Afternoon All
I think you picked the right day for the beach Mandy. It's so good to live near enough for the children to be able to go and have fun in the sea and on the sand. There must be so many children who never get to see the sea.In Kettering at the moment for so many weeks they have turned the old Market place into a seaside with lots of sand ,and I think they might have those jets of water that shoot up to run in and out of.

It is raining YES RAINING here !! Proper rain ,not drizzle.,and what are we having for dinner ....BBQ again.Hopefully it will have stopped by this evening.I have ben to Waitr*** this morning and actually bought a couple of Mackerel. Not sure why really as I don't think we will like it lol.The chap did gut them for me but I think they still have their heads on and bones :-S.I have no idea how to cook them yet so will have to look it up.I think the Minted Lamb Steaks will go down a treat and sausages.

Mel why will the someone not be happy about the surprise party?
44 is very young to retire. Is that the age to retire in the Fire Service?Or is it like the police when you have to retire after so many years service?

I feel all wishy washy today, just yawn ,yawn yawn :-S.I'm sure it is just the weather we have been having, it just drains me.

Frank great emails this morning :-D :-D
Just going to look up how to BBQ these flipping Mackerel :-S

Morning Mandy and All and Evening Kim,

Cloudy and wet here today and it is raining but only lightly.

I have been so tired after a week out and about you don't realize you can't rush here there and everywhere as you get older........... :-(

Today we have a birthday party to go to in a village not far away. It is a surprize one and the person is not going to be pleased at all! It is at 3pm so I won't be around for a while.

I really can't beleive how things have grown in the tunnel in just a week. My marrows, courgettes, pumpkin and squashes are like triffids with huge leaves it's a job to get up the walkways. Must take a pic.

Girls I have had oh home for the last 16 years..................................................he was retired when I met him at the age of 44.

Morning everyone,Evening Kim,

Lovely bright sunny morning again, we decided we would go to the coast yesterday instead of today as it was going to be the better of the two days ,we went to Sea Palling instead of Brancaster, the tide was out the sea was so warm and the little ones loved it, they filled their buckets with tiny shells and pretty pebbles and had a paddle in the sea,.
From the car park it's only a short walk up a slope and down the other side and your on the beach, we sat watching the Jet Ski's on the sea ,they can really travel!!

Not going far today ,hubby is now grouting the tiles up in the kitchen then it will be more emulsion on the walls ,he's gradually getting there .

Going to make a coffee now and sit out .

Oh I miss that Sweet Pea smell Mel.......I didn't grow any this year. I used to put little posies of them about too.....lovely.

Yes, I am tolerant aren't I David.......!! :-) :-) and I did feel like the loser in a contest at times when we started to see each other and it wasn't very flattering, but he's followed the same team since he was 7 years old so it's quite a habit. He knows he is lucky to watch so many matches and there is some give and take as he never minds me doing things or taking me anywhere and would miss a match if I asked him. Also, as Jane says, it is good to be able to get on with things uninterrupted at times. ;-)

Trips out are good Jane. :-D :-D :-D ;-)

We just had another short, sharp shower , the second today. Off to bed now and it seems cooler tonight which is good.

I wonder how Pat is and how Kim is doing with her big tablets?

Jane

Jane Report 3 Aug 2013 20:20

Don't tempt me David.I'm sure you will love the little kitties as they get older :-D :-D
Chris is retiring at 60 as that is how his pension was set up.Full pension at 60.He could carry on if he chose to but has had enough with all the changes and continuing changes in the NHS.I think all GPs have had enough with all that. But if he carried on he would be burned out .Since he has reduced his days to 3 days and given up committees etc he has become a different person .Almost Human again :-D.The life of a GP and spouse can be extremely stressful, as I have experienced over the last 30 years.Time hopefully now to be able to chill. :-D :-D
Mel if ever I get down your way again I will certainly not miss you out :-D.I can quite easily see me taking a few little trips on my own.Have car ,will travel :-D ;-)
It still seems early but I am going up for a shower and hair wash .Im not going to dry my hair properly ,just blast it enough roughly with the drier .I will wet it again in the morning and dry it as it should be done.
So shutting down for tonight Night Night xx

BBQ was lovely David (and safe :-D)

You could always come down here Jane. :-D :-D :-D

I hav'nt really done anything today. Chris and Vic left about 1.30pm and I went up the shop and got the paper and some bits. Did a load of washing up and got our lunch and then sat trying to catch up on posts but you have been so busy writing great long posts it has taken me ages. Then oh wanted coffee after his sleep and cake of course.

