William good to hear that Carmel did'nt have much pain in the night. Hope everything goes well for you both tomorrow.

Frank get yourself some tonic water to drink at night, and did'nt you say you had Quinine tabs from the doc?

My son always travelled well from a baby. I used to take him to mums for work three evenings a weeks on the back seat of the car in a carry cot. It was'nt untill later he had a little car seat.

Morning All and Evening KIm,

WEll we have another nice day here but with some big white fluffy clouds in the sky.

Must go shopping today.

Still ache from yesterdays gardening but not as bad as I thought I would and think the hot shower helped a lot. Thumbs hurt though from digging and pulling weeds.

Morning everyone,evening Kim,

Well i don't think we've had any rain here over night every where was dry when we got up ,had a few spits a few minutes ago but not enough to wet the ground !! it has brightened up now although it does seem much cooler out there .

No lazy bones here either Frank !! i'll have you know i was up at 6-15 this morning made a cup of tea ..........then went back to bed :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

I don't remember son ever being sick in the car and the grandchildren all seem to travel well too, hubby gets a head ache some times if he's in the passenger seat i wonder if its my driving that does that,as he always says that i drive faster than him !! :-S :-D :-D :-D

Oh new shoes always give me a blister :-S they say if you rub a bar of soap in the heels it helps .

It sounds like a busy day tomorrow for you William, as you say have a nice rest today .

Right coffee time me thinks ....... my backs a bit twingy today ,i think the gardening over the week end has now caught up with me !!

That it, Posted to answer Will and Jane TWICE and it was just taken away from me.

Will, pleased the Carmel had a comfortable night. Hope all goes well with the dentist for you later.

New shoes indeed, I thought you her clearing things out. Not buying more !!

Ros wanted to get the hanging baskets and pots planted up today. There is no room in the greenhouse to do, so she would do it on the patio table, but with the rain I don't think I want to sit out there with an umbrella protecting her :-D :-D :-D

We can just hope it clears this afternoon.

Who are you calling Lazy Bones???? I'll have you know I have been up for some time ,showered ,dressed, breakfasted, fed the birds and sorted washing :-D :-D

Not so good here .It has rained a little overnight and is just dull and slightly misty.I'd like to think it will clear.

Ann it is just the back of the house plus one side window that we are having done.Next year it will be the front. We have too many windows to have done all at the same time.
Chris is often bad at finding his way out of car parks lol...Must be a man thing ;-)

One of mine was always car sick as a baby.I really can't remember who now.But I always dreaded the long journey down to Plymouth to see Mum.The car seat was well covered in sick by the time we arrived ,even with stops and mopping up.So then it was washing everything as soon as we got there and trying to dry out the seat as quickly as possible.....Then we had that journey home :-S

I must put some plasters on my heels as I'm trying out a new pair of shoes this morning.I'll wear them to town when I go to get my sun glasses tightened.I'd hoped to have had them done yesterday but never got there.

Ironing for a bit first though.......Oh the joy of being a housewife :-| :-D

William Report 8 May 2013 09:30

I'm here Frank, looking at the wet grey day outside, but we do need some wet for the parched gardens.

Carmel didn't have too bad a night with her toe, we seem to have any after pain under control.

Ann, next time you are Breedon way, do go up to the church. The church itself is very old and has some interesting things to be found inside if it's open. The views from up there are very worth the visit. We went to Caulke after it was first opened by the NT as we had watched a programme about it on TV. It was amazing to see how it had just been left abandoned, forgotten with things left just as they were. Especially in the childrens nursery where toys were just left like the kids had just gone out of the room. It was so different to the organised splendour of most country houses.

Mel, I won't tell Carmel about your friends toenail. This is the second time she's had this nail removed. The previous time our GP did it, but it grew back misshaped. The chiropodist said the nail bed should have been removed too, so fingers crossed it will be OK this time.

Mandy, Staunton is a lovely place to go anytime, we always feel so relaxed there, even though it's where Alan spent his last days. In the summer, the Canada geese can be a bit of a pest but everything has a right to live in nature. When the swans are on the lake, they are a treat to watch just gliding majestically along.

