Evening all
I am late today aren't I ! Better late than never :-D
I just feel worn out today (all to do with the heat I think).I did sleep like a log last night with the fan on double speed.
No thunder ,lightening or rain here at all today. But still a bit oppressive .

David I don't get the hormonal night sweats now thank goodness .

Fiona that was disappointing for you today finding the shop lacking in all the things you were hoping to see.But at least it wasn't a wasted trip.Nice new clothes for you both :-D

Mandy we had a week in Brancaster in a cottage back in 1987 when the children were little. We had a smashing time up until the very last night when I had a phone call from Mum to say that my Dad only had a couple of days to live.So we dashed back here the following morning and I had to leave the children with Chris and drive down to Plymouth .I had to drive the 2CV with the gear stick that came out from the front of the dash.Chris had to give me a quick lesson in it before I set off !.My heart was in my mouth the whole journey worrying about Dad and trying not to grate the gears each time I changed them !!!.By the time I arrived I had the Mother of all headaches :-S

Poor old Toby in that thunder storm :-( :-(.......I have to look after Meg again on Tuesday. She is such a lovely old thing, but the amount of hair that comes out.I have just hoovered up !!!

Heavens Frank ,that must have been upsetting for all the people at the surgery.I suppose the poor lady was in the right place though. You said she couldn't be revived. No doubt you will hear the outcome. It doesn't sound good though :-S

I just realised it is 6.30 so better go and get something sorted for dinner

Well it all happens round here. When Ros tried to walk into the Doctors, a woman was flat out on the floor just inside the door. She had collapsed . There were the doctors, nurses, receptionist's, Ambulance and paramedics. Ros's appointment together with everyone else's, was cancelled. Ros said they couldn't bring her round, and she didn't look at all well. I said "Well what would you expect her to look like" I won't say what the reply was. !!

Frank Report 2 Aug 2013 15:55

Cooler afternoon here now, Breeze still strong and temperature seems to have dropped a bit.

I knew you wouldn't come home empty handed Fiona. and OH treated himself as well. What a shame when you think you are going to see a good display of garden/greenhouse equipment, and end up seeing very little. Most people want to see what they are buying. I know if I want anything I try to see it first, then look on line for prices. But of course something's you don't have to see. to know what they are like. BAGS OF CEMENT ETC :-D :-D :-D

Well I never Mandy. We haven't seen any sign of rain, even though this morning look like it. Did you run around in it. ???

David that would be a better idea, to go in a wheelchair. A lot of bus's round this way have a kerb lowering devise on them, so you could just wheel on, and off the other end. You would need to check with the local depot, if they have them, and if they come near your home. The local care authorities might be able to help with transport as well. WORTH ASKING.

After I was married the first time. The in-laws had a beech hut at Felixstowe and during the summer we all spent a lot of time down there. They/we got to know a lot of people, and would play football, rounder's and any ball games on the beech when the tide was out

. When they sold the beech hut they bought a caravan. Which after my leaving the ex was good for the children's holidays with or without having their Mum with them

Ros is at the Dr's for diabetic check, will be back any time now. I can here her car. Here she is !!!

Well, we went to Glasgow to see this Greenhouse/shed place and it turned out to be a tiny pokey shop with 1 shed & 1 greenhouse, the Webb site looked great but was very misleading the fella said he took orders but didn't have the the actual merchandise in the shop for you to see or buy.
I have been looking on line for places that you can go & see Greenhouse shelving/ staging and be able to buy them there & then , but it seems that you can only buy these shelving units on line and get them delivered,

anyway on the way back we stopped off at a retail park where they had a M&S clearance shop and also a Next Clearance shop( FRANK purse opened :-D :-D, I got a couple of tops, OH got some jeans and a T.shirt, so the journey wasn't a waste after all :-D :-D :-

Forget the coach Frank, you'll need a boat !! goodness we have had a corker of a storm ,thunder and lightning right over head and heavy rain too, poor old Toby ,there was an almighty crack and he came running to me scared to death .

Brightened up now with a little sun

Frank, we've had no end of fun on Brancaster beach , there use to be a whole crowd of us go when son was small, we would start off calling in at The Ship for a pint then on to the beach for the day ,then back to The Ship for a nightcap on the way home !! :-D

So the coast is not to far from you then David ,would Ellen be able to push you in a wheel chair ? then you could be wheeled onto the bus ,it would get you out , i think you use to be able to hire wheel chairs from the Red Cross or maybe your doctor would help ,i know you want to be on your feet but it might be a bit too much for you to be on your feet all that time .

Still muggy now the storm has gone over ,sitting here with the fan on .