I need to go and water the tunnel which has been rather neglected this past week except for watering most nights. I now have a mass of courgettes and marrows and short beans. Picked my first mauve pepper and need to pick the sweet peas as there are loads flowering.

Just as I was going back up there the heavens opened and we had a deluge accompanied by thunder and the rain was so heavy the telly could'nt pick up a signel as as soon as it stopped it came back on again.

Quite bright out there now so I may just go up the garden and have a water in the tunnel and pick the sweet peas and then I can smell them all night here in the kitchen. MMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

What if I put a kitten in each hand then?

No,they don't have names,nothing I could print on here.

Don't medical doctors practice for as long as they choose?
Sixty seems young to be retiring.

Take care near that BBQ

Jane

Jane Report 3 Aug 2013 16:16

David it was Frank who got spat with hot fat last night ....cooking Chips !!!!! and the fat boiled over the top of the cooker.
I have just cut up red, yellow and green peppers, big mushrooms ,Hallumi Cheese and red onion to go on skewers for the BBQ.That is my effort :-D.Chris just has the job of doing the Rib Eye Steaks.

Do you have names for the kittens ?.Put a kitten in my hand and I would be in love straight away.I remember as a child I had Peter ,a black cat.I think I was given him when I was about 4 by our next door neighbours..Miss jackson and Miss McFarlane .Two very butch ladies and wonderful friends .Peter used to sleep on the bottom of my bed every night until he passed away when I was at senior school.I loved the feel of the weight of him on my feet.it was very comforting.

Chris and I have just been sitting outside looking at the clouds and seeing images.
We have seen,a Poodle,Elephant,Camel,Shitzu (sp)? England and France. Not bad in 5 minutes :-D
I think Ann quite likes a bit of time to herself when OH goes off to Footie David :-D
;-)
If I thought Chris was interested in that I would saying "jolly good, off you go " :-D :-D
I think when he retires we will both need a bit of our own space.I'm quite happy if he wants to take himself off somewhere .He is actually doing that soon.Going to Suffolk for two nights, and he wouldn't mind if I wanted to go off somewhere without him.(I must make plans ;-))

The 'list' thing is a work habit Jane. I have 3 lists , things that are a priority, things that need doing soon and things that aren't urgent, but I don't want to forget . lol They don't always work, but I do think I get more done than by trying to remember everything!! The best thing about several lists is that as long as you do the main things on the important one, you can flit about with the other lists to suit your mood and it still gets things done and it is useful when you have a deadline!! Yes I do a holiday list as well, but manage to lose it before the next trip and have to do another!! There, that's another thing for the non urgent list, a mastercopy holiday list on the computer....... :-S ;-)

David, they do sound lovely, OH likes Tabbies with white on them as he had one once!! I'm sure you will find good homes for them if Ellen will let them go!!

Yes, that was about my hair colour then, but sometimes I used to put a non permanent rinse on it to even up the colour as the ends would go a lot lighter with the sun in summer. It would be about the time I started finding grey hairs to cover up as well. :-S

Fingers crossed for Katherine Fiona.........hope she gets an interview!

Off to the village now.........stirfry when OH gets home, he's at a match somewhere near Wolverhampton I think.

Missed you there Fiona.
Good luck to Katherine with her application. How frustrating for OH to run out of tape.
It's like running out of Sellotape at Christmas when wrapping all the presses !!!!!
That has happened so many times to me :-S

Just picked a lovely French Pointed cabbage, some Green Peppers and purple Chillies.Just waiting for the Runner Beans to pick. They are not growing quick enough for me .I want them now lol Must just be patient :-D

Happy Anniversary to you and OH Ann <3 <3.It must be the month for anniversaries. You ,Mel and my Sister.I think hers was a few days ago.