No plans for today, just make sure Carmel is comfortable. Get our strength back for three events tomorrow. 8.30am, my tooth root out - 10.45 Carmel back to Nuneaton clinic for a dressing change - 3.30pm impression of my mouth to make the add-on tooth for my plate. Also pay out another £60 for my on-going tooth saga - that makes a total of £300!!! And I'm all out of BUPA on dental treatment for this year. That was an expensive piece of chocolate :-\

Come on Lazy bones, where are you.

Good morning all/evening Kim.

Been up since 5.45 with cramp. It had me awake quite a bit. I even laid with my feet against the glass wall robe doors. Good job they took the pressure.

Nice drop of rain during the night. Should make it easier to do some planting, if my legs will let me.

Haven't heard from the Dr. yet about my knee, I hope I don't have to ring him. He won't be pleased. He said he would let me know last weekend, it's now Wednesday !!!

Can't remember much about children being sick, but my daughter could not travel by car with projecting sick into the back of my neck. I use to have an old sheet round my shoulders when she was in her chair in the back seat. Many a time we have had to stop and change the cloths on a journey, OH the joy of children.

BreaKFAST NOW, SEE YOU LATER.

Evening All,

I hope Carmel has a good night after having that nail removed William. She doesn't have an easy time does she. The pics you took are lovely and Carmel looked as if she was enjoying the sun too. I've been to Staunton Harold and it is nice around there. We were looking at the reservoir from Caulke Abbey yesterday, at the back just as you say. I had a look at the Caulke Abbey site this morning and discovered it DOES have gardens, beautiful walled ones, one filled with palm trees and flower beds too. We never saw any signs to it, but that was par for the course yesterday.......OH couldn't find the way out of the carpark.....no exit signs and people were having trouble finding where to buy tickets. I have been to Breedon a couple of times to the craft place there and have promised myself I will go up to that church at the edge of the quarry. I took a pic of that little lock up place too....amazing it has survived. What a nuisance your crown snapping off like that.....MORE EXPENSE as Frank would say!!

Poor little Matteo must be feeling really grizzly Fiona what with one thing and another. Your daughter must be longing for a good sleep. My little brother was teething when I did my 'O' levels and was screaming every night. It gets to the point where you can't get to sleep because you are listening for the next time!!! :-S I think you are wise to be careful of the sun with your head. I get headaches the first few times the sun is strong each year, even if I drink plenty.

Frank I am planting out the runners tomorrow. I've also planted out the mange tout and some bedding plants today. It's a bit early, but with being away next week, they stand a better chance in the soil. I need to put some old plastic sacks over the tomato bed and around the cue in the greenhouse too. with a good watering they are usually fine for a week.

Mandy, your hubby has done well not to break any glass (with son's help and bacon butties of course!). I bet it looks good now.

Jane are you having all new windows! :-) It was good giving your nephew the electrical work, better than having strangers in, and good to put work his way. I hope Chris can fix the strimmer. I think I will give the artichokes in a jar a miss then!!! :-S lol.

Mel I KNOW I couldn't cope with your big garden!! I had a pretty big garden at my last house, when I sold it one lady who came to see it called the garden 'the grounds' lol.......it wasn't that big, though!! It looked lovely, but was a constant battle to keep on top of it. I'm very happy with our modest plot now.

Off to bed now.......all this heat and fresh air makes you tired.

Night night x

Jane Report 7 May 2013 21:00

I didn't touch it Mandy!!!! Honest. :-D. Frank you make me sound terrible lol.

I am just about ready for bed now but want to watch the NHS programme,so will get a couple of matchsticks to prop my peepers open.

Oh Fiona ,poor Matteo and his projectile sick :-(.Hopefully once the cough clears there won't be too much mopping up to do.

