Morning All, Evening Kim,

Wearing socks with shorts :-0 :-0, a really big fashion mistake, OH Ann I would have been doubled up trying to hide my laughter from your description of your neighbour . a right put off for the ladies. :-D :-D

Dull here again today, wonder if we will get any sun at all, Jane I need to do some ironing, trying to build up some enthusiasm about it, don't really mind doing summer tops and light trousers, but hate when OH wears long sleeved shirts in the colder weather,

just washed and half dried my hair, now I need a coffee :-)

Morning/Evening All

OMG Ann that did make me laugh.Typical Englishman lol.I wonder where he was off ! Love your Ladybird :-D

The chaps are here now to do the sealants on the Limestone Surround and Hearth.Just given big glasses of iced squash. It makes a change from Tea and Coffee.

I have done some ironing as I know it won't get done later .I think it is going to hotter today and even hotter by thursday.James is going to Jess's Graduation in Canterbury Cathedral on Thursday.I think he is going to be a tad hot in his suit and all the graduates in their heavy gowns and caps !!.It was the same weather 2 years ago there for James graduation :-D

Chris went into the Building Society nice and early to be there as soon as it opened .....It opens at 9.30 today not 9 so he has had to sit in the car for 30 minutes :-S

Well I forgot to say earlier........I had to stifle a grin when I looked out the window this morning. The neighbour next door came out to join his wife to go out in their Audi sports car. Well, he'd obviously made an effort with a 'summery' outfit!! Actually the shirt was ok, but he was wearing some knee length, very, very wide, fawn coloured shorts in a very stiff material. They stuck out at the sides and gaped around very skinny, knees that were supported by equally skinny legs. Hoisted up to half mast, as if to try and meet the lower edge of the shorts were what can only be described as 'Omo white' socks!! I kept thinking of 'It Ain't Half Hot Mum'. :-) :-0 The crowning glory was the footwear. Some flat, brown, moccasin type things that would have been absolutely fine............if only worn with something else!!! He was strutting down the drive with his chest puffed out as if he was the 'bees knees' not 'knobbly knees' as well !! :-D :-D

Profuse apologies to Frank and William if this is your 'summery' attire too!!!! :-S :-

I hang around the freezer sections too Ann.Leaning in the open ones pretending I'm looking for something lol
How awful for your friend her SIL dying so suddenly like that :-(
I bet you are happy now the table has finally GONE.What a performance.

I should get a call tonight to say when my Uncles funeral is.I do know he will be buried in a plot next to Granny Richardson (his Mum)

I think it is Long Lost Families tonight.Better get some tissues ready.I do love seeing people find eachother ,but hate the way Davina and whatsisname talk in that silly slow way with soppy looks on their faces.

Chris is very late getting home tonight..That's never a good sign :-S.I will tread carefully if it looks like it has been a stressful day.I can always tell by the way he comes in .If he doesn't call out and goes straight in the study I leave him to it for a bit.
Speak of the Devil .........he is here and called Hello...Things might be ok :-D :-D

Annx Report 15 Jul 2013 18:48

Yes it is HOT isn't it! I went to do a few errands this morning and M*S was lovely and cool and Sain*burys was positively icy where the veg were.......I made sure I hung about there to get nice and cool. lol. I met a beading friend in M*S, she was getting a funeral outfit. They were at Kilworth House open air theatre last week with her SIL and she collapsed and died with a ruptured heart valve.......no apparent health problem before.

William, your cake looks very tempting........I see she put little Owls on the top of it too.

Fiona, your OH must be pretty fit to be able to work in the heat we've had......I suppose the cycling he does helps!

Well, the table saga continued today with no-one ringing or arriving by 3.30pm. I told OH it would take root soon or get pinched. I decided to ring them and the lady who answered rang the delivery people to confirm they would collect it today!! Great we thought. :-) We got a call in ten minutes to say they would be here in an hour! Great! Well, they did turn up, but with a small van, no trolley and no hoist on the back of the vehicle. :-S The driver took one look at the pallet it was on and said 'useless'. He rang his depot (with little hope as he said no-one would want to come out this late) and OH heard him telling them that OH was an 'older chap' and no they couldn't lift the pallet on between them!! lol. OH laughed and said after 'there is something to be said for being bald and having a grey beard after all !!' :-D Anyway they DID come back and it has GONE now, thank goodness!! The other one should arrive towards the weekend......hope that one is ok!!!! :-S

Oh, Frank, it's good that everything is ok with your test. :-) CAN WE STOP SHOUTING NOW? We have found the same with our spuds too, a bit tasteless!! I did some with some mint in to go with our salad yesterday and they were a bit better. I love courgettes, but don't grow them now as they like a lot of space. :-S I wonder if I could grow them up the trellis? Our beetroot have been swamped by the potatoes too, so I'm digging those nearest out first.

