serrina Williams yesterday. She played out of her scull, and deserved to win. I see Andy had an easy rid, so fingers crossed. !!

I wasn't able to sit in the sun till 4.30 yesterday, I took my book out and it was quite nice for a while, then the clouds came over and that was it. :-( :-(

Bin men were very good and emptied 8 bags of cuttings, and left the bags under the wheelie bin so they wouldn't blow away. They went straight into the Black bin. I have hosed the green bin inside and out. Poured all the water down the street drain. So nice fresh bins for the next lot. !!

No chance of getting out in the garden to sunbathe today, very cloudy and a cool breeze. Looks like rain later. :-( :-(

Yes Mandy your OH is very handy. I could turn my hand to most things, from building dry stone walls, to carpentry, always done my own decorating and alterations around the house. But since my stroke, I have to rely on Harvey to do what I use to do.

Ann, How far is Grantham from you?? I seem to remember a few years ago Conrad and Jan took us to a large shopping/garden centre somewhere up that way. It might have been there. Do hope they are able to retrieve your keys, and that OH gets his finger out, so you can go for your carvery

IT'S STARTED TO RAIN !!

I know my neighbours lawn doesn't look too bad, but you must remember, I gave it a good going over a few weeks ago, and he has only cut it once since .
:-( :-( and there's me doing mine every week without fail.

Have prepared dinner for tonight. Lamb shanks, bought in a bag, ready to boil for half an hour, new potato's swede and parsnip mash, peas and baby carrots, and broad beans for Ros.

Jane who is making your fire surround ?? My brother was a stone mason, and made me a beautiful York stone fireplace when we moved shops. There is a stone mason I think, in Kettering.

Where's our Will and Carmel.. Hope are both well and there are no health problems with Carmel.

Pat, How are things with the Family ?? You know we are all good at listening is you need to let of steam. <3 <3 <3

Will try to get back later.

I am now getting the error notice, so don't know if this will go through BAH

I bet Frank is so stuffed full of cake he can't move!! Only joking as I know he dos'nt really like sweet things.

Better go and clean the bird baths out. I have done all the filling of feeders but one bath in empty and the other needs a scrub.

Saw a hedgehog last night but I think it is the same one going to three bowls of food and eating at each one. Shall have to cut down on the amount I put in each bowl I think. Also the amount of dried food scattered about.

Ann maybe a cat rubbed up against a wheel or something like that.

I have had an awful job to get to the last page again. Had to do 10 pages at atime and then increase a little and still got the Error page quite often. Taken about a quarter of an hour in all to get back to read Ann's post.

I wonder if others are having the same problem????????????????

No Frank which is unusual and no Jane which is even worse!!!!!!!! She nearly always manages to get on here by this time.

Mornin' All......

Dull and dreary here. :-S OH is back on fence painting and I'm waiting for the man who I hope will be able to get my keys for me. :-) I'm hoping he manages to get it done in time for us to go to the carvery, if not we'll go tomorrow. It would be great to get all the paraphernalia out of the lounge and back in the cupboard.

I'm seeing my sister in the next couple of weeks, so I'm sorting out any magazines I don't want to go with the pile of jigsaws I have for her. Instead of cutting out knitting patterns/recipes etc that I want I just scan and save them on the computer now. It saves storing them........even better I can always find them!! lol :-)

I noticed the farmer has put a 'Bull in Field' notice on the gate now......there has certainly been no dogwalking happening in there since the bull came!! OH said the farmer was in there for a while yesterday and was walking around not even looking at the bull, so he obviously knows he's quite placid.

Since seeing Mandy's post about her day out at a show, I think we may go to Ashby Show in a fortnight, we both love the bull and want to see some show animals including sheep or pigs. They are also having classes for Caspian ponies.

It was very odd last night as OH's car alarm suddenly went off in the early hours, but stopped again quite quickly??? It wasn't windy or anything and no sign of anyone about??

Morning All and Evening Kim,

We have a few spits and spots this morning. Grey skies but still warm.

I need to get some of my Cosmos in the border today. Hopefully they will give a nice bit of colour later when other things have finished flowering. That is if the bunnies don't eat them off or the slugs.

Just watching Long Lost Families (sob sob :-( )
Ann I think Channe* No5 is a pressie for me :-D :-D...It's Maureens favourite perfume too lol

We have a lost little Grouse .It has been sat on our fence crying out,and in the distance I can hear another .I hope they find each other soon otherwise I will be going to bed worrying(plus the noise will be keeping me awake :-S :-S ).For a little bird they certainly have a mouth on them !!!!
I did try and get the camera to get a snap of it on the fence but just as I was ready to click if flew off :-S

I've only just got back from Grantham to take the top back. It was beautiful driving through the Vale of Belvoir with the sun low and casting shadows.........a patchwork quilt of green and yellow fields. Then the sun was shining on the golden stone of Harlaxton Manor, one of my favourite buildings, like a fairy castle and with a fascinating history. I always smile when I see 'Lag Lane' and imagine it would be me 'lagging behind' as it looks quite steep.......I must drive down it sometime.

I didn't buy any clothes today, but got some perfume (it can be from 'you know who' for my birthday! ;-). lol I like fresh scents like Chanel No 5 and Eau de Cologne, so the assistant recommended Burberry Body and I had a sniff of it and loved it! I got just a small bottle for now as it wasn't cheap and sometimes I go off things. As I paid, she said there was an offer on at the moment of a cream jewellery case with it free. :-D I also got a rock plant from the garden centre there, a Bressingham Saponaria, which has a pretty pink flower. Another thing to plant tomorrow!

