Good day all, up earlyish doing repeat prescriptions on-line.
What a night, hot and sticky going to bed, then I think there seemed to be TWO thunderstorms doing the rounds. Rain bashing down, lightning - and all because some couple had a baby!!! :-D
Carmel watched her soaps last night and I went down at 9pm to watch Long Lost Family - forget it, they milked the new arrival dry and kept repeating things, scenes, all a bit overkill in my mind. Yes, all very nice, but then you got it all again on the 10pm news. Carmel tells me I should lap it up, it's history, I should be proud to have a Royal family. For an Irish woman she's far more royalist than me.
OK, enough ranting, I'm off down the bookies to put a tenner on it being named Kevin!!! :-D
Frank, don't worry about the shed, there's a lot of holes in it and the beers on 'draught' :-0

Still hot!! We have just been sitting outside watching the sheet lightning over the city. Very dark clouds and a few small spots of rain, but I think it will miss us. :-S A little bat was flitting about, not too close though.
Meant to say I love Ted's 'new' dungarees William and that was a good word to describe the heat....'furnace'. OH's baseball cap was sodden when he finished the painting.
Off to bed now, don't think it will be a restful night in this stuffiness......nightie night.

Gosh it is still hot here but it did cloud over this evening and got dark quicker. Oh and I were out in the garden about 9.30pm moving the house and run of the bantam and chicks just after I put the hedgehog food out. I went back to put chick crumbs in for them and on the way back a hedgehog came from under the lower decking saw me and stopped dead still. I called oh and he came out and we watched him together from the upper deck. I have the camera out tonight because we wanted to see if he came from under the decking but with seeing him we know he did!!
Frank I will have a look to see what the stuff was called as the pot was on the table by the back door but he has moved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
O I have just found a bigger pot he bought and it is called Blanket Answer by Cloverleaf. Have a look here.......www.cloverleaf.uk.net

Ann ,Chris is always moaning about me disturbing him at night( I think it is the other way around ;-) ).I.m sure he will be trying to bundle me off to the new bed when we get it lol.Why me??? He could shuffle off if he is that bothered :-D :-D I see the Royal Baby has arrived.they are certainly going to town on it on tv.That's good but it is all going over the same things again and again and it gets a bit too much to bare .I'm very happy for William and Kate that they now have their baby, they will be all over the place emotionally for the next few days...I remember it well with Hannah.Chris was like he was on drugs for a week lol .High as a bl**** kite (not with it at all ) off in cuckoo land .
The sky is getting really black now ,and Chris is going to turn off the Modem so the computers don't get messed up if there should be any power failure. So I will say Night Night now before he flicks the switch. I'm off for a cool shower .

Oh my it's HOT. So much for my shower earlier. I feel like a lump of lard. !!! Have been out and watered the greenhouse. The clouds are building, so I didn't do the rest of the garden. I will be cross if it don't rain :-( :-( Slight breeze getting up, so we will have to see.
Boozing in the shed Will, what the devil next. You had better put your foot down or the neighbours will be complaining :-D :-D :-D OR JOINING IN :-D :-D
Mel, I would like to know what you used in your pond. Could you pm me or send an Email. Thanks. Your knee sounds a bit like mine, you never know when it's going to let you down. Does yours lock up at the back of the knee ?? I nearly went for a "Ball of chalk" down the garden when I tripped down the patio steps this afternoon.
Gave up trying to sit out, those thunder flies and midges are everywhere. Got bitten under the arm pit this afternoon, and round my ankle again.
Poor old Toby. It does seem a shame that they can't tell you when they are uncomfortable in the heat. But they always seem to find a place where they are out of it.
No Jane, Nothing to report on the Holiday front. With Conrad in Spain, I suppose we can always pop over there, but Ros hates the heat.
I'm off to the patio with a cold beer, anyone want to join me ???

Ah, a new double bed Jane! YOU will be able to stretch out in it too! You might want to 'move in'. ;-) Just think, the fan could be going full blast.....window wide open, reading to your heart's content.....
I forgot to say that we have had seperate bedrooms ever since we moved in together. When OH stayed over at times before that, we couldn't get a good night's sleep, he fidgetted and flung the clothes about and I am a light sleeper and then the hot flushes.......me too hot, him not!! Plus the early hours he got up for work!! We set up our 2 bedrooms here with double beds, our own tvs, reading lights and things about. We often share to watch a tv prog, a natter etc, but find we sleep best in our own bed. What nonsense it is that people think it is odd or weird or that a marriage is on the rocks if they don't share a marital bed. OH says it was always the poor that shared bedrooms, the rich always had their own bedrooms, as does the Queen!! ;-) Mind you, I'm sure MIL would think it odd, but then I'm sure she thinks it strange that I as a woman go out without my husband even in the daytime!!! lol. She's always questioning OH about what I'm doing when he calls to pick FIL up for footie and doesn't know what to say when he says he's no idea!!! It doesn't fit with what she thinks is right and proper behaviour for a wife!! lol. MIL would NEVER been seen in trousers either.......whatever must she make of me!
The skies gone black here now, but the air is so still and oppressive. OH is wheeling the bins out......he thinks there will be a storm.

