You have done so well with your garden Ann. What a lot of hard work but it has certainly paid off, you could have entered it in the Chelsea flower show it was that good :-D

Thank you Mel for forwarding photos, I will never understand the workings of the internet, don't worry Shirl. I will keep trying until I get my way, can't let modern technology beat us 'oldies'

Hi all IT'S ME. Haven't read any posts, I had 32 Emails, sent some on, the rest were for ME !!

Well I am still alive. I forgot (WELL ROS DID) Not her fault.to take my tablets at the weekend, so I haven't had any since Friday morning. By the time I got home I was just about all in. My eyesight was all double vision, and I had terrible headaches and stomach pains. Now taken my evenings tablets early. WON'T DO THIS AGAIN !!

We arrived about 7.00 pm .Friday. The lamb was cooked so all Jan had to do was cook the Veg. that I had taken up. I wasn't at all hungry so the girls had a meal on their own, while I had a couple of beers and watch T.V.

Sat morning, They went off with Jan's daughter (who is 40 on Wednesday) to buy a "Birthday Dress" They didn't arrive home till 6.30 pm. I took them to the local pub for a meal, but were full till 8.30 pm. We went to the next village and got the same answer. So off we went to Oakham, to the regular Indian, either to get a takeaway or eat in the restaurant. They had tables available so had a nice meal in there.

The girls settled down to BGT when we got home, while I sat in the conservatory, watching something else and having a couple of beers.

This morning I slept in late, as I had and Ros a terrible night sleep on Friday night.
Jan had booked a table at the "Hornblower" in Oakham for lunch at 1.00 pm. We were a bit late due to the girls getting ready. After a very nice carvery, they decided they wanted to go to a Garden centre, so there I sat for TWO HOURS in the car. trying to stay COOL.

After returning home and unpacking Jan's plants, we packed the car with everything to come home including more plants for madam. After a cup of tea we set off, only to find three miles down the road, I had left my wallet on the kitchen unit. So back we went, to collect.

To say the least I was glad to get home.

Will read all the gossip tomorrow.

See you soon.

Afternoon Everyone........ooooh it took a while to catch up with all your posts! :-)

We have had plenty of sun here since lunchtime, but longer term on Tuesday I think rain is forecast.

Jane, fancy you having a game bird screeching on your gatepost at that time! I thought he might become a regular there, but luckily it doesn't seem so after all......perhaps he's camera shy!! How great to have a baby woodpecker in your garden.......have they nested in the tree this year?

Mel, your tunnel must get really hot when the ends aren't open. I couldn't believe you were in there in your wellies the other day. It's been crops and crocs for me this week. My feet have tanned slits on them from the crocs!!

Those were lovely sunset pics you sent William. We have a pic of the pub that OH's gt grandparents ran at Hinckley. Pubs seem to outlast houses which is good for FH if rellies used to run one. After lunch we went a ride to Dob*ies garden centre with a 20% off voucher, so I got a couple more alpine pinks. We'd also called in Mo*risons on the way and I got a big hardy fuschia, different to others I have and it was only£2. :-0 We then went a ride along the lanes to Shenton Station near the battlefield, but had just missed the last little train to Shackerstone by 10 minutes! Maybe another time.

Mandy your little cues will soon grow now they have reached that stage!! Just a few more days. Skirting boards primed.........is it tiling next or painting the walls?

I hope your daughter soon feels better Fiona. It must be hard work with a baby and another little one, without feeling unwell as well. Although I'd much rather have had a dog at the time, I often used to feed or change my baby sister from the age of 9 (anything to shut her up as she soon let you know if she wasn't happy, which was a lot of the time!!! lol) I think it must have put me off. ;-)

OH has a fasting blood test and BP check tomorrow......I hope he remembers not to eat before he goes. I have to put myself a note! :-S

Maureen what wonderful pics of the children. Little Chloe looks very happy with her biscuit.

been up the tunnel and pottering in the garden and have tied a rose to the fence and put the clematis through it as it only flowers once. It is Albertine very pretty for a week and then nothing. It was here when mum moved in.

I just can't send my pics at the moment. I don't know why but they just won't load when I try to attach them.

Haven't caught up on any posts, have been out and about, mostly in the garden last week with the beautiful sunshine so we decided to visit my other daughter for the day as she is down at their caravan in Wareham, would you believe it, poured and poured with rain, the sun didn't come out until about 3.00 pm but we took the kids to a farm that had a soft play area, lots of animals, slides and trampoline they had a lovely time especially bottle feeding the baby goats and lambs. We got on the beach at Swanage for a couple of hours but I didn't shed my thick cardigan all day. My other daughter has stayed this weekend as her husband is in France with his dad visiting his 93 years old grannie. Their first wedding anniversary is coming up next week, where has that year gone.

I've given up on my cucumber plants but have bought some more from the boot sale, haven't had a chance to put them in yet, better get a move on.

Afternoon everyone,

What a cloudy old day here and we had a little light rain first thing , no sign of the sun and the forecast doesn't look that good for the week !!

Been pottering in the garden ,hubby's had a tidy up in his van this morning and is now priming the new skirting boards in the kitchen.

I quite fancied a roast this week end but with hubby working in the kitchen i didn't bother to get a joint out of the freezer so we're having Toad in the hole .

Our mattress is like your Jane dips either side lol i only said to hubby the other day we'll soon have to have a new one ,we do turn it from time to time but it's so heavy to do .
I have tiny Cucumbers coming , they are about an inch and a half long now , i did notice my Pepper has a little black appearing on the side shoots just where they branch out , what can that be ??

Better get the oven on i feel quite hungry .