Ruby, lovely pics of your garden.......so lucky to have those little Humming Birds visit you and your pal built you a very nice gazebo. Two lovely little girls as well.

I wonder how Kim is getting on with her 'horse' pills! I hope David is free of his encumbrance too.

Well it looks like we are hanging on to this heat for some time to come.Hotter than some far flung places :-DNow that doesn't happen too often does it lol

William your Owl looks a character :-D.Srummy looking cake too !!!!.It sounds like you have had a good birthday :-D :-D

Ruby ,yes Hannah is my daughter (sorry I should have explained). She is 30 and lives in London now.She has gone on this trip with her partner John.
I had a message this morning to say that in the foyer of the Hotel they are in at the moment are several Oxygen Cylinders and a pot of Coca Leaves.(apparently you chew these is you have altitude problems.James told me these leaves are also used to make cocaine !!!!.She might end up high as a blooming kite if she needs them.
She did send a later message to say she was just beginning to feel the effect of the high altitude. She could be munching through those leaves now lol.I hope it doesn't effect them badly as I believe it is so debilitating.I had a bit of bother in the Rocky Mountains :-S.

I can't sit in the sun .I'm a shady person ;-).I always think of my old school friend Ann.A real sun worshipper and heavy smoker.....she looks years older than me.Well I think so anyway .I was quite shocked the last time I saw her.

Just had a decorator round to see what needs doing .He seems a lovely man.But I think I said before he couldn't do anything before October.

Must get food in the oven .I didn't realise it is nearly 6.45 :-0

Frank, the photo's came from a PM i had on here from some one who had my fathers family name in their tree ,after a few PM's to each other it turned out to the grandson of my grandmothers sister :-D
He emailed me some lovely photo's of my fathers family .

He also said that his mother thought that my father was fostered out and that Queenie ( his mother )paid for his upkeep and education, they wondered if the Felix Braunton that my father always said was a stepbrother was in fact the son of the family he was fostered out too.

Glad to hear the prostrate check was all ok

No we haven't been in the pool yet ,the salt machine has been on and all the salt added , it helps to make the chlorine in the pool and keeps the water clear ,saves having to work out how much chlorine to put in the pool water.

Oh William what a lovely yummy cake :-D save a little for me :-D

Oh i was so hot over the school for Chelsea's sports day ,we did manage to get under the trees in the shade ,all the children were given a bottle of cold water and lolly pops all donated by Tesc*'s
Sadly Chelsea's team came fifth :-( out of the five teams , they never say last !!

Hello all and 'Happy Birthday' William.

Thankyou all for your lovely pictures. Pharaoh is spectacular now William, and love your owl. Your cake looks yummy with all that lovely cream.

Jane, what a view in the picture of Hannah. Is Hannah your daughter? I'll probably never learn the names, but she's a lovely young lady.

You all cook such lovely meals - I eat very plainly. As long as I've got salad and spuds, I'm happy. I miss having broad beans. I always loved them, small or large, but they don't grow in this heat. I wish I had Frank here to cook for me. If you ever come through Charlotte again Frank, allow a few days extra and I'll come and get you and put you in the kitchen. :-D

Don't stay long in the sun. I've lived in hot climates for over 50 years now, and have seen the damage caused by the sun.

Bye for now,
Ruby

Hello again all my lovely friends. Thank you all for the birthday greetings, especially those that came in the post, what a lovely surprize.
No big plans today, taking it easy, keeping cool. Friends popping in this morning and grandson Craig keeping us company this afternoon. Suits me fine. Some nice pressies and lovely cards. My (step) daughter Dorothy sent me a card that had me filling up. The words were lovely and sometimes it's well worth being a 'special' Dad.

I just sent out yet another email with some photos for you all to see, including sharing Frank's card which was very techno (and VERY funny.)

The store in Kenilworth phoned to say that Carmel's present to me has arrived in store. Have to be in Nuneaton tomorrow morning so not sure when we'll go and retrieve it. She got me a 'little something' anyway to go on with. I hope it doesn't end up like Ann's table and chairs!

Frank matey, I don't envy you having a prostate check in weather like this! A case of 'keep your hands to yourself LOL' (whispers) glad you can hear us all OK now. BOOOOOO!!!

Jane

Jane Report 15 Jul 2013 16:52

I wish it was a bit cooler here Fiona. It didn't feel quite so bad earlier but not has really hotted up.

All good at your end then Frank :-D.Thats always a relief. :-D Especially in that department.