Jane, Edward Bear has only just arrived and had his new dungarees and already he's getting the other creatures into mischief ! I'll have to keep an eye on him, I don't think my shed has got a licence for alcohol :-D
I got out in the garden this morning doing different jobs while it was a bit cloudy and cooler. Good job I did, it's like a furnace out there now. I was up to my neck in doing some new planters, glove all covered in compost when the phone rang inside. Carmel told me I was quicker and nearer than her, and to get the call. I didn't even have time to take the gloves off and there was compost bits all over the sideboard. Luckily it was a mate of mine, I so I was excused.

Oh Mandy, I can just imagine you saying 'less of your lip'. lol It must be painful though and not easy to put anything on it without tasting it. I bet Toby has been flopped out in the shade today. Does he like the pool, or is he a bit too old for that? That's a good idea to shade your cucumber.....ours looks a bit wilted today so I've given it more water.
Frank that's even worse finding that you were paying 2 companies at once! I've just done a check of the online fuel bills and see we've been with this company for 12 months. The last bill is a 12 month statement showing the gas as estimated (despite us giving readings each time) and the total electricity. We did have a new meter ages ago, so maybe they have carried on with that!! I don't think we will owe much if we do, it all depends when we had the new meter fitted. The daft thing is, if they bothered to come and READ the meter, they would have soon found the error!! The meters are all on the outside walls, so can be read any time. I have noticed a link where you can complain, but will await the outcome first. ;-)
Frank you were a little devil when you were young!! You make Lewis seem like an 'angel'!! lol
Mel, we have gas fired central heating and a gas hob on the cooker. There is also a hole in the wall gas fire in the lounge......not used yet, but there in case of power cuts stopping the central heating pump working. I know just what you mean about 'cornering' in the supermarket with a trolley and dodgy knee.....it really makes them twinge worse!! Mine have been quite sore since I did the rocks, couldn't get them comfy in bed last night. I hope yours soon improves again. It's a nuisance when you want to get on with things and your body won't let you!!
The stirfry was delish. I added some of our french beans and mangetout. Then I nipped to the co-*p in the village to post a letter. OH came out to the car with me and I told him the gearknob (metal) would be boiling hot. He reached across to test it and yelped and let go quick!! I bet he'd thought I was exagerating......he doesn't any more though!!! :-D :-D ;-) I drove with a cloth over it. I wanted some jelly to make but the shelf was empty so I came back with a nice trifle instead. :-)
Fiona I had a chuckle at the thought of your daughter sharing her sarnies. I bet the bunnies were really keen on the salad in them!! :-)
No sign of any storms yet........could do with the rain now OH has got the waterbutts back in place.

Poor old Toby Mandy.Has he got a fan to lie beside? When Chester was here I put one on the floor just for him .I feel very sorry for any animal and the birds in this heat. There will be millions suffering :-S.Iput an extra bowl of water down te bottom of the garden for the birds today. Picked the first Green Pepper today.I couldn't wait until it got any bigger and had it at lunch time.It was lovely and crispy and tasty. The Chillies are coming on a treat too.But I hate them with a passion.James is the Chilli lover in this house. I really really hope we don't have thunder storms tonight. If we do bet the power will go off.I have got plenty of candles ready at hand just in case.I just want the fans to keep going !!!
Frank that will be a nice little extra to put in the pot.Have you thought anymore about having that holiday you were thinking about?
Chris spotted a little Black and White cat yesterday twice in the garden. He said it appeared from once side and trotted across to the other and vanished then later it came back and went the same way it came.I don't know anyone down here with a cat like that.I want to see it as I love cats .As long as it doesn't start coming here just to do poops !!
Fitz is going to have Hannah's single bed with the pull out guest bed.I'm so pleased ,as it saves me advertising it.Then I will get a double to go in there.I think with Chris's help he will take it at the weekend. Two reasons why I want a double.1 it will be easier for me as it will just be one duvet and sheet to do and no heaving out the bed underneath each time, and 2 much nicer for Hannah and John when they stay.Or any couples who might stay.I think this coming weekend just for 1 night Mark will be coming to see us.(He is Rachel's Brother). On the 2nd August he and his wife will be moving out to Washington for 4 years. He will be working at the British Embassy.I quite fancy a holiday in the USA
:-D.This is the couple we went to visit in Tokyo when they were there for 4 years. I think I will be giving S Africa a miss on the holiday front to see his sister.lol In fact I can't imagine anyone wanting to go and visit Rachel and her OH with all the dramas going on in their lives. I think I am rabbiting now so will go and stir this casserole.

