Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 May 2013 17:03

Lovely to see Pat posting and good you had a little time away and met new rellies. What a week it has been for you Pat.

I hav'nt spoken to my son for fifteen years and he is the only one I had. I still love him to bits though. He was 44 on Sunday 19th May.

Ann wish my oh took me to a carvery every week. You lucky thing.

Hav'nt gone shopping today as you can see. Did'nt feel like it. Oh is out ringing tonight and I am going up the tunnel to water and see if my peas have come up yet.

Sounds as if you are good at shrinking things then Ann if your turned out smaller :-D :-D :-S

I know what you mean about the birds costing a fortune Frank, they are getting through the fat balls at a rate here too , i stocked up again this morning.

My you live well , Crayfish Tails and Avocados :-D all washed down with a bit of the old Champange ?? :-D :-D

Nice to see you back Pat, glad .you enjoyed your days away ,it's very sad when families fall out, you know you've tried to make contact ,all you can do is wait now and hope, as you say you've done your best ,and that's all you can do.

Clouded over this afternoon , and it's just started to spit with rain :-(

Hope we hear from David this week, it's been a few weeks now since we last heard any thing .

Annx Report 28 May 2013 16:46

Still raining here. :-S

Frank, look at you with your 'POSH NOSH'!! lol :-D I love avocados but never tried them for many years. Now I like them in salads or spread on bread instead of butter. No chance of doing anything outside here either. :-| Still, it is giving those shrubs I planted a good watering.

After we had the carvery we called for my prescription and to look in a few shops nearby. OH said it would be 20p to park as we got out of the car and went our seperate ways. We arranged to meet in one of the charity shops and then to go and see if A*di had any nuts and prunes that I wanted. After getting those and a bargain new pair of good quality crocs at the charity shop for £2.50 (I find them ideal in the garden as they slip off easy when you need to nip indoors) we went back to the car only to find a £25 parking ticket as OH had forgotten to get a 20p ticket out of the machine!!! :-| He wasn't happy about that. So much for getting a bargain in the charity shop. Since we got home he has been buzzing around doing things I've asked him to do in the last few days, so maybe it was a wakeup call!! lol. As he said, he won't forget to do that again in a hurry!!

Glad you had a nice break Pat and caught the nicer weather. How great to have been able to chat with those rellies you found too. It is a shame your efforts to patch things up with your son haven't worked yet, but at least you have tried and maybe it just needs more time.

It must be quite difficult raising children. I really liked my first MIL and she used to tell me I treated her better than her own daughter, but she managed to cause some bad feeling. She had a son (my first hubby) and a daughter 5 years older who married young and 2 small children quickly followed. Hubby to be and I saved hard for 4 years to buy our home and furnish it before we got married and I used to put the things we bought or made for our home in MIL's box room. Hubby's sister would poke around in there looking at our things when she visited and moan to her mum that she would like/ wished she had whatever took her fancy in there and MIL would go out and buy the same things for her that we had had to save and pay for ourselves!! Even when MIL bought us a new fridge as a wedding present it took the shine off it when we found out she'd bought her daughter one as well because she'd said she wanted a new one the same.

Frank, I was so sorry to hear about both your son and daughter blanking you out and I don't know how these things happen in families but it's a sad state of affairs. We have had similar things happen with our kids but after a while things have been patched up and forgotten thank goodness. Just as well because, as you know Jim died earlier this year, and he had a 'touch of the funnies' for a while there. I'm glad that wasn't the case when he passed away so untimely. There was also a bit of a rift with Alan, Carmel's eldest, but thankfully, that too was patched before his untimely death too.
I don't see much of my two because Mandy lives in the wilds of Northants (Woodford Halse) and Kevin & his brood live in Lewisham. But we all love each other and when we do get together, it's nice and huggy and all that stuff.
Still, as you say you have Ros's boys and blood doesn't have to be thicker than water. I know that myself and I never hardly use the expression 'step' because I'm always here for whoever needs me.
I only had the one brother and he died in his 60's and I still miss him very much, so I guess I get as much 'family' around me as I can.

Haven't been outside the door today except to the bins, because it doesn't seem that anyone knows how to turn the tap off out there!
Still, indoors jobs to do and all that. I don't know whether it's the weather but my internet keeps going off and I have to keep re-pressing the button on my little gismo. (whether it's the weather that's shrinking the Werthers! - now there's a mouth full :-D )

Frank Report 28 May 2013 13:11

Pat, so nice to see you posting again, and that you had a nice 5 days away.