David

David Report 2 Aug 2013 13:40

Well Frank I feel confident I could get on a bus or the Metro which runs to the coast.Ellens not so sure.
She wants me to be much better on my pins before I go anywhere out side this bungalow.

River Tyne is about 6 miles from here, the seaside? well the nearest would be perhaps Whitley Bay or Tynemouth. They are about 12 miles from here.

When I was a child living in Portland Road I could sometimes hear the fog horns of ships in the river.

My grandfathers worked on the Tyne as rivermen.

Frank

Frank Report 2 Aug 2013 13:07

Oh Mandy you have bought back memories for me. We use to fish out of Brancaster. We would sail out on the tide and nor be able to get back till the tide was full again. We would catch SKATE, smooth hounds, Tope place, dabs, and varios other species. Most would go into our cold box's to go home for the freezer. Thanks for mentioning it !!

I slept in the noddy last night on top of the sheet. I don't think I had to pull the covers up all night.

The sky has cleared now, and the sun is shining, so could be a warm one later. The wind is still blowing, and a bit of shade is starting to appear, so you know where I will be soon.

Ros gets in a right old huff at these people that fuff around at the checkouts. She mutters under her breath, "why can't you have your card/cash ready to pay" I'm sure someone will hear her one day :-D :-D

Where's the BED LADY today, not lying around in the furniture shop I hope. ??

David, Would you be able to get on a bus with your crutches ??? If you have a bus pass, you could have a day out at the sea, and not cost you anything. THINK ABOUT IT. It would be nice for Ellen also. BUT don't jump of the pier !!! Howe far is the coast from you.

We are unlucky, that the coast is so far away from us. We should hire a coach, and go and collect everybody who lives in the middle of the Country, and drop in on MANDY for the day. That would be a surprise for her. There would be Ann, Jane, Will ,Maureen, me and uncle tom cobbly and all.

Off to get a bite to eat, and another cold drink.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 2 Aug 2013 11:08

Oh Frank, it's nice to know Shirl's ok i did wonder how things were going.

Ann, i think it might be Brancaster beach this sunday , depending on the tides , if the tide is high the road down to the beach floods and you can get stuck on the car park till the tide goes down , i think it's more the spring tides that you get the floods but we don't like to chance it if its coming in we'll have to check first.
Nice sandy beach there with a shallow bit for the children to play in if the tides out, when it is out it's a long walk out to the sea ,hubby has done it and there's also a ship wreck that you can swim round and see the fish !!

Oh better turn this off ,there was heck of a flash just now :-S

Morning all, evening Kim,

What a muggy night ,so hard to sleep even poor Toby was panting in the night ,i came down and got the fan for him , there i was one o'clock in the morning humping a big fan up the stairs ,it's one on a tall stand, what a job !! ,what was hubby doing snoring away !!
We have a window both ends of the bedroom and we usually get a nice breeze blow through ,but not last night .

Bit stormy now ,the thunder keeps rumbling round and we've had a few heavy showers too.

What a catch for your OH Mel,and the dog had a good feast then too:-D :-D LOL
Enjoy your paddle in the sea ,i think it makes your feet feel lovely after ,like walking on air !!

Fiona, it's funny how the children go through stages wanting to be with mum ,Chelsea was like that for a while ,she wouldn't stay, always wanted to go with her mum.

I have a stack of ironing to do, i keep putting it off as it's been so hot ,will have to do a little today i think .

Annx Report 2 Aug 2013 10:53

Morning All,

Well, it was a scorcher yesterday.......the car showed 34 degrees when I went to the shops last night. I must have picked the slowest checkout queue in the world, just when I wanted to be quick. Why when they know they'll need their specs on do some people wait until they are ready to pay before they start to rummage in their bag for them? Then rummaging for their purse. There's me standing behind them with backache wanting to get home and my credit card already in my hand. Hmmmm. :-S

Jane, do you lay your towel under you on the bed when you are sopping......I do that sometimes. I was so hot last night I had to get up and splash my face and top with water. I seemed to feel a bit better then, but Plan B was a cool shower next and iced water to drink! As it was I seemed to wake up every hour. Thank goodness it's cooler this morning.

Fiona, those big plastic potting trays you can stand on the greenhouse shelves are very useful in the greenhouse for potting up plants and trays of seeds etc. If it's too hot in the greenhouse you can carry them outside to use as well. This is the sort of thing in case your OH is interested and hasn't seen them. They keep the mess in one place.

Sofia sounds like she might be missing her mum Fiona. She might not know what is wrong herself and just be missing being with her. It sounds like her trip to the hairdressers must have been quite boring though, so she may not be as keen to do that again! You are very sensitive to little one's feelings which is lovely.

Mandy, I don't know how you stood that heat!! I woult have needed wringing out I think. Still, you did get the chairs you wanted!! The seaside on Sunday sounds good.....any particular place.........you have quite a choice within easy distance?