Right I'm signing off now .See you all in the morning xx

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 May 2013 20:36

Did'nt go shopping today as the weather was so nice again. Oh mowed more grass as we have rain forcast and then high winds on Thursday. I worked on the border and then oh joined me and together we managed to get a lot more of it weeded and mulched. Boy do I ache and I am so tired. I think I am getting too old for this huge garden. We were both puffing and panting as we were working and had to come down for a drink. We did go back up there though and carried on.

What a terrible thing about those girls shut up for 10 years!!!!!!!! They must be so relieved to be free once again.

We had a quick tea tonight just cold turkey, rosti, peas and onion rings. I don't think I would have had the energy to cook anything else and all I want now is a nice hot shower.

William we have a young friend who has just had his toenail off again. He had the root out last time but it still grew back!!!!! :-S This was the third time he had it done.

Hope Carmel can sleep well again tonight and without much pain. Give her my love please.

Fiona

Fiona Report 7 May 2013 20:35

Yes Mandy the heat from the sun had cooled a lot by 5 so I managed to get outside and as long as I was not sitting in direct line of the sun I was ok.

Matteo's eyes are a lot better but he has the cold now and his little nose was either running or all snotty in side, also got a cough so after every feed if he started to cough up would come the breast milk WHOOSH :-0 and he would get upset. and poo does it smell
Daughter had to change his clothes twice , once it landed on my trousers and another time on the chair, the joys of having grandchildren :-) :-) Dr said to daughter last week that by the time Matteo goes to school he will have had all the coughs & colds his big sister brings in from nursery, he will have a good immunity system, I hope he sleeps better tonight daughter was up and down last night with him coughing, she says she can give him a little cough medicine now he is 5 months

Frank Report 7 May 2013 20:33

It wouldn't surprise me if she had Mandy, can't keep her hands off anything. lol lol
No she didn't overspend, but today she bought MORE PLANTS for the garden. Where we are going to put them, I don't know. I wish she would plant the ones outside that she's already bought.!!!

Ros bought me back a box of Devon Fudge. When I opened it this evening , the box was more than twice the size of the piece of fudge inside. CON or what. But there was a postcard on the box that you could remove and post to someone. Anyone wants a postcard of Torquay.

Have potted up some cucumber plants for dibby neighbour this afternoon, when I gave them to her I told her to put canes in for them to grow up. She got some canes that were about 18 inches long. No No, I said LONG CANES. Will wait and see what materialises in a few weeks.

Have potted on some plants that madam has left on the patio table, they were in the netting type tubes, Dried out just looking at them, so now in pots and been feed and watered.

Have got runner beans out of greenhouse, if it rains tomorrow, I will try to put them in, so they get a good start.

I got Pork loin steaks for dinner tonight . I cooked them in the casserole with onions, garlic and mushrooms, with new potato's, runner beans, fresh peas, carrots and broad beans.

A few potato's over for my breakfast in the morning.
Fried with my bacon and eggs and a couple of slices. I bet I will have that before she's up. !!

Well it has been a beautiful day today, even though they say we are in for a change tomorrow. Temp today 22 tomorrow 14, so will feel a bit chilly.

Be good, and JANE don't get Chris wound up, you know you will be in trouble :-D :-D :-D

Evening everyone,

Another beautiful day with plenty of sun , i have a feeling it won't be long before they say we will have a hose pipe ban , we badly need some rain the garden is so dry , i carn't remember the last time we had a good shower of rain , all we've had is a few spits !!!

The back door and two side windows are in ,not too much mess the glass in the old windows came out with out breaking , hubby has just an odd job to do tomorrow to finish them off.

Went with DIL to take Katie to school and then we went round the shops ,son had dropped a few hints he would like some more Ad*das jogging bottoms so i treated him to a pair for helping hubby today , he then said he's coming back tomorrow to help hubby do some thing else !! :-D i told him he won't be getting another pair tomorrow :-D :-D :-D :-D

Thank you for the photo's Wiliiam , it looks a lovely peaceful place, so green with the beautiful lake too, just the right place to just sit with your thoughts .
Naughty naughty with the chocolate !! i like to keep mine in the fridge too, but it does make it hard to bite !!
Hope Carmel doesn't have to much pain with her toe in the night .