Been shopping and brought back pasties for lunch, some brie, grapes and biscuits. Made a nice change.
I pushed my own trolley and I have the biggest one! Round the first isle my knee gave me quite a pain to which I yell Ooooo and the lady behind me asked if she had hit me with her trolly. I did twll her I had a bad knee and it was'nt her fault! :-D :-D but so nice to have someone mention they hit you even if they did'nt because if someone does they don't usually say a blimmin thing.
It is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hot here today even with the fan going. I hav'nt done anything except put the shopping away and make myself a cuppa after lunch.
I dread to think what the tunnel is going to look like when I go up to water soon.
Chicken curry for us tonight, nice and easy with a tin of sauce, a pack of mini chicken fillets and some rice. Forgot the pompadoms!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just looked in the cupboard and I have a pack so thats alright then........
Frank we get duck weed on my pond that has all the plants in it. Oh bought some stuff off the web for the treatment of blanketweed which seems to have stopped the duckweed growing. We only have a little now and it shoudl be rife by now. It is a white powder you mix with water and makes the pond cloudy for a while but dos'nt affect fish in any way. It certainly cleared the blanket weed.

Ann, I do hope it's a rebate you that you get.
I found out this morning, when the Bank Statement arrived, that I have been paying TWO companies for G and E. I contacted the one that I had changed from, and find they owe me £340. odd They are sending a cheque. I was sure I had cancelled my D/D. So it pays to check the statement now and again. which I must admit I don't do every month. NAUGHTY BOY I hear someone say. Mention no names.!!

Mandy the Thunder flies are ones that you can hardly see but they tickle the skin like crazy.Often they get in behind the glass in picture/photo frames :-S :-S.Blasted nuisance .
William I like the Ted Shed lol
Hows that knee this afternoon Mel? Did you get someone to help with the trolley?
Hannah says they have had a couple of quakes this morning !!! obviously not anything to worry about. They set off for the airport sometime this evening.
Oh er missus who's OH been kissng then Mandy ;-).That must be very uncomfortable to have a bite like that on the lip. He's not having much luck is he. :-( I have managed to get more peas but the heat is so bad I just to get back indoors.
My Normandy Pork is back in the oven to get a real good blasting through before I put those last bits in.I still can't believe I left it outside all night :-S :-S

You cheeky little madam Mandy. I thought you had given him a back hander :-D :-D :-D
When Lewis was up he liked to net all the "DUCK WEED" and rather than put it in a bag. He put it in the waterfall now that the pump is off. So I have been down there this afternoon emptying the waterfall into the barrow. And jet washing the waterfall. I am plastered with duckweed. I have put the pump on for a while to let it freshen the water for the frogs and newts. The fish all died last year as I previously mentioned.
I have found a treatment on the www. that they say will disperse and kill duckweed. When I contacted them for a guarantee that it would work. they said follow the instructions on the bottle. AT £14.95 plus P & P. I want a money back G'tee. that they don't give, so didn't buy it.
I'm off for another shower, and a change of shorts.

Jane you just took the words out of my mouth.
I though AH a bit of shade under the cherry tree. so took my book and sat in the lounger. After 10 minutes I was being pestered to death by the little blighters, so have come in doors. I think I could be ready for another shower. itch itch itch, scratch scratch scratch.
It is certainly the sign of a thunder storm, why does that happen ?? Ros was only saying yesterday "We haven't had any thunder flies yet" Why can't she keep her mouth shut :-D :-D :-D
Mandy, Ros changed the bed this morning and washed all the whites. They have only been out an Hour, and they are dry as a bone. If I put a magnifying glass on them, they would catch fire. !! What a good idea to give the cues a bit of a break from the sun. I remember as kids, we would get hold of "KIDS" who wanted to join our gang, and put a magnifying glass to the back of their hand till they YELLED and it started to burn, then they could JOIN.!!! What horrible children we were in those days. I bet kids today still have torture for other children. Do you remember the "CHINESE BURN" Lewis still tries to do it to me. Another one was to put your arms through railings and bend your arms across your chest., drop candle wax onto the back of the legs. (THAT HURT) :-0 :-0 :-0
Well I think it's an afternoon in doors for me. Roll on the rain. !!

Afternoon All,
Well, we thought we were in for nice quiet mornings now the dog nextdoor has gone for his hols and sitting out with peace and quiet in the garden. But now the builders have started building in ernest in the field. They've been doing bits and bobs with drains for ages but it was never before 8.00am. The last few days they have started at 7.00am with big noisy pile drivers thumping away. :-S I suppose that's how it will be from now on.
I was at M*S before 9.00am this morning, before the queue for returns built up. By the time I left the cars were streaming in.
OH was painting the rest of the shed when I got back so I made us some nice crusty french bread bacon butties!! We sat outside eating them and the Buzzards were circling over the field.
Waitrose Frank, that was a bit cheeky of her ........we occasionally buy a few things from there as we have one about 2 miles away, but they are pricey for everyday stuff.
Got your pics Jane, some more lovely memories for Hannah and John. Those clothes the people are wearing are so colourful, surely not 'everyday' wear.
We have just discovered our gas people have been using the wrong meter number for us and so have not been using the meter readings we have sent . I had to send photos of the meter and reading and now it has to go to their Investigation Dept!! :-S I just hope whoever's gas we were paying for was using more than us so we get a refund!! :-) If not, I shall be :-(.
Gawd Kim, that's a lot of pill to swallow!!
