Been in the garden nearly all day. Did go up the border this afternoon to get rid of some buttercups which have taken over one end of the border. My bearded iris was flowering with buttercups all in it and round it you could'nt see the blooms. They are all out now but like Mandy says dos'nt your back know it!! I coulld hardly move when I tried to come down the garden. I think it is the way I was standing between the plants getting them out from the back. I knocked a flowering head off one of the (forgotten the name of them) they are purple things like gladioli with smaller flowers!! blast blast blast............... I want to say Caffia lillies, and thats not spelt right!!!!!!! O I do get cross with myself..............................
I had'nt fed the hedgehogs and oh just went out and he was there looking for his food. Dunnit now..

Hi All, don't know where the time has gone, haven't caught up with all the posts yet. The last time I posted I was off to Westfield to get a jacket for son's wedding and I wasn't coming back until I had, well, 7 hours later and I am finally all set. You won't get it Frank but I'm sure Ros would. I can now sit back and look forward to Thursday.
What a glorious day have, been in the garden all day although I have to confess I probably had more 'tea' breaks than actual gardening, I have got stung by horrid stinging nettles and my poor hand has been suffering pins and needles for hours.

I have been out doing some weeding and doesn't my back know it :-S
Shirl emailed me yesterday to say thanks for the email of Mels that i passed on , she didn't say why she hasn't been on though.
Well my poor cucumber looks very wilted now in fact i think its bordering on dead !!! :-S it was so lovely and green a few days ago . I think i will have to buy another one, it will just be a little bit behind the others .
I bought a cooked chicken for tonight ,hubby had some with salad ,i didn't have anything , i might have a piece of toast later if i feel hungry .

I hope he doesn't catch any Bunnies really Ann.If they have any sense they will stay away. What a shame you can't get your Blackberries anymore ,but I suppose it is elf and safety the need for the fencing.
Frank we haven't fallen out ,I can just tell when he is in 'one of them' ..it's his face lol That's when I know to keep my mouth shut and just smile sweetly :-D....Mind you if I did that I would no doubt get some rude remark lol.He has had a good kip under the Bay Tree and I think feels more refreshed now.I've just taken him out a nice big G&T. Crikey Ann ,I wonder what the neighbours BBQ was like !!..... a cremation maybe. I do love smell of other peoples BBQs ,when the aroma just gently floats across on the breeze. Next doors German Shepard has driven us nuts as he barks the whole time their lawn mower is going. Then the Retriever the other side of them started up.It was so peaceful until then.
I can hear James upstairs Barking too.....He now has my cough :-S.At least he had a good time at the wedding he went to yesterday. He said he got in about 1am and was surprised I didn't hear him.Said he nearly fell in the door :-S.He doesn't drink a huge amount but it sounds like a few went down .It probably did him good to get out and enjoy himself for a change. This unemployment business is getting to him. He has just started an on line course which will enable him to teach some English abroad (should he ever do that). At least it will be a little something more under his belt. Also it is giving him something to do.I think the course is called TEFL.
I wonder how our Pat is .It is now a long time since we heard from her.I really hope all is well.David too,but as someone said maybe his pooter is the problem. It is a shame no-one has any means of contacting him. I'm off outside now to have a glass of wine in the last of the sun :-D

The sun has got his hat on......hip hip hip hooray!!!
Phew it is hot out there now!! I'm doing my planting in a while after I've got the salad ready when I hope the sun won't be so strong.
Frank, OH always brings me cups of tea when he is in my bad books.....it works!! lol.
Mandy my cue is still wilted. :-S I just hope it picks up as it has little cues on it now. I see you are keeping things 'moving' with getting the paint as well!! lol.
Jane, I hope any little bunnies he catches are big enough to dig a burrow before dark!! :-0 I was looking at some baby continental rabbits at a garden centre today and they are massive. I thought if any of those get loose into the wild we'll have a real problem.....they are as big as dogs.
On the way home today we decided to walk along to Granitethorpe quarry, disused for many years, but you could get to look at it and we got basinfuls of big blackberries there a couple of years ago. Well, shock, horror they have bulldozed an opening through to it and put high metal fencing all around it with big gates where the opening is. You can't see a thing now! :-S Mind you, like one or two of the quarries near here that haven't been worked for many years, the fencing did need attention to be safe. Worst of all they have widened the track up to it and uprooted and burned all the blackberry brambles which covered quite a big area next to it.
We used to get late garden parties here from one of the houses on the main road, but since the firework restrictions and the credit crunch there hasn't been one for ages. It is really annoying when you are trying to sleep though. We had some that went on till 4.00am. Yesterday we had to shut all the windows to keep out the smoke from nextdoor's barbeque. I think he must have been trying to burn old socks or garden rubbish the smoke that was coming over!! lol.
I hope your shoulder soon feels better Fiona, if it is muscular it can take a long time to improve.
Yes, where is Shirl??