I can sympathize with you, regarding Son. My son for reasons only know to him, decided to blank me three years ago. I took his birthday present over to his house, not knowing what shift he was on. There was no reply, so put it on the back door handle, behind the gate. When I got home I telephoned and left a message, he has never returned my call. As I mentioned before my daughter fell out with me when I told her off for borrowing money from a friend of mine, never to repay it.
That is not the way she was bought up, and has ignored me ever since. It was only a few weeks ago that I found out I was a Gt.Gt, Grandfather. I doubt that he will ever be part of my life. I am still very bitter over my children, when I think that Conrad and Harvey are Ros's boys, but so much my own children, and as for Lewis he could have any part of me, if he needed it.
I'm sorry I'm going off on one again, but when these things crop up, it brings back so many unhappy thoughts.

Back to brighter things, IT'S STILL RAINING !!!

I have looked in the fridge and I find Ros has bought me two advecardo pears, to go with my crayfish tails, I only need some thin brown bread and butter and I wll think I am at the SAVOY. ;-) ;-)

Morning All..Evening Kim.

Im still around...Subscription is coming up shortly so need to sort that out..

Im so glad I went away last week for 5 days , now that we have the rain here.

I went to a little cottage in a village called Uploders near Bridport Dorset..The weather was kind to us as well..until the Thursday afternoon when we had rain and hailstones lol...

Went to Lulworth cove...The beach isn't as good as I remember from earlier years when we used to take the kids.

About 6 weeks ago I connected to another Bevan family member on my dads side
and found that 2 cousins married each other..one from my granddads and one from my nans side (his wife) so we have a double connection there.
We managed to meet up with them on the way back from Dorset at his dads..His dad ( in his 80s ) knew my nan and granddad well and we were recalling things..I didn't have much to do with my dads side of the family as he moved from Kent to Luton when he was 14 to work in a hotel.

Things are still bad between me and my younger son..had abig falling out 5 weeks ago... He lives in Kent so isn't on the doorstep...I have tried to heal the rift on several occasions but he is ignoring my phone calls now..Well I have done my best.....
Must finish washing the floor now..Hope everyone is feeling a lot better.

Mandy

I rang the number the doctor gave me the answer back was to go onto their web site first look at the self help advice try that first and then if there is no improvement phone back and speak to a phone controller to make an appointment at the nearest clinic. this method is to save you waiting for weeks for an appointment

Gosh I only just caught the bin men as they were sitting in their dust cart having their coffee in the village hall carpark.

At least that dos'nt have to hang around for another week up in the old workshop!!

Fiona it is nice to know what is actually wrong with your arm . I hope the phyisio gives you some releif and the pills help so you will soon be tickerty boo again.

Suns out here and it looks promising.

Frank Report 28 May 2013 10:55

Morning all/Evening Kim,

MEL AND MANDY, aren't you the lucky ones. Sunshine what's that ??? There isn't a break in the cloud here, and it's raining (I told you so!!)

Yes, our Jane will be on her way now, do hope they have a nice break.

Fiona, If it's muscular, gentle exercise might help, and a vapour rub, will warm the area. Hope it soon improves. But I suppose we could call you "ARMLESS" :-D :-D :-

Ros will be out with Carolyn at about mid day, they will go around chatting as usual, I don't know what they find to talk about, but there again they are WOMEN.

Lunch today is crayfish tails, that Ros bought me. They need to be used, so will put those in a sandwich with a couple of tomato's

The birds have cleared TWO trays of fat and seed, in a day and at £1.50 a throw, I think we will have to hold back a bit. They are costing us an arm and a leg. !!

Coffee time, then shower and shave. I don't think it will be shorts today, as I won't be going out in the garden.

Annx Report 28 May 2013 10:52

Morning All.......it's wet, wet, wet!! :-)

Yes those gipsy vanner horses are beautiful aren't they Mel.There are a lot of them in the fields along the canal near here. I just hope that Jane doesn't get into the traffic arriving there.

Ah ha........Nelly Moser Frank, they are lovely. We had one years ago that covered the end of our garage and when in flower was magnificent. I seem to remember they are best facing north to keep the colours from fading, but I'm sure yours will find what suits it up the tree!

That's good you know what the pain is Fiona so hopefully the tablets will help. Mandy is right about the physio. When I went to the docs with the pain under my shoulderblade she referred me for physio and the appointment has only just come through for next week. It is a lot better now but doesn't feel quite right yet so I'm still going to the appointment as what they do may help it to get better quicker.

Even if I don't keep the bag Mandy I will very likely do another. I think I would use a cooler wash next time so it comes out a little bit bigger....... although you can't pack it with heavy stuff as it would pull out of shape I think. Everyone else's was a bit bigger than mine, even using the same wool so my eco washing machine must be different!!

I'm glad Carmel's nail is improving William......must be your TLC!!

Better get a move on now......it's carvery day today. :-D

Morning All and Evening Kim and Goodbye Jane,

By the time I have caught up wth your posts Jane will have left!! Hope she and Chris have a good time and there are not that many gathering for the Appleby Fair yet. I must just say that some of the ponies are the nicest looking ponies I have seen. I love the coloured ones.

It rained all day yesterday after I told you it had started but this morning it is dry and quite bright with white clouds in the sky and some sun occasionally.