I almost stepped on a poor dead bird at the edge of the summerhouse where the Petit Pois are.It was one of the Lovely Mistlethrushs that appeared the other week.I imagine it must have flown into the Summerhouse. It was so lovely :-(

Dipped in yet Mandy?? It must have warmed up a bit now :-D

Frank

Frank Report 15 Jul 2013 16:48

Yes, just take it easy Fiona, no point in over doing things, it will only set you back.

If your OH is anything like I was when younger. I would work through any amount of heat, to get jobs done. Must be nice to go back to work for a rest.

Ros decided to get the curtains down in the lounge. The two front ones have been in the washing machine, on the line, ironed and back up. One of the long ones on the Patio doors (that was before the conservatory) has been in the machine, and is on the line as we speak, the other is in the machine.

What a heavy afternoon it's turned out. Not a breath of air outside and SOOOO humid. The sun keeps popping out from the clouds.

Have feed the greenhouse this morning. The cucumbers are full of flower but nothing else yet. Courgettes are starting to form, it looks like there will be loads this year. The "PATCH" is covered in vegetation The beans are now above the fence and netting and still growing, full of flowers. I can't see my peas, carrots, spring onion and beetroot for all the potato leaves, all in full flower. I hope the Spuds get better flavour, as the ones on Sunday were almost tasteless .

Are you in the pool yet Mandy.??? Move over I'm coming up tomorrow. :-D :-D :-D

Fiona Report 15 Jul 2013 12:33

Glad all went well at the drs Frank, you got a good overhaul :-) if we want to gossip about you we will just whisper ;-) ;-)

well still cloudy here but not cold, having to do my household jobs one at a time and have a rest in between, sort of tired to day, quite good that it's cooler, so will not over do anything.

OH back to work he is very happy he had last week on holiday, not only to do the garden but that the weather was great, he was very lucky :-D :-D

<3 HAPPY BIRTHDAY WILLIAM <3.Hope you enjoyed your meal last night.
Have a wonderful day what ever you have planned <3 <3 <3

Ooh Mandy that must have been SO exciting for you seeing all those photos .I'm not surprised you had a few tears. Bet you will keep having a look at them for days now :-D :-D

Frank is it 'that' test for the Prostate today?

I can hear a big clear up going on next door. The clinking and clattering of bottles and cans being collected lol It's been going on for ages.
Frank they are old enough not to have the Mum around. She often isn't here anyway. It seems a funny set up as her sister seems to be living there too .The Dad disappeared out of the picture some years ago now.

So Mel is off to Boscastle today. That will be lovely by the sea.

Ruby thanks for the photos .Lovely girls :-D and so nice to see more of your garden and Hummingbirds.I wish we had them here.

I'm off down the garden to see if I can find more peas and beans now :-D

Cloudy here today , we are forecast for some rain, we could do with some as the gardens and the grass are really needing it. especially where the skip was, the man came this morning and took it away it has left a big brown square where it had been sitting, but it will soon grow back.

I've not got a lot on today, though I will have to hoover and wash the kitchen/breakfast room floor , it gets really dirty when there's lots of people traipsing in and out from the garden all day, good job it's tiled.

Morning all/Evening Kim,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WILL. Have a good one. Got anything planned ???

Mandy I think I missed out about these photo's Where did they come from.??? I bet you are over the moon.

Restless night again, I looked at the clock at what I thought was 7.20 am and got up. I went to put the kettle on, looked at kitchen clock and it was 4.40 AM I was wide awake so to late to go back to bed, so opened all door are windows and read my book !!! Ready for a doze now.

I have a 10.50 appointment with the nurse for my right ear.(BUNGED UP) been putting olive oil in it. Then 11.00 am with the doctor regarding prostate test. Not looking forward to that bit.

Glad the kids had a good day again yesterday Jane. Where are the parents. ???

Mel you look like you will be busy again today, showing SIL around the area.

Still no news of David, do hope everything is O.K.

William

William Report 15 Jul 2013 08:46

Mandy, that's wonderful, I'm so pleased for you. I wish I had photos of my grandparents. I don't even remember them because most of them died when I was only a toddler. The fact that there were few cameras about didn't help matters. You can cherish them and hold them near to your heart now.

The roast beef dinner went down a treat last night and we did have some good laughs. Now to see what today holds. I'm only on early because I had to put a repeat prescription on.

Did anyone watch Mr & Mrs last night? The winners donated their £20,000 to the Special Baby hospital in Crumlin, Dublin - and that's where Carmel youngest son Jim was born. Seems strange that we lost him this year and then they donate to the very hospital where he was born. Of course there is no National Health in Ireland so that money must be crucial for young parents and their babies.