Glad Ros got home ok Frank, and had a good time , hope she hasn't spent to much and put you in the red :-S :-S :-S :-D :-D :-D did you get a stick of seaside rock? :-D

Hope you will be able to sit out for your BBQ Fiona , it soon turns cooler late in the afternoon so you might have managed too.
Are Matteo's eyes better today ?

Oh dear you haven't been having a go with the strimmer and broken it have you Jane !! :-S :-D :-D

Jane

Jane Report 7 May 2013 17:23

Will it not have cooled off a bit in time for the BBQ Fiona? It's been a corker here but now feels much more comfortable.I hope your head stays good and the heat doesn't make it flare up.
Did your daughter get the letter about her interview?

Well the Window surveyor has just gone .He was here for 2 hours ! Funnily enough he was the same chap who came to survey when we had the big leak under the floor last year.He now works for Zenit*.He said he worked for them before .So he reckons 6 to 8 weeks for Windows to be made.
Gas man has sorted out the problem again with the pump in the airing cupboard. It was a stuck valve on the hot water.

Chris has been beavering away, but I could see he was having trouble with the new Strimmer, and looked a bit fraught .In fact I can see him now and it looks like something is still not right. He has that face :-S :-S.Something tells me not to wind him up about anything tonight :-S

I just realised that we have had no cold calls for nearly a week :-D :-D.I won't hold my breath as I'm sure they will start again.

Oh gawd ,Chris has unplugged strimmer ....not a good sign :-|

Ann I forgot yesterday to say I wasn't impressed with the Artichokes.(they were just the ones in the jar with oil and herbs).Maybe fresh ones cooked nicely would be better. But I don't think I will be trying lol

I think I had better go and maybe see if himself would like a drink.Wish me luck lol

William.I hope Carmel's toe isn't too sore tonight. At least it is done now.I have a wonky toe nail which seems to gradually be going to the right :-S

Staunton Harold Hall is accessible on Wikipedia, and you can spin off from there to John Blunt's own website which is well worth a look.

William

William Report 7 May 2013 14:51

Frank, your right it is a beautiful spot. I always feel so lifted when I visit there. The hall is not NT, just the church on the rare occasions it opens. Previously, when Alan was there, it was a Sue Ryder hospice and on the lower floor on the right side as you were viewing it, there was a Sue Ryder charity shop and a lovely café. In the winter there would be a huge log fire blazing up the big fireplace with a big Christmas tree next to it. We were taken as a privilege one time to the very old chapel that is right in the centre of the hall. After Ryder's moved out, a local farmer, John Blunt, took on the hall as a private residence but with restricted access for the public in the grounds. He also does weddings and functions there as a private venture. He is very approachable as when Alan's original tree died, he was most concerned and co-operative with us.
There is lots of history attached to the house and I'm not sure if there is anything on the internet, I'll chase that up.

Carmel's had her nail removed and is now resting, it wasn't as bad as she feared. The needle (2 jabs) for the anaesthetic was the worst part. We'll have to see how she is when that wears off.

Morning from blue skied Blisworth.

I have been awake since six, laid for an hour and got up.
Garden pots and bottom beds watered and feed.

Ros got home about 8.30 pm Tired out. They had been to Exeter yesterday, to a massive shopping centre, which meant a lot of walking, I said why didn't you get a shop mobility scooter, Oh no too much trouble, So my reply was "WELL DON'T GRUMBLE" It's nice to have her home !!!

Will, What a lovely place you found, for Carmel's memorial tree to be planted. <3 <3 ,and it seems very popular for visitors. Is it generally open to the public or just to N.T. members??

Ros changed the bed this morning, and the machine has just finished, so I will put it on the line. She has gone out with Carolyn, not that we need anything but bread and milk, as I haven't been cooking.

The steak I got out for Sunday, I have cooked and chopped up for the birds, they are going mad for it as I sit here.

Trust you are all well and enjoying yet another beautiful day. I will no doubt get too much sun on my today and be sore tonight :-D :-D
