Mel Fairy Godmother Report 22 Jul 2013 10:31

It is getting really hot here. Just opened up the ends of the tunnel and picked a few sweet peas but all the butternut squashes are wilting and I dare not water them till tonight. My Gardeners Delight toms are red underneath and yellowy on the top. Think I shall have to give them a strong feed.
My runners are flowering like mad but no beans yet. Perhaps it is just too hot for them in there this year..........................................the flowers keep falling off.

Morning Everyone, Evening Kim

Totally cloudy today and a lot cooler too, done half the ironing, will have my coffee then tackle the other half, mainly T shirts, for OH and tops and skirt, and dress and a couple of linen trousers for me. nice to see them all hung back in the wardrobe.

Jane I had a piece of beef in the oven & by the time we ate it it was cold but it was good with salad and new pots for adults ,peas and new pots for Sofia, she is like her Aunty Katherine at the same age won't eat salad, but her mama loved salad sandwiches :-S :-S when she was little, Victoria would share here sandwiches with her pet rabbits Peter Rabbit & Benjamin Bunny :-D :-D. we had blueberry flan to follow

Need to pick the blackberries today, they will all drop he we leave them any later. not as big this year as others, they could do with a good drink of rain(, never happy with the weather are we ;-) ;-))

Jane looked out of breakfast room window this morning and there was another mouse sitting on the flagstones, (Glad I was in the house ,so I didn't scream or run,) a huge bird came down and chased it into the bushes, I thought it was a bit daring of the mouse to come out in the open :-D :-D

Morning/Evening All

I have been up for hours or so it feels.I cleaned the main bathroom at 6.20 and was in Tes** by 8. 20 !! I'm now just about to clean out the drain thing in front of our garage door.I think it is called a French Drain. It is full of leaves and if we are going to have some heavy downpours flash flooding etc I don't want the garage flooding again. We always get some water coming under the door with really heavy rain .I have just bought a couple of rolls of bubble wrap which I am going to try and block up all gaps .The ones I can reach any way The garage is so full of rubbish as we are having a skip any day .

I have never heard that expression before William.

Poor Kim having to get all those pills down.Hopefully it will all be worth it and she will soon be feeling a lot stronger <3

I did stupid thing last night.I put the casserole pot with the Normandy Pork in outside to cool off before putting it in fridge.Chris got up this morning and found it still outside !!!!!!!.I think it should be ok as it will be going back in the oven again and then on top of the hob when I add the creme fraiche and mustard. It was very foggy last night and the temperature was cooler so I'm keeping everything crossed.

Right off to clear the drain

Another warm one today. Oh has put the bins out and I should go shopping. Am dreading it with this knee. May get soemone to push the trolley for me as it is always heavy.

Heard from Kim. She will now be taking 6 HORSE PILLS a day now and has to cruch them and take them with apple sauce as they are rough and she can't swallow them.
Poor kid, I do feel for her.

Good day to you all. Waiting now for the news to say what the Royal Couple can expect to find in the cot tonight :-D Another historic day.

I was reading something this morning that made me think back to my childhood. When we were playing games like tag, hide and seek etc, if you wanted a truce, break, call it what you like, we would cross our first and second finger and shout 'Fainlits'. Do any of you remember a similar thing?

Frank, welcome back, hope the weekend went well.

Glad all the veg etc are doing fine ..I have to pull some carrots I think tomorrow.
Pleased you got all the pics.It seems a bit and miss as to who gets them all.
I am away up the stairs now .I need to see if I can finish my book on the Kindle tonight. It's a good mystery /murder :-D

Night Night all x

Frank Report 21 Jul 2013 20:17

All home safe and sound. We left a dull evening in Rutland and as we approached Kettering the sun came out. Now its a bright sunny evening.

While Ros unpacked I watered everywhere including neighbours. Picked our first Tomato., peas are starting to pod up, and the runner beans are starting to appear. Must get amongst potato's and find the carrots, spring onion and beetroot plants. Caulis have flowers developing and cabbages hardening up in the middle. So everything is coming along fine.

Have sent a load of Emails some good ones to have a giggle at !!

Going to settle down with a cold beer and watch a bit of tele.

Look after those bites Mel,

Jane I got all your photo's thanks. Hannah and John have memories to last them a life time. I know when ever I look at my "ROUND THE WORLD" photo's the memories come flooding back.

William

William Report 21 Jul 2013 19:57

Mandy, Edward has to have another coat of blue on his dungarees yet, but he's looking good out among the others.