Yes I swear by those heat patches.Always have one in my handbag if we are away and doing a fair bit of walking.Slap it on and it helps so much.
I did an online advert in our local free paper some months ago .But when I looked (the week it was supposed to be in it wasn't there :-S.)Even though I had an email to say thanks for putting the advert in.I thought I must have done something wrong but if I had a response it must have been right.Good luck with yours.I think the allotment thing is brilliant .I have seen something on the tv about these for people with various mental health problems.
Do you stick to your list of jobs to do? I have done that before and it never worked for me lol.I make lists all the time especially before we go on holiday. It drives Chris nuts !!
I have Mint growing but one looks really bad ,almost like it is diseased .I actually bought a pot to put on my Kitchen window sill along with the Basil and Thyme.
It all smell so good when I water and spray them.
I just see it is only 2.30.Feels later than that.I just feel so tired today.Got no oomph ! :-S

Annx Report 3 Aug 2013 13:56

Fancy there not being a loo as you say Mel! I was getting to panic point last year at Bude, because the only toilets we could find were locked!!! Luckily we found the store halfway down the hill that had a restaurant and toilets too. They did nice jacket spuds too!! :-) Shame you missed the little train ride, the ones I've been on go quite slowly so even a short distance takes longer than you'd think. Maybe next time as you say. :-) That's a coincidence .........it is our 23rd anniversary of being an 'item' today!! :-D :-D <3

Well, you are a good hubby cleaning up Frank.........I think OH would have watched me do it till I pushed a cloth in his hand! It's hard stuff to get out of clothes though. I have a spray thing that stinks the house out. You use it just before the wash, but it doesn't always get it all out.

Jane, those weeks will fly by!! OH was interested right till he finished, but towards the end he said it was strange setting things in motion that he wouldn't be there to see through, but nice to know he wouldn't be dealing with the problems of some things that were in the pipeline!!! At least with Chris having that period of part time he won't need to wind down. lol. The Venice trip will be a good start for you both.

David, the little kittens must be very entertaining though.....they are sharpening their hunting skills on your leg!! You need some of those gaiters to wear on your legs when they are around or some cardboard tubes as they will ambush you when you aren't looking!! lol. If I were Ellen I would already want to keep them. Will you keep the mother cat after she is speyed?

I've just written me a jobs list to get done in the next fortnight......18 already!! :-S I got a few things put in the local paper free adverts this morning, you can do it all online now and attach photos as well which is good. We are trying to sort out and get rid of some more of the things we don't want any more. If the compost tumbler doesn't go quickly I'm giving it to the 'Place to Grow' allotment in the village. It is a community garden to go and relax and grow things (with help) for anyone with mental health issues like anxiety, depression, or learning or physical difficulties etc. I must check if I have any seeds I don't want and take those to them. They had a break in early in the year with lots of damage and things stolen, but local businesses chipped in to replace things which was good.

I grow about 5 different kinds of mint in pots outside along the front of the greenhouse. I've noticed that there are a few knee high, narrowish terracotta pots behind the shed not being used at the moment so I'm going to repot some of the mint into them. I won't have to bend to pick and weed the mint then and the nice waft of mint will be nearer my nose as I walk by.....win, win all round!! :-D :-D

I forgot to say yesterday that flipping the patio table over the day before and then the jetwashing set my back off something awful yesterday morning. I could hardly straighten up, but wanted to go out with OH, so despite the HEAT, I put one of those HOT patches on my back that Jane told me about. Well, it wasn't great having something heating me up even more.....but it did the trick!!

Jane

Jane Report 3 Aug 2013 12:57

David it is me having the BBQ,not Frank lol.Saying that it is Chris doing the cooking :-D
Oh little kittens claws are like needles at that age.I would love a cat but have seen too many killed on our road.So I wouldn't dare have one. When we moved into this house back in 1991 I did have a cat called Solo.Luckily she never ventured out the front.

Mel how disappointing for you yesterday, and so bad for the tea shop not to have a loo.I thought it was something they would be required to have :-S
Happy Anniversary for yesterday <3 <3

I have been to Te***,oh it aint have sticky out,I kept having to wipe my face :-S
The sun is shining but there are some big black clouds about. It would be nice to have a few showers just to help the garden .