Yes, he probably would say that as well Frank,...... that was quick of you too!! lol. Your lovingly tended garden certainly stands out from the neighbour's ......it's neat as a pin! What a shame they didn't let Ros know about the baking! Poor communication seems rife these days. They are lucky to have her do so much as she does.

My first OH was always knocking lumps off himself doing DIY. Wood was his trade and he lost the end of a finger and a deeply cut a thumb in machinery, was always getting splinters in his fingers and, like you say, was always getting bits in his eyes and would have to go to A&E.

Jane, there was an email from the director when I got home.......he says he'll call late tomorrow morning......so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

OH didn't get fitted with his BP monitor today........something is broken so he has to wait till they get a new part. It's perhaps as well as he's gone to a meeting to do with his footie club again tonight. Things there are not good........at last week's meeting he had to push between 2 who were squaring up to each other, saying 'now then chaps', one was bandying insults at the other and it looked like fisticuffs!! I know one chap to be a well mannered, respected businessman.......not easily riled!! If it gets heated tonight, OH's BP would be rising I would think, so it's perhaps as well he's not wearing a monitor.

Done the shopping today. Thought I would give the Normandy Pork a try so bought the tarragon and creme fresh and dijon mustard as mine had gone a bit nasty but forgot the celery and shallots!! Silly bu**er I hear you say.

Snake still in place when I went up and watered the tunnel just a little nearer to my butternut.

Been a nice day here today warm with sun and clouds but turned a bit grey now.

That's good then Jane, a carpet that size would be a big expense .

Yes hubby can turn his hand to most things really ,we're lucky not having to pay for labour costs , even the plumbing will be a job for a job as the plumber has just moved house and needs some concreting done .

He's always cutting fingers or banging his head on some thing , he's had bits in his eyes and splinters in his fingers :-S i'am always stocking up his first aid tin in the van !!

Black clouds all gone now and it's a lovely sunny evening .

Jane

Jane Report 1 Jul 2013 20:09

Mandy ,the new hearth will fit into the space where this one is..so no new carpet .I don't think I could bare having 23ft of carpet pulled up and replaced. The carpet we have now still has a good number of years left in it .Just a good clean and it will be fine. :-D.Your OH is a Jack of all trades ,Cutting work tops to fit the sink !!!!.It must save you loads of money with him being able to turn his hand to everything.

My Dad was quite handy at doing DIY,but somehow he always ended up with a bash on the forehead .He always had a lump or gash :-S.I remember several times he came in holding his head and Mum rolling her eyes thinking 'What has he done now'
Chris is the same :-S :-SI always have plenty of plasters at hand :-D
Just going to join him outside for a drink before dishing up dinner.

Evening everyone,

Its been a nice sunny day here but it's now clouded up and some of the clouds are really black !!
You see , it will rain as i've just been out and watered :-S

Ann, that's very clever of OH coming up with the Bulldozer !! :-D and you too Frank with the Cowslip! ! :-D i had to smile .

Poor Ros ,making all those cakes and then being told they had bought some, that's a bit naughty after all it's not cheap buying all the ingredients for making cakes .

No point in doing any dusting Jane , your bound to get some dust from the knocking out , will you have to have new carpet ? or will the new hearth be fitted to the shape of the old hearth ?

Hubby saw the plumber this morning about taking out our old kitchen sink and fitting the new one ,he's coming friday week to take it out and then the saturday morning to plumb in the new one, which will give hubby time to cut the work top for the new sink.

Hubby still has plenty to do as he wants to emulsion the wall where the radiator goes so when the plumbers is here the rad can then go back on to save him coming again to do it.

I wonder how Shirl's getting on with her company there , hope she's having a good time.

Gosh it's so black out there now !!

Jane

Jane Report 1 Jul 2013 18:11

Any luck with the Key Man Ann??????..They are dragging their heels now :-S

My nose is like a tap this afternoon ,after being all bunged this morning. It's sniff sniff sniff :-S I never used to have this trouble with hay fever. We all have to take a anti histamine each day ,and sometimes James has to use a puffer.

My lounge is in desperate need of a good dustin and hoovering but there is no point at the moment .I shall wait until after the fireplace comes out on Wednesday.I was hoping to be able to spend the day outside then ,but now it looks like it might be raining :-S :-S
Oh the sun is coming out :-D well a glimpse of it.Oh yes it is getting brighter !!!!
I hope our William and Carmel are alright, also Pat and David.

Jane Report 1 Jul 2013 17:41

Poor Ros ,doing all that baking when it wasn't needed.I think she must have been really p***** off.I'm sure they will taste good though even if they might be a bit overcooked ;-)
I'm trying to get dinner ready and watch Andy Murray.Looks like it will be a long winded game, unless he is in too much pain.(looks like he was holding his side just now.
When I am in the kitchen I position the door in such a way I can see the TV in the glass :-D.Not quite the same as sitting down and watching though .
Not a lot of sun today .Popped it's head out a few times and then decided enough was enough for today :-S

I see Murray is 2 sets up now :-D

Frank your garden and lawn certainly puts your neighbours to shame ,but I thought it was going to look worse than that lol
You should see the front of next door here :-S :-S :-S.I daren't try a pic unless I can be absolutely no-one is at home. It's a blooming mess and affecting our garden now.
It is such a shame as Trevor who used to live there took real pride in the place.

Must check potatoes BB