It's just the DOG'S whatsits out in the sun. I have been sitting reading with a can of cold drink
Would you believe, when Ros was potting up the planters and baskets, she decided she DIDN'T have enough lobelia, so off she went, came back with even more plants. Chelsea Flower Show eat your heart out.. I've stayed out of the way, as I would only get told off !!. She is speaking again, and I have made her a cup of tea. BOWNIE POINTS FOR ME !!
We won't be having dinner till later, around 6.00 pm me thinks.
I will be out watering this evening, with all these new plants and baskets.
Mel, Some years ago Mrs Thatcher and half of the Cabinet were at a shindig in the BIG HOUSE in the village. The noise was so loud, half the village phoned the police and the gentry at the big house. There was such a lot of bad press, they never had another.!! They just don't consider other people when they have these parties.
What's poor old Chris been up to, for you to want to start on him ??? I bet it's all your fault :-D :-D :-D
Fiona, I haven't had the BBQ out this year. In the pass it has only been used when all the family get together. It is great fun, but a lot of work for me. I do hope your shoulder improves, I am always waking in the night with mine, it seems to lock up, and give off a lot of pain. I know mine is arthritis, and there's not a lot can be done to help.
All tickerty boo then Mandy. Plastering all done, You aren't letting him off, getting the paint in while you have him at it lol lol It would be no good asking me if the colour would look good. I'm colour blind. Everything I wear has to be chosen by "My fair Lady" Shirts, ties, trousers, socks. The house furniture and paper on the walls are all Ros's choice. I once bought myself some grey socks, and they were bright PINK.. Enough said.
I saw Shirl of FB yesterday, and she is often on line, I will have to Skype her and she how she is, if we don't hear from her.
I do hope it's only David's laptop, that's keeping him from letting us know how he is, I hope he hasn't had a relapse, and back in hospital.
Back to the sunshine, Don't get burnt out there, will you people !!

Phew! I'm boiling.Still haven't got my shorts on ,but I think I will now.
3 BBQ's Fiona. That's pretty good going :-D.Lets hope you have many more this summer. Those Tens Machines are really good.I'd give it a bit longer if I were you before seeing the Dr.These inflammation things (like your shoulder) can take quite a while to disappear.I wonder if a bit of Physio might help if it doesn't improve.
Frank ,I think I could fall out with Chris today if I'm not careful...He seems to be in' one of those',and it's too nice a day to argue lol...Are you 2 talking yet?
Hannah sent me a lovely pic from her phone this morning from where she is in Ireland.Looking right out over the sea somewhere .I must ask her exactly she is. I think where John's Grandfather lives Gaelic is the first language (I'm sure that's what he told me)I wonder if Hannah has a phrase book :-D :-D
It is so peaceful here today.I can't hear any noise from the traffic on the A14.I wish it was like this all the time.Just the bird song and a lawn mower or 2 somewhere .
Mel that must have been so annoying for you last night. That Boom Boom Bass noise. I love it but just not when trying to sleep.
Has anyone one heard from Shirl and how her biopsy went on her leg?I think she was getting the results of it.
Right I better get on and do something.

William , i take one Loratadine every morning too, they do help, i some times get itchy eyes and have to remember not to rub them as they then swell up in the corner of the eye .
Do you think all the noise from the big house was a one off thing Mel? it's not some thing you want hear every week end :-S :-S
Oh dear Frank you in the dog house again !! :-( :-D
Plaster going on the walls as i speak :-D we had to nip out to get a sprayer as hubby wanted to wet the walls so while we were out we bought the Emulsion for the walls 15% off this weekend at Home b*se ,we picked a nice colour ,Mellow Sage .
I noticed today one of my Cucumber plants has wilted !! the other two look ok it's the mini cue one .
My seat in the sun is calling but so are the weeds !! they seem to have shot up with all the rain we've had !! better go and pull a few up .