Maureen, I've noticed Northolt keeps cropping up as the hottest spot! I watched Nigel Havers too and enjoyed it. It was interesting about the mill and it still being there!! Sad in some ways too, imagine a quarter of all children dying before age 5!!

Frank, thanks for that.....I like the sound of the puzzle board Ros has.......will look in Ho*bycraft next time I go.

Mel, is out and about lately.......Her OH will remember that 'catch' for a long time! The dog did well grabbing himself a snack. Have another good day Mel, it's nice to go out and have a change.....you come back refreshed.

We heard from our fuel supplier too.....the previous supplier gave the new supplier the old gas meter number (before it was replaced) last july when we changed over to them!! They say it will take 4 weeks to sort out. Gawd knows what the proper usage should be!! Now we wonder which meter the previous supplier was charging us for as well!! More digging out of old bills, but I'm not sure OH keeps these things as long as I did.

Better get showered now........he will be back from the city soon and wanting me to be ready to go out. :-)

Morning and Evening all,

I have the sneezes TEN times so far, and more to come. My head is full of them, Nose running as are my eyes. Gone all un-necessary now. feels weird. :-D :-D

Was up twice in the night with the dreaded CRAMP. down the right leg at the front of the shin. After a walk around it went off, came back an hour or so later.

I was up by 7.00 am Glad to get out into the lounge and open all doors and windows. Different day entirely from yesterday, Very windy and overcast. I expect we will have rain later.

Fiona, Keep that purse done up ;-) ;-) You know what you women are when you go looking for things, end up buying more than you bargained for. !! I bet Victoria is use to Sophia and her little moods, Nice that it gave you a break for a while. I bet those two keep you busy Bless 'em.

Mel seems to be having a good week with her company. Will do her good, to get away from all that work that her and OH do all the time. ENJOY. <3 <3 <3 I bet it was hot in and out of shops, your OH had the right idea, sitting beside a lake fishing.

I do miss going fishing, but since my stroke, I lost all interest, and am frightened to death of going to close to water. One of my old fishing pals has offered to take me, and to TIE me to a tree so that I can't fall in. Don't fancy that somehow. !!

Jane, How can you DRIP DRY in bed. Don't you make the sheets all wet ?? then they will stick to your body. :-( :-( :-( Why not run around the garden to dry off, like a DOG DOES :-D :-D :-D :-D :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) :-S :-S :-S :-S What would Chris and the neighbours think ??

I was on SKYPE for half hour last night to Shirl. We had a good laugh and a chat. Ros joined in in the background.. Things seemed alright over her side of the world. HOW'S RUBY. ???

Bathroom out of bounds for next couple of hours. Madam is washing hair and showering and doing things, you women do.. ;-) ;-) ;-) :-

Maureen, Don't tell Jane that. !! she will clear up on the EURO MILLIONS, & the lottery this weekend, then she will be off to all these exotic places, and we would never hear from her, and if that happened. WHO could I have a go AT :-D :-D

Harvey will be up for Dinner Sunday. He will drive down to France next Saturday for three weeks, then bring the family back, ready for Lewis to go back to school.

We connected up with Julia Harvey and ourselves on SKYPE last night. A three way chat. We try to do it will Jan and Conrad sometimes.

Coffee time, behave yourselves today, whatever you do !!

Morning Everyone. Evening Kim.

Well what a fuss we had with Sofia yesterday, she ended up going with her mum to the hairdressers . she did.not want to stay with us, we expected a phone call from Victoria , Sofia is getting fed up , but no she stayed there for 3 hours while Victoria got her hair done, just sat on the big couch and looked at her book and did some colouring ins,
I am thinking with all this eye patch and now the hairdresser episode, she is feeling a bit unhappy at mum working all weekend and being left with her dad, but she does have daughter all week, also when we have Matteo to look after she does not have all our attention, :-S we went to the garden centre anyway but OH did not get what he wanted, so we are off to The Barra's today which is an indoor and outdoor market in Glasgow seemingly there is a good shed and green house area, Looking for some green house shelves and perhaps a planting station and anything else that catches our eye.

Morning Al an dEvening Kim,

Did'nt get a chance to get on here yesterday.

Wednesday the boys went off to Bude fishing all day. BIL went with various baits, luncheon meat, maggots etc. Oh just took a couple of nobbies of bread and a slice or two. Oh caught a carp about 7lbs but Vic did'nt!!!! They had a crowd round them as oh was landing it and someones dog got in amonst Vic's fishing gear and ate his meat and the owner let it!! :-| :-| :-|

Chrissy and I went to Rosemoor and had a smashing day just meandering about at our own pace. Spent about an hour in the shop.