David I must have missed you saying that you had a cat and kittens. What colour are they?If I was Ellen I wouldn't let them go :-D.Can you use your elbow crutch to keep the kittens away from your bad leg??
Chris is now cutting the lawn ,although there is n't much growth on it.

He said last night it is 7 weeks now until he retires !!!!!!,not that he is counting the days or anything lol.He says he has lost all interest now ,which I suppose is understandable.I still enjoy him working 3 days .That suits me fine :-D.At least when he does finish work the following week we will be off to Venice. Now that I AM looking forward to :-D :-D
Think I need to get changed into something a bit cooler.Shorts seems a good idea and a loose cotton top .

Happy Belated Anniversary Mel

Afternoon Everyone.

Sunny but very windy, Katherine popped in to print off a CV & cover letter for a job in BHS which she noticed yesterday, hope they like what they see and even give her an interview, :-D :-D

OH ordered some more special tape for finishing the green house glass off, he ordered on Thursday and it was in the post today, It was really annoying he only had 3 panes left to put in when he ran out of tape and no where sells it locally so he had to go back on line and reorder some. :-D :-D

Weather not really good for sitting out so I have been finishing off some ironing ,

It's about lunch time, think I will just pop a pizza in the oven ,

Morning All and Evening Kim,

Well what a let down yesterday was. We arrived at Hartland Abbey only to find out they don't open on a Friday Sunday or Monday so that threw us for a start. We went on to Hartland Point to have an ice cream and a walk. Chris wanted the loo and there were none there!!!!!!!!!!! Fancy having a tea place with no loo, I ask you and it's on the coastal trail where plenty of walkers pass by. We had an ice cream and then walked along a bit and spotted 6 seals in the water by a little beach you could'nt get down to. Vic did'nt think he could make the journey up to see the lighthouse and niether did I so we went back to Hartlad Quay and had a nice coffee there and a leak.

Came home via Holsworthy and bought kebabs for dinner and chips in the chippy as we don't like the ones in the kebab shop. I was so hungry I ate the lot and it was a huge chicken kebab they cook on skewers. Ended up with indigestion in the evening.

Never got to the steam railway as they decided not to go as it was only a 2 mile journey. I was very disappointed as it would have been soemwhere different to go. Still we should go at some point I think.

Yesterday was oh's and my 16th annerversary together. I don't know where that time has gone as it just seems like yesterday we were first together.

Must go up the tunnel now and have a look around and see what needs picking. There are a couple of marrows and some courgettes and short beans.

Be careful around that barbeque Frank, burns and scalds are always nasty, and painful, you may get blistered.

I didn't think you were were old enough Ann and Jane to be finished with thee night flushes.Doesn't seem long ago I was recommending Premique Cycle

I was very annoyed with those 2 new kittens earlier this morning.I was sat in shorts reading the newspaper and they were playing near my feet.
They scratched the bad leg ag had it bleeding.Theyv'e just turned 7 weeks old.
Does any one want a kitten or both?Another couple of weeks and Ellen won't part with them.Getting their mother speyed next week.

Morning all.

Felling a lot better this morning, even though I didn't sleep well.

When Ros was putting the cooled Oil into a jug, then into the bottle, THE JUG slipped and the oil went all over her top and trousers, onto the runner in front of the unit and the floor. I laughed, and said that oil has been cursed. Throw the Bloo##y stuff away.

She has said the only time we will have chips now will be with F & C from the chippie Bit drastic I think, so we will see. We only have them on occasions

House to myself this morning, she's out shopping with Martine.

I will pick more beans, dig a root of potato's and cut a cabbage for tomorrows dinner. which will be Roast leg of Lamb, as Harvey has tummy trouble with beef or pork. but he does eat a lot of veg. So I told Ros to get a selection of fresh veg.

Ann, I have re-assembled the cooker with rings and guards etc. All cooking utensils back in position .

Ros's top and trousers, were left in soak in one of het magic potions , but the stain was still there after washing this morning. So they are back in the wash.

How did we get onto the subject of "HOT FLUSHES" Being a YOUNG GUY, I am just starting to get mine :-) :-D :-D :-D

Time for breakfast and shower. See you later.

Hope things have calmed in your household Frank and that you have had a good sleep :-D.I take it you won't be doing any deep fat frying tonight ;-)