Afternoon All.
Yesterday was lovely and sunny , slightly chilly in the shade because of the wind. but that is good for me , can sit under the brolly and not get a sore head, we even had a BBQ , 3rd one this year so far. got to go for it when we have sunny weather. Today is more cloudy , the sun tries to come out , and thankfully the wind is not so cold. Gave church a miss again this week cos of my shoulder but the tens machine is helping a lot and I am taking a couple of pain killers if needed. OH wants me to go to the doctors on Tues if it's not better have had it over a week now :-0
I need to call OH in for some lunch, just a sandwich I think as it's lamb for dinner , not sure what is for sweet, will have to take something out the freezer.

Morning all/Evening Kim,
Yes it is a beautiful morning. I have feed and watered the birds, cut the front lawn and trimmed both back and front.
Ros changed the bed this morning and did a whites wash. When the machine had finished, I emptied it and took it to the back lawn. Put up the big like, and started to hang out the hankies and tea towels. Out she came, leave that alone, I like to hang the washing a certain way. The times she has said it and I still ignore her. I said "well I hope you don't expect me to hang it out if and when you are not well" I stormed off in a huff, so now we aren't talking
Potting of the baskets, and tubs today. We have so many plants out there, I don't think we have enough pots and baskets. LOL
I only live about 10/12 miles from Daventry Will. My son lives there and we use to visit, until he decided he didn't want contact with me about three years ago. So I have no need to go there now. You do seem to enjoy getting around these places. Do it while you can mate,
The weather looks like it will hold for today, all change again during the week. so enjoy it !!

Morning All and Evening Kim,
O what a beautiful morning...............da da da da da da da.
We have been sitting in the garden feeding the birds and drinking tea and coffee (oh dos'nt drink tea). There are people staying at the big house and their music was sooooooooooooo loud last night. The bass was rocking the whole house. I don't know how anyone over there could hear themselves speak. I could hear them over here all chatting away and there were lights going down the field and back up again. It went on till the early hours. Oh said he wondered whether to go outside the big house at 5am and sound the car hooter continuously and see how they liked that when they were trying to sleep! :-0
Anyway I went to bed at 2.06am and it was still going on then. I felt sorry for our neighbour who has a baby and a young child of 5 but then again perhaps they don't get the sound like we do as we are right in the line of fire so to speak.
Great day here and hardly a breath of breeze. We watched the kestral being chased by a crow and we have a new Robin turned up last night and he has a bald forhead so that one is called Tatty Head.
Oh going ringing this morning and I think I may wash my hair while he is out.
Thanks for the pics William.
Our Shirl lives in Melanie Ave and I thought that was quite appropriate for her to be on my thread!! :-D

Good morning all (or whatever time it is where ever you are!) - lovely and sunny out. Glad you liked the photos from our jaunt yesterday, I thought the cakes would get a few mouths watering :-D. It does look quite in the photos I took, but that was later in the afternoon, the, modern area near the car park was the busiest area. Look's like I'm going to get a new name showing you the photo with my name on it! (HRH Jane, really, get off your knees). I've taken various photos of signs where my name appears, I'll email them out when I get a minute. Last night my eyes were watering and sore even after using my eye drops. I think it was hay fever because there were so many rape seed fields yesterday. I have to remember to take my Loratadine every morning at this time of year. I was very tired also last evening, had a job to watch TV, bedtime my head hit the pillow and that was it to turned 6am this morning.
Those who are linked to my F*cebook page will see I'm currently running a 'Being Kids' series - got some good ones to follow. Will also be doing a 'One for the road' series from time to time, hope you enjoy both.

Morning/Evening All
I forgot about Sky Blue Pink. It's true though .You do get that blue/pink colour sometimes.Perfect description I think :-D
I see HRH William had a nice day out .It looked very quiet in Daventry William. The only time I have ever been there was to drive Chris home after he had his vasectomy at some Medical Centre lol.It was a Vasectomy Clinic or something and as I sat in the waiting room with Chris it was funny to see so many nervous looking men (waiting for their turn) :-D :-D....That sounds hard hearted `i know ,but just think what us Ladies have to go through sometimes !!!!!.
It is going to be another smashing day.I will rethink dinner ,as I was going to do Pork Steaks, with little roast potatoes etc.I have a Rotisserie Type Chicken which I think I will cook ,and have cold with Salads ,and some nice bread or maybe baby new pots. If anyone is really expecting a Roast well they will just have to lump it lol
I'm sitting in bed with the lap top,Kindle and iPhone.....and the TV on.I can only do this as I am still in the spare room.In our bed I just have my Kindle or a book.
Nothing in the traps this morning .Ann LOL if any bunnies are caught he will drive them away and release them away from here.I do worry if a Squirrel is trapped though as it is illegal to release one once caught into the wild. When he was setting the traps yesterday a Squirrel was happily munching away on the bird's coconut.....so I had a stern word with it and told it to steer clear of any metal cages with food in :-D :-D Frank's shorts will be in use today again.I might even drag mine out later :-0