Yesterday we went to Boscastle again but oh stayed at home and did cleaning of the pond filters. Another great day out, lemon crush icecream and nice coffee and cake in the Nat. Trust tea shop afer a good look around that.

Today we are off to Hartland Abbey to look at the gardens and walk down to the beach so I may get another paddle in the sea.

Jane

Jane Report 1 Aug 2013 22:15

34 !!!!! Maureen it feels hotter here lol.
We have just finished eating outside and I walked back into the house and it's like a blooming sauna :-S
I have refused to do any dishes as I am going to go and have a nice cool shower and then get into bed and drip dry.If I use a towel the effort will make me all sweaty again .
I am using my Spanish fan to help keep me cool .Much more effective than the electric one.Trouble is I won't be able to flap that all night :-S.
I too enjoyed Nigel Havers last night and really enjoyed it. I know he has a bit of a reputation ,but I quite warmed to him

:-D

Off now to try and cool off a bit. Night Night x

Maureen Report 1 Aug 2013 21:22

It's showing 34 degrees for Northolt today. They always pinpoint Northolt because of the RAF Station even though it is actually in Ruislip.

Forgot to mention Nigel Havers WDYTYA, he is back in my good books again after his little tantrum and walking off I'm a Celebrity. His ancestors weren't that interesting but he is such a charmer it was worth watching just for him.

Don't think we'll be getting much sleep tonight.

Maureen

Maureen Report 1 Aug 2013 21:08

Phew don't know if it's the heat or the grandchildren that have worn me out, have been over to sons and daughter was there too with Harry and Chloe it was nice to get back home to a quiet house. Daughter-i-l made us all a nice dinner though so no cooking for me tonight.

Jane you should buy another lottery ticket if you've won twice already they say things come in threes.

Haven't opened emails yet so am looking forward to your photos Ruby, the worse thing here for chomping through plants are the slugs and snails. I was sitting down at the end of the garden yesterday and a beautiful butterfly landed on my top, it was a flowery top so perhaps it got confused, I've forgotten what daughter said it was called I think Peacock something.

Why do these terrible things keep happening to helpless innocent children, they said both teachers and hospital staff saw the warning signs why didn't they do something, baby P all over again. That woman should be sterilised, she doesn't deserve to have children but of course that would infringe on her human rights what about the human rights of that poor little boy.

So glad to see you are up and about David, it's been a long old process but you'll get there. A little walk around the garden might help and don't forget ....... walls are for sitting on, not jumping over ....... ;-)

Frank Report 1 Aug 2013 21:02

Whow it's HOT HOT HOT.

I came in from the garden to get dinner. Fresh pasta filled with different French cheeses . Bacon, mushroom and onions cut very small in olive oil. Transferred the pasta to frying pan, and squirted half a bottle of mayo. into it. Very tasty and filling. Neither of us could finish it.

Ann, Ros hasn't got or tried a roll up thingy for jigsaws. The one she has got is like Artists use to carry their portfolio's in. It's 32" long by 22" wide and quite thin, so when you zip it up the pieces don't move about.. she says you can get them in HOBBY CRAFT. But look on Argos website, they may have them there.

I have been sitting out on the patio and bumble bees have been landing on the "BOTTLE BRUSH" for nectar. I think they have exhausted their supply from other plants. Have taken a couple of photo's Will see if I can forward them later

Time for another cold beer.

Stay cool dudes, and I will see you in the morning..

When hubby came home we quickly popped out to the caravan sales place as we wanted to get a couple of new folding chairs to use on the beach ,i had a quick look this morning and found some i thought would be ok but wanted hubby to see them first ,it was lovely and cool in the store on the ground floor as they had the air con on ,but we had to go upstairs to look at the chairs and the air con had packed up up there ,well the sweat was running down my face !! it was so hot ,we came home with two new chairs and the lady gave us some discount ,i think it was because of the heat up there !! she kept saying i'am so sorry about the heat !!
We're hoping to go to the beach with the family again on sunday ,looks like it should be a nice day .

Yes Frank, i know it's old age !! :-D just stop reminding me :-D :-D :-D :-D
That's a drop from £340 to £63 !! where's the rest gone ??

Gosh Ann, you must have been hot doing the jet washing in the heat , i think i would have sprayed hard to get some cooling spray over me !! :-D

Jane, i couldn't be doing with having the oven on in this heat ,it's been salad again for us for tonight .
It's been windy here too ,i sat out after getting the washing in and the brolly blew over ...i've never seen poor old Toby move so quick :-D he looked at me as if it was my fault!! :-D

Will have to water well tonight the poor plants in the hanging baskets are looking a bit sad ,and i've been giving them a good soaking too.