Jane Report 21 Jul 2013 19:40

Two more friends to fit into your garden William, the little bit of paint on Edward has brought him to life :-D

Jane, i've only had two photo's come through, one with a little girl on and the other with Hannah and John on the floating island !!
Think i'd be a bit scared the reeds would give way and i'd go through them !! not sure if i would like the bobbing about of the island either :-S

Suns out :-D :-D

Have sent an email out with photos of my purchases at the car boot sale this morning.
It cost 50p each to get in complete with car. I was talking to a stallholder and he said they were all there at 7.30pm and if they stayed till close (12.30) they got there £6 stall fee refunded - and they all stayed. I don't think the organisers made much money today!!!
It was poorly advertised and poorly supported.

Jane I got a load of your photos by email this morning.

Jane Report 21 Jul 2013 17:04

Mel I think I know just the type of sandals you mean.So comfy too.Hope that knee gets easier.
I have sent a load of pic .Can someone just let me know if they got through as I'm not sure if they did.

William Report 21 Jul 2013 16:48

Just looked in to see what posts there are today. Got this far but just keep wondering what Mel meant by Sheep sh*t pie????? I'm sorry I can't write any more - my brain is frozen to that statement and I can't come up with an answer - Mel PLEASE explain. I'd hate to go into our butchers and ask for 100 gms of sheep sh*t!!! :-D
We went to a car boot sale this morning and there were plenty of horse pats in the field, would one of them do? It reminded me of when I was a lad and there were horse drawn milk, bread and other carts around. Dad would send me out with the bucket and shovel to collect the 'depositst' the horses left for his garden!

Be back later with more Car Boot news. May be (Sheep sh^t ???? :-S)

Oh is cleaning out something to do with the pond. Keeps him happy.!! :-D :-D

My knee is not too bad today and I am not wearing my usual slipper type shower shoes as they seem to have been worn down on the inside of the left foot which is the bad knee. I have on a very old pair of very flat sandels with a criss cross on the front and a butterfly bow on them. You must know what I mean as they were in every shop imaginable a few years ago. Floral patterned. I seem top hurt it if I turn on it quickly so am being very causeous.

Had our lunch so it's only a sandwich tonight and I have some nice tin salmon with no bones in for that and a cue out the tunnel, with fresh fruits salad and icecream.

Jane Report 21 Jul 2013 14:10

Afternoon everyone
I was a right old lazy bones this morning.Got up just after 10 !! .Then before I had my shower and hairwash I decided to clear all the ironing.I eventually came downstairs at 12.30.
It's a funny day weather wise dark ,cloudy and a bit close.

ooh Mel that bite looks sore and all swollen.I haven't had a horse fly bite for many years but remember how bad they can be :-S
David is your hair curly? Does it look like a mop? :-D...Don't forget ,if you have trouble with rabbits in the garden Save your cut hair and sprinkle it about the edges of the garden .Rabbits don't like Human hair.It worked a treat here for a while.

Frank you will be going home for a rest by the sound of it lol.Ella has certainly taken a shine to you :-D

Pat I hope your new fish settle and survive.I just love watching fish swim about in the tanks. It is so relaxing.

What meat is cooking then Fiona? We are doing another BBQ.I say we .Chris is :-D
I'm just thinking of doing the Normandy Pork today so it will be done for tomorrow, just needing the Creme Fraiche ,Mustard etc adding .It makes sense to do it today as it is not hot.Tuesday it will be Pasta. So thats us sorted now until Wednesday.

I have had some brilliant pics through from Hannah from the floating island .Goodness I can't imagine living on Reeds and my house and everything made of reeds. It is quite incredible.Apparently Hannah became very itchy when she was on the island (because of the reed) and has had to take antihistamine.
I will send a few pics out later. Some might be a bit hazy and not too clear.
I think now they are heading back to Lima to get ready for the flights home.

Chris is calling so off now.

Morning all ,evening Kim,

Cloudy here again ,feeling much fresher outside , i think it should heat up again tomorrow .

Ann, thanks for the photo's ,what a good idea putting the stones round the rotary socket , veg is all looking good too.
I have picked seven cucumbers ,but i noticed that some of the small ones where they are just forming from the flower are turning yellow and not growing .

LOL Frank, little ones can certainly keep you busy , you can imagine what it's like when i have three of them here and a little one crawling about !! :-D

They have all been here this morning ,son had hubby up in the loft looking for his
tent !! they thought they would put it up in the garden for the children to play in over the holidays ,when we pulled it out of the bag the inside was all stained !! so i bunged it in the washing machine , but what ever it is hasn't come out , but at least it has had a wash and freshened it up .

Goodness David i should think you will be glad to get your hair cut ,it must be quite long after all these months , get that cut you'll feel like a new man :-D

Pat i had to goggle the fish , they are very pretty ,lets hope they can survive then .

Mel, you have some nasty bites there , get plenty cream on them .

Love to Shirl if your looking in <3 hope things are getting better .

Hubby's still tiling in the kitchen :-S

Lunch time already , BBL