Evening All,
I see you've all been enjoying the sun!
I hope you managed to smooth over a possible mutiny with tea and biccies Mandy and hopefully your OH has got the plaster bits all done now.
Thanks for the pics William (or should I add 'Prince')!! I have never shopped in Daventry, but it does look nice there. That eatery looks very full of temptation to me!! It was good that Carmel managed to potter about a bit, it will do her good a bit of sunshine and fresh air.
Frank, I bet you will ache all over tomorrow after all that scrabbling about......I know I would!! I hope you've had a good rest since and not been tempted to overdo it.
You sound as if you are a lot better Jane. Is Chris catching the rabbits so they will be easy to shoot!!!! lol :-0 :-) :-D ;-) Don't tell him I said that!!!!
Mel, It would be nice to see a pic of the Pheasant with her chicks.......I bet they are lovely. It sounds like you won't be short of butternut squash!! I absolutely love it in a rissotto or in a vegetable lasagne but have no room to grow it!! :- (I loved your decoration and the purse......especially the little acorns!! :-)
I'm off to bed now.........I got the last couple of evergreen shrubs I need for the side border today, so that's a job planting them tomorrow.
David did say a couple of weeks ago that the laptop he bought was no good, so maybe he is 'without' at the moment or struggles to use a desktop one with his 'contraption'.
OH came up with a memory I'd forgotten today.......remember asking your parents what a particular colour was and being told it was 'sky blue pink'? :-D :-(
Nightie night...........xx

Hi everyone, hope you all enjoyed the bit of sunshine today. After a slow start and a few jobs, we headed over to Daventry once again, nice day to be driving in the countryside anyway. We took our time because of Carmel's toe healing and she used her walking stick (which slows us down even more!). We had a good look around all the shops and just bought a few things, as you do. Then it was time to visit our favourite café, which I've mentioned before. So rather than go into all the in-and outs, I've emailed some photos instead. One thing I'll relate, in a 'I've seen everything now' manner is when I was sitting on a bench waiting for Carmel to come out of S*perdrug. Situated in the modern shopping area, I was surprised when four bridesmaids dressed in red passed me by heading for the precinct! As if that wasn't enough, the bride and groom, page boy and various other wedding attired people also bowled through the area in the same direction. Goodness knows where they were headed or had even come from, there certainly wasn't a church nearby. Maybe I shall have to explore Daventry a bit more!!!

It is still really warm in the sun on the patio.I have been reading my Kindle with just a sleeveless top on.But once out of the sun it is chilly. I feel absolutely shattered and I've hardly done anything.I think just all this blooming coughing is wearing, and my ribs hurt :-S
Frank the weeder is an electric patio weeder. It has a long handle ,so no bending. It doesn't get the roots out of the gaps but just takes the weeds down to the level of the slabs. If you GoogleElectric patio Weeder you will see what it looks like.
Chris has just taken the traps to set, with a bunch of carrots and an apple lol.....It might be the last supper :-D
I feel too tired to talk, and I need to get Dinner going. It is Lamb Pinwheels, new potatoes, peas and baby carrots.....Yawning my head off zzzzz.I think it will be an early night for me tonight.

My cues have only got one proper leaf at the mo so I am way behind you lot this year. My runners are only just up and the dwarf beans. I have 2 yellow courgettes and one green one planted out and one butternut planted out. When I took the black poly off that bed I watered the other day I had some nice long seedling about two inches long under it so I gave it all another water and put the poly back. Should catch a few more now.
Oh fitted the pretend bell up for the little guy at Okehampton and got back at two oclock. That put the kybosh on my planting and sowing day. Gave him lunch and we had a cuppa outside and watched the lady pheasent and her chicks come for some corn and crumbs and oh cleaned out the pond filters and I came indoors. Now I have to go and look at the three baby Chaffinches in the tree.