Fiona, i hope you get some relief with these tablets for your arm , at least by seeing the doctor you now know what it is .
I would ring and get an appointment at the physiotherapy clinic ,if its any thing like here you have to wait six weeks to get one !! you could always cancel if it improves but at least you know you have an appointment if you need it .

Ann, the bag has turned out really well, i love the beaded flowers on it ,shame to sell it ,i would use it .

I'll just say 'Morning all' and leave off the 'good' bit as it's bucketing down rain outside. Knew it was on the change yesterday so gave our lawn another cut because it is the week for our 'green bin' collection on Friday.

Frank, I thought it was Nelly Moser, the clematis. My Dad had one over his back trellis and it was a stunner and his favourite. That's what he said it was anyway.

Didn't do very much the last couple of days. I redressed Carmel's toe nail yesterday after her letting it have 'a bit of air' for a while, it's coming on slow but sure.
S*insburys re-built the pub round the corner into one of their 'local' stores (sign of the times - the old Raglan pub up by Bayton Road has been pulled down and is becoming a C*-Op local!!!). Anyway, much to our amazement, the store is well used and we even pop in now and again. After calling in there briefly yesterday, we decided to walk along and see our dear friend Helga as we hadn't seen her for a while. Helga originated from Austria (believe I've said all this before), is now 92 and can't walk about much - and apart from that is very deaf. Anyway, she was delighted to see us and asked if we were going to the shop, but of course we said no, we'd been. Apparently she had little food in because her neighbours, who usually look after her, were away on a break. Cutting a long story short, I went along to the store and got what she needed while she and Carmel swapped yarns, literally.
She had loads of wool that was surplus and our relative at Long Eaton knits up 'hampers' of knitwear which raises money for the local children's hospital. So next time we go to see her we'll be able to help that cause, thanks to Helga.

A few posts ago, I see the topic was bin collections. I notice various places have different bins for different things. We have the usual black bin for household, collected fortnightly. Then we have a brown lid bin - for plastics, tins, paper & card. Then there is the green lid bin, for garden rubbish, collected alternate weeks to the black. We also have a small bin that takes biodegradable liners for waste food etc. These liners when full go into the green lid bin. To my amazement, it all seems to work very well even if I seem to have an endless trek back and forth in my efforts to recycle everything! (Forgot to say, brown & green bins go out same week).

Okay, I've had a cuppa, now I'm think breakfast - so I'll look in on you all later. Have a nice - and dry - day. C Y A L

Won't be gone that long Mel. might even be able to send a pic from my phone. If I can I will just send to you as it is so fiddly and I am not a dab hand at this new fangled phone lol. Maybe you could just forward anything to all the others.Don't hold your breath though !!
I'm just about ready to fall into bed.I get silly when I go away and keep thinking I need to be doing things. So I think the best place is bed....otherwise I will be bleaching loos ,dusting(done that) hoovering etc.I'll be bad on thursday so a little more dust and other mess can wait until then.
Might pop in quickly in the morning. Night Night xx

M y apologies , The clematis is called "MOLLY MOSER" Where I got the other name from I just don't know. I told you this morning I was doing doolally , now that proves it :-D :-D

So it looks like there will be a lot of detours then Jane, if you are picking us all up. What time do you think you will be here ???

I can't believe you could spend the day in the garden Mandy, you wouldn't have wanted to stay out there if you had been here. I hope you won't take up to much room in the back seat. <3 <3 <3 I like to stretch my legs. or you can have Jane in the back and I'll sit with Chris.

BGT on at the mo. So I have come out of the way.

That wind has dropped right off now, it's quite a calm evening, but they do forecast rain during the night, and into tomorrow, so another day without getting in the sunshine.

I must make an effort to go into town with Ros this week. It's our 35th wedding anniversary next Monday, and I haven't got a card yet. I tried to book a table at a very nice pub for a meal for Monday evening, only to find they don't open on Mondays. So plan "B" will have to come into operation, even though I don't know what plan "B" is ;-) ;-)

See you in the morning, enjoy the rest of the evening.

Jane

Jane Report 27 May 2013 19:51

Mandy ,I'm sure there is a space for you too.And you will be less trouble than our Frank ;-) ;-).In fact I have enough room to take everyone :-D
Can't believe how little I'm taking.I'm just in the process of transferring things from one handbag (my everyday one) to a bigger one :-DOne that I can get my Kindle, camera etc in.plus bottle of water.

I must remember to take back the Hair Straighteners to the Hairdressers when we leave in the morning.Chris will just drop me off and drive around the block so I can run in and out.I have had a try with them, but reckon I can do without.Plus I don't really want to fork out all that money on something I will probably not use much.I did find them awkward to use ,but I am very cack handed so am better off just using a hairdryer and brush :-D

Frank what a lovely plant for Ros's friend to bring you.I bet it looks lovely :-D