I don't think so Mel, everyone else is fine and we ate all the same food as Victoria, she is pretty tired but bound to be with 2 young children to look after. if she is not any better tomorrow,
Maybe Katherine & I can go up and look after the children,

Katherine has no work to go to at the moment, but has several projects on the go to keep her busy till a job comes up, she has been stripping walls and painting, also keeping up her sewing and designing clothes,
She has started up her own little business called Finishing Touches where anyone can get her help in putting an outfit together, what is the right look for them( her degree in fashion helps with this) and is also helping boyfriend Jake with his photography work,

they have a Web site called
www.jakeandkat.com Jake and kat photography

Jake has done a few weddings and personal photo's like family groups etc, , Katherine goes along to hold the lighting, and helps with display also,

So at least she is trying to keep herself from not getting to down because there is no work out there, I am sure something will turn up, part time work is better than no work at all.

Men and Nappies !!. I was lucky with Chris but I know a couple of men who Poo Poo (pardon the pun) the idea of changing them.My Mum was one who hated nappies ,and it was Dad who did most of them.Bless him....It is 26 years tomorrow since I lost my lovely Dad <3.He was such a lively and friendly man ,and so sad his life was cut short by that horrible disease Motor Neurone. He was only 64.Life is so unfair sometimes.I'm just thankful I had him as my Dad :-D
I know I say this every year lol you must all be bored with me saying the same thing.
Without him and Mum I might have ended up in a children's home :-S..Thank heavens for adoption :-D :-D

Fiona I hope it was'nt something Victoria ate at your BBQ which has upset her. Hope she is better soon. Can't be easy with two little ones to look after. I only had the one and that was bad enough at times.

Fiona

Fiona Report 9 Jun 2013 15:17

Yes Jane, he plays with the children but thinking about it I have not seen him ever change a nappy , when Sofia was on a bottle I saw him feed her, and I think he will manage to feed Matteo when Victoria goes back to work in July , he is going to have to as Victoria will be working Saturdays & Sundays, and by then Matteo will be on solids and just the breast at bed time. if it all goes to plan :-D :-D ;-)

Well I have been and got the veg etc and also came home with a Mattress Topper for our bed.A memory foam one.Lord it was heavy to carry.Hopefully I will wake in the mornings now with no painful hip.Our mattress is so bad ,it has 2 dips either side where we sleep and a big ridge up the middle lol.

The sun has been coming and going and it is quite warm now :-D I can imagine how hot it is in the tunnel Mel..PHEW! I don't think I could bare to be in there for long.
A couple of the cucumbers in our greenhouse are almost ready for picking now, just a few days I reckon.

Oh dear Fiona, poor Victoria.I hope she feels better soon.Is her OH a hands on Dad?

Mel I don't think Frank was taking his pooter this weekend.Hopefully we will hear from him this evening.

Pork is in the oven with some fresh Thyme and Rosemary in the tin.It is beginning to smell scrum my.I have to say I am really looking forward to a good old Roast.

I had to buy more Coconuts for the birds again today.I can hardly keep up with them.
I think the young Woodpecker has something to do with it.You should see how much it manages to get into its beak before it flies off.

What's everyone else up to today ?Chris is doing something with Peppers in the greenhouse at the moment and James is having a clear up in his room, plus doing his ironing.Jess I think is having a bath !.They aren't going out today and are having a spend free day. They don't have funds to go splashing out and I'm not forking out shed loads of money all the time.
On Tuesday Chris and I are going to Cambridge.(not telling James and Jess otherwise they will want to come too and It would be nice to be free of them for a day lol )
I can't believe it is 2pm...where has the morning gone????

Afternoon Everyone, Evening Kim

Sunny here but a little cooler which is quite pleasant, just had a phone call from Victoria, she is not feeling very well so they won't be coming for dinner , good job they were here yesterday for the BBQ.
She is pretty exhausted , part of being a mum who has 2 kids that wake you up in the middle of the night. :-( but she also says she has an upset stomach, told her to have plenty of water to drink and get their dad to look after the kids, and try and get a little rest in-between feeding Matteo,

Time for a coffee. :-D :-D

Morning/Evening All

Mel the photo was the Grouse !!! (4.30 am ).I haven't got a pic yet of the Chaffinch. That is the one who eats the Fatsticks on the window sill.
No it was all peaceful this morning :-D :-D.Thank goodness. We actually slept in !

No sun again :-S.So I have decided to do a proper Roast today. We haven't had a full one for so long.I just need to get Potatoes and some more veg.

I don't know why you get sideways pics Mel.I emailed myself too from the phone and it came up ok.Can you not click something to turn them around.I think I can on my laptop.

Well so much for having sunny weather until the middle of the week.I think it is going to be all cloud :-| :-|.

Ann your garden is looking absolutely lovely. All the hard work has certainly paid off.I love your waterfall.Wish I could hear it tinkling away.Janice used to have a pond with running mini waterfall and it was left on all the time. When I stayed with her I could hear it when I was lying in bed and it was so soothing.

Well I better get on so will BBL

Good morning all and evening Kim,

Another beautiful day here today. Nice and quiet as oh is out ringing.
I ache a bit today after working in the tunnel yesterday.

I have taken a garden table up there so I can do some potting etc. It was a round metal one. Maybe thats whats made me ache but I did have it in the wheelbarrow.

Jane were you awoken by your noisey friend this morning?

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 Jun 2013 22:26

Thanks for all the pictures Ann William and Jane.

Jane why do the ones from your phone come out sideways. I get a crick in my neck trying to look at them. I take it it was the chaffinch.
