Where's Franky Boy??

William Report 24 May 2013 15:19

Hi everyone, hope you are all Ok, especially Jane.

What a day weather-wise, so windy and so cold with it, not to mention the rain showers. Carmel had to get an emergency appointment with her dentist for 12.10 so we had no choice but go out. One of her centre teeth keeps banging off the roof of her mouth and has made it so sore. I had a look and it appeared to be a blister to me. We weren't sure if it was a side effect from the Lichen Planus or is caused by her dystonia.
Anyway, the dentist said yes it was very sore and burr the top of that tooth to take the sharpness off it. He also gave her a scrip for Diflam spray to ease the inflamed area.

So we had to go the half a mile into town and get her scrip made up but I had a scrip in at our surgery anyway - luckily it's all in the same area. What got us though was that it was so cold we were back in our winter coats and all short of scarfs and gloves!!! No wonder I had the heater turned up in the care coming back.

Has anyone heard anything of David? I keep wondering how he is getting on, I hope he is on the mend.

Lovely to see you Kim. Hope you are feeling a little better after the change in meds.

I am working on that thing I was making the other week. I shall show you what it is when it is done. Very fiddly but quite beautiful even though I say it myself. Well I think it is anyway.

Hello everyone,

Starting to feel the approach of winter here, rain and winds today and about 18 degrees, but they said it would get up to 22 in the days to come. Went out today and furniture was blown over, must have been very blustery last night.

Jane I hope you are feeling a little better. I hate having a cough, daughter has been spreading her germs around. She is always sick with infections.

Thank you to everyone for the wonderful photos. I have enjoyed seeing all these different places.

Hairdresser came to cut our hair, that is the whole family and Joy as well. She barely took any off mine, not growing much and not in great condition either. Joy, bless her, has a beautiful head of hair for a woman of 87. She has been upright thank goodness, but I think the memory is starting to go a bit.

Frank did I read right, you have had a bit of skirt coming in when Ros is away?? ;-) ;-) Naughty boy. Poor Conrad, I remember having a large abscess in my bottom, had to have it operated on. So painful for weeks. I hope he gets some relief very soon.

Fiona I need a tens machine for my shoulder. Will have to look into where to buy one. Hope your meds. are helping and it is a comfort to have someone on the other end of the phone when you are worried about your condition.

Mandy a belated happy 8th birthday to Jake. I hope he had a great day.

Not a lot happening here, hubby bought me a new monitor which I didn't need. Other one was just fine, this is 24 inch and I've had to turn the brightness down. Visual overload!!! :-S Yes margins have been playing up, but I got onto this page without any trouble which is amazing.

Hi to Liz, Mel, William, David, Ann, Shirl, Pat. I think that is everyone. Have a good weekend and I hope the weather fines up for you. Cheers. 8.53 pm AEST

Speaking of vermin, we have a couple of mice in the ceiling, rat sack up there. OH will need to check if it has been touched. No wonder, absolute breeding ground next door. Now he has brought home two motorbikes. You cannot see our house as you come into the street for the pile of mess, cars, trucks. There have been dead rats laying around in some of the front yards. Jane I hope your big fellow has taken off for other pastures. :-)

Glad your feeling better Jane and have managed to get your hair done.

Spoke to he nurse at the hospital yesterday about my head. she's says she will give me a call to see how my head is over the weekend, then I can top up my medication with 5 or 10 mg,
I also have a sore left shoulder, don't know what I have done, might have strained it. she says to use my tens machine, and just keep taking a couple of painkillers now & then if needed.
think I will be able to have a shower today, need to wash my hair, couldn't do it on Wednesday as planned.

Morning everyone ,Evening Kim,

Well its been tipping it down here since we got up , i woke at two had to get out for the loo ,looked out the window it wasn't raining then although the ground was wet , i think it should brighten a little later .

Had the delivery man here with the kitchen stuff , he rang just after hubby had gone to work !! so i had to give hubby a ring to come back home ,no tiles !! they are in ,he just didn't bring them !! now he has to come back again.

Should have the plumber here today to take the kitchen radiator of the wall so hubby can scim the wall behind over the week end , he usually calls on his way home so i bet it will be just as we sit down to tea , and i've got the family coming so it will be hectic !! :-S

Have cleaned another kitchen cupboard out this morning ,my cooking tin cupboard , i never knew i had had so many tins ,some haven't seen the light of day for ages they actually blinked when i got them out :-D :-D
They have now gone in the front bedroom ,i've only left a few that i need out ,no good putting them all back in as when hubby takes the old work top and tiles off there will be all the bits dropping in the cupboards :-S so i want then fairly empty .

Right off to do another cupboard :-(

Morning Jane, Dermot and all and Evening Kim,

We had a bit of rain in the night and there's still a strong wind this morning. The chickens are being blown about!! :-|

Oh's back is a bit better today I think. Hope Jane's virus is easing off now.

Thanks for the story Dermot.

Anyone got anything interesting they are going to do today?

Weather permitting I shall be up the border or the tunnel if I can't stand the wind for long.

Jane

The Pied Piper of Hamelin by Robert Browning (Just a small piece of my favourite story especially for Jane!)

Rats!

They fought the dogs and killed the cats,
And bit the babies in the cradles,
And ate the cheeses out of the vats,
And licked the soup from the cooks' own ladles,
Split open the kegs of salted sprats,
Made nests inside men's Sunday hats,
And even spoiled the women's chats,
By drowning their speaking
With shrieking and squeaking
In fifty different sharps and flats.

Morning/Evening All
I didn't have nightmares about giant rats.I t was Gypsy Horses lol...lots of them.

The sun is shining right now,but it won't last.At least the weekend itself looks fairly promising. Our Gazebo is coning down as it has had it's day and we have one of those Banana Parasols to go over the table instead.Haven't had one before so I hope we like it.
I'm sitting here in bed looking out across the field.I think the horses must still be in their beds too as I can't see any. They will soon be having a good run about when they get let out
:-D.I have seen 2 runners and 3 dog walkers so far.Cup of Tea time now :-D

Jane Report 23 May 2013 22:20

Splat the Rat???? ... ......Remember the game at school /village fairs of splatting the rat???...Mel no spare drain pipes here lol..

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 May 2013 21:52

Jane if you can geet a bit of drain pipe about three foot long and some rat bait you can put it in the pipe and nothing else but the rat will go in it.

Signing out now so will say night night sleep tight. <3

Jane

Jane Report 23 May 2013 21:26

Mandy I know nothing about hair straighteners.I do know though that Hannah has some that cost an awful lot more than a Hundred pounds....I'm smiling very sweetly at Chris now :-D,just in case I find them worthwhile buying.

Lawks!!!! my nose is glued to the window now on RAT WATCH...I know we have the Chickens next door down the bottom of the garden on the other side of the fence ,but I have never seen a rat right up near my back door :-S.I really will have to move all bird food right down the garden now ,which will mean I won't have my lovely Robins on my window sill .
When we had the Council chap a few years ago for rats we had to pay a flat fee of about £45 .That covered all visits until there were no more sign of rats. I bet the little devil is snuffling around out there now (if it hasn't been shot),but it is too dark now to spot it......I don't like it
:-S :-S

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 May 2013 21:05

We have been lucky with rats this year. We had a couple under the chicken house and oh put a rat bait box down and then they moved to under the new pond. We then put a box under the new decking and that got them. We have had no trouble since.

I always get oh to help me put the quilt cover on. I lay it out on the bed and we grab a corner each and work it up to the far corners and then he lifts it up his side and I do the same , give it a shake and it's in. My poly cotton one I paid a lot for dos'nt need ironing. It just never has a crease in it.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 23 May 2013 20:21

Well i'am glad the tip was useful ,i nearly didn't bother to post it as i thought you would all know and it was just me who didn't know how to do it !! :-D

Jane, £100 for hair straighteners !! :-0 are they gold plated !! LOL

I always iron my king size duvet ,no problem doing that ,but i do struggle getting the duvet cover on :-S as i've said before i flung it up and then ended up right inside the cover !!!LOL :-D

Still going over really black, and we've had a few really heavy showers .

Oh heck just read about the rat !!! :-S :-S you'll have to have the pest man in from the council Jane, they'll put poison down for the rats for no charge i think !!

Jane

Jane Report 23 May 2013 20:09

OMG we have a massive RAT :-0 :-0.....I spotted it under the patio table .It then went under the branch of the tree with the Coconut, eating bits of fallen fat....It is a biggie.Body about 8 inches and the tail about the same.
I am going to have to stop feeding the birds near the house now :-(.Chris had a pop with the gun but don't know if he got it or not(most likely NOT).I now have the Heebie Jeebies :-S.James got a pic I think on his phone.
It's put me right off my dinner :-S :-S :-S

Jane

Jane Report 23 May 2013 19:00

Back from the Hairdressers. It just tipped it down as I walked out the door :-S.But I had my brolly and it was just a short walk to the car :-D.Nigel has lent me a pair of Hair Straighteners to see how I get on with them.He reckons once I get the hang I wouldn't be without as it would sort out all my kinky sticky out bits.I have to take them back on tuesday. So I could end up buying some.£100 !!!!!! and they are the cheap ones.

I always iron my king size duvet covers....with a lot of huffing and puffing and swearing.....then more huffing puffing and swearing trying to get the blasted duvet in it lol.I do Chris's hankies too even though he just uses them to clean his specs.(I think I must be barmy) but can't bare a crumpled hankie.

Have just been informed I will be sleeping in the spare room again.I am getting quite used to it now (may just move permanently :-D )

Hannah is off to Galway (Ireland) on Saturday to meet the rest of John's family. It is way out in the sticks and I think they still use peat for the fires !!!.
I told her about us going to Appleby (and the Gypsy Horse Fair) She said Gawd Mum,they will probably all be arriving when you are there. She told me to behave and keep my mouth shut !!!!.I can't imagine what she means ;-)

Right I think it is time to think about dinner BBL

Maureen I would'nt even attempt to iron my king size quilt covers. I have a lovely cotton white one with a lace square on it. It only ever goes in the drier before I put it on the bed as it is just too much for me to handle. I have ironed it in the past but it was a joke and took me forever.
